Premiere CS4 Newbie Help Please

This might be long. I've watched all of the Lynda Videos as well as the Adobe TV tutorials in preparation to do a video presentation for my company.
Shockingly, I know how to do all of the important stuff like adding text, titles and editing clip etc, but I'm unable to even start properly.
I will be capturing a screen presentation at 1440x900 and then working from there. The problem is that resolution is too large, obviously, to use as my final video but I don't know how to size it down to a more appropriate size like half of that, i.e., 720x450. Unfortunately when I start the project and choose the sequence preset resolution (which seems mandatory) that isn't one of the options.
I guess, basically, I need to know which is the best available preset to choose and how to get my 1440x900 movie to fit into that size (its going to be a high res Youtube vid)?
Secondly, is there a good starter book that might walk you through a cs4 project from start to finish?

Here is the beginning lesson:
Your Project/Sequence Preset must match your source footage 100%, or there will be issues along the way.
Set that correctly, and even use the Desktop Preset, adjusting your parameters, if necessary. Import, edit and THEN, when you are done, you will Export to what is required.
With HD material to SD (seems to be the case here), Jeff Bellune's tutorial might be useful for ultimate quality. This ARTICLE has links to that.

Most likely, your older version of CS4 no longer supports converting your newer camera's raw files. You could check to see if you have the latest version of camera raw for CS4, but I'm doubting that it will handle your camera, which you didn't mention which one it is. You can also download the current dng converter so that you can convert your raw file to the version of camera raw that CS4 supports.

Premiere CS4 playback help...

I just got Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and I noticed that the program has a lot of trouble playingback my videos, whether it's .avi, .wmv, .m2ts(AVCHD).The videos lag a lot and it's just as bad even when they are rendered.
I have all the presets set correctly and I'm sure my specs matches. Sometimes I get a message saying that premiere is running low on memory, but that can't be the case, since the requirements indecate that I only need 2G Ram and I have 4G Ram.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean by their, speed, controller type and how allocated, or how to get that info.
OK, we've got a good start. Let me try to step you though the rest:
For "speed," I'm asking for the speed of the HDD's in RPM. Chances are likely they are 5400RPM, or 7200RPM. It could also be that they are 10000RPM, though that might be most likely for only your C:\.
Controller type refers to how the HDD's are connected to the MoBo, i.e. SATA II, ATA-100, etc. This data should be readily available via Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Disk drives. Then go to Details.
The "how allocated," refers to how you and Windows are using the HDD's. An example would be:
C:\OS, programs and Windows' Virtual Memory (Page File), D:\media, PrPro Project and all Scratch Disks. While you are at this, check the Windows' Memory Management to, to tell us whether your Page File is static (set size and location), or is dynamic (Windows sets this, as is needed).
I am assuming that both your C:\ and your D:\ are each physical HDD's and are not logical drives, i.e. partitioned, and that they are both internal, and that D:\ is not an external. Is that correct?
The first thing that I see is that D:\ is getting very, very full. Depending on your answers to the above, that might play a bit of a roll in the equation.

Can I transfer my itunes to a MP3 player? newbie, help please

Hi, I need your help. I have a HP Media Center PC with all bells and whistles. I just learned about itunes. I downloaded a free song. I have also gotten 5 songs for free from a website called Connect (run by Sony).
what I was expecting to do was to go to Radio shack and purchase an MP3 player for $59.99. It's about all I can afford.
then I found out that the songs I downloaded from Connect cannot be transferred to an mp3 player unless it is a Sony MP3 player. The mp3 player in Radio Shack was not a Sony. but I did ask the salesman if I could do itunes with this and he said "sure". but I'm not sure now. I have read about all kinds of formats with downloading these songs. such as OPENMG format and something called ATRAC. See where I'm getting confused?
What I need to know is this: If I purchase songs from itunes and it goes on my hard drive, can I then purchase the mp3 player and transfer the songs so I can go for a walk and play my mp3 player. I can't afford an ipod.
Do I have to buy a special mp3 player to be able to use itunes. I can't find any information on this on the site.
I am a disabled person and could use some help.
thanks to anybody who can help me. Just need to know exactly what I should be buying to play songs on and do I have to download the songs in a special way or does itunes just do it for me. Also, I don't have an apple computer. but I have an APPLE user ID. Very confusing.

