Premier Pro CS4 not Exporting to Media Exporter

Hello all,
We've purchased Master Suite CS5, and we are using the complementary Premiere Pro (and After Effects) CS4 on the computers (32-bit systems).  Premiere Pro installed fine (as best we could tell), but we are unable to export the finished files to Adobe Media Exporter.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I'm trying to avoid a reinstall, if there's anything we are missing on settings right after the install.  I'm hoping it's not an issue with CS4 vs. CS5.
Thanks for any help offered!

  • Blending mode in Adobe Premier Pro CS4 not working???

in Adobe Premier Pro CS4, the "multiply" blending feature is not  working properly. When there's no video underneath the "blending" layer,  it SHOULD not show anything, but instead the clip instead just shows  up.

Well, the problem is that you're assuming that the "nothing" in the gaps in your PPro sequence is "something," when really, it actually IS "nothing"...
OK, existentialism aside, when you see black in the Program Monitor that results from a gap between two clips, from a digital standpoint, there really is nothing there. Empty spaces in a PPro sequence are actually a fully transparent layer, created by an alpha channel that encompasses the entire frame. Since the Multiply mode is expecting RGB values to operate on, when it doesn't encounter any (due to the alpha channel) the effect is just ignored--that's why you see the clip with the Multiply mode when it crosses those gaps.
You can correct this by filling your gaps with "real" black, either from an imported graphic or from the black video generator in PPro. Simply edit a bit of it into the gap so that there are no holes, and your multiplied clips will disappear.
And for that matter, it's never a good idea to leave empty holes in a Premiere sequence; it's often the cause of rendering and exporting headaches.

  • Premier Pro CS4, not recognizing .mpg or .m2ts files

Hello, I downloaded the 30 day trial of Premier Pro CS4.. So far it works great other than the following:
Cannot recognize .mpg or .m2ts (avchd "high def") files... It recognizes only .wma files.  Is this because I have the "free" trial
version? My currect Premiere Elements 7 reads all the above files with no trouble.

OK, I good with that... but what's the point of trialing if you cannot manipuate videos ??  I'd hate to spend the $700+ without being comfortable with Premier Pro CS4.   Allright, I guess I'll have to make .wma files to test.
    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Serious error when Exporting to Media Encoder Premier Pro CS4

Hi I have a 64 bit HP7900 16 GB memory and Vista Home premium edition
I have taken the automatic upgrades and it has completely screwed over my Premier Pro CS4 making it unusable.
I decided to co back to version 4 and installed everything again.
Now I cant export to Media Encodet.
All my driver are up to date and I am using scratch disks.
    Error message enclose.
My business is now shout down can anyone please urgently help me
    Thanks
    Nick

A number of people have been bitten by an update bug. When updating to 4.1 some have been reverted to trial status, losing all MPEG capabilities. Mostly this is caused by having had a trial version earlier or a faulty installation to start with. The only workable solution is to completely uninstall, run the Clean Script utility 2 or 3 times, reinstall and then reapply the updates. Cumbersome and time consuming, but the only solution.
Look in the Adobe KB for info on the Clean Script CS4 utility.

  • Can't export to tape on Premier Pro CS4 Extended

When I attempt to export to tape from Premier Pro CS4 Extended, version 4.1.0, to a DV Cam, the tape rolls and records (with device control) but I get no video or audio.
    I have:
-selected the timeline for the sequence
-the work area bar is over the entire sequence
-I’ve made sure the tape is record enabled
-I have tried two DV cameras, and three fire wire cords
-I am able to capture video into the computer using all of the above
-I’ve tried moving my project from my external hard drive to my internal one
    Still no export…….
    Any ideas why?
-I am using a Dell computer with:
                - Windows XP Professional 2002 Service pack 3
                - Intel[R] Core [TM]2 Quad CPU
                -Q9450 @ 2.66JHz
-2/66 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM
                -Physical Address Extension
-Unfortunately I can not find the name of my video card but this computer was   built specifically to edit video so I am sure it has one.

Make sure External Device under Export is enabled in the Playback Settings of the Program monitor.

