Premiere CS4 wont read .MOV files

Hi there,
Hoping someone could help me with this, Premiere doesn't seem to want to read the .Mov files I need to use in the project. Is there a way I can overcome this directly?
If not, does someone have a converter they could recommend, preferably free, that I could use. I tried FXBear which converted the files but at the expense of a serious degrading in quality.
Thanks,
Aaron

  • QTServer 32 problem: Premiere not reading .mov files QT

I am having the cursed fate of Premiere hanging up on Exporter QuickTime Host.prm issue.  I have tried a number of things, including permissions, firewall, etc.  I moved the QTServer32 file and sure enough, the problem with start up was eliminated, BUT of course, then it could not read the .mov files.  Either way, Premiere has stopped reading .mov files.  How do I fix this?

  • Photoshop CS4 stopped reading CR2 files.  Update failed.

My Photoshop CS4 quit reading CR2 files from my Canon EOS 5D Mark II.  Photoshop update with new raw version failed.  Please advise.
    And many thanks!

This screen shot shows the correct path to the appropriate folder in CS4 on the Mac, which is not called "ACR folder" (that must be a Windows thing).
The version of ACR in the image is older (5.2, obsolete by now), because it's a screen shot from many moons ago.
The important thing is to start the path in the ROOT LEVEL Library, not your username or home Library:

  • Upgrade Plug in for CS4 to read raw files

I have  PS4 and just bought a Canon 5d Mark III. PS now won't open my raw files. Can I get an upgrade plug in for CS4 to read these files? Thanks

First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in Photoshop CS4.  To do that look at these two pages.  You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
In your case, your 5D Mark III was first supported by Camera Raw version 6.7.  And we see that Camera Raw 6.7 was supported by Photoshop CS5, not Photoshop CS4 - so you cannot get direct raw support for your version of Photoshop.
However, you CAN download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your CR2 files) I recommend upgrading to Photoshop CS6 or newer.  Adobe made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.
Adobe has a nice "Photographer's Bundle" subscription offer going right now.

  • Premiere Pro CC Not Reading .mov Files from Screenium

    Hey
I have a screen capture tool called screenium for my mac. I use it to recorde gameplay and ever since I installed an SSD into my mac I have not been able to read these files .mov files, Premiere only sees the video as green, the audio is intact but the footage doesnt exist as far as premiere is concerned. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere but the problem still exists.
On a nother note that is worth mentioning, sometimes this program does not compress the files as it is suposed to and I end up with 40GB files on my SSD. When I had an HDD I was able to open the files in Premiere with no problem and export them as smaller files.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks

  • Flash cs4 not importing ".mov" files

    Hi guys.
I have just upgraded to Flash CS4
When I go to import a 2.6 GB .mov file to the stage I get the spinning beach ball of death for 5 minutes then a flash alert box saying that this file type is not supported. See screenshot attached.
    Can anyone help?

You may be able to create the FLV by using the Adobe Media Encoder directly, instead of through Flash. You might have to use a third party app, maybe the one that created the MOV in the first place. Sorenson Squeeze should be able to handle files of that size.

  • Can´t render/read mov. files

    Hello,
I just upgraded from cs4 to cs5 and I discovered that cs5 won´t let me render anything that has to do with the quicktime codec. I tried to render some h.265 mov files but seconds after I started the render I got a error message (error code: -1610153464), after that failed attemped to render a mov cs5 refuses to read any mov files in my project or and refused to import other mov files so that I had to restart the program. I get a message saying that the "MooV" file is probably damaged. I tried every mov. codec and a lot of mov. files I got, to exclude the chance that it has to do with one of my mov. files I used. CS4 has absolutely no problems reading the same files or rendering mov files. Rendering avis, tiff-sequences etc. in cs5 works fine.
I already tried to reinstall cs5, but still got the error message.

