Premier Pro doesn't load videos
Adobe Premier Pro 5.5.
There is an AVCHD video *. MTS, which cannot be loaded by Premier because "this file has an unsupported compression".
There is also a video .MOV format, which does not open as a video, but only as a soundtrack.
How to fix it? What should I do?
1. Deactivate
2. Uninstall PP.
3. Reboot
4. Run the Adobe Clean Script utility.
5. Reboot again.
6. Reinstall PP
7 Reactivate the software.
Start with steps 1, 3 and 7 only. If that doesn't fix it, you may have to go through every step.

Why doesn't Premier Pro CS6 accept m2P videos?
I have an m2P video that I can import directly into Premier Pro CS4 with no problem and work on but when I import it into Premier Pro CS6 I get the error:
"There was an error decompressing audio or video"
I've tried changing the extension to mp2 and mpg but the result is the same. I've tried converting the file to mpg with TMPGE, excluding the audio, and the result is still the same. There seems to be something is some header that stops Premier Pro CS6 from accepting this file. Another m2P video I have behaves the same way.
Does anyone know what this might be or how I can find it?

Premier Pro CS6 not displaying Video
Premier Pro CS6 is not displaying video. Loads and plays clips with sound and all monitors work but no video displayed, installs them in timeline, exports - just does not display video in program or preview monitors nor will it scrub in the thumbnails (static images only). Just started all of a sudden for no apparent reason. All valid file types, even previous projects that worked fine before display no video now.
If you are on Windows it HAS been known to happen that a Windows Update will cause a video driver to have problems (more information when you ask a question is a good thing http://forums.adobe.com/message/4200840 so people will be able to help)
It is "more usual" to need a video driver update, so good to know that a simple un/reinstall worked for you -
DVD Studio Pro will not load videos
Hello,
Ever since I upgraded the latest Quicktime Update I cannot load video assets into DVD Studio Pro. The program keeps locking up.
I have deleted my DVD Studio Pro preferences several times with no success.
Any Ideas?

Mike KommersmithWhen you try to load video assets from the palette, the spinning ball just comes up. I didnt leave it that long before force quiting. But the poster left if for an hour.
I'm using final cut studio. But it all happened on my imac and macbook pro right after the quicktime upgrade.
I did find a work around, which I posted above. Instead of importing thru the palette, just import by clicking file / import/ asset. But the heck would cause the palette to lock up like that? When you force quit dvd studio it says "not responding" next to the program name. I've tried all different video files on my desktop, one at a time. But I dont think the program even gets that far, it just locks up as soon as you hit the palette area of the screen.
I can import audio, stills ,etc without a problem.
I'm just amazed that noone else ran into this problem yet. -
Doesn't load video after restarting computer or reinstalling iTunes
The first time I installed iTunes onto my computer, I had no problems uploading videos onto my iPod after converting them with Videora. But after I upgraded my computer by installing two new hard drives and reinstalling Windows XP - basically wiping the whole computer clean - I'm not able to upload any videos.
Plus, the podcasts I downloaded previously before the upgrade appear when I thought I deleted them. I tried adding the a video file on the library, but the file would not update.
Is there a way to delete podcasts and the whole content of the iPod?
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Windows XP ProI tried resolving the problem by restoring my iPod video. The process did not run into any errors, but now music and videos can't update. The library recognizes the files, but doesn't update or transfer the files onto the iPod. However, it has no problems optimizing photos.

Premier Pro won't load anymore..

Premier Pro CC 2014 - Apply Video Transition Bug
When you add a Apply Video Transition, it doesn't use the current video I have been editing, it uses what was there. In other words say, I remove some video I don't want and then I Apply Video Transition to the end cut I just made and then you have a new begin of a piece of video. It's still using what I had there before. It should be using what I have now not what was there.

Encore having trouble loading my sequence from Premier Pro CC.
I have made DVD's before with Premier Pro CC and Encore, but today it is stalling when I try to import my timeline from PPCC. It says," Import Premier Pro Sequence. Loading." It will stay on this for hours not moving. Is Something wrong with my Encore? Is something wrong with my sequence?
You can't import a sequence from Premiere CC to Encore CS6, you have to export the video out of Premiere as a Mpeg2dvd and import the two files, one audio and one video, into Encore. Encore CS6 is the last of the Encore releases and will not directly link to any of the CC programs.

