Premiere CC Timeline Issues

Hello,
My coworker and I both have separate licences for CC, and today we both ran into the same new issue. My timeline will sometimes go black in the video/audio tracks. The problem can be fixed if you zoom out on the timeline, but when you zoom in the black bars will come back or the audio will weirdly slip out of sync (aesthetically, i haven't noticed any audio not matching up... but it still makes me nervous). Has anyone ran into this or does anyone have a solution? I cleared my cache but still no luck.

I had the same problem, and just pretty much ignored it until I saw your post.
The problem is that somehow, all of a sudden, Premiere Pro thinks that "Iris" which is the normal label color for clips on the timeline is RGB 0,0,0 when is should be 114,154,204.
You have three basic choices.
1. Change Iris to what it should be manually.
2. Change the label color for the clips to something else
3. Reset the default Preferences. Tha manual states:
To restore default preference settings, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.
But if you do that, you need to check all of your settings to make sure everything is the way you want it again.

Premiere CS5 Timeline Issue

Hello,
When I put the files in the timeline and plays them (about every 12 seconds) the video "jump" backwards (the cursor indicating the point of the video being played go back) while the audio continues playing normally.

When I select a clip of video and move to a different place in my time line, Premiere Elements 13, will not release the clip from the mouse.

I try to delete these extra insertions, but the mouse will not release the clip.
Action I’ve taken: I’ve re-installed Premiere Elements 13. Problem remains.
This issue has consumed too much of my time and does not go away. It ruins my video.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
So thanks! Problem solved!

LEAD Codec for MotionJPEG-Premiere Elements Playback Issues

There are several reports online (here and elsewhere) recommending installing LEAD Codec for MotionJPEG-Premiere Elements Playback Issues. Most, if not all, of the feedback is that it works and is only $10 USA dollars.
Today I went in search of that codec at LEAD Technologies and could not find a $10 LEAD Codec.

Instead, I found a bunch of kits priced at way over $100.00.
From the chat service at that web site, I discovered that the LEAD codec is no longer sold separately. In order to get that codec, you would have to buy the Multimedia SDF Kit (priced $595.00).
Any workaround suggestions
OR
pay the $595.00 to get the LEAD Codec
OR
go the file conversion route for the MotionJPEG?

Great news!
On the PrPro forum, it's been 100% for MainConcept, and 99% for Morgan. One user could not get the Morgan to work on his/her system, but that could well have been OE on that poster's part. Still, those are not bad odds, and the 'cost" of the Morgan is better...

Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, audio channels change to 8 channels when clip dragged onto timeline.

Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, when clip dragged onto timeline audio channels change to 8 channels. Audio track mixer changes too. I edit undo to remove dragged clip and it reverts back to 4 channels of audio on timeline as does the audio mixer? Any ideas as to why the audio channels and mixer changes?

you can check the clip you are dragging to the timeline, if it has 8 tracks... can check by right clicking it in the project bin, choose modify, audio channels.

Preview Timeline Issues in Premiere Pro CC

Hi,
I am wokring on my feature film and since the last 2-3 days I have notice my PREVIWE RENDERS on the timeline stagger. When i give for rendering, the render just keeps increasing, the number of frames increase...sort of like a variable frame render...and just goes on and on !
I uninstalled Premiere CC and installed, changed hard drives. Still the problem persists !
Please suggest what to do !

To get the fix for this bug, you will need to update. But I suspect you don't absolutely need the fix for the bug as there are workarounds. There's probably just a small number of problem spots in the sequence that are causing the issue. Perhaps only one. So render the sequence in segments defined by In/Out points until you find a problem spot. Then simply skip that point.
All of which begs the question as to whether you really need to render at all. In case you're not aware, doing so is entirely optional for purposes of smoother playback. If your computer is powerful enough, it may not be necessary.

Anyone experiencing timeline issues? No drop down in three way cc saturation

Hi not quite sure when, probably with in the last week or so I've noticed that a project i started a while ago has become buggy. The timeline needle doesnt scrub, different sequences show up sparraticcaly, saturation doesn't drop down in three way cc, I change the work space then it works for a second but goes back to the way it was. It's almost like a memory issue (but my memory is fine), I checked my gpu (gtx 670 4gb) worked great about a week ago. Friday I had adobe on phone for almost 2 hours and couldn't figure it out. So I'm wondering if anyone else is having this experience.

I'm editing MTS files from the fs700 s-logII, the support tech said that should have no bearing. I'm at a loss here, my work and project is suffering big time. I don't what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too have this issue, and this time, I cannot find a work around. The dropdown arrows do not appear to function on any effect, and the timeline controls do not allow you to move the playhead, although dragging the mouse around moves the playhead in the clip playback window.
My attempts yesterday to trouble shoot involved the following:
Holding SHIFT while launching Premiere for a "safe mode" style launch - no fix
Manually deleteing the Adobe Premiere Pro configs and settings in c:\users\[name]\Adobe\Premiere Pro
Uninstall\reinstall without deleting preferences (option during uninstall).
Uninstall\reinstall WITH deleting preferences
I'm completely stumped and unfortunatly this bug has already killed two deadlines for me. ANyone else having this issue, as I cannot narrow it down any further.

