Premier Pro 1.5 & Windows 7

Just started upgrading my PC (xp pro, premier pro 1.5 etc.) that has served me well for many years.
On Windows 7 (64Bit) OS just tried to install Premier Pro 1.5 & now realising it cannot run am unable to uninstall it. Any tips on how to get it off the new operating system please ?

If it does not show up in the Win7 control panel application to remove, the only way I know of is to use WinExplorer to remove the files and directories, and then find a registry cleaner for Win7
You might search at http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US to see if Microsoft has any advice, or a tool

Hello, I am editing my final project at university on Premier Pro CC on mac, but when I try to load my project in Premier Pro CC for windows on my home pc i get  "codec missing or unavailable". Something to do with Apples' ProRes 422 LT codec. Is there a way round this problem?

I just went to the Miraizon site, who has been the sole licensee of ProRes for PC, to see if their $150/license download was still at that price.
This is what I found ...
They only sell a few of their other products, and the ProRes/DNxHD codec package only generates an email form to "support".
I'm afraid you'll have to transcode those files to something like DNxHD or an avi codec or something to work them via PC. And I'd thought about purchasing that codec pack from them but kept putting it off. Now, I wish I'd bought it. Ah well.

  • Premier pro failing after windows updates?

    Hi all,
    I have a windows workstation
    i7 3639K chip
    gigabyte X79 MOBO
    NIVIDEA Quadro 4000 graphics card
    32 GB ram
    WD 2TB caviar green harddrive
I know the hard drive is not great but it was the best I could afford at the time.  So took computer to the shop for a power supply issue and the helpful tech has updated everything (service pack 1) [Usually I keep this machine offline and do not update when I have everything working- if it isnt broken dont fix it is my philosophy]
Premiere pro usually runs very very fast on this machine - I have been editing film quite happily without needing to render sequences first and have been getting very responsive performance from the timeline scrubber and preview window--- but now there is a long delay between moving the timeline scrubber and the preview window changing and also premiere pro is continually freezing when exporting (no error or anything - it just hangs on x% and does not go any further- when you try to cancel - then it starts "not responding" and eventually you have to crash the program to continue..[At the moment I am trying to edit and export short .png sequences from 3ds max]
I have updated Premiere pro 5.5 and tried to update graphics card to latest driver, but this has not fixed the issue,
    Two questions-
    1) what should I be doing to try to get Premier Pro back to working how it was?
    2) any suggestions (adding an SSD or creating a RAID or changing settings?) to get better performance out of my machine (once I resolve my current issue)
    Cheers all

The only idea I have is to reinstall Windows from scratch, update it, then reinstall Adobe software and update that.
And leave it connected so the updates come regularly.  (They are there because something is broken, the update fixes it.)

  • After installing CS4 Master Suite on new Windows 7 X64 laptop, Premier Pro new projects window will not accept input.

I'm migrating my CS4 Master Suite to a new computer.  The new system is a Dell M3800 running Windows 7 x64.  Install goes fine except for a failure on Flash install.  Once install is complete Premier Pro won't accept any input on the New Projects window.  You can click on the file name field and change it but that's about it.  No buttons will function.  If you change the name and leave the field you can not change it again.  No further input is accepted and the actual change you made isn't applied.  You can exit out of the window with the X.  You can also go to an existing project no problem.  All other applications seem to be working fine.
Tried uninstall and cleanup and reinstall.  Problem does not change.  Made sure anti-virus and firewall were disabled before install.  No other applications are running during install.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After I purchased the creative cloud, I receive an error message when trying to use premier pro cc 2014.  It states "Adobe Premiere Pro 2014.2 has stopped working.  A problem has caused it to stop working.  Windows will close the program and notify you of a solution."  When I used the trial I never received this message.  Now after purchasing it I receive this error each time I open PP and am unable to use. it.  Any ideas or support to fix this issue?

What does the detailed crash report say?
And have you updated your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website? (most crashes on launch are due to bugs in out of date video card drivers)

  • Premier Pro CC 7.2.2 crashes on launch in Windows 7, probably self inflicted problem...

I installed PPCC 7.2.2 because I wanted to test the content analyzer to text functionality.
I started the software, loaded a file, and started the analyzer.  It then passed this over to Media Encoder as expected and the process chugged along merrily for about 30 minutes.  At which point I got bored and decide to stop the process and use a much smaller file to test with.
So, despite years of experience and knowing better I tried stopping the process, and when it wouldn't end I used the Windows Task Manager to kill the process in Media Encoder.
Now when I try to start Premier Pro CC 7.2.2 it crashes on launch and gives me the very descriptive message "Adope Premier Pro CC has stopped working."
My initial attempt to fix this was to uninstall PPCC 7.2.2 and reinstall it.  That didn't help.
Based on 38+ years of programming experience I suspect there is a corrupted temp file floating around that PPCC is finding when it launches.  So, I looked every place I could think of for temp files and/or crash dumps and deleted them all.
All the "crash on launch" discussions I have found so far refer to MAC systems, so I'm not sure where to look to repair the damage.
Anyone have any ideas on "the most likely" cause of the problem and what I need to clean up to fix it?
    Thanks, Bobw

