  • InDesign CS5 freezes when exporting file as PDF

InDesign CS5 (7.0.4) run on iMac (OS 10.7.5).
I find that when exporting a document as PDF InDesign suddenly and randomly freezes at some point during the export process.
The only option is to force quit InDesign.
On relaunch InDesign has forgotten all the presets I had saved (eg Document Preset, Preflight Profile).
This happens fairly frequently but I cannot find a pattern to it or an obvious cause.
Thanks in advance or any help anyone can offer!!

  • Premiere CS5 Crashes when exporting

Yeah, sounds familiar.  I hate to add yet another discussion on this, but I have a specific question. . .   s
I have an Intel i7 965 with 6G of Ram; lots of disk space and running Win 7 64 Bit.
I have been running the CS4 version of Premiere Pro for sometime, and just downloaded, installed CS5.  This new project is the first one, and was built new, not 'converted' from a previous version.
The sequence (there's only one) has a number of clips in video track 1 and about 10 titles in video track 2. The entire length of the sequence is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
When I export to an AVI file, it begins to 'render' but crashes at about 74 percent completion.  That is about 56 minutes into the sequence.  I assumed I would find the offending title or effect (there are not many effects in use) at that point in time, but, of course, at that point, it is about 7 minutes into a clip that is about 25 minutes long.  Nothing else is at that point.  Just the video clip.
So, I removed the video clip and it exported just fine.
So, I created a new project and imported the offending video file -  which, btw, is the same as the others, an MPG file.   It gets to about 8 percent complete and crashes.   No titles, no effects, just add the asset and export.  Crash.  I shortened the clip until it finally rendered - about 6 minutes long.
    Any ideas?
The original project - with the offending clip - rendered once.  I don't recall what settings I had, but it did make it through the entire sequence.  I've not been able to do it again.

The source file was created by playing a (VHS) tape player into a Hauppauger video interface and Beyond TV software.  I simply recorded the tape (which I can do again if I have to), and Beyond TV was configured to create a MPEG2 files.
So, once created, I import the file into PP.  The 'dimensions' of the MPEG file is 720x480 and 29 fps.  Same as the sequence I loaded the clip into.
I can only assume there is something wrong with that one place in the clip.  The actual clip is about an hour and a half long -  I was only using the first 20+ minutes.  I have rendered the rest of the clip (that AFTER the problem area) with no issue.
I can do back and re-record that part of the VHS tape where the problem is, and maybe that MPEG file will be OK. . .
It's taken all day, but what seemed to be a Premiere Pro issue (it just happen to be the FIRST project I created with the new CS5 version), now seems to be data.

  • Premiere pro freezes when exporting a project that has AE compositions in it?

PC - 970 nvidia, i7 4790k, premiere will export when the After effects clips are removed, but freezes at different stages of completion when the are left in.

FAQ: What information should I provide?
When you say it "freezes", how long is it frozen for?
What is in these compositions you've linked to?
What version of AE (down to the last decimal)? Same question for Premiere.
What are your entire system specs? RAM, OS version, etc.

I am currently trying to figure out why my video exporting fails to begin. I am using windows 8.1 64 bit and trying to export out a .mov file. Whenever I go to export, the export fails to start and just sits at 0% the entire time, even went out for 3-4 hours and let it just sit there incase it was just taking a while and nothing. Can anyone help?

  • FCP Freezes When Exporting to Flash Video (FLV)

Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 freezes when exporting to Flash Video (FLV). The resulting FLV file contains only a few seconds of the exported video. A 2009 Apple Support notice offers this re. FCP 6 and CS3 Flash Video Encoder...
    ===
Final Cut Pro: May quit unexpectedly when exporting to Flash
    Last Modified: February 13, 2009
    Article: TS2593
    Symptoms
Final Cut Pro may quit unexpectedly when you export using QuickTime Conversion if you choose Flash Video (FLV) from the Format menu.
    Products Affected
Final Cut Pro 6.x, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Flash Video Encoder
    Resolution
This can happen if you use the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Flash Video Encoder and Final Cut Pro together. This issue does not occur with the Flash Video Encoder in Adobe Creative Suite 4. To work around the issue:
Choose File > Export > QuickTime Movie.
Be sure to enable Make Movie Self-Contained.
Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player.
Export the movie to Flash from QuickTime Player.
    ===
I just installed CS5, so I would think I shouldn't be bothered with an older, problematic Flash Video Encoder. I don't think I should have to convert an MOV file to an FLV file using QuickTime Reader or anything else. Why doesn't it export correctly out of FCPro 7.0.2?

    oh well.

