Premiere CC: No Audio waveform or playback, but clip online.

Hi guys,
I looked to see if this has been covered and couldn't find anything but...
Essentially we are having a problem with a project that was sent to us from a production company. They synced the video and audio in PluralEyes3 but the project that they have sent us, despite having all the audio files online is playing back silent.
None of the layers are muted, soloed ect.
Now these files are not showing up as offline, they are highlighted as green and when selected in the timeline they have no wave form, if I click to reveal in project however the audio plays and it is the right file, in the right place.
Has any body else had this issue or know a fix?

That's a very good point I'll check that, if not where can I grab the Premiere Pro CC plugin for Plural Eyes3?
I remember now that it used to run through the extension window when we were on CS6, so that's probably it.
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quick.

  • Question on putting audio waveform inside a video clip

    Hi,
I have a animation which I would like to modify by addiing an audio waveform to. Basically its just like having a robot speaking and not only do you hear the audio, but you see the audio as well.
Is there a way in FCP to import an existing animation, and take a video image of the waveform of the audio track and put it in the video and then output the whole thing?
have seen this done before, so am certain there must be a way...
    thanks

The easiest way that I know of is to shoot the display of an oscilloscope with the audio that you want to use being fet into it. There are a few shareware/freeware O-scope programs available for the mac that will take the input from the audio in of your mac. Try versiontracker or tucows for the software. You may also do a screen capture during this process rather than shooting the screen.
    Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 3gs, audio echo on playback but ok on my computer, all other audio on ipod ok.

My Iphone 3gs ipod has an echo when I playback 2 different audio downloads, these play without echo on my computer, all other audio on iphone ipod are ok.

Never mind, after two hours searching I found the answer to my question. Adjusted the playback speed, I thought that was the problem but didn't know where to adjust it. FYI - now playing screen (don't know what to call it), to the right and below the progress bar there is a little box that has a number and an x in it this is the playback speed. Hope this helps any other novice out there. If there is no gray area at the top of the now playing screen with progress bar touch your screen and it should show up.

  • Audio in viewer playback but no audio in canvas

I can't get any audio while playing the sequence on the time line. It is fine when playing the clip in the viewer. Please advise.

i tell ya, i had this very thing happen to me this morning although on my panther drive with fcp 4.5.
couldn't get audio to play through my vtr at all! tested a tape, the audio was working. booted to tiger and tested a fcp 5 sequence and all was well.
if you're following the normal procedures for getting audio to play out through an external device but it's not happening, you may have to trash your preferences. for the first time ever that's what i had to do and i did a search on this board for fcp rescue, found the link to where patrick sheffield is hosting it, downloaded the proper version and fcp rescue worked like a charm and i was back in business.
or you may have some other issue that i have no idea how to fix.....

  • Audio Waveform Just a Series of Dots

The audio waveform on the timeline appears like a series of tiny dots with the thinnest line going thru it. And this is with the track expanded. On the same computer my Premiere 6.5 Audio waveform is thick and easy to read. Any ideas?

Try streaching out the size of the audio track - making the track size bigger should increase the size of the waveform.

  • How do I synchronize multiple *sequential* clips using audio waveforms in Premiere Pro CC?

I recorded a concert at my kids' school.  I ended up with:
Video in six separate clips (video+audio) from my Canon 5D Mark III camera
A single audio clip from my Zoom H4n recorder
The 5D Mark III can only record clips of up to 4GB in size, and clips 30 minutes in length.  The clips broken up by the 4GB size limit are adjacent to each other, but the clips broken up by the 30-minute limit have a stop-pause-restart gap of a few second.
On past such projects, I have used PluralEyes 3.0 to synchronize the clips.  But PluralEyes converts each stereo audio track into dual mono tracks, which I don't like.
I just happened upon this video:  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/merge-clips-automatically-using-audio-wave forms/?t=0  It shows how to synchronize a single video+audio clip with another audio clip.  It also shows how to synchromize multiple concurrent video+audio clips with another audio clip, for multi-camera editing.  But it doesn't show how to synchronize multiple sequential video+audio clips, as I got from my Canon 5D Mark III.
It seems that every time I select multiple video clips, the Synchronize item in the pop-up menu is disabled.  When I select only the first video clip and the full-duration audio clip, I can synchronize them with audio waveforms.  But then when I try to select the second video clip and the full-duration audio clip and synchronize them, it breaks the sync of the first video cilp
Can Premiere Pro CC synchronize multiple sequential video clips using the audio waveform method?
I am running Premiere Pro CC version 7.2.1 (4).
    Thanks.

I'm an editing newbie but this was the very first task I needed to do, i.e. align multiple video clips with a single audio track. My setup is similar. I'm shooting with a Canon 70D, which breaks up video into 4gb clips, which are continuous and easy to align end to end. But the 70D like the 5D only shoots for 30 minutes continuously, so a second or two is lost hitting record again. My external audio was recorded continuously with a camera mounted Tascam (like a zoom) with a line in to the camera. So, in theory, the audio should be the same on the external audio and the audio associated with the video clips, which probably helps the software identify the identical wave forms.
I found that I could roughly align the video clips based on the audio wave forms and then "synchronize" the audio as shown in the video (Merge clips automatically using audio waveforms | Adobe Premiere Pro CC tutorials). I found that this aligned the audio perfectly but separated the video from its associated audio track. But it's easy to select the video and snap it back into alignment with its audio. While it would be nice to have everything merge automatically, using synchronize sequentially did not take much time.
    Hope that all makes sense.