Premier Pro CS4 crashes on launch
When I start Premier Pro I get the dialog box with New or Open existing project.
When I select New the dialog box disappears and the program hangs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times including removing use folders.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start looking to diagnose the problem?

I can now give my system spec - summary first then the details as they're rather long.
Gigabyte P55-UD5 motherboard; i5 CPU, 4Gb RAM; 3HDD + 1 SSD.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 loaded on one HDD and on the SSD.
Premier Pro worked OK running on the HDD but not after installing SSD.
Now, even when I disconnect the SSD, Premier Pro doesn't run.
This probably means it's not the SSD as it still doesn't work when it's powered down.
I get the option to "create new" and "open existing"...
If I "open existing" I can search for projects (except I don't have any)
If I "create new", then PP crashes.
I have all the latest Win 7 patches and the latest nVidia card drivers.
Running 1024x768 at 32 bit colour.
I've also run the routines suggested by John T Smith (thanks very much John)
So far no difference.
Is there a logging routine that can be enabled to see what's crashing at the point of failure?

Edit .mts / H.264 file in premier pro and preserve time of recording (typical timedateoriginal meta)

This is what i want to acheive:
My AVCHD camcorder generated a bunch of ,mts files.
I want to merge these into a single file, edit it in premier pro and generate a video in which the subtitle track contains the time of recording.
This is what i can do:
I can merge all .mts into a single .mts with the help of tsmux
I can then extract the timedateorginal meta codes of this file with all the recording dates and times with the help of subtitlemaker (url in my entry in the thread above) and make a subtile .txt file.
I can then add the subtitle track to the .mts file in Adobe Encore and i'm done!
But here is my problem:
I want to edit the clips. I can not do that in encore, i need premier pro for that.
However, if i start to edit .mts in premier pro, it seems i lose the meta data which contains time of recording.
Even if i go the really cumbersome way of editing each original .mts files individually (auch)..I still have the same problem.
HELP !
In my DV days life were easy:
Import the 9Gbps single DV file into premier pro.
edit the whole thing.
export as DV
run through http://paul.glagla.free.fr/fichiers/dvdate_71en.zip and generate a subtitle file which contains the time of recording dates and times for the video.
add subtitle to the video in encore, done.
I appriciate any solution. I don't think i am the only one with this problem. I have googled really hard to find a solution, but have had no luck.

PerSo..for anyone who has the same problem and find this thread, here are my 2pence.
I want to make a home move of our last 5 skiing vacations. I want a subtitle track containing the time of recording information.
I do not want a title overlay on the video, but when the discussion about 'when was that--!?' comes up, i want to be able to turn on subtitle. Simple !
I moved from DV to AVCHD (not because of HD Jim, but the DV camcorder was old, and newer seemed better at the time)
Hence my new problem: I have a bunch of .mts files, i need to edit those in a timeline editor, and get a subtitle track with the recording time.
recording time is in the -mts video meta data called timedateoriginal. To some extend also file attribute date of change (=time of writing to the SD card).
As it seems difficult to keep the meta data once you passed a timeline editor, and the file attribute does not make sense when you put a bunch of .mts files together, I think the best way forward is to find a timeline editor which also has subtitle tracks.
i.e. after steps 1) and 2) in my i have a single file and a .srt subtitle file to match.
I can now use those in a timeline editor.
Hunt is out for which editor, but it seems there are a couple of options. To be tested.
Once the sequence is edited, the new version of the subtitle needed to be exported so that it can be imported into adobe encore together with the final sequence for DVD/blu-ray authoring.
If anyone find a better way,, please let me know.

MacBook Pro freezes when loading applications
My 15" MacBook Pro doesn't load applications - it boots, logs in, and I can get to my desktop.. however, the colored pinwheel comes up, spins for about a minute and then stops. When I try to click anything (from the dock, Macintosh HD, etc.. the pinwheel comes back up, the icon bounces, and nothing happens, or, the app loads veerrrry slow (i.e it takes 15 minutes to load Firefox..)). I can run in Safe Mode, but can't access my network, printers, etc.. Any help? Thanks!!

Have you tried Repairing Permissions? Go to Applications-Utilities-Disk Utility. Highlight your OS, on the left and click on Repair Permissions below.
If that doesn't help, there is no way to know why this is happening. To me it sounds like software and not hardware related. I would backup my data, and do a clean installation. After that I would run Software Update, and then lastly Repair Permissions. Then transfer your data back.
