Premiere 2014 won't playback

My old Premiere CC is opening in 2014, but it will not playback. as far as i know it is registering all of the video/audio files, but neither window will start playback.

  • Premiere Pro Won't Playback Video

I am using Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1 on an iMac OS X 10.9.
Any video won't playback in the preview tray or the other tray (top right). Nothing will playback. This was working a few weeks ago, but now nothing plays back. What can I do? I have already tried reinstalling Premiere and I even formatted my iMac, but to no avail.
Also when I press play, the stop button appears, but when I press it, it doesn't go back to the play button. Please, I need Premiere for work, any ideas?

Are you using external speakers for playback? I have some Genelec's that plug into the computer via firewire, and occasionally I have the same problem you do. To fix it I unplug the speakers from the computer, plug them back into a different firewire port, then restart the computer. You can test if this is the issue by going to Preferences, Audio Hardware, and then selecting either your headphones or internal speakers. If playback works, then try unplugging/replugging your speakers.
It's a hacky fix, but it's worked for me (in fact it worked for this afternoon).

  • Premiere pro won't playback

    Guys,
I've got a problem with premiere, when i start it, the source monitor is white and it wont playback my project. And after a couple of seconds premiere is not responding anymore and quits. I've tried to close the source monitor but still won't playback...
Starting a new project is not solving te problem.
    Reinstalling premiere doesn't either.
    Any ideas???

    Mehmet,
The "white screen" is a classic result of an obsolete video driver.
Let's get that one out of the way first. What is the make/model of your video card?
What is the number/date of the installed video driver?
Is that the latest driver FROM the mfgr's. Web site, say nVidia, or ATI/AMD? Do not rely on the OS, or any utility to tell you if you have the latest driver - check that out for yourself.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere CC 2014 won't playback

    Hi,
I am working on a piece utilizing mostly still images (a mixture of PNGs, JPGs, and TIFFs) which have been animated using the motion properties.  This was originally a FCP7 project that I moved over to PPro via XML when my company migrated to the Adobe CC.  Starting yesterday it won't play back at all; I will press the spacebar to start playback and the play button in the program monitor will flash to the stop icon, like it's trying to play, but then it doesn't do anything.  Sometimes it won't even refresh the program monitor when I move the CTI around the sequence.  I've tried restarting the program and the computer and a few times it would resume refreshing the program monitor when I move the CTI, but it still won't play back.
I am running Premiere Pro 2014.0.1 on a Mac Pro with OSX 10.8.5, 2 x 2.4 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon CPU, 14 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro 4000 GPU with 2 GB VRAM.
Any help you can give will be most appreciated!

    Hi lastminutevp,
Thank you so much for the screenshot. please create a new sequence by making a right click on the Video and select "New Sequence from clip" option.
Check the playback in the new Sequence. If it works copy the complete timeline to the new sequence.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere CC won't playback on my second monitor

I can use the second monitor for putting anything else (like a window) but it doesn't playback the footage I'm using like before. The problem started when I updated Premiere several months ago and I can't find a solution. It does recognize the monitor and it is selected for playback; I've tried turning that off, rebooting Premiere and then turning it on again and nothing happens. Also tried the "Enable Transmission" option, wich is on also, but still doesn't work.

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
-If Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Premiere & Soundbooth won't playback

In both Premiere and Soundbooth, when I click on the play button to have video or audio files play back, it either does not respond at all, or it plays a half of a second and then returns to the point where my marker is.  I can manually slide the marker along the timeline and see video move and hear the audio but I can't seem to have any results in playing back.  I am seeing the same behavior using quicktime files, avi files, mpeg files, and mp3 files--doesn't seem to be related to the type of media.  The files I have attempted to use are all sub 100MB files--sometimes as small as 3.5MB.  I have shut down everything else running and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I am using an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM.  I am using the built-in audio and NVIDIA GeForce GT 130.  OS is SnowLeopard 10.6.5.  Premiere version is 4.2.1.
I do apologize if this has been answered elsewhere.  I have searched and can't seem to find anyone else with this issue.  I'm feeling very frustrated because Premiere is completely useless.
Thank you for any insights into the issue.
    Nate

    Hi-
I am having the same problem with no Program or Timeline playback in Premiere CS3 on a Macmini -  with a 2 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.  Memory is 2 GB.  Bus Speed: 667 MHz.
I've tried un/reinstalling just Premiere, and then entire CS3 Production Premium.  Problem seems worse now.
At first, it just wouldn't play clips, now there are error messages and program crashes, too.
    the error message is: /Buffy/pro/3.0/MediaCore/MediaLayer/Make/Mac/../../Src/Audio/CoreAudioHost.cpp-1553
I've also tried deleting the preference file: com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
The problem occurs with any type of project settings and source material - I've tried all the permutations.
I've also used Disk Utility to verify that the hard drive is ok, and it is, apparently.
I don't know what else to try except maybe reinstalling the OS.
    Any suggestions?

