Premier Pro CS6 and EVS Integration
Hello everyone,
I am new to Premier Pro and this forum so please bare with me...
I am currently trying to import a .mov sent via an EVS with the Avid DnxHD codec but am unable to view it in either Premier Pro or After Effects CS6.
I am using a Mac running OSX 10.7.4 and have installed the latest Avid codecs (2.3.7) and have tested the system with codec versions 2.3.2 & 2.3.4, none of which work.
I have tried opening the file in CS5.5 and it reads fine.
It also opens in Quicktime 7 but not Quicktime 10.
We have tried exporting the footage using the same codecs as a .mov directly from Avid and it reads fine in both AE, PPRO, Quicktime 7 & 10.
So I have come to the conclusion that there has been a big change in CS6 and Quicktime which EVS hasn't (yet) accounted for.
Has anyone had the same/similar issues? If so have you been able to fix them??
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Will.
I have only been able to make this work with ProResLT. It does not appear to function with AVCIntra100 in an mxf at OP1a nor Avid DNXHD.

Hi there guys! I´m very, very, VERY close to buy a full configuration iMac (the late 2012 27" model) but I have reed in different forums that Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and other applications from Adobe such as After Effects DO NOT support the graphic cards found in the new iMacs....
is this true??????
i really wouldn´t understad the logic behid the decission of picking a graphic card that is not supported by one of the leading video editing sofrware used today.... specially when this computer is suppoused to be an Editing Animal....
I hope this rumor is not real..... then I can be just... really happy and get my new desktop computer and work, work, work, work
thanks for your attentionHi there Daniel, thanks for paying attention to this subject. Today I got an answer from Larry Jordan from his blog (I believe he is one of the "videoguys" from http://videoguys.com and he said that actually adobe does not support those GPU that we will find in the new late 2012 iMacs. However it seems there is a way to make that work out.....
here is his review on his new iMac, at the very botton you will see comments from people and his answers... one of the last coments is mine regarding this subject, this is what I asked and his answer:
mGabo Jan 18, 2013 08:50Hi there Larry, I reed in your other post on your iMac that Adobe didn´t support the Nvidia graphic cards found in this model, I have been asking in forums about this and people say Adobe does supports them……Do you know if Adobe now works fine with these cards?
Larry Jan 18, 2013 11:10When I contacted Adobe about this a couple months ago, just after the release of the new iMacs, I was told that Adobe did not support the graphics card at that time. There is, however, a workaround, which I’m hoping to write up this weekend.Larry
mGabo Jan 18, 2013 12:28 oh! great Larry! please post the link of that article so I can follow that!many thanks

Premier Pro CS6 and MOD files.
I am thinking of getting Premier Pro CS6 and wonder if it will work with MOD files. My Panasonic camcorder records in MOD format. I notice that my Media Encoder 5.5 won't work with MOD file so I don't want to spend $$$$ on Premier Pro only to find out it doesn't work tih MOD files either.
ThanksPremiere Pro does not support mod files.
Some are lucky by just changing the extention.
Others have to convert:

However Premiere Elements does support mod files. -
Laptop for Premier Pro CS6 (and CS6 suite)
We are wanting to either purchase the CS6 suite which includes Premier Pro CS6, or get a subscription to the Creative Cloud. Our quandary is that I need a new computer to get up to specs. Although building a desktop would probably be ideal, I would like to get a laptop that I can use for other purposes during the work day, and for editing short videos when needed (5-20 minutes in length). Can someone school us on the feasibility of using either a new macbook pro (i7, 8GB Ram, 1GB video) or a new Dell XPS 15z (Win7, i5, 8GB RAM, 1GB GT 525M video) and if anyone is successfully doing this... or if anyone tried it unsuccessfully. Can Premier Pro, specifically, run on these laptops with no problem? Do i need to use additional harddrives (oerhaps a thunderbold external)?
Thank you!....consensus on this forum is to STAY AWAY from Dell and Mac......editing today's demanding codecs requires a beefy, well thought out laptop suited for the task. Some beefy gaming laptops from Asus have the necessary components, along with MSI , Sager and others,
ADK has laptops set up and tested specifically for video editing. Read the current and previous posts here on this forum regarding your question....it has been asked innumerable times before!! Before you "jump in the water" there is much to learn on this forum regarding the technical requirements to successfully edit digital video using PPro....especially from Harm Millard, Bill Gehrke, Eric and Scott at ADK, and others. -
Operating system. We have Premier Pro CS6 and 32-bit Windows 7. It will not install
Dell Laptop Latitude 6420
Windows 7 Professional
8GB Ram
A user in Public Relations needs to use Adobe Premier Pro CS6. However when we tried to install it the program is grayed out and has a caution icon. If I hover over it there is a message that says it prefers 64-bit. Prefers does not mean will not work in my opinion. However it will not install.
I read that Premier Pro is 64-bit only on another web site. Is this true? There has to be a solution.
On the Adobe site I saw that installing CS4 Premier was the work around but you have to purchase a license key. We have already purchased Premier Pro and do not have money in the budget to purchase an older product when this one should work.
Please help. I am under a lot of pressure to resolve this
JamesPremiere Pro CS6 is 64 bit software and will only install on a 64 bit computer. There is no way around that.

