Premiere 1.0 Unsupported /damaged file error

I have some avi files that are coming up with the "unsupported format or damaged file" error. I read other threads and downloaded g-spot to see if there was a codec missing, but there isn't. These are just home movies that I filmed using a mini-dv recoreder. I have other files that were taped using the same camera just days before/after the unsupported ones that import just fine, so I don't understand how they are different. I can also view them without any problems using Nero.

With all of the updates and changes to programs like Windows Media Player, Quicktime, Flash and others, it may be time to upgrade to the latest version of Premiere Elements?

  • 40D raw .CR2 files still causing 'Unsupported Image File' error

I have the most recent version of Leopard 10.5.1 and the newest version of Aperture 1.5.6 (2J2). Often times I open a RAW image shot with a Canon 40D (.cr2 file), I get the red screen "unsupported Image File" error message. Color mode is RGB. These were shot with RAW plus JPEG (not SRAW). It doesn't happen on every image shot at the same time in the same way, just some of the images. Can anyone advise why I would still be having this issue so long after Apple is offering 40D support? I've tried rebuilding my library data base to no success. I've tried reinstalling aperture. What next? Getting very frustrated, thanks!

I use Nikons and sometimes get a message like that. This might not be Aperture causing this. Blow out the connector holes on your memory cards and pins inside the cameras where the card connects. If the error is on the same frames all the time reformat your card a couple of times before using and make sure the card is seated properly. Don't turn off the camera immediately after taking the shot but let the camera finish the process of writing the photo frame onto the card.
Have you opened the frames in Preview to check if it see it?

  • "damaged file" error in iTunes digital booklets

Has anyone corrected the "damaged file" error in iTunes digital booklets? I can't open any digital booklet, either through iTunes or the finder.

    Hello artsheffield
Delete the booklet and then download it again through your previous purchased section in iTunes. If that does not work, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • Possible Solution to "unsupported format or damaged file" errors on relink

Premeiere CC. I had a project file made on a MacBookPro OSX, had to make it work on Windows. Red footage: .r3d files. Was using same footage drives (formatted as FAT so could read and write on both operating systems), just moved from Mac to Windows. Knew i'd likely have to relink, but encountered problems relinking some of the media. The linker could find it, the files opened normally in Red Cine X, and could even be dragged onto the timeline. But they wouldn't relink!
Solution was to move my entire footage directory structure, which was at top level, into a brand new top level folder. This worked. I moved everything into a folder called "WindShiv" (call it whatever i assume), then the relinking still had to happen, but it worked this time.
I don't know if there are other solutions regarding folder structure that would also do the trick, or if now that it sees it i could re-move the directory structure back, but at least this fixed it for me so if you are having the same problems i did try moving your footage folders into a different place on your drive(s). Lucky happy cutting to you.

For what its worth. I shot some DV 720x480 in 4:3 and 16:9 with my little DV camera and imported footage into my Avid MC. I repeated my earlier - posted steps and when I created and opened up the project in Ppro, this time not only did the sequence and files open up but my footage was on the timeline and I was able to play it without having to link to my Avid Media files!
When I tried before, all my footage was originated on BetaSP and DigiBeta at NTSC 720x486. Cannot Ppro bring in NTSC 720x486 or does it have to be NTSC DV 720x480
As I mentioned before I am a newbie to Ppro. When I created a new project and brought my 16:9 footage in, the source monitor is 16:9 but my sequence is in 4:3. In the Program Monitor I can click and hold the frame and move the 16:9 around within the 4:3 frame. Why is it not letting me see the full 16:9 frame.  I created the project in 16:9. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • LR3 unsupported damaged files

Since I've switched to LR3 I've been having alot more files come up as unsupported or damaged.  I'm led to believe that its LR3 thats damaging the files. It happens with tiff, psd, cr2 files. Every file, I was at one point able to work with.  Needless to say I'm borderline furious as its been happening to files I've been working with recently and as the gods would have it its been the ones that people want to buy or publish.  I cant open the files in photoshop either after they've been damaged.  Does anyone now why this is happening, or what I can do to prevent it? I'm basically scared to use LR3 as I fear its going to damage another valuable image...

