Premiere CS4 won't load

My Premiere Pro CS4 will not load.  I click to Icon in my applications folder to load it, and it begins.  Previously I downloaded a trial by Antares which is an autotune that changes your voice like Tpain.  Anyways I did not like it, I deleted it and emptied my trash.  When I go to load Premiere, it shows the files that it is loading.  Then a screen pops up from antares even though i deleted it asking me if id like to try or quit the application.  It does not matter what I click, it wont work.  The files that Premiere Pro gets stuck on is autotunemm.vst and autotuness.vst.  There may be more but those are the only ones that I can see.  I search for those files on my computer and they are not there.  Please Help.

Thanks for the hidden file suggestion.  I downloaded a program called fseventer.  It logs every file that is installed on your computer when a program is installed or opened, since many new files are installed the first time u open a program.  I started recording , and downloaded Antares again.  Then i installed and and used fseventer to see where all the files were installed on my computer.  I noticed that two files were installed into the library, audio, plug-ins. vst, and then there were the two hidden files, autotunemm.vst and autotuness.vst.  I put those files into the trash and PR opened up like a dream. I cant thank you enough for helping me.  Prior to this i even uninstalled an reinstalled cs4.  What a waste of time.  Thanks again

  • Premiere 12 won't load media

Why won't my premiere 12 add some videos from my digital camera but will load other videos from the same camera?

We have Windows 8.1.  My camera puts out MTS video, but it fails with these as well as MPG video that I convert.  I've always been able to hit add media and highlight several sources and they would load for the project.  Now I'm lucky if one will load. I am adding video files to the project.  I press add media. I choose the files and folder option and then I see my videos listed.  I highlight one and the add media box showing the video loading appears.  At this point about 90 % of the time it seems to freeze and show no progress on getting the clip over.  I have walked away and given it over an hour and yet nothing loads.  I will then hit cancel.  At this time I get a message that it is not responding and the program crashes. So I begin again and try one video file at a time and it will work for a couple and then crash.  I'm caught in a perpetual cycle.  I'm not loading huge videos.  I have been adding two and three second clips.
    Thanks,TLB

  • WARNING: Premiere CS6 won't load past "Loading ExporterQuickTimeHost" after QT 7.7.3 update

Just what the subject line says, Premiere CS6 won't load up past the splash screen and "Loading ExporterQuickTimeHost" after I updated to QT 7.7.3 (Win7).  No other updates done, my CS6 is up to date.  I reverted back to 7.6 and problem went away.  Just an little word of warning to those who see the update pop up.
If you run into the problem, here's the link to download 7.6.  You will have to uninstall 7.7.3 then instal 7.6.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime

I ran into a similar issue on Premiere Elements 11:  On program launch, the system hung on "Quicktimehost.pm".  After some troubleshooting with no success, I:
    1) Uninstalled Quicktime version 7.7.5
    2) Installed Quickitme version 7.6
    3) rebooted my machine
    4) SUCCESS-> launched Premiere Elements 11 without issue
Hope this helps a few others!

  • Premiere CS4 will not load project

Hi! I've been looking around the forums for an answer to my problem, but so far I haven't found one. Here's my problem:
I've been working on a Premiere project for a couple weeks now, and I've constantly been having problems.  It crashes often, and sometimes does not respond. This I do not mind, I just save whenever I do something.
Yesterday night, I tried to open my project.  I opened it, and the little box popped up that said, "Load Project...".  The loading bar went all the way to the end and then froze. In the bottom left corner, it had said that all media was loaded. I pressed cancel and then Premiere froze.  I then exited Premeire and tried to reopen, but the same thing happened. I had read on one post to try to turning off your computer and then turning it back on. So, I went to bed.
Today, the project was working perfectly until now.  This time, the loading bar only loaded about 75%, even though at the bottom it said that all media was loaded.  I re-started my computer, but it didn't help.  I pressed shift, but it didn't help.  And the last time an auto-save file was created was yesterday, and I have made a lot of progress since then.  Does anyone have a solution to this?
    Frozen!
I have 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP computer with and Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8400 2.66 GHz.  The RAM is 6 GB. I don't know if this information will help you, but just in case.

