Premier Pro CS6 project files (in the 6.0 folder) aren't there after upgrade to CC

I've recently upgraded from CS6 to CC and my premier pro project files form the CS6 version aren't in the Adibe folder. I'm hoping these were backed up to a hidden folder or something, or there is a way to get them back. I've still got the media (videos and audio etc). It's the project file that I cant find. Any help?

  • Is Premier Pro CS6 as good as the newest version

Due to my operating system being Snow Leopard 10.6.8, it looks like i must choose Premier Pro CS6. is this an acceptable platform, or should I wait to get a newer computer and get the latest version. I would like to keep my older IMac, as it is bulletproof. Also, if I choose an older version of PPro, does is still cost as much as the latest version?

    Hi Funhog,
This is almost like asking the question: "What's the best camera?"
The real answer is it depends what you are shooting and where you want to publish your videos, and what are your aspirations in video.
I was a CS4, then CS5.5 user - hated CS6 - but now will be moving to CC 2014 principally because I am providing video for broadcast and shooting XAVC Intra. I tried other NLEs from the usual suspects and quiet honestly they are based on film editing logisitics (IMHO). CC 2014 is geared to my past experience in editing and my current needs - AS-11 DPP delivery for example. I also note that CC 2014 is now a fully 64-bit platform - and it's noticeable in the performance.
If I was publishing to DVDs and the web then CS5.5 (and CS6) would do the job. But if you are shooting say with the new Sony PXW FS7 (as I do now) then you would have issues with workflow in those earlier versions. It depends what you are shooting and with what codecs.
I'm a PC user not MAC, but that really should not matter. I doubt whether you will still be able to get a CS5.5 version, but you may get lucky. The CS6 version looks a higher price if you did qualify for the upgrade option. But you alone need to make that decision as to what you want from your edit and post system, and to what you want to aspire to in your video productions.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Project Files Not Recognised by Windows

Gidday, I hope someone can help with this problem.  Premiere Pro(and After Effects) have worked perfectly on my laptop up until now. Saved PP projects are not recognised by Windows 7. I can open a new project but once I save it, it is not recognised and won't open and I can't reset either as the default programs for those files. The applications are visible in the start menu so it is very strange as all were working fine last week and nothing has been done to the laptop in the meantime.
Anyone else come up against this problem?
    Thanks
    Steve

Steve, I just had this happen as well.
I used the Programs section of the Windows Control Panel to initiate an uninstall.  On Adobe's Unistall setup screen (or whatever it may be called) I selected to uninstall PP only. When it was done I restarted and then installed PP only.  And then it was back to "normal."

  • Premier Pro CS6 AVCHD work around

After installing CS6 and using may applications I removed CS5.  I then discovered the problem with Panasonic AVCHD files being functionally unusable.  After looking at the threads here, it appears I am not alone and there is no word on an target date for a fix.  I decided to use the media encoder to rewrap the .mts files as .mp4.  They are about 25% smaller and everyting appears to work as advertised.   I have the luxury of having computers everywhere and simply set this task up on an idle box.  It takes some preplanning, but I will simply start the process of converting all the raw footage scheduled to edit and wack away at it.
    Is there a downside?
Is there any news on a target date for a fix?

    Premier Pro version 6.0.1

    Hi Guys,
I've got NO problem whatsoever bringing AVCHD files into Premiere Pro CS6. It works great. I can do it all day long.
I've noticed that no one here has mentioned a very basic detail. That is what operating system you all are using. There are some changes around the way that OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) handles AVCHD files, but those changes don't stop CS6 from importing the files. It can however, cause some issues with older projects that were created before installing 10.8, but those can be worked around.
The most common cause for not being able to import AVCHD files (you get a file format is not supported error), is that you haven't activated Premiere Pro CS6 (or you are running in the trial mode). Until you activate, you are unable to import ANY mpeg compressed file. This has to do with paying mpeg licensing fees to MPEG LA.
If you've activated your software and you still can't import AVCHD files, trash the Premiere Pro CS6 prefs file, trash the plugin cache and relaunch the program. Or...call Adobe technical support.

  • Premier Pro CS6, Classroom in a Book....Lesson Files, Help Please.

Hello everyone, new guy on the block here and having problems.
I recently purchased Premier Pro CS6 software and the accompanying book mentioned in my posts title above.
I am trying to work through the book and the associated projects but keep coming up against the dreaded Offline Files problem....that has seemingly been the bug bear of others in the past.
I have read a few posts here of others experiencing the same but still can't seem to solve the problem and it's really starting to bug me.
I downloaded the DVD contents and saved them to my HD in my Adobe CS6 folder as instructed in the book but no media files transfer over during the import into CS6, the shells/wrappers are there but no content, each wrapper say's that the Media is Offline.
So I then go to the location where the files are saved to which is - Libraries, Documents, Adobe, Premier Pro, 6.0, Lessons and then go to the corresponding Lesson file and dbl click and upon opening there seems to be nothing there ??
Can anyone give some guidance as to where I'm going wrong ?
    Many Thanks & Best Wishes
    Harmudge.

