Premier Project Damaged

Hello, I am trying to open a project of mine and I get the error message that "The project is damaged and Adobe Premier cannot open it" It may be damaged because I cloded the computer (with reset) as Premier was rendering the specific project. It was a large project. I would like to ask you, if a project has been damaged, is it possible to fix it somehow, so as not edit all the scenes all over again.
Thank you

> I cloded the computer (with reset) as Premier was rendering the specific project
Why would you press the reset button while Premiere was rendering?
Do you HAVE Premiere set to auto-save your project?

  • Why I am being ignored? How does Bridge show if a file is associated TO an Adobe Premier project(s)?

If a video file is linked to a premier project, how does bridge indicate that it is associated (linked) to the projects so i can be 100% sure that it must not be deleted?
I put this threat for weeks and 1 response only. Is it someone out there who can give me a hand?
I just finished a FEATURE-FILM in HD comprised of 40 + different Adobe Premier Projects; obviously many files (or clips) are associated to many projects at the same time, and some files are associated to none. So this is the thing: I need to delete 5,000 useless-not associated clips but I need to make sure that these files that I am deleting are not associated with any of my projects.
I am sure that it has to be a way to allow me to ID them so I can sort them and massively delete the outtakes.
    Ideas?
    Thanks much

Bridge does not show where a file is open.  I have never used Premier, so unclear on what you are doing.
Bridge will show the date file modified, if you have that option enabled in the metadata preferences.  In the filter panel you can sort the current screen by date file modified.  If you modified the clip and saved it you might be in luck.  See if you can locate a group of files with the same date as your project.

  • Premier Project crashing

I am working on a project in Premier Pro CS4 that keeps shutting down on me. Before it started shutting down completely, it would open but wouldn't allow me to play preview files. And whenever I would attempt to render, the audio wouldn't come out. The first message I got was a window saying:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I then received the crash report message:
Adobe has detected that the application Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 has unexpectedly quit.
The files are relatively small - 3 videos I took on a Panasonic GH2 in .MTS (AVCHD) format. Length and size of each file are as follows:
    12:25, 1.93 GB
    3:38, 580 MB
    7:12, 928 MB
    My computer specs are:
    Model: Dell Studio XPS 16
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Service Pack 1
    Rating: 5.9
Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) Duo CPU P8700 @2.53 GHz 2.53 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB
C Drive: 178 GB free of 450 GB
    (Source files on C drive.)
I will soon upgrade my RAM, but I don't think this is the problem since other Premiere projects will open and play.

I use CS5 and the computer I built is described in a link in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694
With Win7 64bit and only 4Gig of ram, even though CS4 is 32bit, there is not enough ram left to allow CS4 the full 3Gig it will use
With only one hard drive, your computer is struggling (see below)
AVCHD requires a quad core CPU for "effective" editing... an i7 is better (see link above... my CPU is "old" but still works well)

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the
orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do
Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct
the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with
your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another
very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software
on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down
    by trying to do everything

  • Help! Project Damaged, All Tracks Disappeared!

My project, which was fine the last time I opened it, now gives me the following messages when I try to open it:
"Minor correction of project has taken place (1)"
    then
    "Warning! Project may be damaged"
When the files opens all the tracks are gone! If I create new tracks and add audio files, they appear for a minute then disappear.
This project resides on my external LaCie 500GB external drive. Other projects on this drive work fine. Creating a new project works fine. I have a backup on my internal drive but an old version. I'm looking at hours recreating the piece. Does anyone know what's happened? Is there any way to recover my work?

Yeah, the project is still there, as are the audio files, thank god. And yes, there are ten backup files but they all are similarly corrupted.
I did find the Undo History and was able to back up a few steps so that my tracks reappeared. BUT: most of the tracks say No Output with the icon crossed out in red and have lost all their inserts and channel strips and basically all their data (and do not play of course). Interestingly the Undo History describes actions performed on "No Output" as the track name instead of, say, "Piano 2."
The last thing I did a week ago was bounce the track (to mp3 not aif, alas) then quit Logic and I haven't used it since. So the project somehow got messed up while dormant. And no, nothing seemed wrong during the bounce.