I spent the day researching why my PrPro CS4 project hangs at about 80% loaded all of a sudden.  Bill was right on in his suggestion to search for a corrupt or bad asset.  His technique to solve the problem did not work at all though. Going back to a perviously auto-saved version of the project does not help much unless the project file itself is the bad asset. The project once saved under a new name still won't load in my experience. Also, if you try to export some part of the assets within the project, Adobe Media Encoder CS4 will fail to encode as well (another symptom of the bad asset hiding in your project workplace and sequence time-lines.
In my case, it turned out to be an avi movie asset that I changed from "avi movie with audio" to "avi movie without audio" outside of adobe premiere (using after effects cs4 in my case).  So now the project thought there should be audio, but the audio was now removed.
To find the bad asset was pretty easy: First go back to a project version that you can load, then click on each asset in the project workspace area and try to copy the asset using the menu: edit -> copy.
If the asset is bad, a goofy error message will pop up including a source code file name [this has to be yet another bug in premiere to crash like this].
If the asset is good, the copy will report no error, so move on to the next asset, repeat until you find one or all bad assets.
To solve the bad asset load problem,re-import the asset under a new name. Go to your sequence, right mouse click on the asset in the time line, use the "replace with clip -> bin" command. Last step, select the new replacement asset from your bin.

  • Premiere cs6 won't load cs5 file

This project contained a sequence that could not be opened.  No sequence preview presetfile or codec could be associated with this sequence type.
The project was created in CS5.  I get this messge again, again, and again, even after CS6 DID work once.  CS6 is supposed to load CS5-created premiere project and  sometimes converts it, etc.  Then won't load the converted project!!!!!
    I am using creative cloud.
    What is going on?

Jim, Thanks for the quick reply.  The problem is indeed a missing codec, viz. intra100.  There is a related problem that Adobe apparently has not solved: A/c to a technician.    CS5 overwrites CS6 files and vice-versa (in creative cloud anyway).  So,  I am constantly having to re-activate CS6  because of using CS5 for things like markers.
The tech said they would be working on it (two or three months ago).  Have you heard anything on this issue?
I am wondering if there is any simple way just to copy this particular coded for the moment.
    Thanks again.

  • PREMIERE CS4 won't open my recent projetcts!!  3rd time ...

It's the third time now that I cannot open a saved file... I save incremently the different versions of our 26 minutes animated project.
I have no idea when/why it started - around once a month (the past 3 months) I open PREMIERE, open my latest file, and the progress bar hangs ...
I click cancel - ... then need to force quit PREMIERE... each time if I try to open an auto saved version with the same name I get the same result... lets's say I want to open #78 ... and it won't open ... then I try with #78-1, -2, -3 , -4 and -5 .. same thing ...
I try version #77 ... and the saved versions .. same problem ... version 76 opened...
    I lost 2 days ...
last time Iost 2 days of work and tried 1 day to understand what happened ... used XML wrench ... did everything that is possible to try and make sense ... but here I am ... with a project that has 1600 to 1700 medias...
I regret I did not listen to people who proposed their FCP  station ...
... we started the production  3 years ago (animation is a long process)  with CS3 and it seemed to work well...
last year we upraded to CS4 .. and here I am really frustrated - I am even ready to pay to go back to CS3... or pay even more to go to FCP...
    .. it is possible that something I did made this happen ... I work on 2 different setups: one is XP32 pro - 3.5 g ram - on a XW 8400 dual XEON 3ghz, the other setup is a DELL workstation - 8 g ram - same dual cpu 3ghz (5160) - and XP64.
WE use AE, PSD and PREMIERE. everything works fine ( never managed to have the open GL quadro 3500 cards work properly in AEthou on both machines) but PREMIERE... I am tired and feel tarpped as I will need to keep using premiere knowing that I may lose  some more days of work...
    sigh ...

