Premiere Basic Settings for MTS

A bit new to Premiere but coming up to speed fast.  I have scoured the forums and docs for the following basic questions but have come up empty.  However, I am still unclear on what to use for the basic settings for my project to get me the best results.  Basically I want to create the project in Premiere and output it as an NTSC DVD via Encore.  I have .MTS files from a Canon HG21 shot as either MXP (1920x1080) for some projects and SP (1440x1080)  for others and so when I start a project, I:
leave the Project presets but select the Capture Format as HDV
not sure what to set for the Sequence presets.
Would love any guidanceor pointers to the rights docs.  Thanks!

I guess the HG21 is an AVCHD camera, it definitely is not HDV. You should use sequence settings that reflect the majority of your material. If 2/3 of your material was shot at 1920 x 1080, use that as the sequence setting and just use the rest of your material in that sequence.

  • Basic Settings for BADI

    Hi All,
I would like to set BADI to transmit contracts from SRM to MM and I am going >>>Customizing under BADi --> Follow on documents --> Create Contract in back-end  but then I do not know how to move.
Could you please explain me basic settings for BADI.How to set  and configure ?
    Thanks in Advance,
    #Bill J.

    Bill,
Hi. You would only implement this BADI if you would like to modify the functionality/values of the contract interface to MM.
To do this proceed as follows:-
    1) Press the execute button (As per you navigation in SPRO mentioned).
    2) Specify an implementation name (Start with a Z or Y) - press enter (You will need a developers key from service.sap.com)
    3) Give the implementation a name and SAVE to a transport package
    4) Select the interfaces table and navigate (double click) on the method applicable (CONTRACT_INTERFACE_FILL or CONTRACT_PROCESS_TYPE_FILL)
    5) Enter the code you would like SAVE & activate.
    6) Go back to the implementation (F3 to go back) and activate the implementation (CTRL-F3).
    7) Test and if this works transport the development through the landscape.
    Cheers

  • Basic Settings for Lifecycle planning

    Hello All,
I want to maintain the basic settings of Life Cycle Planning to use Like Profile
    Transaction: /SAPAPO/MSDP_FCST1 - Lifecycle Planning
My question is; is it a must to use 9AMATNR and 9ALOCNO characteristics in our POS?
I have seen the sentence below in OSS note: 354660
**If you are using a characteristic for a product and do not want to use the 9AMATNR characteristic, you must specify the characteristic you would like to use.The 9AMATNR characteristic must exist in the planning object structure if you want to use it as a characteristic for a product.Only then can a LIKE profile be used.In this regard, see the information on the /SAPAPO/FCST_LIKE user parameter in note 350065.**
What I understand from this sentence is that 9AMATNR is not an obligatory characteristic to use in POS for the purpose of life cycle planning.
However when I do not use 9AMATNR I receive such an error message during the maintenance of Basic Settings for Life Cycle Planning.
*Errors have been found in your Customizing settings
*For detailed information, see consulting note #354660
*The basic settings cannot be saved
*Characteristic for product 9AMATNR is not in the planning object structur
So, does anybody know if is it a MUST to keep the 9AMATNR in the POS for lifecycle planning? May be I am doing wrong something else...
    Thanks in advance

While in DP MPOS you are free to choose custom characteristics for location and product, there are certain DP functionalities like Promotion Planning which normally uses 9AMATNR as characteristic for Product. In such cases the DP MPOS in absence of 9AMATNR has an issue. Through this assignment of location and product in the MPOS, system knows the custom characteristic that needs to be mapped to 9AMATNR and 9ALOCNO for product and location.
This is useful during release from DP to SNP also.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Pullaiah,
If you are doing stastical forecasting you have to do following setting,
    1. if you are running forecast engine at aggregated level then while creating planning area, you should define calculation type "p" for forecast key figure (For disaggregating forecast key figure at detail level)
2.Check the forecastong box while design the planning book in initial tab page.
3.Create forecast profile under the resopective planning area(/SAPAPO/MC96B).
This is the basic setting you have to do before running forecast engine..

