Premiere CC 2014 freezes while editing

I'm not sure how common this is, but I know others have complained about Premiere CC 2014 crashing their systems. For me, it freezes after editing for a while. During playback the video will freeze while the audio continues. Eventually the entire program will crash.
Its a shame because there is no way to export this project to Premiere CC, but I can't work this way. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Premiere Elements 10 Freezing while editing

I apologize in advance if this has been brought up before, but I have searched for a solution with no results. Since installing Premiere Elements 10 this week, i have expirenced many freezes with the program that has forced me to exit out of the program. most common occurance is when adding a new clip to time line. after adding, the program stops responding, even if left alone for over an hour. freezing occationally happens when loading projects as well. If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video... read above about codecs
Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

Premiere CC 2014 Freezing during Export

Hey everyone, I tried to look for a post of this issue, but none seem to be quite the same as this. Whenever I go to export my file, my entire system locks up. I've tried leaving it for upwards of 40 minutes and it does not come back. The very few times I have gotten it to export, it goes smoothly, within 5 minutes or so.
I have just last week updated my Premiere CC to the most current update (8.0.0 (169) build).
I am running Windows 7 Professional
the source files are .MOV, but I apologize that's about as much info as I know how to give on that right now.
I am not getting any error message, the system is simply locking up. When I reenter the program after rebooting my system, I do get a failure to launch the program. After that I am able to get back in.
I have tried multiple types of files to export to, and switched up settings as well.
This has worked only twice. 98% failure rate, I'd say at this point.
I have tried while running only Premiere, and I have tried with Chrome open, as well as some other software.
I am using an AMD Radeon R7 200 series graphics card
i have a dedicated 5.9 GB of RAM for Premiere to use
I have an AMD FX-8350 Processor
if anyone can shed some light on this situation it would be fantastic. My free trial is almost up, and if I can't get this to work, I obviously will not be subscribing to the CC services.

Premiere pro 2014 freezes when I try to "insert" clip into timeline

I just upgraded to 2014, 1 out of 4 times, when I try to insert a clip onto the timeline the program freezes and I have to force quit. I thought it might be some sort of conflict with the previous version premiere, so I uninstalled. Still happens. Makes the program completely unusable.

Premiere Pro CS5 crashes while editing 4.5K-RED-Material

Hi there,
I'm editing 4.5K-material with Premiere Pro CS5. After a couple of minutes (mostly after watching sequences longer then 10 seconds) the program crashes. Windows 7 tells me that "ImporterREDServer.exe" doesn't work anymore and then Premiere freezes. I doubt that it is a performance problem, because with CS4 and regular 4K-RED-material I haven't had any problems on the same PC. I deinstalled CS5 several times (with Cleanupscript and everything) and re-installed it, but the problem remained the same.
I would really appreciate some help or any idea what the problem could be. Thanks in advance!

Well, well. After many tests with other platforms we came to the conclusion that it was not Premiere Pro that caused problems but the material itself. This is some kind of a worst case scenerio. In the process of copying the data onto hdds some frames within the data got damaged and causes Premiere to crash. Since the data on both discs is corrupt differently we now try to rebuild as many files as possible. Yet there will be clips that can't be saved. Anyhow. There will be a film and that's the most important thing.

Premiere Pro CC freezes while exporting

Premiere Pro CC on a MacBook Pro with an OSX 10.7.4 My source footage is a .mov file shot on a Cannon 7D, 1080p and I am trying to export to an H.264 format in 720p/VBR, 1 Pass with a target and max bitrate of 6. Once the export gets to about 60% it freezes and hangs there then the Mac colorful wheels spins.
This use to work properly for me and I am not sure why it is doing this now. Any ideas or suggestions as to why and what I can do?

I started using CC a while back and have done most of the work on this project in CC. I believe i may be able to finish it in premiere pro cc. At the moment i have the project queued up and rendering.. Its taking a while, but i think it will work. Knowing the issue brings me a lot of relief! I was worried that it was just a problem with premiere. Thank you for you help! That issue is solved!