Okay, let me see if I have this right.
I have a HP Pavillion Media Center. this should allow me to burn cds, right? I have never done this in my life but believe me I learn fast. I have two drives that I'm looking at right now on my tower.
The top drive says LightScribe DVD+-/CD Writer
The other drive says CD rom.
I presume, to burn a cd (or whatever it's called), I use the top Lightscribe thing, right?
so I guess I have to get a blank cd rewritable thing, place it in the top drive and copy the sonic stage (sony) songs onto that right? then I can get the ipod and transfer from the newly burned cd into the ipod, right?
I have absolutely no idea how to accomplish this but I'm willing to at least do the first step and burn the cd.
Now, here's my question. Many years ago, when I had my other HP pavillion,it came with a re-writable drive. I tried to burn something to it and I did not know what I was doing. I do remember that the cd was some kind of RW thing.
I probably have one of those in my house. They are over 5 years old. Is this what I have to use to put the songs on it.
do I have to go to the computer store and buy a new blank cd-rw (if that is indeed what I will be using).
I want to know exactly what kind of blank cd thing I have to put in the drive. And do I use the one marked Lightscribe.
See, once I know what to do, I'll figure out how to do it.
I'm going to search my room to find one of the old blank ones but I won't use it until you say, "yes, use it.".
I know I used to have a case of them. Never used them but they are still around.
Are they still compatible with my windows xp, HP Pavillion media center.
And I should tell you what I tried to do last night. I was researching all about converting files and I saw something that said "drag the files into your itunes folder and you should have the songs in their". so stupid me, I go to my start menu, open up the explore thing, I find the "sonic stage" thing, I see the itunes thing, I dragged and sonic stage into the itunes thing and sure enough, right in front of me a little message popped up showing me it was "copying files to itunes". So I said "holy sh*t, I actually did it", "i'm going to see my songs in my itunes folder". Well, that didn't happen. I opened up my itunes library and only my original itunes song was there. No songs from the sonic stage library was put in.
I have no idea what was copied into what. So what exactly did I do?

Newbie help please: "Validation of XML file failed."

Hopefully my question is short and easy.
I'm a developer and haven't used FrameMaker before. However for unforeseen reasons, I've inherited our technical help documentation constructed in FrameMaker which I've never used. Unfortunately I'm under a very tight deadline and I'm attempting to update our already existing and fairly extensive application help files.
However, I'm getting a "Validation of XML file failed" error for 90% of our .xml help docs. I opened our .book file in FrameMaker fairly easily, and can see all of our .xml files. However the variables already embedded in the documents aren't being recognized and seem to be causing the above error. I've located our variable definition files (xml) in the concepts folder, but FrameMaker doesn't seem to recognize them. Any suggestions on what I can check or how I can get FM to refer to the variable definitions? I'm working with a new installation of FM, is there some setup I overlooked?

Curve 8520 set-up newbie help please - have wifi but no browser, no internet, no email

I have just acquired this near-new pre-owned Curve. It appeared to have been correctly data-cleared by the previous owner. I've run the set-up wizard and everything worked fine. It's connected to my wifi with a strong signal. But
1. the browser says "Unable to connect to the Internet - contact your service provider", and
2. the email set-up screen does not offer "I want to create or add an email address" as in the User Guide - only "I want to use a work email account" which I don't have and don't want! The screen message says if the "add email address"' option is not shown, contact your wireless provider.
I don't understand! If my TalkTalk broadband (wifi) is connecting my laptop to the internet with no problem, what more do I have to do to get the Blackberry (connected to the same wifi) onto the internet too?
3. And how do I connect to the internet via the phone (Vodafone PAYG) when I am not in wifi range?
Finally:
4. Why does my phone say "unknown number" when it's calling out? The User Guide says it should show my own number. Surely it knows this number from the Sim card?
Completely out of my depth here, as you can see....

