Premier Pro CS6 Consistently Crashing on My Mac

Hi Friends,
Working on a new project and have had hours of repeated crashing... UGH!
System is 10.8.5 (latest update installed), 20GB, Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.5 (latest update installed) on iMac mid 2011 27' core i7 with 1GB graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M.
I've imported a bunch of AVCHD clips that were processed in Clip Wrap. Then, I merged the clips with some audio captured separately. When I begin editing, sometimes it crashes with right clicking to create a subclip, or when dragging a subclip to the timeline, or it freezes with spinning beachball, etc.
I tried making a test account on my iMac and running Premiere Pro from there, but same crashing issue persisted when using the same files.
This is driving me nuts and killing my creativity. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

I was suspicious that merging the audio and video files (whose bit rates did not match) may have been the culprit. So, I batch converted all of the .WAV audio from my Tascam DR-05, to bit rate matched .AIF files. With these new audio files, I remerged the audio and video files. Thus far, the crashing has gone away.
Hope this helps the many others facing this Mac PP CS6 crashing issue.

I am using Premier Pro CC on my new Mac Pro desktop. It is powerful but the program is crashing frequently. I have reinstalled the program and rebooted the computer. What could be the problem? Thank you.

  • Flash Pro CS6 - consistent crash - duplicating library symbol

This is similar to a bug reported for CS5.5, then fixed in the update.
Every time I duplicate certain library symbols, flash crashes consistently.
Someone from Adobe can contact me, and I will send source files for test.
    Filippo

It's the same issue as this one:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5793195#5793195
This has been fixed in Flash CC with the 13.1 update. In case you're working on a previous version, make sure to keep all your font items in the library root (not within any folder) to avoid this crash.

  • Premier Pro CS6 crashing at Quit

Premier Pro CS6 has begun crashing at Quit.  I've run Disk Warrier and MacKeeper.  I've run Disk Utility several times.  Someone suggested that I trash PP preferences and other PP associated files.  I'm not sure I can find all such files.  Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Robert

I am also expierencing frequent crashes when premiere quits.

  • Adobe Premier Pro CS6 domain account's home folder causes crash?

    Hello All,
Background: We set our user’s home folder in active directory so that when things get saved to their documents folder they get saved to their network folder. This works fine, and hasn’t given us problems until now.
Adobe Premiere Pro from the CS3 suite has worked on a Win7 64bit HP  desktop computer for some time now. Recently Adobe Premiere Pro has been installed along with the rest of the CS6 Master Suite on this machine.
Problem: Whenever we open Premier Pro CS6 as a user that has their home folder set to the network the entire application crashes immediately.
Solution: After some Googling and expirementing I’ve determined that the problem is the home folder. If the home folder is set to the network when the user first opens Premiere Pro, it crashes and will always crash even if the settings are changed. If the home folder is not set, Premiere Pro will not crash and never will even if the settings are changed.
I think the reason this works is that premiere stores some information in the documents folder. Since changing the user home folder settings is not an option, I’d love to find another way. I’m thinking there’s probably a way to change where Premiere Pro stores the files, but I’m not sure where this would be nor how to make these settings apply to all users. Any ideas? Or alternate solutions that I haven't noticed? –Ben M

  • Import AVCHD video footage into Premier Pro CS6 - MAC - AUDIO MISSING!

    Hi,
Ive been attempting to import AVCHD video footage captured on a Panasonic into Premier Pro CS6 on my MacPro. I've tried this from the camera and after copying the entire folder to my desktop. The footage is there, but has no audio! I have read loads, forums, advice, YouTube vids and Adobe manuals, trouble shooting and help, but found no simple answer to this simple issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks too Jeff. Sandeep's post is a simple redirect to a post on Adobe which naturally I've already read before turning to the forum. The link then sends you to another link! Info. is too light on specifics, doesn't help! I have 6.0.5 as downloaded from Adobe... no joy! All remains the same, picture but still no audio! Maybe a compatibility issue with Panasonic's HC X900... but Panasonic's website is as light on info. as Adobe. I'm off to the shop to buy FCP or Avid.

  • Can Premier Pro CS6 directly record 12 hour duration DV video?

