Premier Sequence to Audition, no handle at the start of the first clip?

Am I going insane? I've been plugging away at this for hours with latest CS6 downloaded (Au 5.0.2 and Pr 6.0.5).
When I export a sequence to Audition from Premier, the very first clip does not have a handle at the start.
Does it behave the same for anyone else, and is it only me that expects it to have a handle at the start?

Hi shooternz, thanks for the reply :-)
Well, the reason for is that the funciton is supposed to give handles! Give me the handles!
More specifically, I am going in to audition for one reason only - the time is takes for the Noise Reduction to kick in (since it has no pre read). But thats a whole other can of worms (and workaround debate).
Yes, all the other clips have handles :lament:

  • I can import my first clip to the video library, but not the second clip. I tried dragging-dropping and using the "E" key, but only the first clip will show up in the library. I use IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5. with no problems until yesterday.

I can drag my first clip from the New Event window into the Project Library, but not the second. I can highlight the second clip in the New Event window, but it won't "drag". The "E" key works for the first clip, but not the second.I've been using IMovie daily and the problem just appeared. No upgrades to the computer and no new software installed.  IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5

Thanks victoryhat.  I learned some new things from this very clear tutorial.  But it didn't answer my question about why the titles don't stay with the video when I export it.
He did mention something that might be a clue however.  When he talked about importing a title he created as an image, he noted that he was careful to make the image the same size as the video he was adding it to: 1280 x 720.  Since I took the video with an iPhone in the vertical position, my video image isn't the same size and orientation as the titles.
Maybe there is a way I should be setting the screen for this size???  I'll go back and play around.  Meanwhile thanks for alerting me to Gary Rosenzweig's MacMost tutorials.  Very clear.  I'll look for more.

  • How to '..notice the first clipped pixels'?

I'm running PSE 9 on XP with SP3.
I was editting an image and noticed a little 'suggestion' indicator at the bottom right of the window.
It was offering help on using the Unsharp Mask FIlter. So I clicked it and read the article which
was pretty interesting. However, there was something in Step 2 that I did not understand.
Step 2 is to 'Set global contrast'. It suggests creating a new adjustment layer. Then it says
'..dragging the black input slider to the right whilst holding down the Alt/Opt key until you
notice the first clipped pixels.'  When I hold down Alt and then click that slider my image goes
completely white. As I move the slider to the right the image starts to re-appear. What I don't
understand is what I should be looking for to find '..the first clipped pixels.'
Thanks for any help. This article made several suggestions that seem very helpful.

Below is an example of clipped pixels using the levels dialog.
Your photo may not have any clipped pixels. Try it on a photo
that has deep shadows and bright highlights to see what clipped
pixels look like when using the levels dialog.

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
    1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
    2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
    3. Go to
    Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
    Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

  • RemoteObject FAULT handled only the first time

I'm creating RemoteObject and then handling the fault event
    myRemoteObject.addEventListener(FaultEvent.FAULT,
    faultHandler);
    protected function traiterFaute(event:faultHandler): void
    CursorManager.removeBusyCursor();
    mx.controls.Alert.show("An error has occured");
Why this event is only handled the first time ?? So in this

    Is it normal ,

I ended up creating a new RemoteObject on each request. Seems
terribly inefficient, but it's the only thing that worked.

  • Dropping clips into Theme but always using the first clip

Hi, I'm using themes for the first time on my first movie. I am dropping the clips I want into the Reflections - White Open sequence. I initially selected the first, third and fourth clips from my movie to be displayed in the Open element. I later decided to change the first drop be a different clip. After I pulled the clip out, and put another in and the caption changed but the video clip remained as the first video. Is this how it is?

There's a bug in iMovie 6 where video placed in a drop zone is rendered from the start of its Media FILE, not from the start of the CLIP. So if you split a clip in half and drag the second half into the drop zone, iMovie uses the first half.
The solution is to export the second clip to a Full Quality movie and drag that movie into the drop zone. After the theme renders you can discard the Full Quality movie.
(To export just one clip, check the "Share selected clip only" checkbox in the Export window.)