  • Problems importing Sony Handycam mpg files into Premier Pro CS4

I'm investigating Premier Pro CS4 for video editing and if I can make it work okay then I will purchase the Master Collection. Otherwise I may go to the MAC and use Final Cut. I need immediately to edit files downloaded from a Sony HandyCam that come off in an mpg format I believe it is (MPEG-2). My understanding is that the Premier Pro supports the importing of mpg files.
When I attempt to import one of theses mpg files I get the error, "Unsupported file format or damaged file." I know the files are okay because I can play them with Windows Media Player and have been able to edit them with Window Movie Maker. Now I need a more robust editing environment and am looking at Premier Pro to be the solutions.
Has anyone had experience with importing mpg files? Is there a Codec needed? If so where can I get it and how do I install it?

Adobe wouldn't help me on the phone, as I haven't got a support contract. Perfectly rational by them, just stupid.
I've asked my software supplier to forward on some questions and a link to this thread to Adobe support and they should be looking at it soon.
Also, there is another possible solution that might help those of you with full versions.
There is some advice here on one way to give Premiere Pro the ability to import MPEGs.
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/premiere/pro/import/mpeg-ac3.html
This is very attractive to me - as I know the AC3 audio codec is used by my MPEG files and it sounds like it could be a solution. Of course, I've tried it, and I still get the same error.
I ran the files through TSRemux and got the same 'file format not supported' error message.
I've also been trying to import a .mov file into the trial version and I get the same error. Jim, would you be able to help me by saying in which other ways the trial version is limited?

  • Premier Pro CS4 - Simple Editing Question

    Hello,
I'm a complete noobie with video editing. A friend gave me Premier Pro CS4 that he had gotten from school. What I want to do with it is to "censor" and edit out certain parts of videos to make them family friendly. (Profanity, nudity, etc...)
I have managed to actually cut out stuff I disliked and export, but the video is re-sized. I don't want to re-size the video at all or even convert to a different format , just edit.
I tried setting the sequence thing as close as possible, but it keeps doing it. I don't even really know what a sequence is.
How do I make it maintain the original settings?

First, you make sure your project matches your video files

  • Premier pro CS4

I have been using Adobe Premier Pro CS4 which was installed on my macbook around 3 years ago at the University of Rhode Island.  Since upgrading to Yosemite OX10.10, my premier pro applications do not open.  I contacted Adobe about this, and they asked for the product serial number (which I never had).  I have been retired for two years.  My University tells me that they are unable to provide me with that serial number...they no longer have the program disks.  Is there anything I can do short of buying a new Adobe Premier Pro?  I think I am still entitled to purchase a student/teacher edition as an emeritus professor.  What would I have to send in to Adobe to prove that I am (will a two year old paycheck stub do?

Being quite old, the reason CS4 won't load on your Mac running Yosemite may be because since Mac OS 10.8 (you are running Yosemite, which is 10.10) some old programs won't run due to Mac OS dropping support for 32-bit applications.
Someone who knows more than me might be able to get into the finer points of it but basically your problem is due to your new (up-to-date) Mac OS dropping support (the ability to run) for your older version of the software.
You'll need to upgrade to the latest version of Premiere Pro I think.

  • Premier Pro CS4 install issues.

Hello - I am trying to install Premier Pro CS4 onto a Win XP/SP3 machine that already has CS5 Premium installed.  The reason I need Premier CS4 is simple - I am still running a 32 bit machine. So, the download and install went without a hang or a hitch, but when I try to start the program I get a "Lincensing for this product has expired" error message.  Prior to the install, I had a copy of Premier 5.0 installed, but it was uninstalled that prior to this install.  During the install I get the green check mark with the serial number, and after three attempts at install/uninstall, (two installs with the serial number, and the last install attempt as a "trial" install) I am getting the same error when I try to open Premier, Encore, OnLocation or Media Encoder.  I tried to call the Adobe "help line" but after listening to mind-numbing muzak for an hour I gave up, and came here.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get this up and running?  I HAVE to get video edited by Thursday with this.
    Thank you all, in advance.
    Alan Staats

...Thank you, Mr. Smith.  Resolved the problem by rolling back the date to 1 Jan 2006, opening Premiere, deactivating it, closing it, and re-opening it whereupon I was prompted for the "new" serial number.  Turns out my assistant had downloaded and installed a trial version of it, and never removed it after the trial period ended.
By the way, I know that Premiere CS5 is a 64 bit program, which is why I downloaded and installed CS4 on my 32 bit machine.  The 5.0 reference was literally to Premiere 5.0, a much earlier version of the program which I used for a short period around the turn of the century!
Again, thank you for the information and references.