  • Premiere 2014 CC Crashing - Please direct me to any definitive answers

So I'm having the problem that many seem to be having with Premiere 2014 CC continually, continually crashing.
    I'm wondering:
Has Adobe released any definitive statement as to exactly why this is happening, and exactly how to remedy the situation? I see a lot of random people saying "maybe try this...this might work for awhile...etc. etc. etc.", but in my search through the communities forums, I haven't seen anything official from Adobe. Granted I haven't had time to comb the forums because I'm on a GD deadline and I have to get what work I can done in the midst of this ridiculousness...

    Thanks Kevin,
    System is a Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Installed Cuda at one point, have since tried to remove it from everywhere.
Application is Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
    Media is H.264 in Quicktime.
Crashes occur during editing. Most commonly what happens is the viewer will freeze up. I'll still be able to move the playhead back and forth, but the image won't move. At this point in 'Force quit applications', it will say that Premiere isn't responding, and I'll force quit.
Less common, but still regular, is that Premiere will crash on it's own, seemingly randomly, with the note "Sorry, Premiere has encountered a serious error etc."
I have almost the same setup but experience none of these issues.
One problem a lot of people had were unexpected behaviors when updating your project file from 8.0 to 8.1, like crashing. Tell me, did you update your project file midway through your project? If so, and it's not too late, is it possible to return to 8.0 to complete your project?
If that is not possible, you may want to try each of the following steps:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe folder preferences are set to read/write in all 3 locations.
    Delete media cache
    Delete preview files
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.

  • CC 2014 won't import Panasonic AF100 *.mts (avchd)

Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't import Panasonic AF100 *.mts (avchd) files (wrong compression type). Previous version of CC has NO problem importing them WHATSOEVER. Paid CC Windows 7 x64. What's the deal? Thank goodness I didn't delete the previous version!!! Tried out of Explorer on Windows 7 AND from media browser from within CC 2014 - either way it won't import!

One of the things that I noticed is an error logged in the Status column in the Project window. The error message is not very specific, but it says "Error at Importer" when clips are offline.
Possibly a related error report in forums here:
Re: "The importer reported a generic error"
From this post (quoted) three things that seem to work:
    1. Move the files up one folder level, and relink. I've had weird success occasionally with this. Screws up my organization, however.
    2. Change the file name and relink. On a whim, I just changed the name of my file from "MonitorCam-Pt3_ProRes.mov" to "MonitorCam-Pt3-ProRes.mov"...essentially replacing the underscore with a dash. BOOM, clicked in. Why? Only the programming wizards will know.
    3. Open files in AE, and bringing them into Premiere that way.
So, it seems clear that this is an "Importer" error or related to the importer. I am not clear about what the Premiere Importer is - whether it is a component of Premiere, a separate process, or what. And, I'm really unclear about why the importer is needed to work with files that have already been successfully imported, and are now reported as offline.
For me, "use the previous version" is not an option (5-7 workstations, varied platforms and cameras, specfic production workflow built around features only available in CC2014), and what I really need is to get technical information, support, and solutions from Adobe to resolve problems with their applications, when users bring them to their attention.
I am a professional user in a top-ten DMA market and I need these "professional" tools to be given professional level support.

  • Premiere CS5 - Project Monitor playback is jerky after resintall of operating system and CS5

PROBLEM: Premiere CS5 - Project Monitor playback is jerky
This had NOT been an issue prior to reinstalling the operating system and all software.  I have read numerous articles on the forums and have tried everything I can find...with no results.
STEPS TAKEN TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM:
I have scoured the articles here http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=choppy%20video&cat=support&pr oduct=premierepro and others at Cretive Cow
I have installed all updates for CS5 Master Collection, immediately following a fresh install of the operating system and SC5 Master Collection.
I have ensured that sequence settings match resolution and frame rates of footage - the problem persists.
I have tested by importing both standard def AVI files created from tape and high def SONY MP4 files - the problem persists.
I have ensured the latest Video drivers are installed (clean installation selected, so that the Windows default would be removed) - the problem persists.
I have tried the 3D settings in NVIDIA control panel | Program Settings tab... selected Adobe Premiere Pro from the drop down menu | and chaged 'Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration from the value of 'Multiple Display performance' to the value of 'single display performance'; although, I ran two monitors before using this latest NVIDIA video driver and I didn't experience this jerky footage issue - the problem persisted after affecting that change; so, I switched it back.
Since I have 96 GB of RAM, I don't use a pagefile.  A zero MB page file is the same setting I had prior to rebuilding the C:  Regardless of whether I have a pagefile or not, the problem persists.
I have tried creating a fresh user profile, where the user profile is created on the C: drive by default; and, where I left it there on C: to test for the jerky playback in a new PrPR project  - the problem persists.
Regarding the C: (system drive) and why I reinstalled everything, it had become unstable and was locking up.  I ran DISK ERROR CHECKING with the FIX parameter and the system was still locking up on me.  Keep in mind that the System drive is a solid state drive.  Anyhow, I had no choice but to dive in and reinstall everything.  I wiped the system partition of the SSD using quick format and started installing the operating system.  Now, I've read the CLAIM that this cuases performance issues; but, the only place I see issues is in the video monitor playback in PrPr.  Everything else - Office applications...printing...browsing the Internet...works just fine, everything is responsive, whereas, I couldn't do ANYTHING with it before.

