PREMIERE 2014 CC - BAD HEADPHONE AUDIO MAPPING

Hey guys -- the new upgrades to Premiere have for the most part been great, but I'm running into a really peculiar issue that just suddenly started. I can play back my timeline just fine through the computer's internal speakers, but when I try to listen through my Beats headphones, it sounds like all the audio is underwater, and most of my dialogue tracks don't even come through. This literally wasn't an issue yesterday morning, it just started. There's nothing wrong with my headphones, I can listen to perfectly clear sound in other programs, it just seems to be isolated to premiere. Again, audio plays fine through other speakers, but I work out of a big office and need to edit using headphones. I'm using the latest version of Premiere CC 2014 -- it says everything is up to date.  Any ideas what this could be? Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Premiere 2014 audio drops at exactly 4:55 min

Been working on a project for a while  (Mac system) and suddenly several clips in the browser stop playing the audio. You can see images in the waveform, but there is no audio playing. To add to the mystery, these clips have one thing in common, they stop at 4:55 min.  I believe I started this project in Premiere Cc and must have converted to Premiere 2014 during a moment of temporary blindness. Any clues?

Jude, The files are 5.0 and 8 gb...but I have done other work, even within this project that we larger.  So, after doing more investigating, these errors seem to all flow from one batch of files...from one particular shoot . So I re-loaded the back up files and all seems to be ok for now...just lost time.  I have been backing up to Blu- Ray and hard drives...just grateful the Blu-ray worked this time!
Thanks for your help.  You did get me thinking about one of the drive I am using is partitioned...and I am not going to do that in the future.  It is odd how all of th aligner interviews stopped working at 4:55. There has to be something to that mystery...

  • TS2771 bad quality audio coming through headphones. Brand new headphones and they work in other headphone ports.

just bought some new headphines. the quality of the audi through them is gargly and ver ver distoted. they are nice skullcandy headphones. i can get good sound when i push in the headphons really hard to the jack. i treid another hack on my phone and the sound is very nice. the problem is on my ipod.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Premiere Pro CC and missing audio tracks for .mts files

    Hello guys,
I used to edit my .mts files with Premiere Pro CC without any issues until yesterday.
Now I import my .mts file (made with a Sony VG900) but Premiere doesn't recognize the audio tracks (that I can hear just fine with VLC).
I tried changing the extension in .m2ts but it didn't work, I also tried reinstalling Premiere but, again, it didn't work and I tried (I was desperate) to install Premiere CS6 just to check if maybe the problem was just about the CC version. Guess what? It didn't work...
I tried also converting the file with Encoder in .mp4 but after the conversion I can't hear the audio with VLC and, of course, it doesn't work on Premiere.
Do you think it's a Premiere issue or a file problem?
I used those same files for other videos (like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1X5vsZ-5yI) and I had no problems. Then I updated Premiere, I moved the files in other folder and the problem came to life.
    Any idea?
(I'm waiting for my colleague to send me a new mts file just to check if I accidentally damanged the old ones).

    A similar problem here..... although......
Take a look at this screenshot
As you will see, the blue marked audio is repeated audio of less than on sec. Certainly not the way it has been recorded.
I think I've got the answer........ (working with Premiere Pro CC, always up to date, Mac OX 10.9.2; Camera: Sony HXR NX3)
    1. Don't copy but clone your flash card to the location where to edit on your hard drive. At the same time: alt+click on external flash card, draw it onto your hard drive location.
(or use carbon copy cloner, which I use for backup and transferring avchd files).
    2. Don't import regularly via the import dialogue box (cmd-i). Instead: use the mediabrowser browser, locate the map "private" (as often standard named),
    3. Via cmd-a (select all): select all videofiles.
    4. click right mouse button and select import.
This way, all the video and audio files will be imported.
If however you have alreade re-used your camera flash card for recordings and don't have access to the 'corrupted' files to be imported into your project, you won't be able to solve the problem. You just lost some of the essential data which were not copied onto your Mac.
This solution I found for my problem may well be the one you are looking for........
Another solution might be to convert the compressed avchd - before importing into your project - into uncompressed .mov filed. However...... you will lose data so this is not exactly what I would prefer if the former described workflow does fix the problem for you.
Please let me know if this works for you or not.
    Good luck!
    Regards,
    Peter