  • Setup capture source Premier Pro CS4

I am using Vista (64bit) on an HP Pavillion. Just bought licensed version of CS4 and trying to set up the video capture in Premier Pro CS4. I bought a Pinnacle DVC101 converter but the Capture setup will not recognize it. When I go to Settings/Device Control/Options it tells me the unit is "Offline". Does anyone have some suggestions?

Unfortunately, it won't.  It uses a USB connection and Pr only accepts Firewire connectons (natively) for capture.  Check out the Grass Valley/Canopus ADVC-110 as a possible solution.

  • Premier Pro CS4 crashed frequently

While rendering the Premier Pro CS4 crashed frequently with the following message: "Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." any idea? the HW used is: HP workstation xw8600 with video card NVIDIA FX 4600. OS: Vista 32 bit

    Hello,
    Thanks for the help.
#3 - I realy consider it as the final solution
    #2 - I already did it - didn't help
Regarding #1 - I don't understand what exactly to delete. The UserFolder>Documents>Adobe>Premiere Pro>4.0 is my working folder of Premier Pro where I'm saving all my current medias and project.
Shall I work with a different folder instead?

  • Unsupported or Corrupt tiff file in Premier Pro CS4

I keep receiving a message: file is unsupported or corrupt when trying to do an import into Premier Pro CS4. I can open the file in windows photo viewer, Photoshop CS4 and other applications with no problem. I tried saving the file as a jpeg and then imported it into Premier Pro but the preview screen is black. Has anyone ever had this happen? It looks as though the only problem exists in Premier Pro.
    Joe

    Joe,
I've seen this with image files, that have improperly formed headers. It most often happens with JPEG's, and often PS cannot open these, and will throw similar errors. For those, I just open the file in another program, one not so strict, and do a Save_As from that program. Then, PS can open the new one.
I'd look into what is in your TIFF. Is it Layered, does it have Alpha Channels, and/or Paths. Is it RGB (CMYK will NOT work)? Is it 16-bit, or 8-bit? Those are just some of the possible problems. In PS, I would check the Color Mode, the Bit-depth, Flatten, Delete all Paths and Alpha Channels. If you need the Layers, or the Alpha Channels, then try doing a Save_As .PSD, and try again.
Remember, no 16-bit/32-bit and no CMYK - 8-bit RGB only.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

I've killed all the processes you have told me too.
I've taken off the side of my PC and run a fan to hopefully help cool it down - With increasing airflow, I think I probably need a bigger case and more fans, this PC is a mixture of hardware from 3 that have been cannibalised. (Hence why the power supply isn't very good)
I'm sorry I'm not very computer literate, and I'm a student desperately trying to do her work. My PC isn't a notebook, its a desktop PC.
I'm not sure if there are any settings in the BIOS to help increase fan speed?
I'm really sorry, but what is a SATA drive?
Thanks so much for the help so far! It's still not working though :(
I'm going to wait a bit to see if the fan helps lower the temperature enough that its ok.

  • FCE  vs Premier Pro CS4

    Hey all -
This is probably a tough crowd to ask this question to as we are in an Apple forum but i'll shoot anyway.
I'm starting a job in August and need to pick an editing software asap. I cannot afford FCP but after seeing the differences betweekn FCP and FCE I would consider FCE.
The issue is that a lot of the other people involved are using Adobe Premier Pro CS4. I know nothing about CS4 but do know about FCE.
In uyour honest opinion... would I be able to match everything they are doing in CS4 and maybe even do more??
    Thanks in advance!!
    Tim

I know little about APP CS4 but I can say that FCE and FCPro, even though they operate and have many commonalities, they are not totally compatible even with the same workable versions.
FCPro simply has features that FCE does not have.
I can only imagine a different app will make things get in an even bigger tangle.
