Premiere CC 2014.1 + SAN: Can't import folders

We used to edit off an of-the-shelf NAS and just recently upgraded to a Facilis TerraBlock SAN.
Now whenever we try to import folders, Premiere won't import anything. The import dialogue shows up briefly, but the progress bar just skips to the end and no files show up in Premiere. Individual or multiple files will import fine if chosen directly, but as soon as anything is nested in a folder or subfolder, it just won't come in. We tried the import dialogue, media browser, Adobe Bridge and drag&drop from Finder. Importing folders from the NAS or local storage still works fine.
We're editing on multiple maxed-out 2013-iMacs (10.9.5) using CC 2014.1. The issue is persistent on all machines and through all versions of Premiere from CS6 to CC 2014.1.
Our current workaround is to import the folders into AfterEffects (which strangely works fine with the SAN) and then copy/paste them into Premiere.
Any ideas how to fix this issue?

I am having the same issue as IronAtin. Folders will not import from our Facilis Terrablock into Premiere CC 2014. This used to work just fine in Premiere CC. Please keep us updated as to any fixes/workarounds. Thanks.

  • Adobe Premiere CC 2014 crashing and can't open project in Premiere CC

    Hi,
Till now I had been working with Premiere CC with no problems. I decided to try out Premiere CC 2014 with a new project, and I regret I did.
I start working ok, but after about an hour of editing, it freezes on playback. And its a much smaller project then the ones I've worked on CC. No color correction and very few effects yet. Its frustrating. I have to force quit premiere and start over again, for a little more time before it freezes again.
I tried to open the project in premiere CC and was surprised that I can't. I can't even save the project it appears from Premiere Pro CC 2014 to Premiere CC, just one version down??
If anyone know a way to do this please let me know. Premiere Pro CC 2014 is not ready yet.
I have a MacPro 5,1 running on 32 GB RAM, with an USB 3 raid drive. It worked seemlessly and pretty fast with Premiere Pro CC, while Premiere Pro CC 2014 gets clogged.
    Many thanks

    Hi, Arjun,
My OSX version is 10.9.2 and I'm using only a Red Giant plug in in two short clips, and a RED Giant transition. I have the newest Red Giant Plug in Versions (for the Premiere Pro 2014 update), they worked fine in Premiere pro CC.
Is there a way to take the Premiere Pro CC 2014 project to Premiere Pro CC?
    Many thanks.

  • Premiere Pro 2014 new install - can't queue exports to AME

I just installed the new 2014 applications today.  Whenever I try to export media by sending it from Premiere Pro to AME it never gets there. The app launches but the job never shows in the queue (even after a very long wait). This process has worked fine for me with the CC apps Premiere/AME until this new install. Also, if I Queue a file while checking "Match Sequence Settings" it works as expected. And, if I directly export from the Export settings dialogue in Premiere, it works fine, even for customized settings (like quicktime/h.264). But, I can't do that using AME.
Not sure if this is an install issue, an AME issue, or related to the permissions issue I had when installing Premiere (had to change permission settings in the Application Support/Adobe folder.
    Suggestions?

By the way, the tech support phone call did the trick. The person on the phone had me delete the old prefs folder and start with an entirely new one. That did the trick. He said it was likely an issue with the dynamic link manager and permissions.

  • Updated to Premiere CC 2014, now I can't export. Error - unknown error.

    Hello -
I recently updated my Premiere Pro to the 2014 version. I opened my project in the new 2014 release and kept editing, but now when I want to export I can't. It fails every time at the beginning of the export and then gives me "Error - unknown error"
I've tried copying the sequence into a new sequence AND a new project. I've tried exporting with all different settings, to no avail. I have cleared the media cache and the preview files just in case. Cannot fix this! Need to export for a client so any help would be appreciated.
Basic doc-style sequence - some AE comps for Titles, some images with the ken burns effect, and 2 video tracks. Shot 720p and trying to export for 720p.
    help!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Does this error come up as soon as you start the export procedure.
Did you try to export it through the Media Encoder?
    Thank You
    Arjun

  • Premiere Pro 2014 Application becomes unresponsive when importing a video from iPhoto

