Premiere CC is not importing full frame range of .mov

I am working in a custom project. 30fps (progressive). My quicktimes begin at frame 0. When I look at the files in quicktime, the frames are there. When I import the files into premiere CC. the first 2 frames are not viewable and my imported clip begins at frame 2. Is this a settings thing?

So...if i recompress my .mov (h.264 compressed) files keyframing every frame, Premiere sees the first 2 frames of the clip... that said, I would prefer not rebatch all these clips as this is a pretty big project and would require quite a bit of time... so if anyone has any ideas how to get around this, it would be very helpful.

  • Animated Gif - Save for web not showing full frame range

    Hey,
I'm trying to export an animated gif with 52 frames - I'm using the timeline in CS6, it's exported correctly in the past but when I try and save for web only a seemingly arbitrary number of rames appear in the animation. With no clear route to rectify this, I've tried to affect the outcome by simply moving things around on the timeline.
I've had a variety of frame ranges (and frames) numbering between 2 and 6 frames, far off my 52 target. It's a simple image and equally simple transition to keep filesize down but I'm completely bamboozled by this. It looks like a bug but any advice I could get would be much appreciated.

If it worked in the past with CS6 try resetting your CS6 Photoshop Preferences.  If you still have the problem after that.  Up load the PSD file to a server and post a link to it.

  • I can not import videos frames to layers.

I can not import videos frames to layers. ( I do have QuickTime )

You may whant to look at your windows creash reports to see where CS4 is crashing, It may help you find a solution if there is one.
Photoshop is not designed as a video editor.  Video is more or less and add on.
Photoshop video support was also significantly enhances in CS6.  While there is still support for  menu File>Import>Video Frames to layers.  Its not the best way to get video into Photoshop.  Even dropping a quicktime file onto Photoshop is better.  I find the best way to get video into Photoshop is using the Video Timeline add media into.  Its quicker, You have better control of selecting the frames you want,  And you can turn a video timeline into layers and a frame animation if that is what you want to work on.
If you want to do video get a lost cost video editor like Premier Elements.  If you just want do do simple video editing spring for CS6 or subscribe to the cloud.  CS6 will set you back some $700 for Standard $1000 for extended.   Where $10 a month will get you the cloud. Where your get Photoshop Extended and can  also use LR.  I do not use LR or do video editing.  I get the cloud mostly for the improvements being made to ACR and ACR in Cloud Photoshop is a Filter in addition of being a Photoshop and Bridge Plug-in.
Frame Animations and video timeline can be save for web as animated  poor choice for video or large frame animation. They can also be rendered out as video.  Video file sized are much smaller then Animated GIF have better color and can contain audio as well. Here the 1920x1080 Gif file size was nearly 29MB  where the High Quality mp4 with audio was about 6MB.
View Screen capture in new tab or browser window the site scale screen captures very poorly at times.

  • Project not showing full frame in a compound clip

    Hi Folk;
I am finishing my first project in FCPX (10.0.9) . Overall everything went very well.
I had another editor start the project on another computer.
I copied the event to my iMac and continued the edit. No problems until I exported the project for the client review.
I have a compound clip with mixed footage and a storyline and connected clips that I have used in a project with several compound clips.
I can play this particular compound clip fine and all the video displays fine. (see picture #2)
I lay the this Compound clip into the project and I get less than full frame out in my "storyline" elements - especially after the orange render bar disappears -
I sent the client a version with the "drop out" video (see first pix below where image does not reveal full frame ) and have spent a few hours looking for a cause for my issue. I am wondering if I am the only one dealing with this.
I have created a work around - exported the compound clip and reimport it as a full clip and layed it into the timeline.
The setting for the compound clip are XDCAM sony and the footage that is at issue is AVCHD from a panasonic.
I have several events providing footage for the compound clip
The project has seveal compound clips from different events
The event folder I created seems to be where the issue lives. or maybe the render -
I am using orginal footage not proxies.
I want to avoid this in the future so any insight is helpful.
I feel I have made a mess of my first project and want to clean up any bad habit that may be causing my problem.
Thanks for the opportunity to diagnos this.
I am sure this is as clear as mud.
    Cheers!