  • Every Project damaged and can't be opened after reinstall

    Hello,
I recently had some problems with my MacBook Pro and had to reinstall OS X Lion. After doing so, I also had to reinstall all my adobe applications. Everything works great except for Premiere CS5. Now when I create a project and save it it seems fine, but when I try to open any saved project it tells me the project is damaged and cannot be opened.
    What can I do?
    Thanks,

  • Project damaged by updates

I have a problem. I recently uninstalled Pro CS4, reinstalled it, downloaded the latest updates. Now a project in the timeline is damaged. About half of the clips in the timeline now start and stop at the wrong point, their in/out points have been changed by a random amount, though all the clips are the correct length and the transitions all occur at the right points. I have two harddrives with the clips distributed between both, many are duplicated in both HDs. When I first tried to open the project after updating, no picture appeared in the monitor, it said Media Off Line. I managed to find the clips by looking in various places, but as I said half the clips now start and stop at the wrong frame. These faults are the same in all saved versions of the project, and also in the auto-saved versions. To repair all these faults would be a helluva job, especialy because some of the clips I chopped up into many small pieces, removing a frame here and there, changing the speed of some pieces, to smooth out jerky pan shots.
What has happened? and is there any way I can restore the clips to their correct start/stop points?
I didn't rename any of the clips or alter them in any way, except to use a few of them in another project (which is undamaged)
    Has anyone any ideas?

    Charles,
Not directly related to the OP's problem and not even applicable to PrPro, but in my decades with PS, I never had to "trash my Prefs," and felt pretty good about this. One day, while working on a rather large graphic, Java started to download an update. I had missed shutting this function down - my bad. Halfway through, it killed PS, destroyed my image file (luckily a Copy with few edits done). I had not touched the machine from the moment that Java started doing its thing. I watched in horror, as PS crashed. This had never happened in all those years. I restarted PS when Java was done and it was hosed! Trashing the Prefs fixed it, but that image (on the HDD) was also hosed. Guess whose auto update got "fixed" instantly. Unrelated coincidence? I do not know.
Going back, I was installing an NLE update (not Adobe), and Logitech's Set-Point started an update. I'd missed shutting that one off too. Not only did my installation get whacked, but XP-Pro was butchered, my LAN was disabled, System Restore would not work. Norton Ghost could not save my bacon. Nothing worked! Set-Point is history. My wireless mouse works fine without it. It took a low-level format and complete reinstall to get me up and running. This was on a brand new workstation with minimal apps installed yet.
Do these have anything to do with the OP's issue? Probably do not. Do they have anything to do with my shutting down all auto updates? Absolutely.

  • Photos in project damaged ! Help ?

In one of my projects from 6 weeks ago, the images are scrambled. This is to say, I open the project and look at one pic. The pic appears fine, but there is a 'loading' message. Then the image jumps to half size, then it becomes scrambled. If I export the image I get a black pic.
I have checked the originals in finder, they are ok. I have done all three of the rebuild database options at Aperture startup. No more ideas.
I am hoping that someone knows this problem and has an incredibly easy solution.

    Ian,
sorry, no incredibly easy solution - more a "me too".
Are your images jpegs? And does the corruption look like the corruption in this thread? Re: Images getting corrupted?
Then you probably have imported corrupted master image files. During the import the preview generated in the camera is displayed, and then another preview is computed from the corrupted master image file.
I have checked the originals in finder, they are ok.
How did you check this? Did you really display them at 100%, so you can be sure the masters are o.k. and you did not see the camera previews in the Finder? I found that all my backups directly from the card also have been corrupted but looked o.k. because of the good camera previews.
In my case the cause of the trouble was a broken card reader, that was corrupting the images occasionally . After I replaced the card reader the problem has been solved. So if your images are still on the card, try a different way to read the card - different card reader or different cable to connect to your camera.

  • Project damaged - avoid upgrading After Effects in the middle of a project

That is why you should avoid upgrading After Effects in the middle of a project at all cost.
(trying to open 12.1 (CC) project in latest 13.2 (CC 2014) = FAILED)

Ouch.  Just like inadvertantly putting your hand on a hot stove, it's a mistake you only make once.  That's the very small silver lining in this.