Hiya, as per the messages your phone is giving you.... You need to contact Vodafone.
In order to use the majority of data features on your phone such as email or BBM, you need a blackberry data plan rather than the generic one from your carrier.
So give Vodafone a call - I believe the BlackBerry Bolt On on PAYG is £5 a month with some inclusive data.

Contribute CS4 Newbie Help

Hello, I just downloaded the free trial version of Contribute
CS4...installation when alright but when I try to open Contribute
it takes quite a long time and then when it finally opens I get an
error message that says Suitcase is having trouble opening specific
Helvetica fonts. Is this a Contribute issue...a CS4 issue...a
Suitcase issue...or do I have some corrupt fonts?
What I'm running:
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Suitcase X1
I also have been running CS3 and this is the first CS4
program I am trying.
Also on a side note. I have another question about
Contribute. I am looking at getting a CMS for some clients and one
of my friends suggested Contribute...my question to the Contribute
community is what are you takes on Contribute being a viable CMS?
And, if I were to chose to use Contribute would my clients need to
purchase Contribute to author the website...how does that process
work?

I have just started an online class for oracle 10g . Iam trying to upload some book scripts for my class that I uploaded from www.course.com. they are stored on my c: drive as C:\Course Technology\83629-x\Chap 2
when I enter start C:\Course Technology\83629-x\Chap 2 an error code comes up as SP2-0310: unable to open file "C:\Course.sql"
any help would be greatly appreciated. I am sure I will be back with tons of questions since this is my first time using this program

Mac Newbie - Help Please (LDAP)

I recently took over supporting a compies IT needs. Small non profit that has about 5 remote macs that connect to a mac mini. I have never really used macs before this so I am a bit out of my element.
Just this past weekend the server was moved to a new location and got a new IP address, and now I can not connect to the directory (right now I am trying to get into the work group manager. And when I try to connect to the directory with the password that was origanly setup as the directory manager. Saying that it can't find it on the network (sounds about right as the mac server has a new IP address now)
I am just wondering if there is a spot I can put in the new IP address of the server so it sees the directory, or if you can point me to some documentation. I would prefer the first as they can't do any work now because the server doesn't see their accounts.

It's my understanding that if you go to hp website and get the drivers for the HP1022 printer that will work. If it doesn't DO THE BELOW STEPS:
If you aren't already on OSX 10.4.8, upgrade now and then follow these steps:
For The MacBook:
1) Disconnect the HP 1020 if it is currently connected to the MacBook.
2 Download; http://www.narc.ca/1601-LJ1022_SeriesOSX.dmg (Old version)
2) Delete anything for the HP 1020 in Printer in "Printer Setup Utility"
3) If you have anything for the HP 1020 (or the 1022 from a failed installation) in "/Library/Reciepts" delete it.
4) Remove the 1020Series folder from "/Library/Printers/hp/laserjet" directory if it exists.
5) Reset the print system from the Printer Setup Utility
6) Reboot (the HP 1020 is still disconnected from the MacBook)
7) Run the installer package downloaded in step 2
8) Shut down the MacBook completely
9) While the MacBook is off, connect the HP 1020 and power the PRINTER on.
10) Power on the MacBook
11) Add new printer in "Printer Setup Utility", select HP LaserJet 1020, driver should come up, click ADD

I just picked up a ReadyNAS NV and 4x320 GB HDDs running in the default X-RAID (which I will keep). I read through the users manual and went through each setting in detail trying to set it to meet my needs although as a new user I do not understand fully a lot of them.
Now I am trying to understand how to exactly 'use' the NAS with my MacBook, my wife's MacBook, my home PC (relegated now to a few games) and my current Roku Soundbridge M2000 media setup and future Sonos setup (hopefully).
I am trying to understand how to have the NAS accessable on the MacBook. I am able to see the Shares I have created by going through the process of clicking on Network, etc, etc. Is there a better, easier way? Do I have to click on these each and every time I boot up my MacBook?
Looking forward to your, and others, experiences, setups and processes...
