Premiere CS4 - AEP problem

I have recently upgraded from Production Premium CS3 to CS4 to make use of the batch render facility in Premiere. I have a rather large CS3 project that opens fine (OK some of the garbage mattes seem to have moved, but I can fix them).
My main problem is that this project contains 100s of AEP files (short keyed out green screen clips). These are all fine in After effects, and all show in the project fine. Appear on the timeline and appear fine in the source monitor. But will not appear on the main stage view and do not appear in the render.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Am I missing something so blatently obvious I need to hang my head in shame. Or are there any other work arounds I can do. Im losing sleep over this.
I'm running Premiere CS4 4.2.1, AE CS4 9.0.2 on Mac (OS 10.5.8) 2.66 quad core with 8GB of 1066 mhz DDR
Many thanks in advance.
Paul

A couple of things you can try:
Import the CS3 project into a new CS4 project, rather than just opening it.
Re-import the AE comp(s) via File | Adobe Dynamic Link from inside the new CS4 project.
Wait a while and see if the Keylight comps eventually show their video.  Dynamic Link is sometimes slower than you think it should be.

  • Premiere CS4 effects problem

i have recently upgraded from CS3 to 4 and have been experiencing lots of issues with a project that begun life in CS3, the first of these were a problem with AEP files (with keylight) not appearing or rendering from Premiere. So I rendered off all teh AEP files as quicktime with alpha and used these files in the project instead.
Now I am applying sharpen and contrast and brightness effects to these Movs and they appear to go all blurred in the Project, CS3 used to do this, but on the final render all appeared OK. It new seems that when I render in CS4 the blurriness is taken into the render and the final movies look awful.
Any ideas? It took me 60 hours to render all these quicktime files out of After effects and I'd rather not go down the route of having to do all that again.
    Many thanks in advance
    Paul

assuming the problem is only in adobe apps and not anything else right?
    Hmm...
Well, you can try some of these things
trash the prefs and clean media cache, though I doubt it will help you in this case
try with a new project and see if the problem persists
uninstall ALL plugins and see if that corrects the issue (clearly HFX5 was never meant for CS4 at a minimum and I'm not a fan of old boris stuff - very buggy)
uninstall and reinstall the Adobe apps and see if that fixes the issue.  If it does add back in CS4 compatible plugins only one at a time and see if the problem returns.
also what os are you using and how much memory do you have?  could you be running out of memory on a 32bit os?

  • Premiere CS4 Export Problems

I have been having some problems with exporting a video with Premiere/Media Encoder CS4. Here is the file type - .mov SD widescreen and HV30 .m2t HD files. In a 720p sequence. The first problem was that it will not export any image file types. Next when I try to export certain file types it has issues - for quicktime and WMV I remember it would not work. The only one that would work was H.264 (I didn't try them all) Any ideas?

    Hi,
The usb hard drive is probably too slow to edit with. Most people only use usb drives for storage.
I would suggest you make sure your project file isnt on that drive and would move your assets off that drive into your c drive if thats all you have. You could use and external firewire 800 drive, or esata would be even better. Maybe clear as much space as you can from your c drive and defragment it, make sure your pagefile is set to 1.5 times your memory and try it that way.  You really should have only program files on your c drive, projects files on a 2nd drive and assets on a 3rd drive...and drives should be only about 1/2 full...
There's threads here about how to set up your system for editing.. especially in the hardware forum.
I personally only have two internal drives with programs on c drive and projects and assets on 2nd drive.  The 2nd drive is 1Terabyte 7200rpm ( pagefile on 2nd drive also )...the drive is about 3 percent full....as I only have little SD projects on it now...and I dont even try to edit HD stuff...as my computer is not powerful enough.
    using CS3...
I have an intel dual core 2.6 ghz, 4gig ram, windows xp, 2 hard drives sata, 7200rpm.  If I edit more than a couple minutes of HD with transitions my computer starts to slow up so much its retarded to even try to edit that....

endet nach Export ob in 264 oder 264 Blu-Ray mit 1920-1080 oder 1440 kurz VOR DEM ENDE nach ca. 8 Stunden mit dem Hinweis:
„ You can´t presently use this aplication because your Matrox Video hardware is being used by another appliaction or the hardware is not available.“

  • Premiere cs4 crash problem, review my hardware please!

I have recently purchased a canon hf200 hd camcorder for my wife's work, when i edit her work on my computer, it crashes after a while.
I read that it would be best to set up a second account on my computer for work/edit and put the preferences for the computer on best performance.
couple questions...what are the best windows settings {home premium sp1 64bit} for video editing.
and these are the components of my computer, I don't understand the 3rd hard drive that I need on raid 0 if someone could explain this to me.
i have a few hundred I can put into upgrades and such if need be.