Camera RAW - freezing while editing image and also wont update to new version

I moved from Mac 10.6.8 computer to a new Mac 10.10 computer. When I did, I transfer of all my files through data migration and it moved photoshop and bridge over for me without having to reinstall. Which was good because I do not have the disc anymore. My Adobe version is CS5. The problem I am having is that when I open large amounts of files within camera RAW (like anything over 15), the camera RAW program freezes. I then have to shut it down and reopen it again. I made sure to try other folders and files and it has happened over 6 times in different locations and different files and different amount of files opening. Any ideas? I noticed that maybe I needed to update my Adobe application because of the computer move, but when I went to the help menu and update, it goes through the entire process of updating all Adobe Applications and fails giving an error message only at the end saying, " There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
HELP!

"Migrating", transferring or copying applications is not just asking for trouble, it's demanding trouble.
Always install from scratch, from the original media, CD/DVD or download.

My Flash Pro CC 2014 freezes while I'm working every single time and I can't figure out why

I just bought Flash Pro CC about a month ago, and every time I open it and start using it, it freezes and I can't click on anything in the program or even close out of it normally. I have to use Task Manager and force it closed. I doubt that its my hardware, as I ran previous Flash Pros on it in the past with no problem. Is anyone else having this issue?

You might try to remove the preferences file from Flash, but I don't think that will solve the problem. You may need to resort to a clean installation: Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

Premiere CC 2014 Freezing / Crashing / Not opening Mac Pro 10.10

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. If I try creating a new project it just crashes. "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere to shot down." If I try to open an old project, I get a blank dialogue box. Both situations require a force quit.

It turns out its the Renderer.
If you can open Premiere, got to File > Project Settings > General > Look for an option that says "Renderer" Change that to Software Only.

Premiere CC 2014 Freeing on Export

Premiere CC 2014 Freezing at 37% everytimr I try to export on Export running on Windows. Wha could be the problem.

Well - as for my original problem -
I’ve made some testing and for now had no real progress as far as normal exporting.
1 .The mercury GPU is working on all testing
2. For a 75 minutes of Panasonic MTS with very basic transitions - exporting to AVI DV PAL wide and to MPEG2-DVD Pal - more the 3 hours
3. Tried same footage with maximum render quality - same results.
4. Tried with use previews - same results. (The project has the yellow line; I did not try to render into green)
5. In some cases, when trying to export to other formats, I received “error compiling movie” this seems to be related to the maximum render quality switch - I have a feeling that this has something to do with the GPU acceleration.
Now as I write this message – I am trying something new:
I marked the “match sequence settings” on the top of the export windows” this yielded a “new” exporting format name “mpeg preview” that has same frame size ,frame rate and field order as the original footage”
It worked fast and was ready in about 20 minutes or so.
Using the AME to convert this to mpeg2 DVD also was fast.
The only question – what will be the final quality when burning DVD?!
I can’t answer that now since I have a burner problem and only tomorrow I will be able to replace it and gaze on the results of this experiment.
I will, of course, update as soon as I can.
I do hope someone (adobe guys?!) will do something about solving these frustrating issue.

I am also using a 2TB Fantom G-Force Megadisk external HD to store all my media. It is connected via a Firewire 800 cable
I've been having a lot of trouble with Premiere Pro CC 2014. While scrubbing through a project, a frame will all of a sudden freeze in the program monitor. I have my processors displayed on my menu bar and I've noticed that whenever I run into lag time or freezing the 8 processors won't all be firing, usually just one is actually working at that time. I am also only running one program at a time as to not tie up my processor.
All of my source files are usually AVCHD. Most of my work is under 10 minutes long, so they are just short corporate videos not feature length movies. I understand that editing native files can really slow your processors so with my latest project I consolidated and transcoded in the Project Manager to Apple ProRes in order to test that. Even with that I'm still having the exact same problem.
These are some other steps I've taken to correct this:
I've contacted Adobe several times and they told me that the Graphics Card is known to have problems and to contact Apple. I contacted Apple and they said there are no known problems with that Graphics Card it sounds like a software issue. I ran a disk permissions test and uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Same problems. Nothing has worked.
I've trashed my preferences as well
Really it seems that both Adobe and Apple are pointing the finger at each other. All I want to do is edit my videos without having to restart Premiere Pro every 10 minutes.

This seems to be an issue for me A LOT too. I can't keep Premiere open for more than 2 minutes at a time right now. The Customer Service rep from India did a "Team View" on my computer before and after 45 minutes finally fixed the issue. But I can't seem to get a hold of customer support right now. Premiere Pro 2014 is crashing and freezing and I have to use force quit to get it to shut down.