    Hi Dennis,
    Throw
away your preference files - user folder/my documents/Adobe/Premiere
Pro/  Take the 4.0 folder and drag it to your desktop.  Or just throw
it away.  When PRemiere Pro launches again, it will create a new one.
Just tried it ... same behaviour ... progress bar stalls .. .
yeasterday evening I installed the PPro trial on my macbook - under OSX ... and the progress bar goes a bit further ... for a moment I believed I recovered my file.. but now - still waited for over one hour, as the machine was not frozen ... but nothing more happened and I needed to force quit the app...
I saw something about big projects - the biggest thing I can recommend (STRONGLY!)
is to have a 64bit OS and lots of memory.  This has made a big
difference for many customers.  64-bit goodness is the future and CS4
makes use of greater memory addressing to allow it to see more than 4GB
of memory on a 64bit Os.
Yes ... this is my only real hope ... Both the computer I work on are now 64 bits/8 gig of ram  - one is W7 (was xp64 before) , the other is XP64 (was xppro 32)
... it is possible that the 32 bit machine is (was) the culprit...
... and maybe the anounced 4.2 PPro upgrade may resolve whatever problem I have ...?
I'll try to read more later and get back with any other suggestions.
Thanks a lot ! any help is gtreatly apreciated !
    regards !

  • Premiere CS4 doesn't load

    Windows XP SP3.
I had to reinstall premiere and now it doesn't load.
I reinstalled it because I restored my system to a point which made it have few bugs.
Now, when I just click the exe file - I get the window of license agreement, I click accept and after that nothing loads. Not even a background process.
So, I uninstalled premiere again (and uninstalled everything it offered me to uninstall (left after effects installed)) and then reinstall -
The first try failed with a message that few components weren't completely installed. It asked me to try again and the next time was successfull.
But as I said, even after a successful installation, premiere doesn't work.
    Help?
    Thanks

When you did the Uninstall, did you run the Adobe Cleaner Tool, before you Installed CS4?
    Creative Suite Cleaner Tool: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
I would Uninstall, then run the Cleaner Tool a few times, rebooting between each run, and then Install CS4.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere CS4 won't play any video - Overlay?

Hi, since installing Prem CS4 on Windows 7 when I try to play video through premiere the audio is fine but the video won't stays at a frozen frame. If I scroll the timeline the video moves through but doesn't play at all in the preview bin or in the main source window. All clips play in media player perfect and before with XP. It feels like an graphics overlay sort of problem, I have a Nvidia quadro FX 500 witht the latest drivers upgraded by Windows 7 but don't see any overlay settings in or out of premiere. Any suggestions?
    thanks guys

    Magic Hat,
Glad that you got it sorted. I've found that sometimes just asking a question immediately leads me to the answer - even before a response. I saw this all of the time in civil engineering. Just walking into another office to ask the question, often lit the lightbulb.
Good luck, and unfortunately, you can't award yourself "points" for the correct answer.

Is this a "used to work" or a "never worked" situation?
If used to work, what has changed?
    2 things to try
1 - Right click the program icon and select WinXP compatibility from the pop up option window
    2 - Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395

  • Premiere CS4 will not load timelines

I have been working on a project will several sequences.  Today when I load project to contine
working on them, the timeline will not load.  I can view the sequence in the Program Monitor,
but when I double click it does not open the timeline at the bottom of the screen.  It does nothing!  HELP!!!

I can view the sequence in the Program Monitor,
If you can view the sequence in the program monitor you probably have the timeline working but cant see it.  have you changed your view settings where the timeline might be hidden from you ?  Maybe try using "editing" view or "reset" your view to the default ?
maybe post a screenshot of what you are seeing when you open cs4...

  • Entire Creative Suite won't launch:  Bridge CS4 won't load

    Dear Readers:
I posted this in Bridge forum because it seems to be the key behind Adobe CS4 applications being unable to launch in my Windows XP Pro SP2.  When I restart the computer and the Bridge Icon appears in the startup taskbar on the lower right corner of the desktop, that means that Bridge started up and my CS4 applications will launch without a hitch.  But sometimes, maybe half the time, when I start Windows from a cold or warm boot the Bridge icon does not appear and this means that none of my CS4 graphics applications will launch.  I think there might be an issue with some other graphics apps too like Corel applications.
I tried calling customer support (tech support) but the call got dropped because no one answered the line.  What is wrong with my computer setup?  Is there something awry with the registry?  How do I ensure that Adobe Bridge CS4 and the other CS4 apps will ALWAYS launch?
    Sincerely,
    markerline

From my own experience, and that of others posting in this forum, I recommend avoiding any automatic loading of Bridge, either with system start or with the loading of any suite application.
The idea of starting Bridge with the system is supposed to speed up the opening of Bridge but it also uses resources and may slow other things down. Also it actually prevents Bridge from opening properly sometimes.
Similar reasons apply for not having Bridge start automatically with each application. It is not a pre-requisite for starting the application and can be opened with a mouse click when required.
If your individual applications do not start from their short cut icons, try the .exe file and if that works, remake the icon. If they don't start from the .exe file there is some deeper problem within your installation.