Hi Jeff, the actual media content is not available in the Project panel although the wrappers of the files are showing with a question mark in the thumbnail.
I then went to the media browser and located the file 16B_SER5...which I was using incidently because the question marked thumbnail icon was present for that file in the Project Panel, and imported....it copied the file/footage over but not into the already present wrapper, it created another thumbnail....should that happen like that or should it fill the already present wrapper ?
So I then try and link the playable media file by right clicking on the thumbnail, but that option is greyed out in the menu for that file.
I then checked the un-playable media file that I mention above and the option to link media is available for that so I tried that but seem to get nowhere.
I get a windows explorer box come up and then go to my Adobe files in my documents (where the DVD contents are) and go to Lessons, Assets, Double Identity, P2 Media, Contents....I then have 6 folders to choose from, I have looked in the Clip file and it is blank until I change the file type selection that is near the bottom right in the explorer window from P2 Movie (mxf) to all files and then there are files available but the files are ending XML and XMP.
I have then checked the contents of the Video folder and there were MXF files available under the P2 Movie selection but the file numbers do not correspond with the files that I am looking for ?
I then change the Windows Explorer file search to All Files and files with corresponding file numbers are now present but the files are ending in .pek, I then select the 16B_SER5 48000.pek file and then get an Adobe dialogue box come up informing me that File Import Failure, file format not supported.
I hope you were able to follow what I have been trying to explain above, I'm sure it's fairly evident that I am not a computer whizz kid so if you require me to take screenshots etc to clarify what I'm doing I can manage that....lol.

  • I've Got The HDV Capture BLUES From Premier Pro CS6

I am attempting to capture HDV footage from my Sony Z1U camera in Premier Pro CS6.  When I do so, the file type saved in my designated location is an MP3 file, which I know is not correct.  The captured footage never gets into the program, it just remains on the disk as an MP3 file type.  Then when I try to Import that file into Premier Pro from the disk, I get an error message saying "There Was An Error Decompressing Audio or Video"  Does anybody know why a captured HDV file would wind up on the disk with an MP3 type name?
    Thx.

You scared me a bit. I upgraded from Premiere Pro CS3 to Premiere Pro CS6 and I haven't had a need to capture anything yet. So, while I do like using HDVSplit, I thought I would try capturing from my Sony HDR-FX1 just to see what happens.
I turned off the PC, got out the camera, connected the Firewire cable (I blew the firewire port on this camera once. I will NOT do it again.)
I started a new project. Now, the first thing I noticed was that the default is to capture DV. So I changed that to HDV.  See the image below:
After that, it was a simple matter to capture the HDV. I dropped it on the "New Item" button to create a new sequence with the exact right properties. Then I trimmed it a little on each end. It was so cool that there was no line above the clip, meaning that no rendering was required. It never used to be so easy. I then used the Vimeo 1080 60p preset and uploaded it to Vimeo. No video or audio effects. This is how it was recorded.
So, since it worked for me, let's see if we can get enough details from the people having trouble and see if it is user error or a bug I didn't see.
Oh, just in case there are any Disney World fans, or anyone who just loves Christmas lights, here is what I captured.

  • Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system and mov files

We have just installed a new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 editing system with a HP 820Z (running windows 7) 18 core multi drive system.  Our production company has used many mov. files from Ponds.  We were a FCP 7.0 studio (still have the system) but the mov files won't import to our new CS6 System...  Not trying to import from the mac...have them stored on another PC.  We depend on this stock footage for production. Do I need to download a converter?  I just had to produce two spots with a still background because I could not get any of our stock mov files to work...
    Thanks much for any help!

PP does support direct import of Quicktime files that can be played back on the system.
What is the correct error message after import?
Can you playback the files with the Quicktime Player?
For some codecs like DNXHD you have to install the quicktime codec first...

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when I import CS6 project files

I recently upgraded to CC, but every time I try to import my project file from Premiere Pro CS6 into Premiere Pro CC it crashes, or stops working if you like.
This is very irritating as I wanted to make use of the SpeedGrade workflow in the CC packaged between Premiere Pro CC.
My project file is no longer than 1 minute, however is does contain After Effects CS6 compositions, could this possible cause the crash? I have tried to import without these but it still stops working for some reasons.
Also I have no idea where to find the error log for crashes on Adobe software.

I have experienced similar crashes and timeline playback failure when importing a CS6 project into CC or CC 2014. I had to rebuild two projects by hand before I realized it was a bug in CC converting the CS6 project files to CC project files. I don't think this has been addressed yet, but I have had better luck starting projects from scratch in CC, not cross-converting a CS6 project. Although I'm still experiencing issues with multicam projects in CC 2014.
Curious to hear others chime in on this.

  • Premier Pro CS6 and MOD files.

I am thinking of getting Premier Pro CS6 and wonder if it will work with MOD files. My Panasonic camcorder records in MOD format.  I notice that my Media Encoder 5.5 won't work with MOD file so I don't want to spend $$$$ on Premier Pro only to find out it doesn't work tih MOD files either.
    Thanks

Premiere Pro does not support mod files.
Some are lucky by just changing the extention.
    Others have to convert:
    http://gilles.bihan.pagesperso-orange.fr/converio_095.htm
However Premiere Elements does support mod files.

  • How do I export Premier Pro CS6 files for use with Final Cut Pro?

In my cloud version of CS-6, I am trying to export or convert my finished work and take to my
co-editor that uses Final Cut Pro. In "export" on my PrP file, I have the option to export as FCP "with notes."
When I do that, and look at the notes, they basically say "Clip one did not export - Clip two did not..."
I saw a tutorial on the web where they had the option to convert the file in Encoder from PrP file to FCP, but
it is not an option on my Encoder in the cloud. When I try to encode the files as .mov, they are tiny, and don't
    look good.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

You can take the project file and the source files to FCP by exporting it as an FCP XML. Other than that you may have to export the whole project as a quicktime mov or any other editable your co-editors use.