I uninstalled Quicktime, rebooted 3 times to clear the Windows registry cache, reinstalled Quicktime, rebooted, then tried running PMPRCC 7.2.2.
I got the same non-descript error.  So, I checked the Resource Monitor it it showed only PMPRCC7.2.2 hung.  I checked the wait chain and it looks like this:

I grabbed screen shots of all that, and also grabbed the lists of "Associated Handles" and "Associated Modules."   I'm going to review the list of handles to see if there I can identify a file that has a date/time stamp near the time the problems start.   Let me know if you want me to post either or both lists.

  • Premier pro 5.5 not compatable with windows 7 64 bit

I have recently spent over 3.5 hours on the phone live only to be told they can't fix the problem of Premier pro shutting down in Windows 7 64bit every time I try to open it.
I was told to install Pro 4.  I have pro 4 and that is why I bought 5.5  Now I can't get pro 4 to work either it also is shutting down.  Has anyone had the problem.  I believe Adobe has left me hanging after spending 495.

I was finally luckey enough to get a tech on the phone.  To get the tech I had to call sales and explain what was happening , that the 800-833 6687 would get me to choice 2 for tech help and then hang  up.  This happened yesterday 10-28-2011 roughly 18 times.  The sales person was kind enough to stay on the phone and verify what I was saying and go through the connections and get me to a tech who knew what he was doing and take the time to do it.  It took roughly 1hour and 30 minutes to determine that the video card was the problem.  The adobe site lists my card and compatable with the suite.  I took the machine to Best Buy tech
and tried to show him the problem and the system worked.  I recreated the scene at home and found the difference was that BB was using only one monitor.  Premier Pro 5.5 is the only part of the suite that will not work with dual monitors.  For 3 days I have spent countless hours and exausted patience only to solve the problem myself.  So much for Adobe tech help.

  • Trouble running Premier pro 2.0 on windows vista

I have recently bought a new laptop running windows vista home premium edition, my XP laptop finally having died.  I installed Premier Pro 2.0, which I had been running on XP.  During the installation I got the message 'currently installed soundcard does not support Direct Sound input - recording audio is not possible'.  However the installation completed ok.  This message comes up when I run PP.  The program opens fully but then freezes immediately.
I am running it on a Toshiba Equium 1.6 GHz with 2GB of RAM.  Any suggestions on solving this problem greatly appreciated.
    Colin

Unfortunately, a couple of things have happened:
Most users, who did get PrPro 2 to run on Vista have probably moved on up to CS4 and likely Vista-64, or Win7 beta now. They are not likely to stop by the old PrPro 2 forum.
Until about a month and a half ago, I'd have suggested a Search on this forum, as there were many articles on PrPro2 and Vista. Usually, those, who got it running were in the replies. There were qute a few, IIRC. Other than a few driver issues, those folk seemed to otherwise be trouble free, or nearly so. Then, Adobe changed the fora. Now, Search is rather limited on this forum, but you *might* get lucky. Google is not much help, as the links you'll likely find are now dead.
Since Eddie commented, and I did not see a link to the Premiere-wiki for some tips on Vista and PrPro2, I'd guess that most did not make it to the wiki. He know that site very well.
You might have luck on The Creative Cow. Do not know how well things might be archived there.
I'd also set your notification to an e-mail subscription for this thread. Someone with positive experiences might happen by and be able to help you out. However, there is not that much traffic here nowadays.
Good luck, and I wish I had something that would help. I'm still using PrPro2, but on XP. With the timing, I might miss Vista altogether.

[Edit] Wow, when I did this reply, there was only Eddie's very first reply visible. All the rest were gone, including my previous post with some of the same comments. As soon as this post went up, BANG! All the other ones appeared. Weird, just plain weird.

  • Operating system. We have Premier Pro CS6 and 32-bit Windows 7. It will not install

    Dell Laptop Latitude 6420
    Windows 7 Professional
    8GB Ram
A user in Public Relations needs to use Adobe Premier Pro CS6. However when we tried to install it the program is grayed out and has a caution icon. If I hover over it there is a message that says it prefers 64-bit. Prefers does not mean will not work in my opinion. However it will not install.
I read that Premier Pro is 64-bit only on another web site. Is this true? There has to be a solution.
On the Adobe site I saw that installing CS4 Premier was the work around but you have to purchase a license key. We have already purchased Premier Pro and do not have money in the budget to purchase an older product when this one should work.
Please help. I am under a lot of pressure to resolve this
    James

Premiere Pro CS6 is 64 bit software and will only install on a 64 bit computer. There is no way around that.