  • How to turn on audio waveform in timeline in Premiere Pro CC

I'm not sure why I'm not getting a clear answer for this question, but can anyone help me out here? In Premiere CS6, all I had to do was press the little arrow next to my timeline and I could see the audio waveform. The arrow is no longer in CC and I can't figure out how else to turn this on. I use this feature constantly so it's quite inconvenient not to have it on.

This seems like a bug to me. My audio was doing the same thing. I imported a clip from an HD camera. Dragged it onto my sequence timeline and the audio showed as a solid blue bar.
I couldn't see my audio waveform until I took the yellow scrubber and dragged it back and forth across the whole sequence. Then the audio wave started to appear. It was very confusing because I had one other camera clip on the audio track below this one and it showed fine.
Then, it still disappears while playing, but shows while its paused...very odd.
    While playing:
    While paused:
    UPDATE:
    My fix was to
    1. Alt+Click the audio portion of the clip to select just the audio.
    2. Go to Clip>Audio Options>Audio Gain
    3. HIt ok, Premiere then rendered my audio properly....odd. BTW, this clip was captured by premiere, so rendering audio wasn't an option. But as soon as I went to the audio options, it suddenly built the waveform peaks.

  • Display Audio Waveforms in Timeline, Premiere Pro CC

I have just started using Premiere Pro CC, watched all the turorials, and started a project. I am wondering how to display audio as waveforms in the timeline. I have tried suggestions like checking and unchecking rectify audio waveforms, but have not been able to get actual waveforms in the main timeline. It seems like there used to be disclosure triangles in a previous version, but there are none in this version.

After 35 minutes with Adobe phone support ... this is what we found and resolved the issues (as both A1 and A2 had no sound wave):
    (1) When media files are moved, PR does not know where to find them. We had to extensively search project files (Lynda.com tutorial) to locate some missing files.
         This resolved A1.
    (2) For A2, we right-clicked on the audio track and selected "Render and Replace" ... that resolved the 2nd issue.
Another word of caution ... there is a significant privacy bug at the moment. Even though my forum profile was set to only display my screen name (and only show my account name to myself), the my account name was appearing in this forum. I had to change my personal name on the account in 2 places and then reboot my browser. That fixed the privacy issue to the extent that a bogus personal name is now showing - and my screen name is still missing

  • IMovie volume meter shows much red peaking but audio waveform shows none

When I play my movie, the volume meter in iMovie shows peaking in the red (distortion) all over the place, but in the audio waveform there is not one place where it peaks into the red (or even the yellow).  The whole wave is very close to the 0db line.  It sounds great when I play it and still great after I export it.  But, once I upload it to YouTube, there is awful distortion all over the place just like the volume meter in iMovie indicates.  I can't find any place to turn down output so the volume meter doesn't peak and I don't want to turn my audio waveform down below 0db and lose all of my volume.  I already tried clicking on the Normalize Clip Volume in Audio Adjustments and that didn't seem to change anything, still peaking like crazy in the volume meter.  What can I do to get rid of the red peaking and distortion?
Here's a little more info for anyone who can help with my problem.  I am using iMovie 11 on an i7 iMac with Lion.  I turned the audio of my video all the way down and imported another audio that had been compressed in Pro Tools to show no red peaks whatsoever.  Can someone please help?

  • Premiere Pro Audio Waveform Glitch?

Hello all, hope you guys could help me. I edit a lot with audio waveforms to assist me with synching multiply cameras as well as locating impurities to my audio. Recently (past 3 months) I have been experiencing some problems with viewing my waveforms in the sequence. If my sequence is fully zoomed out everything visually looks ok but as I zoom into the sequence the audio wave forms seems to "shift." so the audio sounds fine but visually the waveforms are all off. So I can't make any cuts according to how it looks which is a problem with me. So please give me your thoughts please.
I am on a windows 7 custom build with 8 GBs Ram
Doesn't matter to format of the footage or the format of the sequence all is equal.

Some of the things that affect these programs aren't "apparently" logical. And clearly a lot of the things that become problems for the user base were NOT logical to become a problem to the design people. So ... it may not work for you, but as noted, for a number of people this actually did fix a problem like unto yours. Hope you simply checked it out on your rig.
I don't know how many times over the last couple years people have had a suggestion which ended up being the proper one but it didn't seem sensible to them so they refused to even try it and we had long threads where they were demanding a "sensible" cure ... and tried all sorts of other things ... and finally gave up and tried that utterly stupid suggestion that had been the first one and clearly had NO connection whatever with their problem ... and ... um ... amazingly, it worked.
Of course, some of them were nice but politely refused ... and some were a bit less than polite. Very frustrating as a volunteer to be attempting to help someone who isn't willing to try the suggestions nor even bothers to be neutral let alone polite.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Audio Waveform Issue

I've recorded several interviews with my Canon 5D MKII and Zoom H4N. I imported both files into the timeline but the audio from the Zoom H4N doen't have an audio waveform until I zoom into the timeline. I recorded a screen capture but my mic wasn't plugged all the way in so theirs no audio. If anyone has ever come across this issue or knows how to fix it please shoot me a message.

I had to clean out the Media Cache to get the audio wave form working correctly for the Zoom H4N audio. I don't think this problem is exclusive to the H4N but it is interresting knowing where the error came from.