    Hello there.
I'm wondering if you are still having issues using LR3 and the drobo and if you've been able to figure out anything else. I suspect my situation is similar to yours. I have my entire image catalogue in the drobo and very often I get images and sometimes entire folders that become inaccessible/corrupted.
I'm suspecting this has something to do with the fact that:
    a) The drobo sometimes falls "asleep" and when you want to access a folder it may take a few moments to wake up and make that folder accessible.
    b) LR3 keeps a "virtual" folder structure for your catalogue, so even if the drobo is "asleep" and there's no immediate access to certain folders and files, LR3 still sees them and acts as if they were available.
For instance, this morning I opened my lightroom catalogue and tried to move a folder to a new location. The drobo seemed to be lagging behind as it happens often, and when I dragged the folder to its new location it wasn't able to write it because drobo hadn't yet made it accessible. So LR errored out saying that it couldn't access the destination folder. Now this destination folder, which contained thousands of photos, is corrupted and inaccessible.
This has already happened several times, sometimes with individual images and sometimes with entire folders (as in this case). Sometimes a chkdsk /x will fix the problem, but many times it won't and I'll have to recover my images from a backup.
This is causing me a lot of grief as finding the problem, running chkdsk and recovering from backups all the time is a very time consuming process. So I wanted to check if you are still using the drobo and having issues or if you have given up on it as I'm now thiking of doing.

  • Receive "Damaged File" error when trying to open a fillable form from website

When our users try to access a fillable form they now receive the attached error message. The file is not damaged however. I can send the form viai e mail and it works fine. Any ideas?

    Hello,
The PDF is a fillable form that was created in Adobe LiveCycle. It is a rather large file (1800 kb). It lives (was uploaded) on our internal website, which is WordPress. It is accessed as a link. It worked just fine until yesterday. We did come up with a temporary solution, which is to have the form reside on a public drive, and then I linked to it from our web page. The form will open in IE, but not through Chrome or FireFox. Chrome asks for plug in updates. Our company does support Chrome and IE, but the majority of our users use IE.

  • Can't open CS 5.0.4 Premiere Pro because of bin-file error.

    I'm on an:
    iMac
    OS X 10.6.8
    12 GB RAM
    3.06GHz
I've had trouble with CS5 so i upgraded to CS5.0.4 PP and I cant open my project. It's a large project, over an hour long movie. I've spent over 7 grand of my own cash on it and a year of my life. This means the world to me to fix.
whenever I open Premeire it says :
    Reverb
    Can not open bin-file.
i understand that is an audio plug in error and i've been searching for it 10 hours. I know if i find it, remove it from the folder, it will open with all my reverbed audio gone. I'm fine with that, I can not for the life of me figure it out.
    I'm begging for help.
    Thanks,
    Brett.

  • G2 Example in PDF Reference Material gives a Damaged File Error

I've been following the example PDF layouts in the free PDF document on how to create PDFs from scratch and I'm having a few problems. I thought the PDFs I had created were the same as the ones outlined in the examples but I keep getting something like "..file was damaged and now repairing.." pop up for a brief second and then disappear. The PDF (just text right now) then comes up looking fine. Can anyone suggest a reason (or reasons) why I might be getting this? I have the example PDF on hand and can e-mail it if anyone can help me out. I would really, really appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

Rob, you're in the totally wrong forum for this. Maybe try the Acrobat forum?

  • RED Unsupported or Damaged File

I keep getting this "unsupported or damaged file" error when previewing or trying to import RED footage. The footage has been sitting on the same drive same system same project and it just goes out suddenly. So far, this has been happening for over one year and still nobody has figured it out. I think I will have to go back to FCP 7. At least that program is stable.
Adobe, if you are reading this, please email me asap and let me know why this is happening. I have three projects and none of them can be worked on until this is resolved...about to lose my clients now.
    VT
    Mid 2010 Mac Pro
    Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Memory  40 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
    Processor  2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    CS 6 suite
    RED Footage problems only.

I have two Mac Pro Towers, one 8 core old machine, and the 12 core. Strange thing is...the older 8 core machine is doing fine...although slow, it reads the same RED files in Premiere with no issues, but the 12 core machine fails often and when it does, there is no chance of making it work again unless you shut it off for days...
The 12 core machine has a Kona 3 Card and I went to the Kona site to update all the software and plug ins today...no such luck. Still doesn't read RED files in Premiere.
I can send you files but they are HUGE 4K files. And we know the files are not corrupt because the other machines process them fine...so me thinks it might be something within the 12 core machine that is messing up things.
    Your thoughts?

