Premier Pro working seamlessly with Lightroom
I am considering purchasing Premier Pro to replace imovie, since I changed from Aperture to Lightroom.
I have a few questions:
1. Will Premier Pro work seamlessly, allowing me to import photos from LR5 to Premier Pro?
2. Is there an allowance to add voice overs?
3. Can I purchase a DVD or download, rather than enrolling in the creative cloud ?
Thanks.
I might be wrong, but I don't think Lightroom is going to give you the seamless integration with Premiere Pro. Adjustments made using Lightroom are stored in the catalog, not in the image file itself. So it would be necessary for you to export copies of adjusted images to a new folder and then import those into your Premiere Pro project. What many people don't understand is that images are not "in" Lightroom. They are simply stored in folders on your hard drive, and then kept track of (including adjustments) with the Lightroom catalog.
Lightroom can be purchased at many retail outlets, as well as purchased and downloaded directly from Adobe.

I own the 4s and my BT Planttronics Pro works fine with calls but does not work to listen to music?
Any ideas on how to correct this?
Thanks-VitaleyesI don't know what they call it, but my plantronics voyager pro, and my wifes plantronics voyager pro+ will not let you hear music through the headset. My Blueant T1 does support it and plays the music through the deadset.

Premier Pro CS3 crashes with Canon 7D HD files
I am just putting together a promo for a client, shot in HD on my Canon 7D. Everything went fine until 3 minutes into the project when Premier Pro CS3 refuses to render more than 1:30 minutes. (I already changed preferences to "Optimize rendering for Memory") Also the preview window is blanced out White and Black further down the project time line (even after changing back to:"Optimize rendering for Performance". Also now Premier starts crashing everytime I add a sound track. It looks as if the Canon 7D .mov files are too unwieldy for my new 12GB iMac 2,8 GHz Intel Core i7 (OSX 10.6.3).
I need some urgent help please, as my job in in jeopardy.
Should I convert my canon .mov files into H.264 first or what is the best way to work with these files?(using MPEG Streamclip)
Thanks very much for your help.I am probably too late, but if you have Apple Pro Res 422 Codec available in MPEG Streamclip you should transcode your HD files to that and then bring it into Premiere. They will be easier to work with that way.
Good Luck! -
Premier pro exporting issues with AVI
HI everyone
Im pretty new to PRemier pro cs4 so im hoping this is something simple.
Have been trying to export an AVI file from a project
The adobe encoder loads like it should and says complete.
When i go to the file location the file is there but unplayable and show in windows as having a height of 0 and a wifth of 0.
Also FPS is set to 0 also.
However when i encode in FLV or a mobile format the video works.
Any ideas on what im doing wrong ?
ThanksWhile we wait for a MOD to move this to the right place...
Xvid/Divx are output files, not meant to be edited (variations of the MPEG4 codec, often used for Internet streaming video) so, they mostly do NOT edit well (if at all) in any flavor of Premiere, even if wrapped inside an AVI container
To edit a divx/xvid file, or convert to a format that will edit in Premiere
-start at http://www.divx.com/ or at http://www.xvid.org/
-convert http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
>Microsoft video 1
Premiere prefers DV AVI type 2, so try and obtain your source video in that format

What is a great 1TB portable hard drive for a new macbook pro that works great with lightroom?
I want to keep all my photos on the portable drive while working in lightroom. Is there much speed difference between USB 3 and thunderbolt?
You might want to take a look at the LaCie Rugged series.
You can get it in both USB 3 or thunderbolt....yes, thunderbolt is easily 2-3x faster than USB 3.

Will a MacbookPro/Air LR5 work seamlessly with my Win7PC - transfer LRCATs/files?
I have Windows 7 desktop LR5 at home (lots of grunt, very happy) but I'm planning to buy a laptop for travel LR cataloging and basic edits to my NikonD800 files. Am thinking of windows laptop or macbook pro (MBP)
Queries for help from forum experts
1. Does a MBP LR installation allow for the LRCATs etc to be copied seamlessly to my Win 7 home machine or will I get caught up in inconsistencies and grief? ie do I need a windows laptop to harmonise LR with my windows LR?
1B Are there be any issues with copying MBP file previews etc to Win7PC? I plan to use USB3 1tb portable HDDs to transfer content between laptop and PC
2A. I'm thinking MBP 15 inch to get the 16gb memory, so that strikes out the macbook air with an 8gb memory max. Correct?
2B. If a MB Air will work with my Nikon D800 raws, are you MB Air opwners happy with the experience?
3. Considering the MBP do I need the Nvidia graphic processor (which puts me into the right $$$ column on Apple website) or can I be happy with 13 inch or 15 inch without nVidia. Do I really need the graphics processor if I plan mostly to do cataloging and minor edits and keep the heavy duty PS stuff for home PC? My videos to date have been fairly minimal
4. If I go the MBP without processor the final query is 13 inch or 15 inch. I like the 13 inch for portability. I've seen someone comment 13 inch is too small to see all 3 segments of LR unless you hide the left pane. Any comments? your thoughts?I suggest using the Migration Assistant twice:
http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n25773
Testing each time the migration was successful.
Mind you the MacBook Pro will not be able to use any of your Mac OS 9 applications, and is limited to those drivers which are Universal. -
How to make photoshop work concurrently with Lightroom?
Usually I start adjusting in lightroom and then do hard edits in photoshop. When I work with Tiff files in Lightroom its great because I dont have to save my changes as I work on a batch of photos. When I open one of my tiffs from lightroom into photoshop is there a way for the edits that i make in photoshop to be applied to that file in lightroom without saving the file again in photoshop?