    Hello and good morning!
I shot some sample footage using an iPhone 5. I shot just over a minute of sample footage. I imported the footage via the USB cable and my Macbook Pro 13 (2011).
Following these steps causes the application to freeze indefinitely at the "Importing Files" dialog box.
    1.) File -> Import
2.) Select iPhoto under the Media subsection
3.) Select the movie and click import
The application just freezes until I go to the activity monitor and force quit. Then I get the "Adobe Premiere Pro has encountered a serious error." Someone should look into this bug.
    Additional Info:
Specs of the machine this happened on:
    Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 (i7 2.7 GHz, 16GB, 480 SSD)
Specs of the machine at my home workstation that doesn't have this issue:
    Custom Built (4770K 16GB DDR3 256SSD RenderOutput 2TB SSHD Scratch 1TB WD Black) w/ 3 Dell Ultrasharps
For those of you that are curious. I doing a pilot video project of sorts. A behind the scenes video for a fashion photographer who is a friend. It was my idea since I wanted to try something new. The photographer likes the idea because its something to add to his portfolio about his work. However, for this project I'm basically on my own and I need to produce a viable product before I convince myself to invest in a decent video camera.

Thanks for the reply however, this issue is isolated to the use case I mentioned above. The video imports fine once I copy the file and import the file directly; say I copy the file to my desktop then add the file. I know about the variable frame rate issue however this isn't the case for the iPhone 5. I have encountered that issue with the NVIDIA DVR feature for capturing 3D graphics. (DAWN Demo.)
It seems this may be some kind of permissions issue since when selecting a media file through the iPhoto link in OSX finder dialog the file is located in a library package. The issue does not affect Photoshop, Lightroom, nor Illustrator (CC 2014) when importing media using the same method.
It seems like just a bug that was missed.
I apologize if I may have posted this in the wrong forum. Perhaps there is a technical or bug reporting forum? (I also am encountering another bug with AE linked clips in Premere Pro in OSX that wasn't there before.)

  • Premiere Pro 2014 1 hour mp4 vide0 imports as 12 minutes

I received an FLV from Adobe connect and needed to convert into a mp4 to bring into premiere to edit and join with a few other videos. After converting it is great, however when I import into premiere pro it does not bring the entire video/audio.
I have no ideas how to change this. I used Miro to convert it and have never seen this before. Can anyone help shed light on this?
When I open the mp4 in quicktime or FLV it is perfect and no issues. Thanks!

What I wound up doing for a test was to load the first two frames into Photoshop. The first I manually deleted the Alpha channel, then Saved As a 24-bit .BMP with a different name (a “_NoAlpha” suffix before the sequence number). For the second, I skipped the manually-deleting-the-Alpha-Channel thing and merely unchecked “Alpha Channels” in the Save As dialog, but otherwise the same thing.
I then brought those in, and they worked fine. So, I could presumably make an Action to do this in Photoshop. It’s a workaround kludge and works, but Premiere Pro still needs its Import routines fixed, stat! No video, audio, or image file of any standard format that can be viewed in standard OS and freeware open source apps should be rejected or misinterpreted by Premiere Pro. Pop up a warning, sure.

  • After effects cc 2014 text presets can't import from bridge cc

I'm trying to use the presets for text animation but somehow I get the message that it doesn't support this file format. How come? and how to fix?

    > Any other ideas?
Note the last part of Rick's answer: You can still apply animation presets through the Effects & Presets panel in After Effects.
There is a bug in the After Effects CC 2014.1 (13.1) installer that causes the wrong startup script to be used. We're working on a fix for this now. In the meantime, you can just apply animation presets directly in After Effects.

  • Can I import folders from another computers mail?

I have an iMac with Mountain Lion, and the wife has an older Macbook that won't
take Mountain Lion.  She's thinking of giving the Macbook away, but wants to save
her mail folders to MY iMac.  Is this kind of import possible.  We do have sharing
    set up.
    Thanks

As to the two things in your 2:05 message, here are my recommendations:
    1) Any folders (groups of mailboxes) and mailboxes (groups of messages) currently on IMAP servers should become available to the iPad as soon as it signs onto the account(s) they are on. No further action should be necessary for them.
    2) Any messages currently residing on your iMac (both those inside "On My Mac" and inside the Inbox(es) associated with your POP-based account(s) and POP-based access to dual-mode accounts) should be transferred to IMAP servers where they can be access by the iPad.
As for your AppleID having both an iCloud account and a POP account as per your 2:10 message, the POP mailbox must date from the MobileMe era, since Apple doesn't offer POP access to iCloud accounts. The actual messages would now reside on your iMac (and possibly other computers if you used more than one). This is a good thing, since the MobileMe servers are no longer accessible.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can't import folders only one at a time files. (thousands!)

