Premiere CS5 + AVCHD = Yellow bar problem?

I just wanted to ask, if this is normal or what I'm doing wrong, because I never had this problem with CS4. After I recorded some footage with my Canon HFs100 (AVCHD 1920x1080, interpreted to 25p) and I tried to edit it on Premiere(sequence: AVCHD 1920x1080, 25fps) , I always get that yellow bar, which  indicates that there is a mismatch between footage properties  and sequence settings.
In Premiere Cs4, I always intepret the footage at fisrt, because the way HFS100 captures video and the it works just fine without yellow/red bar, but in CS5, I still get that yellow bar. Why?

My english sucks.
So does mine and all the more reason, when we are handicapped by not using our native tongue, to be as precise as possible. We are not alone here, there are people from all over the world for whom English is only a second or third language, so the better we express ourselves, the easier it is to get understood and get valuable feedback.
Look here: Adobe Forums: A glossary of video terms
This is not to sound arrogant, but to help you express yourself in this rather complicated language of video editing.

  • Waves plugins in Premiere CS5 (Mac) not loading.

I have the Waves "Masters" plugins and would like to use them in Premiere CS5 for Mac. Problem is that they do not load.
Here's what the "Plugin Loading.log" file says about it:
    Scanning /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST and sub-directories
    Loading /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/WaveShell-VST 8.0.vst
The registry tells us to cache so the plugin will be loaded from the cache.
The plugin is marked as Ignore, so it will not be loaded.
    What does this means?

I don't know anything about Waves "Masters" plugins,
but if they're not 64bit versions they won't work.

  • Does Adobe Premiere CS5 for Mac support .m2ts (AVCHD) video?

I am trying to import video files encoded into the .m2ts (AVCHD) format into Adobe Premiere CS5 on my Mac.  Does the Mac version of Premiere CS5 support .m2ts (AVCHD) video formats?  I am currently testing this with the trial before I get this new version for the Mac.  Could using trial be the problem that even CS5 Premiere doesn't open it on my Mac?  Do I need the full version?  Thanks.

The trial does not support AVCHD for either platform.
Now, the full-paid version has no limitation, AND Adobe offers a 30-day, money-back guarantee, so if you do not like it, you can return it for a full refund, within 30 days.
    Good luck,

  • Problems with After Effects video in Premiere CS5

I've run into an interesting problem using sequences in Premiere Pro CS5 that I create in After Effects CS5. Here's the skinny: I created a sequence in AE, 1440x1080. I exported the composition as a movie (avi). I then imported it into my 1440x1080 Premiere project. It looked great when playing it in the preview monitor. But - when I place the video clip on the timeline, I first get a green bar and then a red bar - even when the clip is the only video on the timeline. And sometimes the red bar even extends to a clip that's adjacent to the AE clip. When I render the effects in the sequence, the red bar problem goes away - BUT the quality of the AE clip is compromised. The image gets noticeably noisy and degraded. Does anyone have insights as to why this is happening? Am I exporting the AE sequence incorrectly? Many thanks.

    Jim,
I was able to import an AE comp into Premiere using your suggestion below. After I rendered it in Premiere, it played fine. Thanks.

  • Problems updating projects to new versions of Premiere (CS5 to CC and CC to CC 2014) Memory consumption during re-index and Offline MPEG Clips in CC 2014

I have 24GB of RAM in my 64 bit Windows 7 system running on RAID 5 with an i7 CPU.
A while ago I updated from Premiere CS5 to CC and then from Premiere CC to CC 2014. I updated all my then current projects to the new version as well.
Most of the projects contained 1080i 25fps (1080x1440 anamorphic) MPEG clips originally imported (captured from HDV tape) from a Sony HDV camera using Premiere CS5 or CC.
    Memory consumption during re-indexing.
When updating projects I experienced frequent crashes going from CS5 to CC and later going from CC to CC 2014. Updating projects caused all clips in the project to be re-indexed. The crashes were due to the re-indexing process causing excessive RAM consumption and I had to re-open each project several times before the re-index would eventually complete successfully. This is despite using the setting to limit the RAM consumed by Premiere to much less than the 24GB RAM in my system.
I checked that clips played; there were no errors generated; no clips showed as Offline.
Some Clips now Offline:Importer  CC 2014
Now, after some months editing one project I found some of the MPEG clips have been flagged as "Offline: Importer" and will not relink. The error reported is "An error occurred decompressing video or audio".
The same clips play perfectly well in, for example, Windows Media Player.
I still have the earlier Premiere CC and the project file and the clips that CC 2014 importer rejects are still OK in the Premiere CC version of the project.
It seems that the importer in CC 2014 has a bug that causes it to reject MPEG clips with which earlier versions of Premiere had no problem.
It's not the sort of problem expected with a premium product.
After this experience, I will not be updating premiere mid-project ever again.
How can I get these clips into CC 2014? I can't go back to the version of the project in Premiere CC without losing hours of work/edits in Premiere CC 2014.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

