Premiere Crashes & Loses Sequence Presets & Codecs

I am in the middle of an edit and all of a sudden Premiere stops responding to anything and all of a sudden the mouse changes into an endless spinning dial. Had to cancel and lost 1 hour's work because the autosave seems very unreliable despite set to save every 20 minutes. An attempt to open the project, results in Premiere saying the sequence preset and codecs are missing therefore the project can't be opened [HDV]. Then I will have to take a break and have a cup of coffee or something....AWFUL. I am signed in my Creative Cloud account and tried launching Photoshop
only to be greeted with a Trial dialog box telling me that I have got 0 days remaining for my trial with this software. The problem is I keep getting this issue once or twice evry week and I lose almost 3 hours of my edits and time troubleshooting this same problem again and again, and I think it's not a case of activation because this has been activated already unless it has to be activated every day.
I pay my subscription on time but I lose a lot of time not being to use the tools that I paid for. Can somebody tell me what's wrong with the CREATIVE CLOUD in this case, because I am just fed up of being a fall guy unable to deliver my content on schedule. I keep explaining technical issues to my clients, whom I believe they may start thinking that I use an illegal version of this software. It has happened several times in front of my clients and felt very embarassed with this crashing and losing progress. There's no third party hardware being used on the system.

While I can't address your activation issue, and if your a registered user with an active account, you should contact support directly -that's part of what you're paying for.

In regards trusting autosave.  I don't.  It's best practice to manually save files in increments at miles stones, every hour, or whatever works for you.  That way you won't lose all your work and have to start from scratch.

  • Missing sequence presets & codecs - fixes ineffective CC 2014

    Hi there,
I know this is a well-documented issue, so apologies for creating another thread about it, but I'm completely at a loss with how to proceed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, started up Premiere holding shift to reset it, logged out, restarted, logged back in, logged out, reinstalled, logged back in, etc. I've even disabled my anti-virus during the install based on one thread, but nothing is working and it's driving me mad because it's really stuck a spanner in the works for a fair few ongoing projects. (Rule #1: Never update software mid-project, oops).
I've owned CS6 for a couple of years and it was working fine - it's only since moving to CC 2014 that I've had this problem. CS6 was fully uninstalled when I installed CC.
Can you not just add a "recheck activation and associated presets" button when the problem is this widely reported?
Any help would be GLORIOUSLY appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Archie

    Same here.
Installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 on a fresh, new Mac Pro (Yosemite OS X 10.10.1) and no DVD-Presets available in Media Encoder!
On my Macbook Pro Retina (also running Yosemite 10.10.1), DVD Presets are available in Media Encoder....
    Any solutions Adobe?

  • New document about sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro

If you're having problems with sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro, see this document for solutions for this activation issue.
This document relates to the following problems:
    - missing sequence presets when creating a new sequence
    - Encore error: "Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number."
    - When opening a project in Premiere Pro: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
    - When importing footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
These failures are all because Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation before they can be used. If activation of these codecs has failed, these codecs will not be available to use.

    Well done.

    1. Deactivate
    2. Uninstall everything Adobe
    3. Run Clean Script CS4 2 or 3 times. Look here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406241.html
    4. Reinstall and activate
    5. Update
Why did this happen? Because you have in the past used a trial version or your installation was faulty.

  • Premiere crashes when copying something in my sequence

I'm working on a PC with the latest CC Premiere version and everytime i try to copy a part ( ctrl + c) of my cut the program just crashes.
I tried out a lot now and nothing really works for me. I tried different parts of the sequence, different codecs. it just crashes instant everytime i copy.
    really frustrating.
has anyone a solution for this?

Have you tried different sequences in the same project?  Tried different projects?

  • Premiere crashes every time I try to copy a Sequence that contains a nested sequence

I'm working a project that has a lot of multicam sequences in it and I'm having a problem with Premiere crashing. I want to be able to iterate my sequences for versioning as I go through and make changes requested by my client for final approval but don't want to get rid of the old versions in case I need to go back for something later. I use the as a general practice because I've learned the hard way that it's much easier to save everything and need it rather than start making changes that I might want to get back later
Most of the items don't have any issues; footage, gfx .movs, stills, etc. all copy and paste fine as do my 'source' sequences which have 3 video tracks (cam 1, cam 2, and a gfx track). I am then dragging those sequences into a new sequence and 'Enabling Multicam' on that clip so I can use the multicam function of the Program monitor (a great feature I might add). However, I am now going back and making changes and want to create new iterations of my 'Multicam Sequences' and when I go to Copy them Premiere crashes. I also tried right-clicking and selecting 'Duplicate' but this also causes a crash. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? I think I'll need go ahead and submit a bug report because I really can't think of why this should be the case.
The only workaround I have thought of is to create new sequences and drag the contents of each of my old timelines into new, revisable sequences while still retaining my old originals.
I'm on a PC with Windows 7 Professional and have all the updates for the newest version of Premiere CC