OK here's the problem: I just reinstalled XP on my computer and when I either add by file or by folder it doesn't show in my library. I have 7,000 songs and I see that that when i dip threw the folders and catch an individual file it will add, but i would quite literally have to do that thousands of times for that to work. Before I wiped my computer clean I just copied my itunes library to an old hard-drive. So its organized the way itunes does it with countless folders if it was just one folder with all those files it would be easy, Ive been researching for hours now and yeah i should of burn it via export library but to little to late for me now. Ugh I just organized my library too! Album art and all! Guess it was naive to think it was as simple as putting it in my itunes folder and abra-cadabra! it be there. Please help and I'll be your best freind.

Ever since the macmail app, changed it's appearence etc.
What are you talking about? Mail hasn’t changed its appearance since Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) was released.
If you’re not using Mac OS X’s Mail, but .Mac mail on the web instead, you’re posting in the wrong forum. The right forum for such questions would be .Mac Email On The Web. This forum is for discussing issues related to the Mail & Address Book applications included with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger).

  • Can't import XDCAM files(.mov) in Premiere for Windows

    Hello.
I have some problem using XDCAM file in Premiere Pro.
Actually I captured the XDCAM file(.mov) from MovieRecorder, which is the ingest software for Mac..(http://www.softron.tv/products/movierecorder.html)
The XDCAM file is opened in Premiere Pro for Mac.
And  I can play the file in QuickTime player for Win but I can't import the file in Premiere for Windows.
How can I import the XDCAM(.mov) recorded from Mac in Premiere Pro for Windows?
Do I have to install any codec or program?
Please let me know any advice.
    Best regards,

    Any suggestions would be appreaciated.
They have a website with support and a forum.  https://www.videocopilot.net/products/action2/
    Looks like cool stuff.
They list compatability with Premier Elements.  Perhaps if you post a request there, you will find someone that has been down the road before you with the combination of the two products.   They may also need to know if an adjustment is necessary for PrE11.
    Good luck!

  • Blurry / Pixelated R3D images in Premiere CC 2014

FYI, for anyone else (like me) who has experienced pixelation / blurry images when viewing certain R3D files on the timeline or in the source window in Premiere CC 2014: this issue can be solved by right clicking on the problem clip(s) in the timeline or in the project files panel, selecting "Source Settings," and clicking "Save to RMD." You'll see the image become fully sharp again immediately.
This blurriness happens even when the still and playback resolution settings are set to "Full" in the program and source windows, and it isn't fixed by adjusting sequence settings. It was still visible even after exporting to Quicktime files, which created a huge headache for us as we tried to figure out what we were doing wrong in our sequence or export settings. Turns out both of them were fine, it was just this "Save to RMD" glitch.
An Adobe staff member replied and said they will fix this in around a month: Red footage pixelated on Import into AE.

Update: Unfortunately it's not all good news.
Trying to render out to H.264 wiht Mercury CUDA still gives a crash rendering with the typically uninformative 'Unknown Error'. Software rendering does not, but it's very slow.
Miraizon Codec and the Premiere native Cineform also crash with 'unknown error'. However I can render out using Cineform Mov at 12bit using my registered copy of Cineform. Not fast, about 1/8 real time.

  • Premiere Pro 2014.2 crashes as soon as I try to do anything. Any ideas?

    Hi there,
My employer just leased a new system for me. Up until last week I had PP 2014 installed and everything ran without issues. Since the new system and installing the latest version of Premiere Pro 2014.2 I can no longer work on anything.
The software will stay open if I start it up and don't do anything. I can even open a project and it will still work. The problem occurs when I try to do something i.e. import a file, open a sequence, rename a title, etc.
Can someone help? If so, please let me know if you need more info from me (see system info below). Thanks.

  • What is the best PC laptop to use with Premiere Pro 2014?

I'm excited that I get to buy a NEW LAPTOP!!!
I'm editing a documentary with tons of footage.  I'll use external SSD drive for files.
What is the best PC laptop to get for editing movies on Premiere Pro 2014?
I can spend up to $1500
Thanks SO MUCH for your help!!!!

premiere will run fine with the 7200rpm hdd. while editing, if your hdd/ssd isn't fast enough it will stutter and skip as it cant feed the data fast enough to premiere. thats with high bitrate footage, if you are using low bitrate footage the 7200rpm might work ok to hold your footage too. odds are that external samsung ssd will be fast enough to hold the media, project cache and any preview files. you shouldn't need another external hdd for export/render.
the ssd for internal will let windows boot faster and let programs open and close faster. once windows is loaded and programs are opened, they load into ram. there is little to be gained after that for ssd/hdd speeds while using most programs.