Anyone know if Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro works ok with Leopard?
Has anyone installed and used Acrobat 8 Pro in Leopard? Any problems?
Thanks!

Will 2008 macbook pro work with 27" cinema display?
November macbook pro 13"
will this work seamlessly with new cinema diaplay?
also - how come it's not HD but 30" is? thanks.I am using and enjoying my 27" Cinema Display with my October 2008 MacBook Pro 5,1. The display is breathtaking and its operation with my computer is flawless. I strongly recommend that you consider getting an Apple external keyboard and Magic Trackpad to use with your MBP and Cinema Display.
If you have a MBP 5,1 as your post indicates, it has both a 9400M and a 9600M GT GPU, not a 9200M. -
TimeCapsule works fast with one macbook, but slow with a macbook pro
Hey there,
i have a new time capsule 2gb, set up as a sole wireless router in my network. My macbook pro works fine with it but it needs about 3 hours for copying 40 gigabyte of data to the time capsule. Yesterday a friend came over with her macbook and was able to copy the same amount in about 50 minutes. I can't figure out any difference in the two systems. Can you help?
Thanks.

Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
You might try measuring the signal and noise levels that each Mac sees using these instructions:

One possible explanation might be that your Mac has a metal case while the other may have a plastic case. -
Premier Pro CC won't play / render audio or video after today's update
Foolishly I allowed CC to update my software ( CC 2014.2 ) and now it won't play or render video or audio. It will allow me to scrub through and see the video, but the play button just turns to a square and does nothing.. Trying to render anything does even less.
This behavior can be repeated in both in the source window, as well as the program window when I scrub the timeline.
Premier Pro worked fine yesterday, with the same files. I booted onto a back up drive that had my old CC program cloned... And it still works fine.. I think it's safe to eliminate hardware issues as well as file / file types...
I have deleted the Premier Pro app and reinstalled, I have reset the preferences, I have dumped the media cache.
I have tried to set up new files, both on the internal hard drive, as well as an external... ( both work fine with the old system backup )
Still the same NON results...

Promise Technology's Pegasus Storage - will it be ok with Lightroom?
I have Lightroom 3.4 and use a 15" Macbook Pro i7 with 8 Gig of RAM (latest hardware - just purchased) and a Thunderbolt Cinema Display. I am considering purchasing Promise Technology's Pegasus RAID storage as an external drive. http://www.promise.com/storage/raid_series.aspx?region=en-global&m=192&rsn1=40&rsn3=47
My questions are:
1) Will this work well with Lightroom?
2) what would be the best RAID configuration to set this up with? (It will do RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10).
3) I also want to use this as a backup using Time Machine. Can I do that and still set up RAID?
Any advice would be appreciated.I'll let you know when mine arrives early in the new year, ordered two weeks ago.
There should be no problem at all.
Not usre which raid you want and why. I'll be using the Raid 1 set up for mirrored drives. No need to back up for the Promise which will contain only data/images. I'm backing up my new 17"MBP (750GB) to a separate BU USB drive.
I'm getting the 27" dispaly as well - would have liked a matt screen but thunderbolt on the Apple was the swinger for now. -
Premier Pro CS4 crashes on launch
When I start Premier Pro I get the dialog box with New or Open existing project.
When I select New the dialog box disappears and the program hangs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times including removing use folders.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start looking to diagnose the problem?
TIAThanks for the very comprehensive answer .
I can now give my system spec - summary first then the details as they're rather long.
Gigabyte P55-UD5 motherboard; i5 CPU, 4Gb RAM; 3HDD + 1 SSD.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 loaded on one HDD and on the SSD.
Premier Pro worked OK running on the HDD but not after installing SSD.
Now, even when I disconnect the SSD, Premier Pro doesn't run.
This probably means it's not the SSD as it still doesn't work when it's powered down.
I get the option to "create new" and "open existing"...
If I "open existing" I can search for projects (except I don't have any)
If I "create new", then PP crashes.
I have all the latest Win 7 patches and the latest nVidia card drivers.
Running 1024x768 at 32 bit colour.
I've also run the routines suggested by John T Smith (thanks very much John)
So far no difference.
Is there a logging routine that can be enabled to see what's crashing at the point of failure?

CS 4 Dynamic Link to Encore doesn't work most of the time. Encore stops operating after opening and periodically Premier Pro stops working. I'm told that there has been a problem with CS4 when using Dynamic Link to go to Encore and build CD's. Is there a way around this? Is there a patch to correct it?
To build CD's???
What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore.