Sounds similar to what's happening to me. I'm on a Mac with Premiere CC.
When I try and duplicate audio tracks, crashes almost every time.

I've recently installed Premiere Pro CC and there are loads of presets missing on the new sequences dialogue box.
Beside, I can't open and preview MP4 file which works fine in CS6.

  • Crash rendering sequence with titles, Premiere Pro CC

Just establishing fresh thread for CC from the reply I posted in the Premeire CS6 thread.
    Summary with updates:
After adding titles from Premeire's bult in titler, on a 1080/24p sequence containing a mix of 4k R3D and 1080 ProRes 422 files, I received the following error when trying to render *some* of the clip previews with those title overlays:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
Subsequently, Premeire wouldn't actually shut-down, but switch to a recovery file.
Disabling the title on the 2nd layer would result in the underlying video rendering without issue.  Trashing media cache files did not remedy the problem.
Exporting video seems to function, though the render/export times have quadrupled from before adding the simple, text-over-video titles to the project.  A 15 minute sequence containing 70% 4k raw/30% 1080 ProRes422 and with roughly 3 minutes of title overlays is about an 8 hour render vs. 2 hours without the titles.
System specs 2.53 GHz i5 Macbook Pro, 8GB RAM, OS 10.7.5

Well, certainly one of my sequences (let's call it "A") always causes a crash.  Sequence B was NOT causing a crash last week.  Today sequence B started crashing (in 7.0).  So I updated to 7.01 and tried again.  Still crashing (always, now).  So I set out to create a new sequence C.
To create sequence C, I opened a successfully completed project from last week.  I Saved As... "New Opening Sequences".  Next, I cut away every sequence except for the sequence that holds the intro.  I did a Project > Remove Unused to get rid of all the footage, titles, etc.  Now I had a project that only contained Sequence C and it's linked media.  Nothing is offline.  Everything is in tact.
Finally, I open the project I need to finish today.  I need to add the bumper to the front of the video.  So I navigate within the Media Browser to find the "New Opening Sequences" project.  I double click.  I get the yellow, dynamic link-like loading bar.  When the project media, bins and sequences appear, I double-click the sequence I want to impor.... KKKKKEHEHHE!!!  Crash.
I'll restart to get you the exact error message...
WOW!!!  I just left this window open to go get the exact error message for you.  I went through the same steps above.  It worked this time.  So to answer your question, Sequence C is also hit or miss.  This is the first successful attempt today (about 10 previous tries, restarts, etc).
Definitely seems like a bug.  Can anyone else reproduce this crash?
P.S. - Perhaps it's significant, perhaps not:  In all cases, A, B and C, these sequences have Dynamic Linked footage from After Effects (animations).  While they do have some live-action, they are primarily AE animations.  This may help you reproduce the crash.
I'm also not running anything unusual.  Mainly the OS, a browser, Webroot SecureAnywhere (Anti-virus), Premiere.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 - Missing Sequence Presets?

    Hi -
I recently installed the Production Premium suite on a mac running snow leopard, and ran all the updates. Premiere is at version 4.2.1. When I create a new sequence, these are my preset options:
Am I missing the XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD presets, or am I just not looking in the right place?
Incidentally, when I installed the suite, I ran into a problem where After Effects wouldn't launch. This was solved by uninstalling and reinstalling that particular app. I got an error message right at the end of that re-installation (a generic DONE WITH ERRORS), but everything has been working just fine with that program. Is it possible Premiere was affected by my re-install of AE?
    Thanks for your help.
    Ed