To answer my own question: I could find no answer to this myself and, with there being no replies in this forum, I have resorted to re-capturing the affected HDV tapes from scratch.
Luckily, I still had my HDV camera and the source tapes and had not already used any of the clips that became Offline in Premiere Pro CC 2014.
It seems clear that the MPEG importer in Premiere Pro CC 2014 rejects clips that Premiere Pro CC once accepted. It's a pretty horrible bug that ought to be fixed. Whether Adobe have a workaround or at least know about this issue and are working on it is unknown.
It also seems clear that the clip re-indexing process that occurs when upgrading a project (from CS5 to CC and also from CC to CC 2014) has a bug which causes memory consumption to grow continuously while it runs. I have 24GB RAM in my system and regardless of the amount RAM I allocated to Premiere Pro, it would eventually crash. Fortunately on restarting Premiere Pro and re-loading the project, re-indexing would resume where it left off, and, depending on the size of the project (number of clips to be indexed), after many repeated crashes and restarts re-indexing would eventually complete and the project would be OK after that.
It also seems clear that Adobe support isn't the greatest at recognising and responding when there are technical issues, publishing "known issues" (I could find no Adobe reference to either of these issues) or publishing workarounds. I logged the re-index issue as a bug and had zero response. Surely I am not the only one who has experienced these particular issues?
This is very poor support for what is supposed to be a premium product.
Lesson learned: I won't be upgrading Premiere again mid project after these experiences.

  • Editing AVCHD files in Premiere CS5 – juddery movement

    Hi all,
Just got a Panasonic HDC-TM900 camcorder – it shoots 1080p @ 50fps (PAL). The format is “.mts”, with AVCHD compression.
Anyway, the issue I have is that when I import the files into Premiere CS5 to edit (Premiere says it supports the native files) – whenever the camera moving, the movement is very jerky, and also blurry during a pan. But when I play back the clip on the camcorder itself, or directly out of it via HDMI, it’s crystal clear with perfect movement.
Firstly – I am making a composition that matches the clip settings.
Secondly - my machine is very fast & can handle the files, so it’s not a processing issue.
And thirdly, they still judder when rendered (as H.264) – so it’s not just an “un-rendered media” issue.
Any Googling I’ve done seems to bring up similar issues with editing AVCHD files, but no solid solution yet. People are saying that I should transcode the files before importing into CS5 (but with no consensus on the format or software to use), and there is also a general consensus that AVCHD is a great playback format, but not the best for editing.
And what’s also odd is that the Panasonic website seems to offer the EXACT software that would seem to fix my issue, but when I click the link it’s not there!
    See here: http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/avchd-home.asp
Scroll down to “Software” and it says “AVCHD to P2 DVCPRO HD Transcoder” – editing P2 files would be ideal, as I’ve done this before off a P2 camera - but when I click the link, it brings me to a page with all sorts of software & utilities, but I can’t even find the words “AVCHD” or “DVCPRO” it mentioned on that download page!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    KP.

    Hi John - it doesn't have a 1080i setting.
Here is a link to a file I shot on this camera - I imported it into CS5, made a new sequence to match eth footage (i.e. dragged it onto the "New Item" icon) and re-encoded the AVCHD file to a H.264 "Vimeo HD" preset in CS5.
It's blurry, juddery, horrible footage during any sort of movement!
    http://www.maxtronmedia.com/grove/panasonic.mp4
Yet, on the camera's own LCD (and on a TV through the camera's HDMI output), this footage looks immaculate. And yes, I tried capturing footage through the HDMI cable into my Matrox Mini and it's interlaced all over the place & pretty-much un-usable.
    Suggestions?
I just printed an Amazon returns label, so I'm probably going to send the camera back... now I just need to hope the box is still in my green bin! :/

  • Yellow Bar at top of track, and problems...

I am trying to edit a file in garage band. I clicked on an icon, a circle with an arrow in it, and now there are two problems I have not been able to figure out:
-the track only plays a section with a yellow bar above it, in a loop.
-the track no longer displays the white arrow at the top with the vertical line, within the window it is playing in. It disappears and I have no way to know where on the track it is.
-the track display above and the editing display below, are no longer synchronized. The red vertical line disappears and the bottom editing display just sits there. Now I have no way to edit the track, to know where the red line is and find the sections I want to edit.
    Any advice?

  • Premiere CS5 Video playback problems

    Dear All,
I hope someone can help me out!
I have finally managed to get the 64-bit upgrade sorted out. However, most of the time I try to start my trial version of Premiere, I get an error message saying "CS5 has stopped working". No explanation. Nothing. It just doesn't open.
However, if I persevere long enough, after four or five attempts to start the program, it will inexplicably do so. My problem THEN is that a project I saved in CS4 seems to load OK but then I cannot get the video footage (unrendered) to appear in the preview window. Which makes the whole thing useless really.
If I then click in the preview window, the footage WILL appear but only as a still on whatever frame it happened to be on. Again, making the entire shebang useless.
So, if anyone has any brilliant tips on why these things are happening, do let me know. I feel like shooting someone! LOL
I am quite happy to buy a copy of this thing IF I can be sure it will work. But I fail to see why Adobe are pretending these problems don't exist. No help from the support team via phone at all.
    Thanks
    Mark Birkett

    Bill
Thanks for the welcome. I'm no expert on this subject so I'm not even sure I would know where to check the video-card driver. LOL.
All I can say is that the trial version of Premiere CS4 had no such problems on this laptop. I'm now using Windows Vista, Home Premium, 64 bit. The CS4 trial ran fine on Windows Vista 32-bit (as it was before I upgraded) so I'm unsure why Adobe would have moved the goalposts in that regard?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Premiere CS5.5 y CS4 andan lento Problem: ¿Hardware o Software?