I have a question before I invest in Premier Pro CS6.
Can you record continuous DV video directly into Premiere Pro CS6?
This is my task and my current method: I record all night video from an analog Watec camera that passes through a Canopus analog to digital converter and the DV stream then feeds into a Mac running iMovie 6. iMovie 6 records continuous 2 GB clips through the night. At the end of the night then I have an iMovie project that is about 140 GB comprised of individual 2 GB files.
Can Premier Pro CS6 do this task?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
    Thomas

Jim wrote:  "What makes you think one file is "too large too work with"?
When I tried recording all night using iMovie 9 ( or whatever post iMovie 6 version)  with my 2007 iMac it had a tendency to crash at some point in the night.
I have run iMovie 6 nightly for the past six years with hardly ever a glitch.  If it did glitch then the recorded 2 GB files would at least be available in recovery.
That is just my experience but I am getting ready to get a new iMac which may be better able to record a 140 GB single file.

  • Laptop for Premier Pro CS6 (and CS6 suite)

We are wanting to either purchase the CS6 suite which includes Premier Pro CS6, or get a subscription to the Creative Cloud. Our quandary is that I need a new computer to get up to specs. Although building a desktop would probably be ideal, I would like to get a laptop that I can use for other purposes during the work day, and for editing short videos when needed (5-20 minutes in length). Can someone school us on the feasibility of using either a new macbook pro (i7, 8GB Ram, 1GB video) or a new Dell XPS 15z (Win7, i5, 8GB RAM, 1GB GT 525M video) and if anyone is successfully doing this... or if anyone tried it unsuccessfully. Can Premier Pro, specifically, run on these laptops with no problem? Do i need to use additional harddrives (oerhaps a thunderbold external)?
    Thank you!

....consensus on this forum is to STAY AWAY from Dell and Mac......editing today's demanding codecs requires a beefy, well thought out laptop suited for the task. Some beefy gaming laptops from Asus have the necessary components, along with MSI , Sager and others,
ADK has laptops set up and tested specifically for video editing. Read the current and previous posts here on this forum regarding your question....it has been asked innumerable times before!! Before you "jump in the water" there is much to learn on this forum regarding the technical requirements to successfully edit digital video using PPro....especially from Harm Millard, Bill Gehrke,  Eric and Scott at ADK, and others.

  • Adobe premier pro cs6 installation problem.

Hi I am trying to install adobe premier pro cs6, In between my system got restarted once again i tried to install it but installation is coming in Chinese language, Before my system restart it is in English language, How to get installation in English?, Urgent help needed thanks in advance.

If you're saying the system crashed during the install, it might be a good idea to sort that out before installing PP, if only because sorting that out could potentially lead to a full rebuild of Windows.

  • Premier Pro CS6-Capturing Footage, Serious Surprising Issue

I started editing using final cut pro 7 and i'm making the transition into the adobe video world.  Premier is very simlar to final cut, but I think premier is much better as long as you can find your self around.
I chose to capture vhs tapes through a fw 400 to a 800 into my mac with premier instead of final cut.  The reason for this is, i noticed that premier had a much better proc amp luma to it then fial cut did.  Meaning the capture window in final cut 7 was much darker then in premier pro cs6.
The Final cut capture window is on the left and the premier capture window is on the right.
Now this is a very good thing and this is why i chose to capture in premier instead.  Does premier have capture presets like final cut does?  I'm captureing vhs tapes that are 2 hours long and average to about 30/35 gigs a pop cuase their .movs.  Is there anyway to capture as a mpg2 and call it a day?  Thank you.

As far as I know, PPro (both Win and Mac) capture digitised tapes into the DV AVI codec... on Win it is AVI and Mac it is MOV... but the internals are the same
What is your digitising device... and does it come with it's own software?
But, do be aware that the DV AVI codec, at about 13Gig per hour, is as good as it gets for editing
If you do use other software to capture to a compressed format, you lose a great deal of the original picture quality
I hope this old link is still active... Why not edit mpeg http://tangentsoft.net/video/mpeg/edit.html

  • Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system and mov files

We have just installed a new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system with a HP 820Z (running windows 7) 18 core multi drive system.  Our production company has used many mov. files from Ponds.  We were a FCP 7.0 studio (still have the system) but the mov files won't import to our new CS6 System...  Not trying to import from the mac...have them stored on another PC.  We depend on this stock footage for production. Do I need to download a converter?  I just had to produce two spots with a still background because I could not get any of our stock mov files to work...
    Thanks much for any help!

PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first...
