Premiere CS4 Rendering very slow

recently premier started rendering very slow after making a change to an effect or adding something, etc..
No hardware or software has been added or changed, have tried defragging, updating drivers, etc.  Is there some sort of cache or flush I don't know about that premiere uses?
If anyone has any suggestions I am willing to try almost anything because hours of googling have not brought me any luck.
Here are my computer specs right from dxdiag :

One hard drive means one set of read/write heads... which can not be in two places at the same time
When parts of the program or swap file are being read from or written to... the data files suffer

You really need a 2nd hard drive for video files... I haven't looked in a long time, but I think the official system requirements on Adobe's page even says something about a DEDICATED 7200rpm drive for files

  • SSRS Subreport - Renders very slow

    Hi All,
I have a subreport which is embedded in the main report (form report) which is inturn embedded in a list. The report is executed for different levels with each level having different number of records (say 100, 150, etc.) and gives us a form for each
of the records on a single page. That is the report will have 150 pages for 150 records. My subreport renders very fast when it is run stand alone. Even the SPs written for the subreport are giving results within seconds. But when embedded in the main
report, the whole report is rendering very slow.
I tried passing the parameters to the subreport in two different ways:
    1. Assigned the main dataset's record id to the subreport which gives correct data but taking very long time to generate the report.
    2. Assigned the main dataset's record id to a hidden parameter and passing that parameter to the subreport as a parameter. This way the report renders very fast but the subreport is always giving the results for the first record id. That is even for the
second record, the subreport is showing up the first record's details which is incorrect.
Have been struggling with this issue for a while. Request you to help me in this regard.
    Regards,
    Bala.

    Hi Bala,
According to your description, it seems that the issue is caused by the parameters. Please check the parameters setting of each subreport control in the main report. Make sure the data types are the same between the parameters, and the values passed to the
    subreport parameters are correct.
As to the report performance, we can refer to the ExecutionLog View to monitor it. The total time to generate a reporting server report (RDL) can be divided into 3 elements:
Total time = (TimeDataRetrieval) + (TimeProcessing) + (TimeRendering)
For more details about troubleshooting report performance, please refer to the following documents:

  • Importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow

importing and exporting from cc premiere pro is very slow, the system has i7 processor and memory is 64 gb and has internal raid storage. what could be the issue.

If you would like to test the tuning and setup of your Premiere installation go to our Premiere Pro BenchMark PPBM, the Instructions page has the download file.  This single download can test Premiere 6, 7 or 8 with the identical benchmark.  We maybe able to tell you why you are having problems.

  • How do I fix CS4 from rendering very slow?

I just swithced from CS3 to CS4. The process went well and I did not have to reinstall CS4 to access my projects; thanks to all your help.
    After installing CS4 I uninstalled CS3 then I defragged.
Now rendering takes a very long time in CS4.
What is the magic button I need to push to speed things up?
    I have Vista 64 bit
    8GB RAM
    6000X2 at3.1Hz processor

Is the slow render issue happening when you open a CS3 *.prproj with Premiere CS4?  We've had many issues with CS3 projects opened with CS4.  For example, stuttering video that has blur effects applied.  I recommend you avoid doing that. Many have reported that CS3 and CS4 can peacefully co-exist on the same system. That may be your solution if you need to revisit CS3 projects.
Then of course there is the issue of hardware specs. CS4 runs great on the new Intel i7 processors with lots of RAM...6GB+. Harm has a good article on video editing hardware specs. The only point I disagree with is on packing a full tower case full of high capacity hard drives. We have found that in many cases when one of our editing system slows to a crawl, the cause is a hard drive that has one type of issue or another. One workaround if you want to load up on internal drives is a quality hot-swappable cage that holds multiple drives. Kingwin has a model for instance that holds 4 drives and uses up only 3 DVD-sized computer case openings. There could be drive cooling issues with the Kingwin product because the included fans are small and some have claimed, "cheap".
We use the Panasonic P2 cameras. The video looks great and the resolution is all that we need for the type of work that we do. Editing is smooth when we edit P2 on external drives connected via E-Sata. This keeps the internal drives to a minimum.
I would take a look at the new SSDs for your system drive, and install two additional internal drives. Look at the consumer drive ratings on newegg.com.  For example, some of the Seagate 1.5's have reliability issues.

  • Preview rendering Very Slow

    Hi,
Can anyone help with Preview.app slow rendering issue for large PDF files, it is very slow after upgrading to lion. (AutoCAD drawings that are PDFed)
    Small PDF documents are fine.

Hi Guys I work with a lot of pdf files with being a student at uni and not sure these tips might help.
Try an app called skim which is free it handles pdfs nicely and looks similar to the preview app.
Also if a pdf is slow to scroll try selecting all the pages goto file print.  Then on the bottom left hand side of the print window select pdf and then save as pdf.  I have found on some pdfs (usually the ones in black and white and look like a photo copy) using the the print save as pdf option has then allowed me to view a pdf fine in the preview app without any issues.  Hope this is useful.
I suspect its to do with pixels per inch or dots per inch of the document.