I am new to Premier Pro and I am using CS6 downloaded on a monthly basis.
I shot footage using Canon 60D and Sony EX3. All has gone very well up to yesterday. All the editing was Ok and everything in order. Then I found I could not export to Mpeg 2 DVD so downloaded the latest update and that fixed that issue. I then exported 1 minute of footage which was the 60D footage as a test. All OK. No work carried out in encore at this point.
At some point later I looked at the timeline in premier pro and noticed that all the Sony footage was now red with the project window saying media off line. In the source monitor I cannot see any of the composite video and this is greyed out on the menu and I only see the waveform. The video seems to have disappeared but if I check the info on each clip it still seems to be there as each clips indicated it is 3 - 4 GB.
So.... I need to know what has happened and how I rectify this problem. I am obviously worried that my source material has gone but my rational head tells me it will be somewhere.
I have tried a totally new project and have the same issue.
Somebody help please?I think I first need to be able to confirm my raw footage on the external
hard drive is still good.
OK, the Source Footage is on an external HDD.
Are you on a Mac, or PC?
If you are on a PC, is the drive letter assigned to that external HDD, by the OS, the exact same, as when you Imported the footage?
For some tips on using external HDD's, this article might be useful: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4542396#4542396

Premier Pro CS6 Prompts for Creative Cloud Renewal
Hey all,
I just downloaded a version of Premier Pro CS6 and have a valid serial number that I purchased as a student. After installing the program, it is prompting me to renew my CC subscription. I got CC to test out CS6 before I bought it, but cancelled before being charged because I'm not a frequent user and couldn't justify the charges. Has anyone else has this issue? How can I fix it?
Thanks,

Premier Pro CS6 not listed in Apps in Creative Cloud
I need Encore CS6, but that comes with Premier Pro CS6 and that is not listed my Apps panel of Creative Cloud.
Is your computer 64 bit?
Premiere Pro only installs and runs on 64 bit computers.
If your computer is 32 bit then you will not see Premiere Pro listed. -

Premier Pro CS6 Question.....
Why do my photos and text disinigrate quality when imported to premier pro cs6?
I have still shots that have text and they look clean and crisp when I view them in photoshop. Why does the photo and text look so fuzzy or blurry and not crisp when I import the still files into premier pro cs6?
Is there a setting in premier that I am setting incorrectly? That is possibly blurring my photos and text? The problem appears in both my PR file and my final exported work.
Is there a way to retain the quality of the image and text that I see in my photoshop file?
Note: I am not enlarging anything after import, I am reducing though, but I would think this would only make images and text sharper????
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im getting tired of doing all my work and delivering blurry / fuzzy / what appears to be low resolution images and text when I complete my project.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.Hi Jim, thanks so much again for chiming in to my questions.
Specs of Stills - Photoshop file - 677 x 1014px, 150dpi, 1.96M file size, 150dpi, this is the size of the file I originally imported and reduced to approx. 65%, the one sized properly in photoshop imported fuzzier.
Sequence Settings -
Export Settings, FLV, attached are settings.
1. EXPORT FILTER SETTINGS...
2. EXPORT FORMAT SETTINGS
3. EXPORT VIDEO SETTINGS
FINAL PROJECT IS DELIVERY OF FLV FILE TO EMBED IN INTERACTIVE FILE. Ive tried different settings for different jobs, just feel all text and photos fall apart when pulled into and exported to FLV for embedding final.
Ive done several slideshow and video's in premier pro, have so much to learn still, Im thinking I keep diving into my projects and possibly making a total mess out of my settings for the desired final destination? is this possible? -
Adobe Premier Pro CS6 unregistering (and uninstalling?) itself
Hi,
We are a university and in one of the labs have 13 Adobe Premier Pro CS6 installs, installed and registered some 12 months ago.
We've just found 2 PCs where the software has dropped back into trial mode, and had to be re-registered.
Even more strangely, 2 PCs in 3 months, Adobe Premier Pro appears to have partially uninstalled itself, as in it is no longer in add / remove programs, and some (but not all) files are missing from c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
The students using the PCs are standard users, with no Admin rights, has anyone seen these issues before?
Thanks,I'm not sure if these are about CS6, but I do have a couple saved conversations