  • Jump cuts to beat when NOT the first clip

Hi I want to add jump cuts to a sound clip that is not the first one in the project.
After a lot of false starts in trying to get jump cuts onto a clip when the music was just
    (a) attached to an exisitng film clip (green underneath the clip)  - Won't work. or
    (b) a pinned - sound clip first, movie clip second but where the sound does not butt up against another background clip (wrapped in purple)  - Won't work
I've got it to work where it is background music - sound first, movie second (wrapped round in green). I've opened up the Clip Trimmer, added the beats on the beat with the 'M' key - highlighted the movie cliip - selected Clip>Jump cut to Beat Markers> chosen a frame rate BUT only where the background clip is the FIRST background.
If you add more songs to a project and go through the same sequence as before the number of frames is not greyed out but the app just doesn't do anything. All the tutorials online only ever show you adding jump cuts to the one and only music track but never to the second one.
This is v. frustating. Sounds like a bug to me.
Is there a way of breaking up the project so that it will play as one continuous film and so allowing different parts of the film to be the first piece of background music?
    Thanks.

  • How can I change the video but continue audio from the first clip?

I have a clip of a guy playing the guitar.  I want to cut away and show clips of the audience..... so how do I separate the audio and video so that we still hear him playing as the video clip changes?  I do hope it's easy!!! :-)  Thank you for any help.

bnn is right. Also make double sure you have turned on the Advanced Tools under the iMovie Menu > Preferences. Choose the General Tab and click the checkbox beside Show Advanced Tools. This will enable that pop-up menu that includes Cutaways as an option.

  • Why does the first clip freeze when the second clip should be playing in iMovie '09?

I'm making a video for my film class and it is due tomorrow. But the thing is that when I play the video through, one of the clips gets stuck on the last second of the previous clip. HELP!!!!!

Thanks, Ann.  As I mentioned in my post, Tushar correctly pointed out that, without a GPU accelerated card (which I don't have - mine is a piece of junk which I will be replacing with a compatible one soon) you must use the software only settings.  I had changed my project over to the 'software only' setting, and I still had the problem.  The value Tushar added was the procedure for clearing the cache.
What I did originally was a newbie error, no argument.  I posted it here for others who may fall in the same hole.  Your reply confirms that, without a GPU accelerated card, use the software only settings (sounds so obvious, yet I missed it.....).

  • Audition only opens the first 20mins59secs of an 6 hours long audio

I have a video of a 6 hours long conference, and I exported it to AIFF format from final cut. When I open it with Quicktime 7, it appears the exact correct length, but when I open it in Audition, it only opens the first 20mins59secs. I tried opening it with Quicktime X, it also only shows the first 20 mins 59 secs of the audio.
Anyone has the same experience or knows the reason? Is it a bug or some setting I'm missing?
    I'm using Audition 5.5 on a Mac, running OS X Lion 10.7.2.

What are the specs of your AIFF file?  That is, bit depth, sample rate, and channels?
    6 hours is 21600 seconds...
At 2 channels, 16-bit, 44100 Hz, that should be 3810240000 bytes, or 3.54 GB which is beyond the 2 GB limit for AIFF files.
I'm willing to bet that Final Cut doesn't have robust bounds checking when exporting AIFF files.  You might be able to read the damaged file more sensibly if you choose a different File Importer in Audition, to do that, choose something other than "All Supported Media" in the File Open dialog:
I'd first try choosing libsndfile to open the file and see if that works.  If that doesn't, choose QuickTime to open the AIFF file.
If neither of those methods work, you can always use the File > Import > Raw Data... command to open the file.  You'll need to tell it what the format is in, and you'll need to remove the samples at the beginning of the file which are actually the header (interpreted as raw audio data though).
Once open in Audition,  save as a file format that can handle more than 2 GB like WAV.  If your file is over 4 GB, use our Wave exporter, but you'll want to choose RF64 in the options which can be more than 4 GB.