  • Change Default Surround Sound Audio Mapping

Anyone know if there is a way to change the default surround sound audio mapping in Premiere CS6?
For example, when working with six mono channels being sent to a 5.1 submix. I manually set where each of the six go (front left, front right, center, lfe, rear left, rear right). Then I route that 5.1 submix to go to a stereo submix so that I can hear the downmixed audio in my laptop speakers. When my project is exported to a video file, I turn off the last step of routing the 5.1 submix to the stereo submix, so the file has all six channels of audio in their proper place. When I change the 5.1 submix to feed the master output, I get the option to re-select where each surround element should end up in the master output. In our production facility, we have surround in the order I mentioned previously. I noticed that Premiere has the front, then rears, and then center and lfe listed. It is annoying to have to re-select my surround preferences everytime I switch between monitoring the stereo downmix and the surround output.
Any way to change what Premiere sees as the proper order for surround sound channels? I know there's the audio option to change mapping, but when working on a laptop, you only get the left and right speaker, no surround settings there.

that's tied into our entire facility audio spec, and every video file we have would have to change audio mapping, in addition to re-wiring a lot of air-chain devices.
In broadcasting, it seems like it's more common to do surround sound the way we're doing it: L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs. I understand why some might want to do it another way, which is why it would be nice to be able to change it and leave it a certain way. I know I can submit a feature request, I'm just trying to find out if anyone knows how to do it already.

  • Simple audio "mapping" has me stumped

I have mono audio recorded on Ch 1 & 2 of my source video and want Premiere to "map" Ch1 to Ch1 and Ch2 to Ch2. The default seems to be both to Ch1 (see pic). I know it's simple, have tried searching for the settings, but I'm stumped

The HDV was originally recorded on a Sony Z1U a few years ago and digitized via FCP7. I"ve been happily editing with the footage in Premiere 5.5 with no audio issues. So after some sluthing I guessed I still didn't understand all the subtle nuances with the new audio in CS6.
Yesterday I did a test and routed the audio directly through the MacPro line out and it plays on both channels, but combines both, rather than keeping the left/right seperate. When I play the clip in the source monitor in Premiere the meters in Premiere show correctly, not combining them, with one channel being hotter than the other. Yet the audio when routed out the LHi, both analogue and SDI are Channel 1 only.
I also tested changing one (of hundreds of HDV clips) to stereo and then it plays correctly. From the best I can tell the LHi card is simple doing what Premiere is telling it to do.
Thanks for taking the time to post Jim! I'll look at the pan/balance and see, but I'll have to see if I can change all the clips in one go. I guess this is done in the audio mixer panel, at least that's the only way I've seen to do it (and frankly keep forgetting its there). My brain still thinks some like FCP

  • Audition headphone / audio monitoring?

    Hey folks,
I'm curious if Adobe Audition has any easy way to set up headphone audio monitoring? A basic audio passthrough? Basically, so i can hear the levels at the same time i am recording or speaking through the microphone in a pair of headphones. I have a feeling this might be a more complicated question than it seems, because I'm using a USB microphone (Blue Microphones' Spark XLR), so i'm imagining maybe there is hardware latency issues with using USB?
Thanks a lot for your time!
    -Quin

Audition doesn't do any monitoring setup at all - that's down to the software controller for your audio device, although it's possible to send a channel output from Audition's mixer in multitrack mode directly to an output. That will give you a round trip through Audition, and include any effects you've put in the channel -  but it will only be the dry signal that gets recorded.
To do this, you need to find out in Audition's hardware preferences whether there's an output available, and then you have to select to use it in the channel preferences. Yes it will increase latency - probably enough to put you off doing it if you don't have a seriously fast machine. There's no particular latency issue with USB connections - by and large this is all down to the processing in the machine, which has to take your signal, pass it through Audition, and then send it back to the audio driver. That's what takes the time. The really bad news is that this is really only going to work properly with ASIO drivers (minimum latency), and I'm assuming that this is a USB mic. If so, Blue don't appear to have produced any ASIO drivers at all for it. But it's not clear from your original post because you refer to an XLR mic. How is it connected to the PC?

  • Premiere 2014 queue, project does not show up in media encoder

When I queue a sequence in premiere 2014 and media encoder 2014 launches the sequence does not show up in the queue. I can do the same process in cc and it works.

In AME, please try disabling the option on the General tab in Preferences named "Import Sequences Natively." Then close and relaunch AME and double-check prefs to make sure the option remained disabled (we've had a few reports of cases where the setting reverted to Enabled). Now try queuing a job from PPro.
Also, please try dragging the sequence from Premiere's Project panel to AME's Queue, or to a preset in the Preset Browser.
What export format is selected? If you switch to another format, does the job get queued?

  • CC Premiere 2014 crashes on start

CC Premiere 2014 crashes on start. "Adobe Premiere Pro CC quit unexpectedly..."
    retina macbook pro, osx 10.9.3.
Have had to use CS6 for months,
cannot get any CC Premiere version working...
was naively hoping this latest update would fix that..