  • Basic Settings for new BW QA Box

    Hi All,

  • A mac basic settings for FinalCutStudio

    Hi.
I'm planning to buy a mac for editting with final cut studio.
I'm not so sure which one is the best in my case (macbookpro, Imac, MacPro).
I'd like to know finalcut ussers opinion: what are the basic settings a mac must have to operate real nicely FinalCutStudio?
    Thanks

    Actually, neither FullHD.
    FullHD is like Sasquatch.
5D is highly compressed h.264 video, which is mpeg-4 compression.
EX3 is XDCAM, which is mpeg-2 compression.
Not that the cameras can't produce pretty pictures, but they're not FullHD. What is FullHD anyway? If I owned Aiwa, I'd start working on the crappiest camera I could make and call the format "FullHD" and everyone would buy it.
Either camera will produce footage that can easily be transcoded to ProRes or ProRes LT for a smooth post production workflow.
Sounds like you want a MacPro.

  • CS6 Premiere Pro - settings for Canon HV30 ?

I had used that camera under Windows on CS3, then CS4.
I unfortunately purchased CS6 for Mac and got the same issue over and over again - wasting hours trying to capture. Tried it on two Macs (one using OS X Lion 10.7.4, the other Mountain Lion 10.8.4).
On the Lion machine, no matter which capture setting I chose, I get a crash of Premiere Pro as soon as I just even try to playback the tape (controlled through PPro).
On ML machine, I get the message : '' Adobe encxountered a serious error and need to close(......)''
The camera shows ''HDV'' on top of the screen, then on left of screen ''HDB/DV''.
I tried many of the possible options. I tried chosing DV, then HDV - then when the capture setting page opens, I tried most (what appear logical) settings. Even the Canon XF settings. Tried 720p, 1080i30, 1080p30, name it... Still getting the same damn result (no-result) all the times.
My only solution is to use a Windows 8 machine and capture under PPro CS4... then transfer to a Mac to edit the work.  Not a very good use of time... nor of an investment in CS6.
I am going through Firewire 400 in both cases.  And yep, the FW interfaces have been used with other devices - proving the interface is not at cause here.
From what I read in these forums, Canon (but also other cams) are causing such headaches. I'm out of ideas here.  I also read about others that seem to have had success with this same cam. Wonder how you did it (if any of you reads this).
Thanks for any hint or help.
    Rob

    Ann,
thank you for this: i already tried most of this shopping list
As for the setting change: I always turn the cam off before changing setting in Adobe. Changes nothing on the cam directly.
By the way (and so to cut it short on the FW connector, cable and so on on the physical side): i can capture freely and eithout a glitch with iMovie, a $19 application...   Something to get me even happier to have paid the big price for the Adobe full fledge rig....

  • APO - Basic settings for setting up the system landscape

    Hi,
I have a, hopefully small, issue regarding setting up the system landscape for our APO - R/3 environment.
In our test system in R/3 I need to specify the APO release, which is not a problem. The issue I have in R/3 is when I try to save the new setting. The system asks for a workbench request even if the test system has been "opened" by the Basis resource.
I would like to avoid creating a workbench request as we are using an external tool ( HP PPM ) for transport management and I believe I will get into trouble since this workbench request should not be transported further into our production environment. As I have understood from our APO experts the settings must be maintained per R/3 system (development - test/quality - production) as it is pointing to corresponding systems in the APO landscape.
The question is, does anyone know how we can maintain these settings without any workbench request being created?
This is perhaps not a APO question, but I'm not sure in what other forum I should post it.
    Thanks for any feedback
    Br,
    Lars

    Lars,
I have difficulty envisioning any situation when you would wish to make any transportable change (workbench or otherwise) in a test system.  The normal path would be to transport the change from the dev system into the test system.  I am unfamiliar with the third party software (HP PPM) about which you speak.  However, the standard controls currently used in your transport process (third party or otherwise) should limit which transports do and which transports do not get moved into your prod system.
I can think of several ways to approach this problem.  I think you should consult with your supervisor before attempting such changes, to ensure that you are complying with all policies and procedures that exist for your company.  In my company, this type of exception would require creation of special change management docs, and appropriate signoffs by management.
You are right this is not an APO question, it is a Basis question.  For advice on the technical aspect of your question, try one of the Basis forums.  Pick the one that is for the DBM you are using.

  • Basic settings for  translation of workflow language.

    Hi expert,
I have enhanced a workflow in the ITALIAN language in development server now the client transported all the workflow from the development server to Production server which is maintained in TURKISH language. when they check production server in TURKISH language  They cant find  the definitions defined in development server.
it was happened for all workflows. my questions is there any problem in basic setting of two servers for workflow.Or anything needs to change at configuration level.
    Please help.
    thanks
    Raj

    Hi Rajib,
do you know if the workflows were translated?? If so, maybe the translations weren't transported. It is necessary to run a report to include these translations into a workbench transport request.