  • Extracting audio from premier project is not automatically opening in audition .How to reset this

I was  using the feature of extracting audio from a time line in Premier for working on noise reduction and so on .It used to open automatically on choosing
" EDIT CLIP IN AUDITION"  and on "saving" it was ready in Premier for further action. Now this is not happening. What happened and how do I reset this feature please?

Not a reply but some more input. The culprit is not Safari but iChat, which I discovered just now, having run the app and quit after the person I was inviting wasn't available. I'm grateful for anyone who shed some light on this for me.
    All the best,

  • How long does it usually take to backup Adobe Premier projects?

When you go into the Project Manager and back up the project, so that Premiere copies every file involved to a portable hard drive, along with the project file, so the project can be opened and edited on a different computer, how long does it take?
I am currently backing up a project with over eight hours of footage in the work area so that I can continue working on it from another computer, and the backup does not seem to be progressing. I do not typically backup projects like this, I usually only save a new version of the project file, so I have no idea what to expect, and it seems to be taking a while.

Usually till it is finished, give or take a few minutes.
The question resembles: "How long does it usually take to travel from A to B?"
The answer is: It depends. It depends on traffic jams on the route (what are the specs of your system), the transportation means (what kind of portable hard disk and the interface), the amount of luggage taken along (how much source material and what codec), does one take a rest while en route or stop for gas (what background processes are running), etc.

I tried accessing the account on another computer and am being told "sorry, Files is currently unavailable. We're going to fix it up and have things back toi normal soon."

  • USB failure: "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened." CS2

First of all - yes, I'm using CS2. I can't afford to buy a newer version at the moment, so I'm living in the past.
Second of all -- I am committing several egregious sins that would make my past video editing teachers cringe: I was editing directly off my USB, and I didn't make the occasional iterated file-name save as I ought to have. I realize this is rather poor planning on my part, but my lack of harddrive space (and USB disk space, honestly) dictated my actions more than my better judgement.
After saving a file -- not experiencing any crashes, mind you -- I went to edit one of the unrelated clips in After Effects to import into Premiere, because I had a few fancier things I'd wanted to do before importing it. Upon finishing the clip to my satisfaction and exporting it, I returned to my Premiere Pro project, only to be greeted with the following error:
"The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened."
So, into the wonderful world of autosaves I go (because there is only so much advice I can stand to ignore, and the autosaves are one feature I turn off only when absolutely positively desperate) -- except the autosaves all appear to be similarly affected, much to my dismay.
Advice? Is my work unrecoverable? Is it a matter of looking for USB repair software? Is there some trick I can employ to let it load whatever parts are not corrupted, and fix whatever is? The file certainly seems large enough to contain at least some useful information, though I know that means almost nothing in the world of oh-my-gosh-what-did-I-just-do-fix-this-ack-is-this-the-end-etc-etc computer errors.