Thanks Kevin - I have no plugin folders in my premiere CC installation - where would I find the plugins for uninstalling?
    I have http://fxfactory.com
installed on my machine... and it has previously shown up in AE + Premiere... though I can't get Premiere CC to open, nor can I see any Premiere CC plugin folders..
( only folders are : configuration and presets )
I would recommend uninstalling FXFactory as it has been the source of crashes for this release. See the Noise Industries site for any updates. Use their uninstaller. Plug-ins are located here on Mac: User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/8.0/MediaCore/
    sean healy wrote:
Could you also point me to any specific folder addresses where I should try and delete preferences or any other premiere CC files that may be corrupted or need permissions checked etc?
Preferences are located here: User/Library/Preferences/com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.8.0.plist
It's easier just to relaunch with the Shift+Option keys held down until you see the splash screen.

... I'll have to check and see if AE CC does dynamic link to Prem CS 6...
It does not. You must have the exact same versions of these applications in order for dynamic link to function properly.
    sean healy wrote:
There seems to be a lot of users complaining specifically about Prem CC crashing on start - while all of their other apps work fine - it'd be great if Adobe addressed this...
OK. However, crashing on launch can occur for a variety of reasons, including installing plug-ins that are not updated for the version. I am investigating other cases and seeing if there's anything we can do from our side to prevent this from happening. I do appreciate your concern.
    Thanks,

  • Premiere 2014 does not remember and load last sequence open

i'm up to v7 of this edit, but every time i open Premiere, it loads v5, which i had closed during the previous session.
all edits made to v7 are still present, but v7 is closed and v5 is open. if i don't pay attention i start making changes to v5, which kinda sucks.
    anyone else having this issue?
MacPro 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 32 GB RAM
    OSX 10.9.4
    Premiere 2014.0

Mark, it would be immensely helpful that if these workarounds are known the staff report them alongside bug fix reports when new releases are made.
Also the staff said in this thread (Project opens random sequences) that "the issue is fixed" in 2014.2. So no one would assume you still need a workaround for old projects for it to work.
Just a humble request to be a bit more specific with info and help us get back to work faster.
    Thanks!

  • Premiere 2014 Program Monitor extremely slow

    Hi CC Community,
I am running Premiere 2014 on 10.8.4 on a powerful machine with dual GTX 580s.
I have organized my project by film days, meaning each day has its own sequence that I can jump to and scrub through.
The problem I am encountering is this: whenever I switch from one day's sequence to another, the Program Monitor window takes a very long time to update. On the scale of 30 seconds or more. Most of my footage is 2K (some 4K), which my system can handle without issue, but it still chokes up terribly when jumping through sequences.
I just sat here for almost 10 minutes waiting for the monitor to update after closing 15 of my sequences. As I imagine it, Premiere choked on each of those 15 sequences before finally catching up to the day I wanted it to land on. I have two pieces of evidence that support this theory. #1, when Premiere FINALLY caught up with where I had the playhead, I saw a flash of numerous frames that came from the sequences I had closed and also, I monitored my CPU usage and it displayed what seemed to be a series of pretty intense calculations that were not necessary. See below:
Can anyone here, or from Adobe explain why Premiere is unable to efficiently jump through sequences?
I have a 12TB hard drive array that is connected to my motherboard and is blazing fast, so it is not an i/o issue.
My CPU power and GPU power is beyond powerful enough to deal with these projects.
I have not had this issue before with CC - this is the first time I am editing on the 2014 programs though.
I do have Lumetri on my files, but with a yellow timeline, not red.
My files are either .mov or .mxf (from Sony XDCAM codec)
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Sarthak,
I use Lumetri. That comes with the 2014 build though. I see no reason why it should be slowing Premiere down so much.
As I said, these issues didn't exist with Premiere CC. Have any more significant ideas as to why this is happening?
File import is also extremely slow.

  • I am having trouble playing MFX files in Premiere Pro CC. The audio is out of synch. Is there a way to monitor the audio correctly?

I am having trouble playing MFX files in Premiere Pro CC. The audio is out of synch. Is there a way to monitor the audio correctly?
    Many thanks

Chances are the pinnacle is producing .avi files or MPEFG1/2 streams - iTunes may know how to decode the audio but not the video. Download Handbrake and try running the Pinnacle files through it and adding to iTunes - use Universal format unless you have a specific device in mind.
    Keep copies of the originals.
Another option might be to try to install Perian.  Can't remember if the Apple MPEG2 plugin allows MPEG2 to be played in iTunes.

    Trya pram reset:
Power off, power back on holding the following keys before the start up chime.
option, command, P,R (no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times and release.
    Reboot, see if this helps.