  • Premiere project settings for camtasia capture

I did a capture in Camtasia Studio and produced it as an mp4 video. Creating a project in Premiere Pro for editing the video, what is the correct preset?
    Thanks,
    jefftho1

Been a few years (and a few versions back!) since I did a project with Camtasia, but at the time there were two record format options, one was an .avi and the other I think was .camrec format.
I always used the .avi format for editing in Premiere. Did your software actually capture as .mp4 or did you convert after capture? If converted, that loses quality, should edit the original capture.
A tip - choose a normal size for the capture. What's normal? Depends on how you wish to export/distribute when completed, but don't use random sizes! This will cause issues later on. Many encoders require the frame dimensions to be divisible by 8. Odd numbers don't behave well. Also, an odd-sized video may not have an equivalent sizing available for export and display. How will the completed video be viewed - computer, DVD, online?
Best advice - do a short sample capture in Camtasia, import to Premiere, then export to desired format. View on device. You don't want to record hours of training to only find at some later step that it's not working out. Been there. Test the entire workflow before diving in.
    Thanks

  • Basic settings for the main window

How do I set a frame fullscreen or minimize it? How can I replace the coffee cup logo in the upper left corner to something other? I have tried to search the API but have not found anything.

I might help yout with the maximized state and the frame icon:
    ImageIcon i = new ImageIcon("c:/test.gif");
    JFrame f = new JFrame();
    f.setIconImage(i.getImage());
f.setExtendedState(JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH);To set the frame to "real" fullscreen (removing the title bar), set:
JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(false);I think, that some of these solutions require jdk 1.4.x

  • Best export settings for HD video to DVD

hello, I now use premier pro cs5, from cs4 on my mac, love it, but I shoot with a cannon XL H1s HD video, my questiion is when viewing video from camera or on the screen in cs5, perfect hd picture, but when I export to DVD, i see in the media encoder if I choose mpeg2-DVD it goes output to 720x480, how do I export to dvd for the best HD seetings for DVD to get a HD playback on the DVD, now I see an OK video on the TV playback, but not the same as the original recording, can anyone help,, thanks in advance for any help.....

I found (via a friend who is experienced in Pr & En) that it all comes down to the export/authoring settings.
In Pr, my export settings needed to be adjusted as follows:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
Preset: PAL Progressive Widescreen High Quality
Selected 'DVD' in the Basic Settings section of the
Multiplexer tab (this creates a single mpeg file rather than a m2v file which has a separate video and audio file)
Selected the highest possible quality (5) in the Basic Video Settings section of the Video tab, changed the TV Standard to PAL (to suit Australian TVs) and then
Set the minimum/target/maximum bitrate settings to 8Mbps (when I set it at 9Mbps, the final file had too high a bitrate for DVD)
In the Audio tab, I selected PCM as the audio type.
I also ensured that the Use Maximum Render Quality checkbox was ticked at the bottom of the export settings window.
    Then I exported.
    Once encoding was complete I opened Encore, started a new project, selected DVD as the authoring mode and PAL as the Television Standard within the Basic settings for the new project. I then imported the final mpeg file as a timeline into Encore, set all the appropriate first play/title button/end play functions as necessary, then I opened the Edit Quality Presets window from the File menu and made the following settings;
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
Presets: PAL DV High quality 8Mb CBR 1 Pass
Basic Video Settings - Quality: set to maximum (5)
Basic Video Settings - Field Order: None (Progressive)
Basic Video Settings - Pixel Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
Basic Video Settings - Bitrate Settings - Bitrate [Mbps]: set to maximum (9)
Basic Audio Settings - Audio Format Settings: Audio Format: PCM
    click OK
Then I authored the DVD and was quite pleased with the result. Still not quite to the quality I was hoping for (i.e. the quality of a DVD movie), but still a significant improvement on my initial attempts using default Pr & En settings.
    Hope it helps

  • Best FCP QT export settings for HD video to Keynote?

I am exporting 3-5 minute long HD video clips shot at 1080i and then deinterlaced in FCP. These short vids will be embedded within Keynote, which is starting to have a problem with these 1gb to 2gb files (when exported at h264.)
HDV already reduces image sharpness it is. I want to keep the quality/footage sharpness up as high as possible. The selected video size ends up being about 1065 x 569, but that is a size, not a sharpness, one of the things I always found confusing when referring to it as "resolution".
So what settings would you suggest when outputting via FCP?

I found (via a friend who is experienced in Pr & En) that it all comes down to the export/authoring settings.