  • Iphoto wont play movie files and wont double click for zoom or edit

Hi i bought my first ever macbook a week ago, love everything on it,iphoto worked well but today i wanted to show someone a movie file on my camea which i have in my iphoto libray clicked on it and it usually opens, today nothing!!! this file has opened loads before because its a holiday movie, loads of people have seen it but now nothing.
Also my double click to zoom or edit preference seems to do nothing whichever box you check in preffence nothing happens.
Being new to mac i hope i can find some answers!!
    Chris

    Chris:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First Control+click on the movie's thumbnail and select Show File from the contextual menu. When you get to the original movie file double click on it to see if you can open it in Quicktime. If not then it's more a QT issue. If it opens OK in QT go to the next procedure.
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and try again. If iPhoto is still misbehaving log into another account and try the same operations in iPhoto there. If still not working you may have to reinstall iPhoto from the disk it came one. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. After you get iPhoto reinstalled run the latest update for it, 7.1.3 if needed.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Premiere CS5 not importing .mov files - codec missing or unavailable

    Hi,
I'm on a Windows 7 PC running Premiere Pro CS5. Have encountered a problem with .mov files that I haven't had before. I recently received three files from a shoot at a local tv station. They are .mov files and I believe they are in an XD CAM wrapper or format. I've gotten files from this station before and have imported them with no trouble (not sure if the earlier files were XD CAM, though). When I try to import, I get the error message: Codec missing or unavailable. Would using the Prism video convertor to convert to another format be the way to go? The file sizes range from 7.18 GB to 14.9 GB. Thanks in advance.

  • Photoshop Imageready cannot read .mov files

This is just one big pain. I got a new computer and had to reinstall everything, after doing so i decided to go make a vid sig,
However now my photoshop imageready does not read/recognise .mov files, i check for about four hours and have been unable to find my answer,
    Yes, i have quicktime (7.0 i think)
Yes, i have Divx (also 7 i think)
And as i cannot find a thread around here like this i thought i would post cause this is really ticking me off.
(oh yeah its photoshop 7.0, and i have never had this problem before)
Edit: Also the message that comes up is,
adobe imageready - could not complete this operation because this file is an unknown format

Did you apply the 7.01 updater to it?

  • Premiere CS4 is Creating Multiple files when rendering

We have used Adobe Premiere for just over seven years now with great success.  Five days per week we create videos with Adobe Premiere with three computers. We presently upgraded to the new CS4.  The computer that that program is installed on is used to edit 30 and sixty minute television shows.  The files start out as .AVI files then, when finished they are rendered and saved as MPG2 files.
We are currently experiencing a problem with this new program that we have not ever experienced in the past.  Description of problem:
We import a 30 or 60 minute .avi file into a project.  We then place it on the timeline.  On these timelines there are only the video layer and the audio layer, no more than that.  We then make the editing changes that are necessary.  We then go to export the file to the Adobe Encoder to be saved as a MPG2.  When we do this, while in the process of encoding the file, Premiere will create four (4) files when it was not told to do so.  When this happens of course with a 60 minute file, it can take a very long time to encode, (because it is creating multiple files).  We have needed to stop the process, and change the name.  This sometimes works, and sometimes it does not.
We are hoping that someone has come across this before and can help us.  I have looked at different sources to find the answer to this.  I called Adobe direct, and it was suggested that I try this forum.  Any help would this would be very appreciated.  Thank you.

OK.  These are all of the screen shots with the settings.  I hope that you can find something.
    Thank you

Hi, recently my laptop (windows Vista) received a virus, and when i got rid of it, adobe reader 9 will no longer read files. It wont run my McAfee unless i run it in administrator, and wont open any files. When i tried to download Adobe Reader 9 again, the immediate install doesnt work. when i click on the alternate link, and run the file, it says Adobe Reader cannot read the file because it is either not a supported file type, or is a damaged file. any help? I am getting very frustrated with this. Thanks!

do you think i could try it without downloading the microsoft program?
Maybe if you are familiar with the dangerous practice of editing registry files. With the intaller utility, you will be able to choose what to remove. It's not going to remove anything you don't want it to.
    Four_Nords wrote:
also, do i need Adobe Reader 9 to download files? because it keeps asking me to use Adobe Reader 9 every time i try to re download it,
To read PDF files, you'll need Adobe Reader (or a third party PDF reader) yes.