    I'VE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM!
    PREFACE:
OK, I am hoping that through this week-long Operating-System-and-Software-reinatalltion excerise of mine, I have revealed something that everyone -- whom have been cursing Adobe over -- can apply to their systems to resolve this jerky video problem within PremierePro CS5 (and quite possibly other versions, too).
If you've read my post above, you've seen all the steps I've taken to resolve the problem.  I've read many posts, some of which have mentioned  hardware upgrade / opitmization steps that one may take to enhance performance, and hopefully resolve the problem.  I've read where people have taken these steps and have still experienced the problem...and then they curse Adobe.  Fer-shame, fer-shame, fer-shame! (nod to Gomer Pyle).
In my case, I knew it wasn't an Adobe issue, as it had worked flawlessly before; and, it wouldn't require a hardware upgrade or reconfigureation, as my system is completely maxed out with two processors, a system drive and a hardware RAID5 array, a CUDA-suported nVIDIA 4800 FX card, and 96 GB of RAM.  bla bla bla, puke...whatever.  Bottom line is this:
It's not a software issue.  It's not and Adobe issue; and Gawd no!  It's NOT a PC vs. Mac issue!  HA HA.  The software had worked swimmingly well prior to the reinstallation / 'lobotomy' I perfomed on the system drive.
    SOLUTION FOR ME:
Download and install the updated drivers for the motherboard.  Mine is an Intel Workstation Board S5520SC.  Intel has an INTEL DRIVER UPDATE UTILITY which automatically scaned my Intel system and identified drivers which needed updating.  A very handy, time-saving tool!!!  Here's the URL: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
The scan revealed two Intel drivers needing an update:
    Intel Chipset
    Wired Networking
    and one non-intel driver:
    Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi
I downloaded and installed these three drivers, rebooted, and tested PremierePro, and was extatic to find this resolved the problem.
If you have a motherboard from another manufacturer, then you may want to navigate over to their wibsite to locate chipset and other updated drivers for your motherboard.
    ROOT CAUSE:
While Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate was able to install certain default drivers during the Operating System installation (keeping in mind that this was done on an Intel Solid State Drive that I formatted using Quick Format) these default chipset drivers apparently weren't current and were ultimately the root cuase of the jerky video playback within PremierePro CS5.
    Peace

  • Premiere 2014 queue, project does not show up in media encoder

When I queue a sequence in premiere 2014 and media encoder 2014 launches the sequence does not show up in the queue. I can do the same process in cc and it works.

In AME, please try disabling the option on the General tab in Preferences named "Import Sequences Natively." Then close and relaunch AME and double-check prefs to make sure the option remained disabled (we've had a few reports of cases where the setting reverted to Enabled). Now try queuing a job from PPro.
Also, please try dragging the sequence from Premiere's Project panel to AME's Queue, or to a preset in the Preset Browser.
What export format is selected? If you switch to another format, does the job get queued?

  • InDesign CC 2014 won't download or install

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 (Mountain Lion?) on a 2011 17" MacBook Pro. I have the Design Standard CC subscription.
I'm getting InDesign CC 2014 Mac files from customers, and they won't open in InDesign CC.
I would install InDesign CC 2014, but don't see a Mac installer in the Adobe Application Manager. (It was automatically pushed and installed to my PC a couple of months ago.)
I suspect I need to upgrade my OS, but I've read that Yosemite is an Adobe-killer, so I'm not doing that!
Mavericks is supposed to be good for Adobe products, but I can't find an installer. Apparently it's no longer available in the Mac App store.
I have a work-around for now, but I can't be the only one with this problem!
We have only two Macs here in my office, both still running Mountain Lion.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks, but I guess I was unclear.
I do have permission to install Apps. I have CC for Teams, I am the administrator.
My issue is that Indesign CC 2014 does not show up on my list of applications in the Application Manager on my Mac.
I also have CC on my PC. InDesign CC 2014 was automatically pushed to the App Manager, I installed it awhile back on my PC. But on my Mac, it's not even available to me.
I've researched it some, and it looks like InDD CC 2014 won't run in Mountain Lion (10.6.8) which would explain why it doesn't show up. Minimum specs = Mac OS X v10.7, v10.8, v10.9, or v10.10, according to Adobe. And I can't find a Mavericks (10.9) installer anywhere. And Yosemite is too new, I'm not going to beta test that.