I gave it another try, and I now have both After Effects launching and otherwise behaving as it should, and I have the missing sequence presets back in Premiere. I followed both your instructions to the letter, making sure not to open any other programs during the installation process and rebooting the computer after each step. I even ran CleanScript four times, just to make sure. (It didn't find anything, but perhaps it helped anyway?)
One other thing I did differently was to avoid the Adobe Updater. After installing CS4 this latest time, the first thing I did before adding any of the updates was to check After Effects (it launched) and Premiere (the presets were all there). On my first two installations, I just went straight from installation to having Adobe Updater download and install all the updates. It's possible that things were working fine, and the problems were introduced during the mass installation of all the updates. So this time, starting with After Effects, I downloaded just the 9.0.2 update and installed it, rebooted, and then checked both AE and Premiere - everything was still fine. Then I did the same with the 4.2.1 update for Premiere, rebooted, and checked them both - still fine. I ended up doing each app one at a time, checking along the way to make sure no particular update broke anything else in the suite. It was probably a bit overkill after those first two, but I was so close, I didn't want to screw it up by being careless.
Incidentally, after that second installation didn't work, I submitted a ticket to Adobe Customer Support. They got back to me last night, and their solution was to just download the plugins for the missing presets here:
    www.adobe.com/products/plugins/premiere/
If anyone else is having difficulty, maybe that's another way to go.
    Thanks again for your advice.
    Ed

  • CS6 Premiere Pro Sequence Preset in Windows & Mac

Recently I have downloaded the trail version of Adobe Master Collection CS6.
When I opened the Pr and trying to insert a sequence, there is only few presets.
For example, like the folder of Dv - 24P, dv - ntsc, dv - pal, dvcpro50, dvcprohd and mobile & devices.
However my friend was using Mac, he also downloaded the trail version for use.
When I opened the Pr in his mac, there are much more sequence preset!! Like AVCHD etc...
I just wonder why my windows would like that.

  • How Best to Import iPhone 4 video into Premier Pro CS5 - Settings for new import "sequence preset"?

Shooting video with my iPhone 4 (ATT version) and am trying to import file into Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) running on Macintosh OS 10.6.6.
The problem is that I am simply guessing on how to import sequence, and the result is that I am getting motion artifacts and generally inferior quality.  I am using iMovie 11 as my basis for comparison.   Not surprisingly, iMovie 11 imports from iPhone beautifully, but when I've looked around inside of it for properties, there isn't much to see.
From using Apple's built in quicktime "inspector,"  it is possible to see that iPhone4 video has following properties:
    ".mov" file
    dimensions:   1280 x 720
    codecs:  H.264, AAC

Seeking advice on how to smoothly and *losslessly* import/ingest iphone4 footage into PPro CS5.  (I am not worried about exporting for iPhone display, which is what most of the information I can find relates to).
    Thanks in advance,  Michael

    Wow.  Thanks Colin.
When I follow your approach, I don't get the same "sequence preset" dialog box popping up.
FU question, though, the motion is frequently jagged.  Is there a way to smooth out/increase the quality of the rendering?    I have 16gb ram, Mac Pro.   which is able to handle iPhone video rending fine in quicktime.   (I've tried rendering for "performance" and "memory" but both seem to produce, eh results.).

  • CS6 crashing when sequence settings are changed

When I launch CS6 and select a new doc - it had default settings for the sequence. When I change them to DSLR - or anything but default......CS6 crashes, does not say why & shuts down. Tried changing them after setting everything else - same result.
    Running a HP 8770w Elitebook
    32G RAM
    SSD primary
    twin SATA's raided
nVidia K5000M (supported_cuda_card.txt in Adobe changed to read Quadro K5000M)
Any thoughts? I cannot get PPCS6 to run anything if I change the setting.

I'm sorry if I was not clear. I was referring to sequence presets. If you do not choose the proper one BEFORE working it screws up the footage. Sure, you can change the presets once working - but that crashed it too. Loved the comment though!!
On a fresh load of CS6 - the default sequence preset settings are other than DSLR - which is what I use. SO, you either change them in the first window, or do so after the sequence is open & running. Neither would work and crashed out as soon as you touch a button other than the default camera setting. We tried a number of different approaches to get the proper setting loaded. Nothing.
It turns out it's all an Adobe/nVidia issue. CS6 Premiere does not dig the Quadro K5000M.
But, after repeated attempts we found a workaround.
Fresh install of CS6 - restart
Edit the cuda_supported_cards.txt file as described in these Forums. Restart
Hack the card itself - restart
launched CS6 Premiere Pro & not only is the card there - but fully operational.
Results of speed tests in HD & 4K were amazing - this is realtime editing - finally.