  • Unsupported format or damaged file very sudden

I have been working in cs4 pro on a project for about a month. It is composed of a series of four second clips. There has been no problems with the files at all. I am now getting the media offline red box. When I attempt to link I am getting the unsupported format or damaged file error. This is out of nowhere. Using files stored on an external. I am a curator and have a show Today! anybody out there that can help please?

I also copied the source file to another location and tried to relink to it. Still gave me the same error. How would my files self-destruct spontaneously? I am really confused. My film is completely ready to go other than I can't see the images. Can I export in this state?

  • Corrupting files when 2 premiere stations accessing the same file

I'm working on a Shared Unity RAID system in a post house. When 2 Premiere stations are accessing the same clip, the clip temporarily corrupts, and i get the "Unsupported format or damaged file" error. The file returns to normal one one machine is using it. Certainly not optimal for simultaneous projects. Can this be worked around? Mac based, OSX Version 10.8.4 on Premiere CC

Anything other than Anywhere is not designed to work over a network, and certainly not on the same file at the same time (I don't need/use Anywhere, so I don't know if it will let two people work on the same file at the same time)

  • Error Message: Unsupported format or damaged file CS4

Every time that I try and import my RED ONE footage into Premiere Pro CS4 it says: Error Message: Unsupported format or damaged file. I have downloaded the Redcode installer 1.7 and the Premiere update 4.2.1. I have asked around and searched all of the message boards but I cannot solve this problem. Please Help Me!

  • PE4 Unsupported format/damaged file

I get this message 'Unsupported format/damaged file. One of the necessary components may not be installed.'
I use an Hitachi HDD video camera. It came with image mixer 3 software that I use to import the video onto my PC. It saves the files as mpeg 2 and then in PE4 I can import the media into my project to make videos with.
This has always worked and I just made 6 small videos the other day in this manner. Now I just tried doing this today and I get that error message and the mpegs are unrecognized by PE4. I tried it with the mpegs that I used just 3 days ago and I have the same problem.
I have uninstalled and then reinstalled PE4, I used gspot to make sure I have the proper codecs for the mpegs, quicktime is up to date. I'm not sure what else to try.
Anyone have any ideas? I have some clips that I need to get made.
    Thanks

Any solution is a good solution, djeeper.
MPEGs and video from hard disk cameras can be a bit iffy in programs like Premiere Elements. If it works, great! But sometimes they do work and sometimes they don't. (You can increase the odds they will work by downloading and installing the K-Lite Codec Pack -- but even that's no guaranteed solution.)
If you want a solution that works every time all the time, you'll want to convert any MPEGs into DV-AVIs before you bring them into Premiere Elements, per our FAQs at the top of this forum.

  • Prem Pro 3.2: Unsupported or Damaged File

I get this whenever I import XDCam footage from a LOCAL drive.
I can only import XDCam footage if it's on a NETWORK drive.
The moment I copy the footage to a local drive, Premiere can no longer open the footage, as it displays "Unsupported or damaged file".
This is a new installation of Premiere CS3. I gave up on CS4, uninstalled the whole shebang, and ran the cleanup script, then installed CS3.
Now I've got this weird problem that it can't import XDCam footage if it's on a local hard drive. Loads fine from the network, but the moment it's copied to local drive, it won't load anymore. Many of these pieces of copied footage imported into CS4 last week without error. But they won't load into CS3.
I could have sworn that XDCam footage is not locked to the path that it was captured to with XDCam Clip Browser. One should be able to move it around and still be able to import it to Premiere Pro CS3, right?
    Totally dumbfounded by this anomoly.

Apparently, it's not enough to copy the folder containing the MP4, XML, SMI files, etc. The clip I wanted was just 119MB. But to get the use of it, I found that I had to copy the entire 37GB of root XDCam folder over to the machine's local drive and THEN I could open the 119MB file. Yup.. apparently CS3 needs something that is in the root folder, two levels above the folders containing the actual video.
In messing around with CS4, I'd forgotten that, because CS4 apparently doesn't need those vestigial text files to import the video clip.
Oh well. At least CS3 is running fine. CS4 just would not run at all on this machine.