  • Flash CS4 won't load properly

    Hi
    Weirdest thing is happening now.
I boot up Flash CS4 and all I see in the upper left corner are the three dots for Apple's Snow Leopard interface.
Flash was working fine yesterday, then last evening, all I got were the three dots.
The menus are there. They open,  but they are acting flakey.
I can open up a file, but none of the palettes or interface show up. The stage is located under Apple's menu bar at the 0,0 location of the monitor and unmovable.
I deleted the preference files from my user library and also a file called "Flash 10 mru".
    That didn't do a thing.
The only change I made yesterday was an upgrade Adobe supplied for Premiere.
I also upgraded to Snow Leopard over the old Leopard, rather than a clean install.
But Flash was working fine on it for a month before yesterday's three dots attack.
    Flash CS3 works fine.
Flash CS4 works fine on my laptop with Snow Leopard.
This morning, I uninstalled the old and reinstalled a new copy. Really at a loss as to what to do.
I was thinking of doing a clean install of Snow Leopard on a new hd and starting over. Before I do all that, I was hoping there was an easier fix.
Please help and thanks in advance.

I know this is almost 2 years old, but since there is no response at all I'm going to dig this thread up rather than create a new one for an identical problem. I'm having this exact issue right now, except I'm just running Leopard, not Snow Leopard. Sometime last week Flash CS4 froze up on me and I had to force quit. Ever since then, when I boot up Flash, I just get the three circles in the top left corner and nothing else. If I try to open a file, it will open, but it shows only part of the stage and nothing else. If I try to change the workspace view, the stage completely disappears, and that's as far as I can get.
I've already uninstalled the entire creative suite, used the CS5 clean up tool, and reinstalled, and am still having the same problem. Any ideas? Pretty desperate here, as my homework relies on a working version of Flash.

  • Premiere CS4 won't start "unexpectedly quit"

All I get is a message about the app unexpectedly quit?
    Was working fine till today?
Only thing that changed is I downloaded and installed all the Adobe updates the other day.
    What do I do?
Are there preferences to trash like with Photoshop?
Do I have to re-install Premiere or all of CS4???
    Thanks.

Wonder if it was fonts. I removed about 10 recent fonts I installed and now Premiere seems to start. Can anyone verify this might be the cause? Is Premiere touchy on fonts?
The only thing that led me to that is the first time I restarted I had some error on the screen about "Font Table" or something not being able to terminate.

  • Message - Can't open a Scratch File & Photoshop CS4 Won't load

I just installed Photoshop CS4, both the 32 and 64 bit versions (part of the "Master Collection"). After opening the programs I changed the scratch disk location to two separate drives other than where Photoshop resides, where it had placed said file as a default. Now neither Photoshop versions will open.
    I get the following message:
"Could not open a scratch file because the scratch file is locked..."
Just one problem, there is no scratch file visible on either of the two drives...
My operating system is Vista Ultimate on a 64 bit Quad CPU machine with 8Gb of ram, two Raptor HDs, four 750Gb HDs configured into one RAID 5 drive and Nvida GEForce 8800GTS graphics card.
Has anyone here experienced a similar problem???
    Cheers,
    Michael

Had the same problem, and called Adobbe tech support, who solved the problem <g>.  In Computer find the disk you want to use as a scratch disk, select, right click, and choose properties.  Go to the Security tab and highlight Users (your name) and look at the Permissions.  To use as a scratch disk, Full control needs to be checked (Allowed).  If it's not, edit the Permissions for Users, and check Full Control.  Apply and OK. Setting that disk as a scratch disk should now work fine.

  • My Dreamweaver CS4 won't load - error code 148:3

Any idea how to fix?   Just started.  Never had a problem with it before.

The only solution so far that really works is as per this document:
    <http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-licensing-stopped-windows.html>
It seems these old products had lots of these problems;  Perhaps activation technology was still in its infancy at that time.