Premiere Pro 2014 is crashing every day. i am running Premiere Pro 2014 on a 2013 imac with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5 with 16 GB RAM. Playback on premiere continually freezes and the program crashes. Or the playback will start to freeze and then I save and close the project file/program, but the program will not close and I have to force quit. This is extremely frustrating. Premiere Pro CC was super stable and I rarely if ever had a problem. I have changed my permissions to give myself read/write. I have created a new project file in 2014 and then imported all my sequences from my updated project file but none of these strategies have worked. I am considering creating a new project file and going back to working solely in CC because I am on a deadline and troubleshooting this issue is taking up so much time.

I have had to force quit PP CC four times today. The fourth was when it crashed while trying to reopen it. I have had exactly the same problems as described above. I have no solutions to offer. I will go through a week of constant Premiere Pro bugs and poor performance then experience a period that seems too good to be true only to end up having a day like today. I can't believe that they call this a professional editing suite. It just wastes so much of my time pissing around trying to fix things and managing all the extra render and preview files it makes each time I have to save a new copy of a project which usually results in renaming it. It gets confusing after a while. Really not happy with this and have begun to learn Avid so as soon as this project is done, PP will be history.

Latest Premiere Pro CC 2014 Freezing and crashing. Why?

While editing a project everything runs smooth for a while, but then PPCC will freeze, become sluggish and or will crash from time to time. I have a new MacPro (Late 2013) 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 64 GB ram, with duel AMD FirePro D700 graphics cards. I purchased my machine a few months ago. in Addition I'm editing off of a Thunderbolt 2 raid SSD drive. SO I don't know why my projects are freezing and crashing. This happens weather I'm editing DSLR 1080 footage Or RED 6K Footage. My system has more than enough power to handle my project, but premiere works for awhile then doesn't play nice. Why? PPCC 2014 by far has the best tools for editors in my opinion but if its not as stable a FCPX then why should we continue to use it. in addition, yes I have done a complete clean install so there should not be any conflicts.Running OS X 10.10.1

My Premiere Pro CC 2014 also freezes when I try to export. I do not get any error messages, it just freezes and I have to restart my computer. The only way I can render is to Queue to Media Encoder CC 2014.

Editing a series for Fox - weird behavior from our system since Premiere CC 2014.2 Update

Hi all,
I'm cutting a series for Fox and we're on season 3. I cut all of season 1 on FCP7. Then dipped my toe into Premiere waters between seasons and cut all of season 2 in Premiere with excellent results. My only gripe on the previous Premiere CC versions was towards the ends of cuts when my timelines were rather complicated, I'd have a crash or two each day. Well I'm finishing up an episode this week which is the first I've cut in version 2014.2. It's WAY more stable, I haven't had a single crash in weeks. That part is amazing! The huge downside has been that my real time performance seems to have taken a serious hit even though the hardware, disk storage, video card, tower etc. are all identical. Worse is that when I'm playing back a sequence that's longer than one show act (like a sequence with the entire show in it, only 22 minutes) I'll a lot of time get a slight stutter frame between edits and that happens on a lot of edits. It's a fast paced racing competition show so say I'm playing back my timeline with a cut from a go pro on the steering wheel to a shot outside the car, it looks like there's a freeze frame of 2 frames long at the end of the GoPro shot before going to the shot outside the car. It's not only going from GoPro to non GoPro, it seems to happen on any kind of footage UNLESS I render it all, then it's fine. It's very frustrating. I've also confirmed when opening up an old show that played back fine on the previous version that this is still happening on these old projects as well. Also when color correcting in a sequence, there's generally a delay in seeing my color changes of several seconds! Premiere has always been instantaneous or very close to instantaneous when showing color updates for the past year until this update. Is this a known issue? Here's my specs:

Hi, I had the same problem.
What I found is the audio external interface needed to be reset.
So I've did this : quit Premiere, unplug my USB audio device, plug it back and launch premiere.
Every was fine.

Why does my entire computer freeze while opening or using After Effects or Premiere Pro CS5?