Win7 x64
16GB RAM
256GB SSD, 2TB Media drives x 2
Geforce 660
Premiere Pro CC 7.1 (latest version)
Cineform\GoPro Studio Pro (latest version) - attempted cineform files AND h264 files
Please advise, as I see no otehr solution besides a reformat but the issue seems limited to Premiere.

If rendering the Timeline content of those photos does not resolve the photo pixelation issue as per SG's question, then please read on.
a. Do you have a mixed Timeline of photos and video? If so, what is the format of the video and how many of these
2799 x 3500 photos are included? Do you get photo pixelation whether you have 1 or many of these photos on the Timeline?
b. What happens to the Edit area monitor view of one of these photos if you right click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality, and then compare the choices of Automatic vs Highest Quality? If you right click the Edit area monitor and select Magnification, do you find the Magnification set at the default "Fit"?
c. Have the photos been edited in Photoshop before being imported in Premiere Elements. If so, what was the extent of the Photoshop editing including effects applied and color profile?

Premiere project timeline strobing when using windows search function..

Hi, I've been noticing a weird issue with Premiere and locked layers strobing/flickering on screen (on the actual timeline). What seems to set it off is if i have a project open, and then go into windows explorer and run the search function on a folder (searching for .avi's or .jpg's or whatever). Once windows starts searching (and after it stops as well) when I go back into Premiere everything starts flickering (most noticeably on the diagonal lines on locked layers in the timeline). It makes it almost impossible to scroll through your project with the flickering, and the only way to fix it is to shut down Premiere and restart. Has anyone else experienced this?
Yeah, I'm running on Windows XP Pro 64bit, and i'm sure that 'might' be the reason for it, but thought others may experience this as well on other Windows OS systems.

hey... yeah I've updated all my drivers. I was actually having this same problem in general with my old NVIDIA drivers back in January (with any locked layers in Premiere). When there was an updated driver released, it appeared fixed. It only comes up now if I do a windows file search as I mentioned before.
Maybe it is a NVIDIA graphics card thing?? Anyone else with this issue?

Premiere Elements 7 issue with track 1

I just recently switched to premier elements 7. When I first switched it was fine, but now when I bring video into the timeline it always creates new Tracks and will not allow me to put it into Track 1. No idea why this is happening and it's not the end of the world, except when things are put in automatically they are put onto Track 1, and I can't even move my video from Track 2 to Track 1. My computer is Vista home premium. Any help would be appreciated!

Hmm. I see that this is a dual-format cam that will also record in MPEG2.
How are you getting this MPEG into your computer? Are you using Premiere Elements' Media Downloader to pull it off your hard drive?
Also, for this video you should be using the project preset for hard drive or DVD camcorders.
I'm not an expert on these dual-format camcorders, so there could be an issue with it using 5.1 audio, if it is for those MPEG. That could lead to the problems you're describing.

New Premiere user, 3 issues : zooming out, changing keyboard shortcuts, removing gain

Former FCP user here transitioning to Premiere, first time on this forum.
I have 3 separate issues when using Premiere cc or 2014 :
1/ When I try to zoom out using my tablet, I press 'z' to select the zoom tool, then hold the 'alt' key and click multiple times. But only several (one or two at most) clicks are taken into account, and after one or two clicks, the software seems to forget the alt key and starts zooming in. I'm aware of the 'minus' key shortcut on the keyboard, but a lot of times it would be much faster for me to do it this way. Is there a way to fix this ?
2/ I want to switch the hotkey "return" from "rendering effects" to "rendering selection". But when I try to hit 'return' in the shortcut window (after selecting the right action and getting the prompt box), it assumes I'm selecting 'Ok' and leaves... Any idea how I should do ?
3/ This one should be easier but I can't seem to find it : how do I remove the gain control line from the clips on the timeline ? I keep changing the audio gain when all I want to do is grab a clip.

Yes, I tried scrapping my preferences, but to no avail. I should perhaps have specified that my program runs in International English, but the keyboard is French. However, this is the first time using PS that this problem has arisen.

CS6 "Black Timeline Issue" Mac OS X 10.8.2

While creating a timelapse video through a series of JPEG's, the timeline on Premiere has gone black and no matter what I do, the timeline is still filled in black, rendering the program useless. I've tried deleting all my project files and previews then opening a new project, but to no avail. I'm very frustrated with this issue as I need the program to complete projects for school. I am fairly novice when it comes to CS6 as well as the Mac OS. Hopefully this is a minor issue and won't require a reinstall.

mr jeff i have format'ed the pc cuz of that issue , then after i installed the cs6 again the problem was fixed. but after i had re opened the old project , while the files were downloaded, then it happened again. the screen shot is the same like this --->

Strange Behaviour with JPEG files on Premiere Cs5 Timeline

Whew! Have not seen this problem before. Have been using Premiere since Ver 3.
I am in a project where I am dropping Jpeg images on the time line and creating a slideshow.
I am doing lots of motion with keyframes on scale., position etc .
When I render the project some images disappear and another image appears several times in their place.

Notice the image of the bride and groom at front of the car keeps repeating itself, whereas other images were placed in the timeline.
Help would be appreciated. I have redone the project 4 times.

BTW, this issue should be fixed in Premiere Pro CS5.5. Users of Premiere Pro CS5 will need to use the workaround that Colin mentioned.