  • Premiere elements 13 very slow in new mac book pro

    Good Morning
I've just bought and installed premiere elements 13 in my new mac book pro (yosemite 10.10.2) 16gb RAM.
The program is going very slow and the user experience is terrific
I have also big problem with three -way color corrector: when apply this effect never change in image.
    Any suggestion?
Maybe there is big incompatibility with Yosemite?
    Thanks

  • FOI theme (Oracle Maps) rendering very slow

I sniffed the network traffic when a FOI theme is rendered on a map. I determined that for each feature of the theme a network request is sent to the server fetching the corresponding marker. Fetching markers has a big impact on the performance.
I think that fetching the same marker for each feature is not nessary.
Is there a way (undocumented feature or patch) to avoid this from happening?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeroen

    Hi,
Experienced the same issue. I would like to hear from Oracle Maps development team if they are going to do something with it because our Map with active theme is very slow (rendering of markers and also panning the map). Without active markers it's fast.
    thanks,

  • Premiere CS4 Renders incorrectly

I am having issues with rendering is Premiere CS4. Everytime I import files (png, gif, swf) and try to render them they are distorted.  I pay close attention to match the original file settings in my presets and have used the interpret footage option and that doesn't either. I am using a custom setting with a square pixel ratio and 24 fps.  Any ideas?

    JSS1138 wrote:
I guess the point I was trying to make is that you don't edit swf files.  You create them when you're done editing standard camera media.
I agree.  Is there a reason for using swfs?  Are you creating some animation effects in Flash or are you using swf sources that you didn't create yourself?
Do the images look distorted in Premiere or is it just when you export?  If it's just when you export it sounds like the export has different aspect ratio settings than your project.  Check to make sure all of your export settings match your project (Especially Frame size and Pixel aspect ratio).
I usually try to use 32-bit targa files for still images or a Photoshop .psd file since both can retain the alpha information.  JPEGs work well also, but can't hold alpha info.  Can you bring some of your images into Photoshop, convert them and see if that helps?

  • Premiere Pro Project Very Slow To Load....Why?

    Hello All
Really hope that someone can suggest a reason as to why I may be experiencing this problem.  Firstly, heres the problem:
Problem: I open a Premiere Project and it opens up.  The bar at the bottom reports that all media is loaded, however my thumbnails are very slow to populate and then be hover scrubbable (new verb!).  Not only that the timeline thumbnails take ages to update and are not available for me to begin scrubbing through right away. Very frustrating.
    Here's some facts:
    System Hardware:
    2013 Mac Pro; 3Ghz 8 Core Model; 32 GB RAM; Dual D700s 6GB
SSD - Mac Standard 512GB as boot drive and for applications
Edit Drive - Thunderbolt connected LaCie 2Big 4TB Drive x 2 (these are daisy chained via thunderbolt too and striped together in a RAID for maximum throughput) Speeds are generally in excess of 500Mbps read and write
    System Software and Information:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10
Premiere Pro Project stored on Edit Drive with all media for that project
Cache Files stored on same drive as Project (Edit Drive)
    Project Size = 48.7MB
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this problem is occurring? Previously had problems with the MacPro/GPU Mavericks 10.9.3 issue that everyone had been reporting but seems to have gone away now and after some other troubleshooting like resetting preferences and PRAM; running Safe Boot Disk Permission Repair (as recommended by Larry Jordan).
Really appreciate any help and this is a really annoying issue and is affecting our workflow hugely.
    Cheers

Hm, if the issue occurs with two different host systems, then i would rather think that there are maybe issues with the network. Are you aware of any changes/updates done by IT? Security patches, changes of software on router, ....
What you maybe can try is to isolate one of the host and connect one of the PXI using a cross cable directly to this host. Does the issue occur there again(still)?
You can format/reinstall one of the PXIs to do a cross check with one system with original state, the other with newly installed state.

  • Premiere Pro being very slow while previewing

So recently my friend sent me a png sequence with a alpha channel. And what I want to do with it is put it in Adobe Premiere with my YouTube videos I will edit it with.
But the problem was when I imported it as a png sequence in premiere and previewed the project, it stopped and started and acted very "laggy." I don't know why it is laggy because a png sequence is not a huge file.
IF anyone can help me on how to preview it without lag that would be amazing   And is there such thing as a h.264 with an alpha channel?
P.S: I did try converting the sequence into a QuickTime movie with a alpha channel. All it did was make it even more slow when previewing in premiere.

    Hi raffaele mariotti,
Please mention some more information mentioned below.
    1. Have you taken any backup through time machine for your user profile?
    2. What are the media files that you are using in Premiere Pro CC 2014 ?

  • Fireworks CS4 Working VERY SLOW after 20 minutes of work on it.