My GUESS for add/remove problems is that you have a Windows registry problem, you might want to search Microsoft to see if you can find a tech article

I need Encore CS6 and it is not available on Creative Cloud. Neither is Premier Pro CS6 which supposedly installs Encore CS6. I need to burn a DVD from my mpeg4 output from Premier Pro CC2014. What should I do?
You should probably post your question about burning a DVD from Premiere Pro in the Premiere Pro forum

Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system and mov files
We have just installed a new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system with a HP 820Z (running windows 7) 18 core multi drive system. Our production company has used many mov. files from Ponds. We were a FCP 7.0 studio (still have the system) but the mov files won't import to our new CS6 System... Not trying to import from the mac...have them stored on another PC. We depend on this stock footage for production. Do I need to download a converter? I just had to produce two spots with a still background because I could not get any of our stock mov files to work...
Thanks much for any help!PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first... -
Can This Laptop Be Used For Premier Pro CS6?
Developed an interest in learning to edit video but have become confused in reading all of the posts about what is the true minimum hardware requirement/setup, as compared to what is listed as System Requirements by Adobe. Probably best to start with my initial goals.
Here is what I was looking at doing as this journey begins:
Purchased Creative Suite 6 Production Premium Classroom in a Book(CIB) after reading a review it would be a better start than Premier Pro CIB, which I plan on getting, if one has no experience in this field. During research feel that I would like to become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud as there are a number of products I would like to learn and use. Basically, I am hopeful that I may use my current laptop for the beginning of my education and further down the road look at getting a more powerful system as knowledge/skills/requirements increase. Initial video I wouild like to work with is that received from family members smart phones and will be looking at purchasing a simple video camera for short interviews and brief presentantions. Will likely desire uploading some completed projects to the web.
Current Hardware:
Laptop: Asus N53SV
OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: Intel i7-2670QM 2.2GHz Cores=4 Threads=8
L3 Cache: 6mb
RAM: 6MB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000, NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1024 MB
OpenGL: 3.1.0
Display: 1920 X 1080
Drives: (1) HD, Seagate 500GB @ 7,200 RPM partitioned as C: 186GB with OS and programs, D: 254GB some documents
E: Optical DVD-RW
F: USB 3 connected 2 TB Seagate GoFlex External HD
If this laptop can be used with current hardware, I wouild sincerely appreciate any suggestions for how to best utilize what is available to begin learning Premier Pro CS6. As I will not have any time schedules that will have to be met I can accept that this may not be the ideal system. Just hoping it can be a start.
If any further information is required about the laptop please let me know and Thank You for your time with this question.

That's not a bad setup at all to get started with small projects.
We all have different budgets and patience. You may be OK with what you have. And if it seems too sluggish - your rig would be for me , the following would help Premiere Pro performance:
- increase RAM to 16GB (about $140 per eBay pricing from a seller with high ratings a few minutes ago)
- add another drive; my favorite choice with your laptop would be a Seagate Momentus 750gb drive installed in a NEWmodeUS.com optical bay caddy (slips into your laptop)
Regards,
Jim
Exactly what I have done, and it is great.
You can get the caddy here:

I had this setup for my old HP and have a caddy ready to install for my new Dell Precision as well. You can either get an external house for your DVD drive, or get an external one - they are quite cheap.
