Premiere 5 classroom in a book compatibility with Premiere 5.5 demo?

Newby here,
I have Premiere 5.5 demo and am working with a newly purchased Premiere 5.0 "classroom in a book" with DVD lessons. Version 5.0 demo does not appear to be available on the Adobe site for download. I find that when I try and open lesson 1 that it takes me to the folder where I have the lessons on my hard disk, I click on the file and get a message 'file format not supported'. I hit the cancel button in Windows and the file opens up in Premiere 5.5 anyway, but with no pics in the editing windows - as per whats in the manual. So is there a known incompatibility between these two versions or am I doing something else wrong? Thanks for your attention.

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below

Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line
above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project
Also, if that file ends in MOV you need to have Quicktime installed

FONT BOOK Compatibility with Windows

I've just transitioned over to Mac Pro. I was using a particular font in Windowsthat brings up an error in the Font Book. It is an Architect type font I use on all my publications. How can I resolve this please? I've attached a jpeg to give an idea of what I'm after...

We are testing the add-on on multiple system configurations. Please find the details below.
1. Windows XP with SQL 2005 - Upgrader Common runs fine. However when we open SAP Business One after running the upgrader common the upgrade does not happen and SAP Business One displays an internal error.
2. Windows Vista with SQL 2005 - The upgrader common crashes after we provide the login credentials for the SQL Server.
following is the error logged in the windows event log:

Just need to know if there have been any problems with the windows 8.1 update on my model on lap top as im bombarded every few days with a message urging me to update to 8.1 for free fro windows store im just kinda scared cause i dont want to hurt my baby by doing an update that radicle if its not going to work, cause im not computer techyand would be lost if error or crashes happend. So please could someone help me out here.?

From what have I have read on this forum I suggest to ignore it. Plenty of people had issues with drivers as some components stopped working after the update. It's not worth it in case you are happy with the system as it is.

Problem with Classroom in a book

I have been working through the lessons in Adobe Premier Elements 11 Classroom in a book and am having a problem with Lesson 6 "Creating a Picture-in-Picture overlay. the lesson comes with Greenscreen.mov file to be used in the lesson but when I try to use it I get the error message in a pop up "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed. As this is the file downloaded from the CD that came with the book and can't understand why I am having a problem using it.

It appears that my first impression of your situation was correct, that is, another Classroom in a Book corrupt/damaged lesson file as confirmed by nealeh's detailed post numbered 5.
You may want to bookmark this thread and the link to the publisher since you may run into other corrupt/damaged files are you proceed through the book's lessons.
Regarding what you wrote
As a further note I went on to lesson 7 creating transitions. You start by openning Lesson07_Start_Win.prel. It tells me to open the file Lesson07_Movie.mov in the project assets panel and to open and play it in the preview window. When I do that the greenscreen.mov that I could not open in lesson 6 appears to be running in the preview mode but maybe that is because the whold clip is done together as a completed mov file??
That might be explained by nealeh's report that the greenscreen.mov exists in more than one place.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 classroom in a book lesson files "file format not supported" error message

Hey y'all. I have the creative Suite cloud membership and am learning Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and have the latest update. I have an iMac, version 10.8.2 and have been going through the lessons 1-8 so far from the 'Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Classroom in a book' with no problems. So far so good. Then, when I opened Lesson 9 project today, I realized that certain media was off line (see pic below-videos and maps) even though I had been able to open the project. I tried to see if it was a link issue but was unable to select the 'Link Media' option and the system did not give me the option to link media when opening a new project. The strange thing is that I am now able to open some lessons with everything working fine but when I try to open other lessons such as lesson 9 or 10 or 11 I notice media files offline after getting the "file format not supported" pop-up error message when attempting to open a project. It's random as some lessons I had opened previously now give this error message of file format not supported when they didn't in the past whilst others work. I have deleted all the lesson files from my hard drive and reinstalled them from the cd onto my hardrive but the issue persists. Any idea as to why all of a sudden Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is giving the error message "File format not supported"??? when opening the lessons. I have not changed any preferences. I've included some screenshots though I don't know how much help they will be... Is anyone else running into this issue??? Can anyone help???
NEVERMIND. I FOUND OUT ON MY OWN WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND IS NOW FIXED. YAY!

Why were you trying to link a file in the project to the project file itself? Shouldn't it be a video file or something? Like .mov .wav .avi .mp4 and not .prproj

It sounds like the folder you are saving to does not have the proper permission for you to write to it. What OS are you using?

Is the 802.11n download compatable with my Mac Book Pro?

I have a Mac Book Pro with a core duo processor. I was wondering if I could purchas the $2.00 download and make my computer 802.11n compatable. I dont know if I need to get anything new, say a different airport card, or if I can just download the "new" software.

You'd need a new Airport card or ExpressCard for 802.11n. But if you just want it for Internet, don't bother, only for local file transfer, e.g. Time Capsule.

Assets for Lesson 2 in "Classroom in a Book" for Premiere Pro CC?

hey there I'm a rookie and I'm just learning Premiere. I'm using the classroom in a book series and I've come to lesson 2 and the lesson is asking me to import a project sequence from Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer. I don't own either of these programs. should I just skip this lesson. It is quite annoying that the book doesn't just mention that. considering the cost of owing both programs.

I am guessing the project sequences are on the disk.

Thank you, I took it to the Apple store and the genius guy has seen the issue before, I only had to show him one photo and he was on it. Apparently he has booked it in to get the Motherboard or Logic board as Apple call it replaced under warranty.