  • Premiere CS4: Befehl "Videoüberblendungen anwenden"

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 Export  Quality Problems

I recently purchased a non-linear editing machine with an RTX2 Matrox Card and CS4 Professional. After six or seven projects, I finally noticed that all my imported .avi files exported through Adobe Media Encoder and burned through Encore CS4 are not as crisp, sharp, or look like the original high quality SD footage after the DVD is burned like it always used to look in CS2. ( jumped from CS2 to CS4)
These DVDs were of plays, football, and basketball games. It seems that when the camera shoots a close up, the video looks fine but after you shoot from a distance, there is a considerable difference in the footage. ( alomost blurry) I just caught this and nobody has complained but I watched one of my older DVDs I produced with CS2 and it had no quality loss whatsoever. There is a night and day difference
For the sequences, I am using Matrox SD, NTSC, Standard, 720 x 486  and capturing with firewire through the Matrox card. The raw footage is beautiful. The Video Preview Option is NTSC Standard and the Codec is NTSC Matrox DV/DV Cam.
I can playback a timeline from the Matrox card and burn directly to a DVD burner and the footage is perfect, but when I export, I have chosen Microsoft .avi file, Matrox DV/DV Cam/ MPEG2, and MPEG2DVD.
I have even changed the sequences codec to Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame and tried exporting using that out of Adobe Media Encoder and am getting the same results.
None of my customers have complained yet, but I definitely do not want to continue producing almost blurry DVDs.
I am using Adobe Premiere CS4 Version 4.1.0 and Encore CS4 Version 4.0.1.048 and Matrox Version 4.1.0.23
Can this problem be related to and eliminated by updating my CS4 Production Suite and my Matrox Software.
I was wondering if anyone had experienced this same issue and what solution they came up with or if anyone knew if the updates would correct this important issue. I just filmed a lengthy play that I have to author through Encore CS4 and I cannot release any more of my productions until this problem is solved. This is a big dollar production and I need some assistance on this matter as soon as possible. Thanks  Jimi White

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I just purchased my non-linear with CS4 Production Suite and the Matrox RTX2. I have several projects that I am working on right now and I was advised by Adobe, Matrox, and my non-linear vendor, 1 Beyond, to finish those projects before performing updates.
I also found out that If I export using the MPEG2  8Mbps, it cleared up the video dramatically. We had to go through a number of export presets in order to find out what worked best in Encore. I am going to try to finish the project now and will advise on the results.
This is a basketball highlight DVD and that's when I noticed the problem. My other productions were photos to music, and non sporting events and I didn't notice any problems with those DVDs ( they actually looked decent. Worst part about it was, I finished the project once and burned 18 DVDs, and then reviewed one of them and found the problem. I have to start over and just eat the DVDs printed and all.
Thanks again, it was nice of you to get back to me.
    Jimi

  • Problems With Camptasia AVI File in Premiere CS4

    Hi everyone,
I need help with the creating a video in Premiere CS4 using some Camptasia AVI files. I have used Camptasia to include a voice-over into a presentation and then saved it as an AVI file. I was able to include that AVI file into my Project in CS4 and edit it there adding to video files transferred from the camera. The problem came up when I tried to export the CS Project as an AVI or FLV file. It does not save the entire video but rather saves only the first couple of minutes of it. Can someone recommend me what to do?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Bahar

The problem is in the file itself. You set up your project in premiere at 30fps and imported file from camtasia studio does not have that frame rate. Camtasia does not have a good and fast enough codeck that would record 30fps. So premiere will try to recompress your file to proper structure with 30fps thus will give you the output of a very short file.
Camtasia have another software that is designed to capture needed frame rate but it is available only to the big companies.
I have tried this soft and ran into this problem and camtasia replied to me whit statement that this soft is not designed to capture full frame rate video.

  • Premiere CS4 capture tool problem

    Hello there,
I am experiencing a weird problem with Premiere CS4. I am not able to capture DV footage from my Sony DSR-PDX10P. When I open the Capture window (F5), it's working very slowly compared to anything else with the software. If I have the camera connected through firewire, it most often crashes. It does recognize the camera and if it doesn't crash, it states "stopped" but fails to show the footage when I run it. Preview screen stays black. A few times I have managed to get a record command through, whichafter Pr states "recording" but the counter stays at 00:00:00:00 and afterwards gives me "No frames were recorded" or a similar message. Anything I do within the Capture window happens like 5-10 seconds after I've given a command.
I know the problem isn't firewire-related, because OnLocation CS4 works like it should. DV footage from the camera can be watched and recorded without a problem. And the .avi files recorded in OnLocation open up in Premiere nicely. Otherwise Premiere is working just fine.
Possibly the strangest thing is that less than 2 weeks ago I used the capture function with the same camera without any problems. The only thing in my setup that has changed since was the installation of Microsoft Silverlight (which sucks but I needed to watch a video that required it - stupid move though). I have tried uninstalling it and opening a restore point before it was installed - without an effect.
I know I CAN still record footage through OnLocation, so this is not lifethreatning. I'd still prefer Premiere and of course would like to know what the hell is wrong with the capture tool. Or whatever the cause may be.
(Btw, another problem I have, more of a sidenote here but if someone would have an idea, has to do with AE CS4's RAM preview - it works once just fine, then crashes. Haven't had any problems with that before and it also worked like it should a few weeks back. Wonder if these two problems (AE and Pr) could be strangely connected? I've tried different settings (with and without OpenGL, Prevent DLL Address Space Fragmentation and different CPU/RAM level combinations) without effect - and again, with the settings I had it did work a few weeks ago)
I've started a thread once before with a CS4 problem so if need be, you can check my (unchanged) hardware data here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2488816#2488816
I'm eager to hear if someone would have an idea. Thanks!
    Greets,