    Hi There,
I seem to have a slight problem with Adobe Fireworks CS4
speed. The program runs smooth until I use the program for about 30
    - 40 minutes. Usually I have around 5 - 8 windows opened. I am a
NORMAL user, I use it for making simple graphics, web banners and
graphics alike. I don't know why it's running SO SLOW, it just
get's LAGGY, very LAGGY, then I have to reset the process. I just
save my stuff and rerun fireworks.
    My Laptop's specs:
    Asus Mv70vm
    Windows Vista 32bit
    4 GB Ram
    Core 2 Duo T-9400
Only windows processes and anti virus is running.. (Computer
    is completely clean from malware.)
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

From what I've read, I've come to the conclusion it's a bug in Fireworks. I'll have to post my comps specs when I'm back at work but it's a ridiculous 8 core machine with a crapload of ram. I've just figured that every hour or so I have to exit the app and restart it. What happens is that it just stops displaying anything and pops a 'Not enough memory" message on every mouse-click.
I love the app, just started using it about 6 months ago, but it's really not quite on par with the bulk of the CS4 suite.
Kind of strikes me as the toy Adobe bought and tinkers with every once in awhile.
I hope they improve it because I'm loving the potential...

  • CS4 Extended VERY Slow to Open Program!!!???

I just dropped a very large sum of $ to purchase CS4 Extended and the #$*@#  thing is taking over 5 minutes to open!!! (Yes, I've timed it.) Once open it appears to run fine, although I've yet to put it through it's paces much.  The obvious answer would be that I have an undersized slow computer.  However, that is far from the case. I have a brand new Dell laptop with plenty of 'horsepower', much more than the system requirements listed on the outside of the box.  It does the same thing with both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
Here are a few of the "vitals" on the laptop:
Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit Version: 6.0 Service Pack 1
    Processor Core Duo2: 2493 MHz
    Video Card: VIDI GeForce 8600M 250MB GT/PCI/SSE2
    Built-in memory: 4093 MB
    Image cache levels: 4
    Hard Drive: 500G
Is anyone else having this problem??? If so, what have you done to solve it.  Needless to say, I'm VERY VERY disappointed at this point. I had PS7 before and should have stuck with that!
    thanks for your help

PROBLEM SOLVED:  After several hrs. with Adobe and Microsoft on the phone over the last two weeks, we soloved the problem.  Adobe never could figure out what the solution was.  However, when I installed Vista Service Pack #2 everything started to work just fine.  Now CS4 loads in about 10 seconds, like it should!
Both Microsoft and Adobe came to the conclusion that something was not working with my Dell XPS 1530 NIVIDA video driver and Photoshop.  Neither one know exaclty why SP2 soloved the problem.  Adobe is going to do some more research with Dell and NIVIDA on the issue, at least that's what he said he was going to do. Apparently I'm not the first Dell XPS 1530 with this issue.
    Thanks for everyone's help!

  • Premiere Pro CC very slow on brand new iMac

    Hi
We have bought a new iMac, set up the Creative Cloud and downloaded Premiere Pro.
We've started a few new projects on this machine and whenever we play them back, the video always freezes on a frame whilst the audio carries on playing. When pausing the playback for the visual to catch up, Premiere takes a while to respond to the pause action.
We've tried changing the video renderer to Open CL, CUDA and Software only and still no luck.
    The computer specs are:
    Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
    Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0
Any suggestions are more than welcome and I will respond with the results.
If you require anymore information then please ask and I will be happy to supply you with the details.
Thank you for your time and help in advance.

Thanks, Jason, that's what I was wondering about.  Generally, people post to forums when they have problems.
Yep.  That's usually what happens.  My review will be centered around my usual "benchmark" of editing 2 AVCHD inputs, one PiP'd into the other, synced with an external audio source, and then exported to an h.264 MP4.  CC on my current Mac Pro (modified dual 3.46Ghz Xeon, 48G, nVidia GTX570) takes that task about 1/2t, if t = length of video.  Which is pretty damned good.  I'm hoping the dual GPUs will help scale that export task down a bit more.  I don't expect it to hit 1/4t, but.. hey, maybe I'll be surprised?
I make about 60% of my living from Pr, and the rest from Ae and other apps (mostly Adobe).
Given the lack of CUDA, at the moment, I don't expect the new Mac Pro to be a stellar performer with Ae specifically.  I assume that Adobe is working on OpenCL'ing Ae as much as they possibly can.  But from what I understand, it ain't there yet.
(I'd need a TB monitor and PCI extender, too).
I can understand the need for the PCI extender, but why the TB monitor?  I'd in no way even remotely consider one of those, just given how ridiculously priced they are.  There's no need for one.  Does your display have a DP input?  You're all set.  No?  It has HDMI instead?  Still all set.  It's dual-linked DVI that becomes problematic.

  • Indesign CS4 - now very slow

On one identity (mac), our indesign is super slow.  Pinwheel displays every time we try to move an object or type character, etc.  Its seems to be less of a problem on a different identity on the same mac.
We tried everything we know to troubleshoot this issue.
    Please help.

I'm having the same problem with Dreamweaver CS4.  For the first couple months, no problems.  Now I can't get anything done.  Apparently, this is a widespread problem because I see many similar complaints in other forums.  Just FYI, I'm running a Mac Pro with 10GB of RAM and no anti-virus.  I've tried a couple supposed fixes, such as deleting the CS4 preferences file, but it has no effect.  Everytime I click in the properties window to change a table cell size for example, I have to wait about five seconds to enter a value.  This is unacceptable and if I can't find a solution soon, I'm deleting Dreamweaver and going with another designer.