As for anything else giving me issues I haven't noticed anything besides a previous Graphics Card wasn't supported very well at all with 3ds Max, it would freeze while using the material editor which was fixed with replacing a GTX550 ti with a more compatible GTX480. Thought maybe the upgrade would also solve the fact that almost everytime I go to start up and/or use After Effects or Premiere Pro CS5 my whole system freezes. Whether or not I'm doing anything, it occasionally happened during "Scrubbing" the timeline, but also during the splash load up screen. Would take the time to wait for several minutes but nothing would change. Hard reboot was needed. After countless hours of searching online I stumbled upon what is called an "Unlock" for Premiere Pro/After Effects to allow accelerated GPU and CUDA cores. Simple procedure, seems as if things go faster... When it is working. But still, I encounter freezes on my entire system. It isn't a crash back to Windows or anytihng. Just a complete freeze on the entire system. I have not extensively used other Adobe programs besides Photoshop quite briefly just so I could open menus and force a freeze within 5 minutes and noticed nothing wrong. Which in AE & PP just running through any of the menu windows can quickly cause a sudden freeze.
note* I have alternated shutting off and turning on OpenGL as well as multiprocessing. Doesn't matter, it really doesn't seem to change much of anything.
Alas, I am absolutely sure, after checking and re-checking 80+ hours over the past 2 weeks that yes, everything is updated as far as each individual program, software or hardware will allow me to update them. I have reinstalled Windows as well as each program up to 3 times, and 1 system (restore?) I had Windows dump everything, started from scratch, backed up nothing. To reinstall everything from scratch, while not installed several "Utilities" or software components from stuff like the Motherboard and its XFAST USB/LAN or whatever, thinking maybe it was cluttering up anything.
Please, if anyone has any ideas upon this and could give me advice, whether you notice any other incompatibilities or anything. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
note* I do not have a wired Keyboard or mouse to disable the USB plugin and attempt that route.. at least not yet, its on my list of things to do. Also, I did run Memtest86+ during a boot and it claims that everything there had passed 100%. I am not "overclocking" anything either. I just wanted something I could work smoothly on, that would have decent rendering capabilities. I used to use my girls' laptop which was an HP with 3GB RAM and never experienced crashes or freezes and I could use AE, PPro, 3ds Max with some lag but not any issues. Rendering took forever on it, but I usually avoided that 'cuz it would start heating up pretty fierce. Saved my rendering for school computers where I could. But either way, now I have this expensive piece and it is getting frustrating that I cannot work on it.
note* Also, incase it does help, I have Windows as well as any major components installed onto the C: drive (aka SSD for my system) while all my secondary software, such as Adobe, Autodesk, etc. are all installed directly to my D: drive (or HDD) And everything is set up to go through Windows Firewall as well.

Thanks all. I have just tried a few things, installing them onto the C drive as you all specified as not being one of them. I can understand it, but at the same time i have a classmate who has their software on a seperate drive and it runs smoothe. I'm on my second GPU in 2 weeks, unless I have terrible luck it seems doubtful being that I can run games and a majority of the software no problem. Through further testing around with a corded mouse and keyboard I've noticed the following...
The computer freezes entirely only when I'm performing a "scrubbing" action or using a mouse. Left clicking, scrolling, or moving it around. Otherwise if I do not use the mouse and I make all my actions, such as "scrubbing" in AE via "Page Up & Down" keys, there's no freeze and it preloads the preview no problem.
"Scrubbing" does not load a preview (the green bar doesn't load at all while scrubbing). But, also noticed no matter how smoothe everything is running in 3ds Max as well as PPro, once I start performing a "scrubbing" action with whatever timeline I use, it will definately freeze my whole computer, Windows and all. Hard reboot is neeed.
With having gone through 2 GPU's, done a full memtest via Windows 7 and Memtest86+, there seems to be no issue with my memory or GPU. Like I said, I've run UDK without an issue. Whether the editor or game. The USB doesn't seem like it's the cause, I've used both wireless as well as wired keyboards/mouse. Still freezes, but now only when using a mouse to "Scrub".
Is it possible my motherboard could be incompatible somewhere? I mean, really.. everything is brand new but 2 weeks of troubleshooting.
And I do plan on trying to run my software off the C drive, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else, like I said, I've seen and used a computer where it all runs off the D drive and it runs perfectly, actually better on his computer than off the C drive at my schools. So if it is an issue would it lie within the fact that I'm using an Nvidia GPU? Considering my classmate is using a AMD/ATI Radeon or something like that.