See if one of these works better...
    SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html
Do note that the demo version of ScenalyzerLive puts a watermark in the files it creates

  • Video audio problem when import to premiere CS4

I have a file encode by flash media live encoder and I try to edit in premiere CS4 but when I import the file the video audio is not synchronised. The recorded file play run good in adobe media player. Any sugestions? Thanks in advance.

Going back a bit over a year, there was a thread on this forum, where the OP needed to use the Flash Live Recorder, as there were both streaming material from lectures and then edited material to go up on their intranet Web site for later viewing. That poster had similar issues with the live material, IIRC.
I am certain that this thread was after the forum change over, so should still be on the servers. Wish that I could recall more details, but in the end, the OP found resolution to the problem. I know that I participated, but from the side lines. Seems that there was even footage of a rock performance involved in the feed and I edited the FLV material on my PrPro 2.0 with Moyea FLV Importer for Premiere plug-in. I'll look in my e-mail and YouSendIt account to see if I can find the poster's name (might not be his Adobe screen name), but a Search of this forum ought to turn up something. I'll also do a Search and maybe between us, we can find that thread, as there might be some useful tips in it.
In the meantime, maybe this ARTICLE can help you edit the OOS issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere CS4 horrible stutter (ATI Radeon 5750 as problem?)

Hello! I've just come across a very frustrating problem. When I try to edit videos with Premiere CS4, the preview speed is horribly laggy. It doesn't matter what I edit, HD or SD, it is just stuttering so that any work is merely impossible.
The funny thing is, that I have been able to edit even very heavy HD-projects without problems in past with same system. I had 3-4 months pause from video editing, and something has happened in that time. I remember updating ATI drivers in that period so it might be the cause. Or not. Nothing major has changed, I've installed some regular OS updates and thats it. No hardware changes or anything like that.
I have read about compatibility issues with Radeon 5750 and Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 (64bit). So I thought this would be proper area to start looking into. I would like to see if there is something new where to look at before I have to format my whole drive and install everything again. Which is pain because I have no other problems with my system.
I've already tried ATI rollbacks, various driver versions and system restore. Nothing has helped. I also tried same drivers which I knew for sure that were installed and worked last time I succesfully edited something. No use. I've yet not tried installing Premiere again, and I would not happily do it because very buggy licensing system (I have licensed retail version) which can kill the whole CS product family. I rather format the whole OS drive.
Is there any first hand knowledge on this, or any suggestions?

My 3 hard drives are configured as...
    1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320Gig data for Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input & output files (*)

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used the eSata Dock below... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Problem opening a Premiere cs3 project in Premiere cs4

i recently did a clean install on a new machine with adobe premiere cs4
i attempted to open the project in adobe cs4 that i created in adobe cs 3
( i confirmed that the project isnt corrupted as the same project plays fine on another machine that has cs3 running)
Here is what happens When i open the project in cs4 it goes through the stages below and keeps looping and indexing.
*first pass: i first see adobe indexing the project and there is a  media pending display in the program display and on the time line the thumbnails have not been created where the edits are.
    * second pass: adobe finishes the indexing and then i see adobe looping again to conforming the video again, there is still a media pending display in the program display  but this time the thumbnails have appeared on the timeline and i see the subclips in the project bin.
    * Adobe stops indexing but there is still the media pending display on the program display so then i grab the timeline slider to scroll throught the project and then the indexing process starts all over again in this endless loop.
The project is located on a local drive and i turned off indexing on the drive.
I also tried deleting the rendered and preview files from the cs3 copied project , hoping that
CS4 would recreate everything. and still no luck
Any specific steps that i can do to trouble shoot this problem

When one Opens a CS3 Project in CS4, there is a lot of work that needs to be done. I'd Open the Project, and go get some coffee (decaf, so you will not loose your patience). Just let it do its thing with no input to the computer at all. Come back in 5 - 10 mins. and see if all have been completed. Be patient.
If you are actually getting a loop in the Conforming, Indexing and the rest - remember be patient - then close down and reboot. Try Importing the CS3 Project into a New Project in CS4 to see if things improve.
BTW did I mention being patient?
    Good luck,
    Hunt