    Buenas, como estan?
Mi problema es el siguiente, tengo la siguiente PC:
    AMD Athlon X3
    ATI RADEON HD 5770
    4 Giga RAM
    Mother GIGABYTE 870A
    Disco 1 TB partido
    SO Windows 7 64 Bits

    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html

  • Audition problems with Premiere CS5

Has anyone had problems with Audition 5.5 not functioning with Premiere CS5. I have both programs (but not a part of the Suite). So, Audition CS5 is installed and so is Premiere CS5. After separating a sound channel, I want to pick the Edit with Audition from the drop down but the Edit with Audition is muted; interesting however is the Edit with Soundbooth is highlighted and it works. But I would like to work with Audition instead. Anyone have those sorts of problems?

This built-in functionality works only with Premiere CS5.5, I believe.  There may be some registry hacks or something to make it work a little with Premiere CS5.0, but I have a feeling the only way to successfully fly stuff back and forth as intended is to get the upgrade.
Now, if that's actually what you have, and this is happening, then that's a different problem altogether.

  • Some problems to import AFX CS6 file into PREMIERE CS5

Hi and thank you for your help
My problem after an update from AFX CS5 to AFX CS6:
I work with Premiere CS5. I arranged some clips X, Y, and Z. Now I would like to transform clip Y into an AFX compositon. I have PREMIERE CS5, AFX CS5 and AFX CS6. If I click "transform into AFX composition" AFX CS6 will open. Now I could do my work in AFX CS6 but when I'm finished and go back to PREMIERE. PREMIERE CS5 wont work with this new AFX CS6 file. It appears an empty dialog box with COMPOSITION but there is no COMPOSITION I can select.
    My question:
I work with PREMIERE CS5 how can I change the AFX version from CS6 back to CS5 ?
    Thank you very much folks!!

Just to clarify... you are asking how to change the dynamic link out of Premiere so it opens AFX CS5 instead of AFX CS6, correct?
Sorry to say I do not have an answer to that. But if you are working with just one clip ("Y" in your example) then you could begin a new AFX CS5 project (through the normal AFX open process), import that one clip, do your thing, save it, and then import the AFX CS5 project into Premiere CS5. Not as elegant as what you hoped for, so hopefully someone can answer your original question.

  • Premiere CS5 doesn't import AVCHD audio

Sorry out there, but I do need some help!
Premiere CS5 wont import the audio of AVCHD clips (1920x1080 50i) shot with a Panasonic AG-HMC151E.
Is it possible I miss an AC3 codec? Thanx

If the AC3 is fully Dolby-compliant, the full-paid version of PrPro will have not issue with it. I would assume that your camera WILL produce fully Dolby-compliant AC3's.
One of the issues with some AVCHD cameras is that they allow the user to record as DD 5.1 SS (6-channel), and PrPro will Import those into a 5.1 Audio Track. The rub comes with the Export from PrPro. It requires the Minnetonka Audio SurCode DD 5.1 SS encoder plug-in (costs extra), to Export as DD 5.1 SS, but PrPro will do a mix-down to 2-channel just fine.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - if one DOES go for the SurCode plug-in, be sure to buy it from within PrPro, as they will get an Adobe discount below the price from the Minnetonka Audio site. It's only about US$50, but that counts.

  • Problems using 1080/50p video files in Premiere CS5 to Encore onto Blu-ray

Firstly apologies if this has been covered, I've searched various forums but not found anything on 1080/50p.
I have a Panasonic HDC-TM700 video camera which I only had for a week or so before I went on a weeks holiday in Egypt, so I thought I'd record my memories in the superb 1080/50p mode.
Upon returning I am now editing my work in Premiere CS5, the resulting video is very jerky (it plays back OK on the camera), rendering a sample in Encore I discover Blu-ray doesn't support 1080/50p so I tried the HDTV 1080i 25 setting, on the resulting Blu-ray the panning scenes are not smooth viewing and the video is still rather jerky.
Should I have recorded the footage in 1080 interlaced instead?
Does anybody know if I can salvage my memories?
    Hoping you can help
    Regards
    Kevin

I have the same camera, only it's NTSC so 1080p60. What I do for now, until there is wider acceptance for this format, is that I export to 720p60. I know I may sound like a party pooper but I prefer progressive before interlaced...  I am sure there will be support for 1080p50 or 1080p60 in the near future, so your memories will not be lost!
Some Bluray players do support 1080p60/50, but not from a disc but an SD card instead. If that's an option for you, go with that!
Here's the player I use which plays back 1080p60 beautifully from SD, I'm sure there is an equivalent player for PAL:
