Premiere basics - export function isn't available

I'm trying to do something that I thought would be easy and basic - open a movie, edit to select a small clip, and save that clip in a format that can be loaded on an iPod or written to a DVD so that the clip can be played later on another computer (loaded from the iPod or DVD).
In the help files, Adobe writes:
Export to iPods, cell phones, PSPs and other mobile devices
You can export a sequence or portion of a sequence into a file formatted for use on Apple iPods, 3GPP cell phones, Sony PSPs or other mobile devices. In Export Settings, simply select an H.264 format preset made for the target device. For a video on exporting video for various media and devices, see www.adobe.com/go/vid0264
Do either of the following:
To export a sequence, select the sequence in the Timeline panel or Program Monitor.
To export a clip, select the clip in the Source Monitor or Project panel.
To specify a range of frames to export, do either of the following:
In a sequence, set the work area.
In a clip, set an In point and Out point.
Choose File > Export > Adobe Media Encoder.
However, the Adobe Media Encoder option is grayed out and I can't select it.
Can someone point me to a VERY basic tutorial on how to open a movie, select a small section, and save it?

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the
Premiere Pro Wiki that will quickly show you how things are done in PPro.

  • How to delete an incomplete download from iTune when "delete" function isn't available?

I recently rented a movie from iTune via iPad Air, the download of the movie never finished. It's still "processing" after 2 weeks. How do I delete this movie from Downloads? I haven't been able to access iTune store since this failed download. The "delete" bottom next to "cancel" is not availalbe on Downloads.

Reboot the iPad and then see if you can delete the stalled download. Try swiping across the progress bar as well after you reboot.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • CS5.5 Question (I'm on trial and this feature isn't available).  1080 60p AVCHD Export Question

I just bought a Sony AVCHD camcorder that shoots in 60p.  The files play great on my mac (VLC) and wonderfully on my PS3.  I also like the 5.1 sound it produces.
I would like to be able to edit the video, crop, transitions, etc. then export to the same format it was originally shot in.  1080 60p AVCHD with 5.1 dolby.
The AVCHD export option isn't available in the trial version. Here are the questions:
#1 is what I am wanting to do possible?  Specifically the 60p part of it.
#2 Is there another mac option?

    Welcome to the forum.
As Jim points out, the DD 5.1 SS SurCode Encoder is available from Minnetonka Audio HERE.
    Good luck,

  • Is there a way to delete (not disable) "Private Browsing" function so it isn't available to my teenagers?

    # Question
Is there a way to delete (not disable) "Private Browsing" function so it isn't available to my teenagers?

It is strongly discouraged to delete nsPrivateBrowsingService.js as it can cause Firefox to malfunction.

  • Premiere Elements 9 Trial Export functionality

    Hello,
I'm trying the Elements 9 Trial (I'd like to change my current 6.5 version) and the File/Export functionality is inactive.
Does anybody know if this is due to the Trial Version or am I missing something in the process?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your feedbacks, Steve,
I don't know the details of the camera the videos are from.
My final need is to transform these .mov files in flv files for an online use.
The tool i use for FLV transformation needs .avi as a source (it could also handle .mov I suppose, but it has to process many types of videos, and the avi format is the common format, otherwise i'll have to split my process according to the type of videos, I hope I won't have to do so).
I'd like to keep the higher frame size possible in order to have an avi source that would be as good as possible, so I'll only have to change my flv settings if, let's say in 2 years time, online standards should require higher quality videos. I hope you understood what I have in mind.

  • Camtasia Poor Quality in Premiere CS4 Export

I am a PC user. One of my clients uses Mac and Camtasia to screen capture his software program, which I need to integrate into a video I am making for his company. The MP4 Camptasia file he sends me looks good. I bring the file into Premiere to edit it, but when I export it, the clip done with Camtasia has very poor quality, while the footage I shot with my video camera looks great.
    Specs:
    Camera: HMC40, PH mode 1080/60i (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression).
    PC: i7 quad-core 64-bit running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, 8 GB RAM.
Editor: Premiere CS4 in the Adobe CS4 Master Collection .
New Sequence setup in Premiere: AVCHD > 1080i > AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic.
    Premiere’s export settings:
    Format: MPEG2
Preset: HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality
Multiplexer tab > Bitrate and Buffering Details: Variable
Video Tab > Basic Video Settings > Quality: 5
    Field Order > None (progressive)
    Profile > Main
Bitrate Settings: Bitrate Encoding: VBR 2Pass
      Minimum Bitrate: 4 (default)
      Target Bitrate: 15 (default)
      Maximum Bitrate: 18.5 (default)
    GOP Settings > M Frames: 3 (default)
      N Frames: 15 (default)
Output summary: NTSC, 1920X1080, 29.97 drop frame (fps), Progressive, Quality 5.0
Note in general: I found that if I set the Bitrate Encoding at VBR 1Pass, I got glitches sporadically.Using VBR 2Pass has solved this.
My question about the Camtasia clip:
    1) How can I get the Camtasia footage to be as sharp in the export as in the original?
    Other questions in general:
    2) Are my New Sequence setting in Premiere correct? AVCHD > 1080i > AVCHD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic
    3) Is my choice to export as MPEG2, HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality preset, the best for the footage I shoot?
    4) Is my choice to set the Multiplexer tab > Bitrate and Buffering Details at ‘Variable’ the best?
    5) Do my Bitrate and GOP settings need adjustment?
    6) Should my Export field order be Upper instead of Progressive?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    The frame rate is 1038 X 882
That is a very odd frame size, and one that probably won't work well no matter what workflow you use.  You asked:
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
how could he better capture and export to match my workflow?
Have him capture and export to match your desired export frame size for the finished project.
    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
How would you suggest I change my workflow to handle the interlaced and progressive issue?
I can't answer that until I know exactly how you intend to deliver your finished video.  Any answers to your other questions will also likely depend on your intended delivery format and media.

  • HT3775 I recently upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and cannot open up .avi files now in Quicktime. I get this error message: The document "ANDREW_McD_MEDIA_VERSION.avi" could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.

I recently upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and cannot open up .avi files now in Quicktime. These same files opened up with no problem prior to my upgrade.  Additionally, I had upgraded to the Pro version of Quicktime recently, but it appears I've retrograded back to the basic version, unexplainably.
I get this error message: The document “ANDREW_McD_MEDIA_VERSION.avi” could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.

    Hi,
I had exactly the same problem & found the answer here  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3219982?start=0&tstart=0 . Download a program called Perian, very easy to download worked a treat. I wish all fixes were this easy - Debbie

  • Premiere Pro Export of AVCHD 'Shaky' Effect

    Hi!
I'm working in premiere pro natively with AVCHD footage. I haven't had any problems editing in premiere, everything looks great, but when I export the sequence I get this strange 'shaky' effect specifically on my effects such as dissolves or text or adding movement to a photo. I made sure 'Frame Blend' is unchecked, I tried clicking 'always deinterlace' and 'flicker removal' but those didn't help either. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Sorry to hijack the thread, as I am in a similar boat. I am working on an ongoing project. I have cut a concert, then created a trailer all done in PP3. I brought in the song files from the concert(quicktime 960x720 raylight encoded) created clips that I wanted to use for the trailer and added some overlay titles. I need to export H.264 and used a custom setup that I have used many times already. When I go to export it gets 3 frames from the end and says "unknown error" I have been reading through the forum and many posts state there may be a corrupt clip. I went through and removed 1 clip at a time from the sequence and exported, every time it will stop. I disabled the text overlays with the same result. I disabled the audio track with the same result. I exported the movie to an uncompressed AVI and started a new project(DVCProHD 720P24) with that and the audio file created in Audition. Tried exporting to H.264 with the same failed results. As I said before I have used H.264 with no issues many times before.
Additional history with this is, earlier this week I encountered the problem of the Media encoder not showing up. I followed the instrucions for the fix and that is working correctly now. I also saw notices of people having issues with various versions of quicktime, specifically v7.4 and higher, I am running V7.6(472)quicktime pro. I was going to revert to 7.3 but on the uninstall it stated that I will loose the pro capabilities(can I just put the serial number back in?), so I did not revert. All other export functions work correctly.

  • SOAP and Export Functionality

How does one enable Export Functionality on a form?
We're trying to use SOAP to load information dynamically into a form running in a browser. Works fine with Acrobat but doesn't work with Adobe Reader 7.0.
I see in the documentation that you need Export rights on the form in order to make SOAP calls. Is this something that can be done with Form Server 7.0 or does it require something else.
    Thanks
    -- Mordechai

Given that SOAP would seem to be a basic tool to create interactive forms, i.e. the classic populate a dropdown list based on information already in the form, it seems curious it wouldn't be considered a core capability when using Form Server to generate interactive forms.
In the Adobe marketing materials the value proposition around Reader Server extensions appears to be related to taking the form out of the browser, e.g. saving it for offline usage, emailing it around for markups, etc.
I don't get why SOAP calls would be disabled in the basic browser connected to a server scenario.

  • Mac OSX: need a batch export function

I am in need of batch export function for PP on MAC OSX. I know that windows based Premiere Pro has Media Encoder that can bring up render queue. Why is that missing here?
I use Premium Production Suite CS5 (educational) and there is Adobe Media Encoder but it encodes only flash files.

You were right. I don't know why but I had this file which let me encode only to FLV file and then I was really confused because I read somewhere that Media Encoder is part of Adobe Flash and is used only by this app.
So I put different file and it worked!
    Thanks!

  • Are the following basic reading functions *really* still unavailable in ADE for VO Users?

    Adobe,
It seems the latest build(ADE 1.8 preview 4)  *still* lacks the following basic reading functions when used on a Mac running OS X Lion 10.7.4.
    1. Inability to navigate and read by paragraph.
    2. Inability to navigate and read by line.
    3. Inability to navigate and read by word.
    4. Inability to navigate and read by character.
    5. Inability to annotate.
    6. Inability to interact with the text of a document (attempting to interact causes a restart of VO.)
If I am mistaken, would you be so kind as to provide instructions for performing these important basic reading functions? If I am not mistaken, can you please explain why these functions are not available and can you also provide an ETA for when you will make them available?
Also, can you please provide an explanation of the following unlabeled elements that are located on the toolbar at the top of the screen when reading an epub document?
    1. Element located to the right of the "Back to Library" button. This element is read by VO as simply "Button."
    2. Element located to the right of the "Text Size Menu Button." This element is reported simply as "Blank, Edit Text."
    3. The element to the right of the item in number 3 is also simply labeled "Button."
    4. The last element encountered on the toolbar is simply labeled "unchecked."

  • "Some Export Functions Were Not Performed"

I am running Lightroom 4.2 on Windows 8 and routinely receive the message "Some Export Functions Were Not Performed" / "File Cannot Be Written" when trying to export. I have 128GB of space available on the drive I am writing to, do not use a "Second Copy", and have full administrative rights to the drive. There were a couple times when I was able to export an image but when trying to repeat the same process they too now fail.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    More detail...
I eliminated GoodSync, Windows 8 Photo app, and Adobe PhotoShop Elements Organizer as the root of the problems as I was still experiencing the inability to export with these services totally disabled.
I still do not know the cause of the problem but when LR4 exports a file that it said it couldn't do successfully it creates an illegitimate JPG file in the destination folder and I am unable to delete the bad JPG file because LIGHTROOM has a lock on it.
I'm wondering if it is a Windows 8 issue.
    Anyone else?

My iPhone 5 won't use 3G when 4G isn't available. I live in the middle of nowhere, but with my iPhone 4 I could use the Internet on 3G just fine without needing wifi. Now I don't get anything unless I'm on wifi. My phone says '4G' but then says 'could not activate cellular data' or gives me the gray google failed because you dont have internet page. I have AT&T if that matters. I just want to get Internet and my email like I used to be able to. Slow 3G is fine with me, but I need it to work on my iPhone 5. Can anyone help me?

Oh ok, thank you! So I just got a bum SIM card when I bought this phone or something?

Try installing Perian or VLC. Some AVIs require a codec which simply isn't available for Mac OS X.