OK I've tried to make sense of this an to troubleshoot it myself. I've spent lots of time trying to find a solution relevant to the problem, but so far have not.  Seems time to submit and see what help there may be.
I'm using Premiere Pro 3 on a HP desktop with 3.0 GHz chip, w 4 GB sys memory using MS WinXP. It's sold as a "media PC".
There's a 2TB WD MyBook external drive attached by fire wire to the desktop PC (PC A). The desktop PC has 150GB hard drive and a high end graphics card that supports dual monitors.  I've been editing with this rig over 2 years with no problem.
I have various other external hard drives I've been using with no problem, including another MyBook 2TB, an Iomega 500GB, and 3 or 4 small WD Passport type hard drives with 400GB to 500GB apiece. I have two laptops that meet the system requirements for using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. Both have PPro CS 3 installed.
Recently, I started getting a message when opening PPro projects on this drive using the desktop PC: "project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened".
In the past, this message has happened occassionally.  When it did, I'd retrieve a file from the Premiere Auto save directory and just continue on with no problem.  More recently - this past weekend - I suddenly found all the PPro projects on the 2TB external drive generate the same "project damaged" message when I try to open them.
I have various PPro projects in progress on other external drives used on other PC's. So I opened PPro project files on another drive with the same desktop PC A with  no problem.  All projects on other drives open OK on the desktop PC.
So it seems the desktop PC is not causing the "projects damaged" problem.
Then I used a different PC - one of my laptops that has the same PPro software installed - same version installed off the same disc.  Using the project files on the 2TB - the drive that seems to generate the "files damaged" messages, has no problem opening on one the laptop PCs.  So it appears the 2TB external drive is not source of the problem since it works with PCs besides the desktop.
It would be great to diagnose the problem so I could get a solution, but getting a diagnosis seems to defy logic.
The project files on external 2TB drive - when used with the desktop - don't work
The project files on different external drive, when used with the desktop - work OK
So the desktop is not causing the problem, because PPro project files on other drives work fine on the desktop.
So maybe it's the 2TB drive that's the problem.
The same project files on the 2TB drive - where the "projects damaged" message happens - work OK on either of the two laptop PCs.
The projects on the 2TB drive all open with no problem on the laptop PCs.
Since the project files on drive the 2TB drive work fine on both laptop PC's, the 2TB drive is not the source of the problem either.
Just to be sure, I completely uninstalled the entire Creative CS3 Suite from PC A the desk top and completely reinstalled it.
Same problems, uninstalling and reinstalling the software makes no difference.
o Using PPro project files on the 2TB drive, with the desktop, generates the "projects damaged" message.
o Using PPro project files on the other drives, with the desktop, generates NO "projects damaged" message.
o Using the PPro project files on the 2TB drive with other PCs generates NO "projects damaged" message.
Hope this makes sense. The symptons certainly don't   Thanks for whatever advice and feedback can be shared.  GWDMRG

  • Switching from Final Cut to Premier

Hey. Just switched from Final Cut Pro to Premiere. I've followed the instructions regarding converting project with XML file.
now i can open the project but all files are not connected. for some reason Premier can't locate the files.
Maybe it's because of the files type? (Apple ProRes 422 HQ, and MOV)
Generally, What it a good format to convert from MOV files i created with nikon DSLR before starting a Premier project?
Please save my projects. Thank you!

    Yael,
PrPro will go through MOV files without any difficulty. My standard footage is MOV from Panny GH3 & Nikon D600. Don't worry about transcoding, or worry about the ProRes & MOV files on the same timeline. At the same frame res/rate they'll coexist just fine.
There is a definite difference between hardware needs and what so many seem to think should work. For all the hype about USB3 being just as good as any other external connection ... some USB3 drives on some system's CAN sustain ... a burst ... at the speed claimed. That's ok for much work, but not at all for video. It's SUSTAINED throughput "live" on any particular system with its internal bus & other settings/capabilities and the drive's actual sustained read/write speeds & cache capabilities. The Hardware Forum has a site recommended off it, the Tweaker's Page. Here: Tweakers Page
They have several long articles on drive and asset layout/assignments. Including the results of testing various layouts, as EVERYTHING there is from testing on real machines with their own project files which are heavy effects loaded things that rag the crap out of all systems while another part of their Benchmark files monitors computer hardware usage. There's not the surmise or "I just know how this works" ... what they report is hard data. USB3 just can't sustain the read/write speeds for anything but straight reading of some codecs off disc so there's some usability, as I've learned ... one can say have footage on a very fast usb3 flash drive connected directly into a USB3 port and get adequate read-speeds off it. Or do exports to a USB3 drive, which is again a one-way "communication". Other than that, it's internal fast drives (no "green" drives need apply) such as at least 7500rpm if not 10,000rpm or SSD drives ... or RAID's of say 4 or 5 3TB (or four) drives, which in RAID 0 can actually handle all but system/program files for most things.
Basically, you want to avoid road-blocks & choke-points, places where your data & program/system needs bang into each other and have to wait a while. If you make at least a decent start on that, the type of codec isn't much of a problem. Especially a 1080 MOV ... that ain't nothin'. Think about what a 6k LOG file does to a system ...
    Neil