when you first create a new project, FCPX *can* be set to accept "Automatic Settings" -- basically, it will take the properties of the first clip dropped in the storyline. This can be very convenient if you know the media will be all the same, or you know how to manipulate the "first drop".
If you know the format you want your project to be, it's better to set that up manually when you start a new project (Advanced Options). When you apply your media to the storyline, FCPX will conform the media to the project settings. It doesn't always work perfectly (due to custom or proprietary differences in file formats for the containers holding the media.) For instance, one of my older (SD) camcorders produces "Samsung AVC" (from Get Info on the file) and FCPX simply will not recognize the anamorphic footage.
Anyway, so, yes, I would suspect the 1440x1020 footage might be problematic. (Are you sure it's 1020?? or did you mistype? If it's actually 1080, it still might be giving you problems. All of my 1440 footage requires manually adjusting the width by 133.33%).
You can force a change for your project by clicking going out into the Project Library and with your project selected, you should see a wrench icon at the bottom right of the inspector. Click that and adjust your project settings (you cannot change the frame rate once a project is started, but you can change just about everything else.) Once you get the format set up (and you go back into your project), then you'll know which clips will need to be adjusted. If you have footage that won't fit the frame, you will probably need to go into the video tab > Transform, turn down the Scale disclosure triangle and adjust the X scale (usually) and Y scale (only if necessary.) If the footage you need to conform is SD, there is an Anamorphic Override option available in Info > Settings.
About compound clips... FCPX tries to guess a format based on "common" properties. If you're creating compound clips with mixed media - Use  Custom Settings and set the properties to be the same as the project format.

  • Did you know Firefox 4 does not support full frame option in iPlayer or similar?

Both at home & work - using Mac OS 10.5 & 10.6 Firefox 4 will not allow me to view full frame video stream such as BBC iPlayer, 4OD, ITV Player, TVCatchup ....etc, etc.
I have now switched to using Safari & Chrome (which work perfectly) but in the interest of your 'going forward' I thought you'd like to know of this glitch.
    All the best

I have Firefox 5.0.1 and the coupon printer I'm trying to use is supported by ActiveX. It appears that 5.0.1 is not compatible with ActiveX. Can you tell me how I can access this installation to print my coupons with Firefox, please? Thanks!

  • I can not import video frames in photoshop elements 12

    Hello,
I want to import video frames (for making an animated gif). The instructions how to do this in elements is clear (Go to File, choose Import, choose video frames), but I don't see that last option in the menu... See screenshot.
(I tried to import video via Organizer but that is not possible either)
    So what to do?
    Thanks for any help.
    Robert

Frame from video was removed because it was just too old and not useful for what video is like today. It was designed to grab a frame from those short tiny videos that early digital cameras made, you know the ones that could record about 30 seconds of video at 300 x 400. It was never any good at longer videos and couldn't do HD at all, so adobe removed it because it was becoming more of a problem than a solution. It is not in any language version of PSE 12.

  • Premiere pro will not import .mov files

Premiere pro CS3 running on Vista 64 bit will not import .mov files. After Effects CS4 has the same problem, it says I don't have the correct version of Quick Time installed. I'm using the 64 bit version 7.6.4 for Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
Now, what is inside that .MOV "wrapper?" This ARTICLE will give you some background on "wrappers." It is mainly written with .AVI in mind, but translates to most AV file formats, including .MOV.
Now, I use a lot of .MOV files and these are all done in the Animation CODEC. Never an issue for me.
One thing that might aid you is the US$30 upgrade/unlock key to QT Player Pro. It can Export as a bunch of useful formats/CODEC's. Depending on whether your footage is SD, or HD, you can Export most to formats that play perfectly with PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements is not recognizing my file as a "movie"

I'm using Premiere Elements 9 in Windows 7.  I have several media files on my hard drive that are AVCHD Video (.m2ts).  Each are roughly the same size (about 10GB), they have video and audio, and they play fine in Windows Media Player.  When I add them to my Premiere Elements project, sometimes Elements recognizes some files as movies and others as videos (i.e. they have no sound if you play them in Premiere).  It is quite random -- the media files I'm using are very similar and were created the same way.
I also have the same issue with Movie Clip files (.mpg).  I have a bunch of these on my hard drive that were created the same way, but when I add them to my project, Premiere Elements treats some of them as movies and others as videos.
All of them should be recognized as movies.  I've banging my head at this issue, as I keep trying to add, clear, re-add media to my project in all sorts of combinations, trying to guess how Premiere is going to treat each file.  And I haven't even placed any of these on the timeline yet!!!!
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.  Adobe has been unreachable on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Are they consistent (is it always the same files that work properly and the same ones that don't)?
Do analyze them with  GSpot and post the images here. That will also answer Bill's question about audio formats.

  • Premiere Pro will not import a video I captured in Premiere.

