Premiere 2014 Crash on app start

I recently updated my 2014 premiere pro, and now it crashes on the slash screen startup.
the last thing it tries to load is the adobe.ImporterQuickTime
I tried dumping preferences, and uninstall and reinstall, but no luck.
Oddly the old Premiere CC does work.
Any thoughts?

Hi Lightpost,
See if this helps: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin - I have no plugin folders in my premiere CC installation - where would I find the plugins for uninstalling?
    I have http://fxfactory.com
installed on my machine... and it has previously shown up in AE + Premiere... though I can't get Premiere CC to open, nor can I see any Premiere CC plugin folders..
( only folders are : configuration and presets )
I would recommend uninstalling FXFactory as it has been the source of crashes for this release. See the Noise Industries site for any updates. Use their uninstaller. Plug-ins are located here on Mac: User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/8.0/MediaCore/

Could you also point me to any specific folder addresses where I should try and delete preferences or any other premiere CC files that may be corrupted or need permissions checked etc?
Preferences are located here: User/Library/Preferences/com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.8.0.plist
It's easier just to relaunch with the Shift+Option keys held down until you see the splash screen.

It does not. You must have the exact same versions of these applications in order for dynamic link to function properly.

There seems to be a lot of users complaining specifically about Prem CC crashing on start - while all of their other apps work fine - it'd be great if Adobe addressed this...
OK. However, crashing on launch can occur for a variety of reasons, including installing plug-ins that are not updated for the version. I am investigating other cases and seeing if there's anything we can do from our side to prevent this from happening. I do appreciate your concern.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 crashes right after start in Win7 Ultimate. amtlib.dll seems to blame.

Photoshop CC 2014 crashes right after start in Win7 Ultimate. Installed a new graphics card MSI GeForce GT730 and did an immediate driver update. Also completely updated Windows. Bridge and Lightroom 5.5 work fine. After several attempts to get PS up and running, also after checking possible solutions on the web and in this community I was still left with a crashing application.
Then tried a cracked amtlib.dll in the Photoshop directory and PS worked fine! But not able to check in to CC. Then replaced the cracked amtlib.dll with the original and PS again crashed a few seconds after launch. Oh, and yes, I did check out of Creative Cloud and checked in again but nothing worked so far.

After browsing through several sites I finally stumbled upon the message below, posted a couple of months ago in this forum.
This sequence finally was the solution to my problem with Ps crashing after launch.
    PROBLEM SOLVED!!
After dozens of fruitless attemps to solve the problem and many, many hours of searching the web, I stumbled upon a thread in the PS community that helped me fix the problem and made my day (weekend).
The thread was originally posted by MrNameloc here and ALL CREDITS got to him. A public "Thank You" to MrNameloc is also in its right place.
    The solution is as follows:
    Un-install Photoshop CC.
    Un-install Adobe CC.
Go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe and find SLCache and delete it.
Go to: C:\ProgramData\Adobe and find SLStore and delete it.
    Restart.
    Install Adobe CC.
    Install Photoshop.
    Restart.
@Adobe, you might wanna write this one behind your ear just in case it shows up again in the forums... 'cose it will.

  • Premiere 2014 Crashing when I render simple dissolves

Running 8.2.0(65) build. Premiere is crashing in the middle of almost every render of dissolves and sometimes when navigating timeline. I'm having to save my project every minute or so in order to get anything done. This is beyond ridiculous. (one thing to note and don't have any idea if it may be of consideration. Instead of using my two 27" Samsung monitors, I just bought and installed a single LG 34UC97  34” Curved UltraWide Monitor.

I've seen similar fixes offered for this but I've tried all to no avail.
PPro CC 2014 version crashes on startup, right after the splash screen.  Doesn't get to the actual application, just instantly whites out with "Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.0 has stopped working".   Here's the problem details log from Windows:

I've taken the advice of others and uninstalled PPro CC 2014, restarted, updated my Nvidia drives, restarted, reinstalled PPro CC 2014, restarted, attempted to run application but same crash persists.  Others also said something about changing permissions to "something";  I tried changing permissions to the cache folder I use but not sure how relevant that is, nor what to EXACTLY change for permissions, IF that's the problem.
Any advice, experience with this problem, or discussion would be appreciated.  Thank you!
    UPDATE 7/27/14
Uninstalled ALL Creative Cloud components / applications completely,  used Adobe CC Cleaner Tool to clean out remnants of cloud.  Reinstalled only PPro and Media Encoder 2014 and same thing happens for PPro, crashes instantly on startup.  I did, however, get some interesting weird Encoder errors and failures during its installation via Creative Cloud desktop.  Here are some photos of the error log:
I feel that something is wrong from the very start, perhaps something within dynamiclink that crashes PPro / also gives install errors for Encoder.
Any help or thoughts are appriciated!!!

    UPDATE 7/28/14
The preferences suggestions is indeed where the problem was. In my case, there was a Premiere Pro preferences folder that was in conflict with an earlier PPro pref folder under the Windows 7 Sync Center. I guess thats the Windows equivalent of Mac preferences issues, so be sure to check if you have any syncing conflicts, I suppose, lol. Hope this helps anybody with similar problems out there!