  • Clip "handles", not the right word

    Hello -
I'm curious about the edges of sequences and the markers that are on them. I understand inpoint and out point handle, at least I think I do. I've got these clips that won't transition. What are these little triangles on some edges and some without? Of course it appears that both seqs need to them in order to get a transition to take, but I can't figure out what they mean and how to get on on the first clip.
    Thanks!
    Rich

The triangle means the clip has no extra frames to make a transition.
The clip on the left has no triangle which means it has a handle to make a transition.
So in this case there is enough frames to make the transition.
If both clips have triangles there are no handles or extra frames.
Premiere will repeat the frames in order to make the transition.
    But to but:

  • How do I make a clip fade in from white, without affecting / overlapping the previous clip?

    Hi,
The simple scenario is, I have two clips in my timeline. I have the the first clip that ends on a white flash frame. I want the second clip to fade in from white, so that there is visual continuity between the two clips. I don't want to change the duration of the two clips and add any additional frames.
Whenever I use the Fade To Colour dissolve, and simply switch out the black colour to white, which does exactly what I want, the dissolve always affects / overlaps the first clip when you subsequently put them together. How can I have only the second clip fade in from white and be affected by the Fade To Colour?
I've also tried using the compositing opacity handles in the show video animation dialogue but this only lets you fade the clip in from a black background. If I could change the colour of that compositing opacity background to white, so that it fades in from white instead of black, then that would be perfect but I can't see how you can do it? Can that be done?
I'd like the simplest and quickest possible solution, ideally changing the colour of the compositing opacity background would be best but how else can I have a clip fade in from white?
    Thanks,
    Clown Guy

I also have this question. Avid lets you change the frame up/down -  to/from a dissolve point. In other words, I could have a dissolve go "up" at, for example, 5 frames, and then "down" at, say, 15 frames. As it stands now, FCPX only allows you the same amount of frames on either side of the cross-dissolve. (A 30-frame dissolve is split 15 frames on either side of the transition.)
Other NLE's give you the option for a dissolve to occur at the BEGINNING, in the MIDDLE (STANDARD CROSS-DISSOLVE) or at the END of a transition. (Depending, of course, on if you have the "handles" to execute the transition,)
Can we achieve this in FCPX? Is this where we launch the "precision editor?"

  • Taking action only the first time an event executes

I want a certain action to occur only the first time an event handler for a button is called. Is there a simple way to do this?
    Bill F

There are two pretty easy ways to do this.
If you want to continue to trap other events (other event cases in your event structure), use a shift register:
    1. Add a shift register to the loop containing your event structure. (right-click on the left-hand border of your loop and select Add Shift Register).
    2. Wire a numeric constant = 0 from outside the loop to the input (left-hand) terminal of your shift register.
    3. Inside your event structure, in the event case you want to handle only once, put a case structure around the code you want to execute only once. That code should be within the True case.
    4. Add an Equal To 0? function (from the comparison palette) to the loop. Wire the input shift register to the input of Equal To 0?. Wire the output of Equal To 0? t
o the selctor for your new case.
    5. Within the True case of your new case structure, add a numeric constant = 1. Wire that constant out to the output (right-hand) side of your shift register.
    6. Within the False case of your new case structure, wire the input side of your shift register to the output tunnel created by the wiring in step 5.
This way the event structure will keep running and handling other events, but the case you just modified will only run the first time: the first time you get the event, the shift register will = 0 so you'll execute the True case of your new case structure. Within that case, you set the shift register to 1. The next time you get that event, the shift register = 1, not 0, so you'll execute the False case and not the code in your True case.
If you want to stop all event handling after the first event and your event handler is the only thing with its loop, from the event case (for the event you want to stop on), wire a True boolean constant out to
the Stop terminal of the loop containing your event structure.