I am working with Premiere Pro Cs6, on an HP laptop, with Windows 8. This is the first time I was capturing video from a Canon XL H1. When I finished capturing, Premiere did not give me any further prompts, and when I preceded to try to import the video I captured, it is telling me that "there was an error decompressing audio or video." • Premiere Pro does not import any footage

Premiere Pro CS6 imports footage to the media browser, but with the image jumbled up. This happens regardless of format/codecs. Audio (including from footage) imports normally.

Ask in the Premiere forum. Sounds liek eitehr your graphics hardware acceleration is not working properly or you made a mess with your CoDecs. You need to provide exact technical info liek system specs and what footage you work with in any case.

  • Trouble Importing Home Video - Not importing full clip

I've never used iMovie before but I figured out how to get a home dvd imported. I mounted the disk image and everything and when I open iMovie is gives me the import menu. I import my clip and it tells me that it's imported 120 minutes of video but when I click on the new event there's only 48 minutes of video. Where's the rest?

This is what PYRO's Technical support told me. I plan on getting back to them with follow up questions let me know if you have one you would like to pass on.
    Tech Support (18 Tech) - 7/26/2006 1:41:45 PM
Tihs is not likely to be happening because of anything on your system (the pattern would be a bit different usually.) This happens because the hardware is dropping frames that cannot be properly translated.
Analog tapes may often contain spots where the magnetism is weak, the tape is stretched, warped etc where the signal that is read off of it when sent from the VCR incorrectly. The reason is that the VCR doesn"t build the signal; it simply does a straight electronic conversion of the signal on the tape to signals on the wire. The problem is that in order for a computer system to understand it as video, the signal must adhere to a strict structure.
When the signal becomes out of order or a part of the signal drops out, a video computer will have a problem and will lose frames unless hardware is present that can anticipate and fill/repair the missing component (most commonly, time-base correction.) These bad signals don"t typically manifest themselves visibly on an analog monitor unless the defect is prolonged (such as distorted video at a bad warp on the tape or the bad video between multiple recording sessions) but they are still there and anything that is trying to compute data from those signals is going to have a problem.
The only thing you can do is try to clean the heads of your VCR or Camcorder using a cleaning cassette or try to run the video through hardware that can do video enhancement/time-base correction, which will repair the signal thus allowing it to be captured uninterrupted. Every time the signal is interrupted, the video processor and DV compressor will take about a second to sync up and resume capture and that is what you"re seeing in those drop-outs.

  • Final Cut Pro not importing full clip

What i am using is a JVCpro GY-HM100 which records native mp4 and native mov files. I record native mp4 1080i60 and when i make an attempt to import the files it only imports 30sec of the file when it originally is a 4min clip how can i solve this issue so that it can import the full clip

    Welcome to the forum!
FCP does not work with those highly compressed MP4 files. Use an editing codec to edit with. MP4 is a acquisition and delivery codec not an editing one. Use an application like Compressor to convert the files into something like ProRes (LT) if you are working with an HD file.
You can search this forum for "MP4" topics. It's covered at least once a day.

  • IMovie not importing full 1080 resolution

I've notices that when I import my 1080 HD videos that i've recorded on my iPhone to iMovie, it converts the video to 720p. I don't see a setting that says tells iMove that I want it to import the full quality. I've go the latest version of iMovie 10.0.2 and am very confused why this is not automatically doing this for me. Any suggestions would be fully appreciated.

The resolution of an iMovie 10 project cannot be set manually but is determined by the first clip to be added to the project.   If your first clip is 1080p then the project should be 1080p.  ( iMovie 10 on the Mac definitiely supports 1080p)
Try creating a new project and putting a single 1080p clip into it.  then select the project and click Info (above the viewer).  It should read 1080p HD.   If it reads 720p then your clip must be 720p.
Assuming it reads 1080p you can then copy all of your project that was set to 720p to this new project and it should remain set at 1080p.  You can remove that first clip if you need.  The shared movie will be 1080p.
    Geoff.

  • Motion not importing full file

I have a .mov that is 00:14;29 long but Motion only imports 00:10;19 What happened to my last 4 seconds, 10 frames?
Any ideas? I've tried re-rendering the .mov twice in the software I created it in with no luck. Other media from this software and others comes in at correct length.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan
EDIT: Wow...just tried it a third time...re-rendered and imported...Motion only imported up to 00:08:10 This is weird.

OK, so I found the problem, though I don't know the reason for it.
I had exported the .mov with the "animation" codec...for some reason. So I re-rendered it with "none" and Motion brought in the whole thing. If anyone can explain that one, I would REALLY like to know. BTW, the .mov is a map animation created with the program "Curious World Maps" if you were interested to know.