  • Direct mode crashes at app start in some Android 4 devices

I've noticed that compiling an APK with <renderMode>direct</renderMode> in the app descriptor (or Processing Mode: "Direct" in AIR for Android settings in Flash Pro CS6), results in the app not working at all in some devices.
In a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 it works fine in Direct Mode, but in two tablets named NVSBL Dragon and Yarvik GoTab Zetta TAB466EUK, it doesn't. All of them have Android 4. After you press the app icon, the screen goes black for 5 seconds, then you get back to the desktop with no error message. This happens every time you press the app icon. I've tried with AIR 3.2 and 3.3 and it always does the same. If the app is in CPU or GPU mode, this doesn't happen.
BTW, I know "Direct" mode is needed for Stage3D, but other than that, I don't really know what's this mode doing. Please, can someone really explain what's "Direct" mode? (so I can begin to understand why it doesn't work in some devices).

It would be somewhat acceptable if Air fell back to software rendering in this case instead of crashing all together. At least we'd have the option of getting better performance on supported devices in the future. My company is trying to decide if the latest Adobe technology is worth while. So far the choice is between an Air for Android App which would trigger a massive CS6 upgrade for a whole department, and making do with older Flash technology in a native webview.
You don't actually need CS6 to use the latest version of Adobe AIR. You can even skip Flash Pro altogether (except maybe for assets) and use, for example, FDT, which has a free version.

Update: I was able to get logcat working using ADB from the command line. Unfortunately only one of the devices I'm currently testing is rooted, and able to do this.
As far as I know, you don't need root to get ADB traces. I've been able to get traces from devices which weren't rooted.
BTW, a developer contacted me and says the "Deferred" just means the fix wasn't ready for AIR 3.3 and it was deferred to the next version. Let's hope they fix it this time.
Everybody which is having this bug, please vote in BugBase, since it's the thing that makes the AIR developer team care about fixing the bug. The more people the better:

That's another bug which also happens only in Android 4, and involves crashes as well, this time when playing video.

    Hi,
Sorry to hear about the experience. Can you please try this:
    Go to the following locations:
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
    Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces and keyboard shortcuts. Wait for Premiere to generate the media cache the first time you launch the project.
Also i would suggest you to make this change if the playback issue continues and see if it works better:
Under File > Project settings > General, change the Video renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only. Click OK and select "Delete Previews"
    Thanks,
    Rameez

  • Premiere Elements 7 crashes when I start to edit clips

I have downloaded Premium Elements 7 and installed same. I have taken a small series of 12 clips to try the software, into "new project (all 12 clips).
I then took the clips into the editing mode, but after dragging the 3 clips the programme crashed.
This has happened several times. Each time a menu pops up and says "Adobe has stopped working. A problem has caused the programme to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available. CLOSE."
I have Vista Home Premium, using a 2GB dual core intel with 160 GB harddrive. Can some one tell me what is wrong please

    Dear Steve,
Thanks for the prompt response. I am having major problems. As you suggested I activated quicktime and then updated this. Then my problems got worse as I was unable to find the clips which were originally stored in Adobe photoshop so could not obtain them. I decided to uninstall PREMIUM ELEMENTS and re-download after restarting my PC. Unfortunately it will not install. it aborts part way throughthe installation
Install shows,  C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\   then Next, then Install, which I click on.
Part way through this install procedure a menu appears
Menu Error 1311. Source file not found and C:\User\Admin\App Data\Local\Temp\wzde 24\data1.cab. Verify that file exists and that you can access it.  Retry and cancel
Checking through the files the last one is wzde 24 but no data1.cab file.
So what else am I not doing or doing wrong.
    Thanks for your assistance

    1) What are you using for source files? Photo? Video? If video, what type of camcorder did the video come from and how did you get it into your computer?
    2) How much free, defragmented space is on your hard drive?
    3) Is your operating system up to date? (Manually going to Windows Update and adding the hidden or custom updates) Do you have the latest version of Quicktime -- which is critical for running this program with any stability (per the FAQs to the right of this forum)? This is particularly important when running Vista.

  • Premiere 2014 CC Crashing - Please direct me to any definitive answers

So I'm having the problem that many seem to be having with Premiere 2014 CC continually, continually crashing.
    I'm wondering:
Has Adobe released any definitive statement as to exactly why this is happening, and exactly how to remedy the situation? I see a lot of random people saying "maybe try this...this might work for awhile...etc. etc. etc.", but in my search through the communities forums, I haven't seen anything official from Adobe. Granted I haven't had time to comb the forums because I'm on a GD deadline and I have to get what work I can done in the midst of this ridiculousness...

Installed Cuda at one point, have since tried to remove it from everywhere.
Application is Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
    Media is H.264 in Quicktime.
Crashes occur during editing. Most commonly what happens is the viewer will freeze up. I'll still be able to move the playhead back and forth, but the image won't move. At this point in 'Force quit applications', it will say that Premiere isn't responding, and I'll force quit.
Less common, but still regular, is that Premiere will crash on it's own, seemingly randomly, with the note "Sorry, Premiere has encountered a serious error etc."
I have almost the same setup but experience none of these issues.
One problem a lot of people had were unexpected behaviors when updating your project file from 8.0 to 8.1, like crashing. Tell me, did you update your project file midway through your project? If so, and it's not too late, is it possible to return to 8.0 to complete your project?
If that is not possible, you may want to try each of the following steps:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe folder preferences are set to read/write in all 3 locations.
    Delete media cache
    Delete preview files
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashing on export using Windows 8.1

    Hello
I am using Windows 8.1 and ever since I did the most recent update of creative cloud for my apps PR CC 2014 crashes every time I export to media encoder, I have found a little work around by opening media encoder and choosing the file I want manually, but as I type this the video is rendering so I don't know if there will be any visual or audio bugs as a result.
Is there a fix for PR CC, 2014 export issue on windows yet?
I did look through the forum a little before writing this but all the other threads regarding this issue are on MAC and I'm running Windows.
    Thanks for any help

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
    ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
    nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