  • Premiere hangs randomly when loading media from Canon 5D Mark III

Premiere 5.5.0 hangs when loading media. When I drag like 20 files from explorer to Premiere, it loads some files, but at a random point it stops loading and freezes. I loaded every file manually by using ctrl-I within Premiere and saving regularly. After loading a random number of files (anywhere between 1 and 7) it freezes. I managed to get all the files into the project. Now when I try to open the project, it freezes randomly while loading the media. I copied the project and when I open the new one, it opens normal and asks where the media is. When I locate it... same problem, anywhere during loading it might freeze. When I cancel it, I can manually link every media file back, with the random risk of freezing.
I reinstalled Quicktime without any improvement.
    I reinstalled Premiere without improvement.
In old projects sometimes random media-files are not linked. Sometimes I can link them succefully. Sometimes it freezes when I try to link them.
As far as I can tell this only happens to .mov files and not other types of media-files.
Sometimes when I have been working on a project succesfully, Premiere still freezes when I close it.
    UPDATE
I found out that this only concerned movies from my Canon 5d Mark III. I searched if other people had the same problem and found this thread: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/923736
The solution is to rename the extensions from .mov into .mpg.
    This solves the issue...

    danielschweinert wrote:
Does somebody else has this problem?
Yup: I heard about it just today, in fact.  An FCP user was trying to get Cinema Tools to conform 24fps footage from a Mk II and Mk III to 25.  No problems with the Mk II footage, but no luck with the Mk III footage.
Now, it could be just coincidence.  But if you don't believe in coincidence, you might think that there's something screwy with Canon's new codecs for the Mk III.  "Screwy" is a highly technical term, by the way.

  • Using Premiere Pro CS3 When exporting as flash file poor picture quality

I'm using Premiere Pro CS3. I shoot green screen in HDV and work in 1440 x 1080. I have been capturing files in Premiere and sending them to Serious Magic Ulta 2. I use this program for keying and adding virtual backgrounds. I save these files as avi. with a resolution of 1440 X 1080. I then bring them back into Premiere Pro for final edit. When I export these video's encoded as mpeg2 theyplay very clear. I am now trying to export as flv. with alpha channel background and the resolution is poor. I working on the transparent background with walk on spokespersons that overlay the HTML page. When In try to play them on my computer the adobe media player is what comes up. I have downloaded flash player but it doesn't select it to play the video. I'm running windows Vista Business platform. What am I doing wrong.

    Thanks for the reply.
The capture and editing have already been done in 1440 X 1080. Should I use this resolution rather than trying to bump it up to 1920 X 1080.
    Thanks

Computer playback generally prefers square pixels.  Make sure to set your output resolution to 1920 x 1080 using a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 1.0 or Square.
    See if that helps.

  • Bridge CS5 freezes when using 'reveal in explorer'

Bridge CS5 freezes when you select a file and try to "reveal in explorer". The command does work, it does reveal the file in explorer but then the bridge window turns white and freezes. It usually doesn't happen in the first time you click 'reveal in explorer', but if you do it enough (3x or more) bridge will freeze eventually.
I'm going back to Bridge CS4.
*I'm using Bridge CS5 on windows 7 Professional 64 bit

This sounds like a memory thing.  Check the spare space on the HD (it should never be more than 75% full), defrag the harddrive,  clean out your trash bin, check to see if you paging file is installed, and your RAM is working properly.

Do you have any capture cards in the computer? For example, Blackmagic, Aja, Matrox, CineForm, etc.
If so, it's software might be causing the problem. Go to "Programs And Features" in the Vista Control Panel to remove the software for the capture card. Restart the computer and then try again.
Did you install any plug-ins for Premiere?
If so, remove them and see if the problem goes away.
Also, where are you saving your projects? Try saving one to your Desktop and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, then it could be a problem with your save location.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 crashing when exporting (only certain file types)

    Hi
I have found that when I try and export media in Premiere Pro CS5, it often crashes during the export. It says
It's only certain file types. For instance, Vimeo HD seems okay but Vimeo SD always crashes mid-export. MPEG is okay too, but MPEG2-DVD always crashes.
Sometimes it says this: "Error Compiling Movie - Unknown Error" but doesn't throw me out of Premiere altogether.
Other times it crashes altogether and Windows gives me this error message: "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 258.96 stopped responding and has successfully recovered". Premiere Pro then stops responding so I have to re-open it and start exporting again.
I have checked there are no gaps in my timeline and I have rendered the whole work area. Besides, I doubt it's anything that I'm doing wrong with the project itself because it's exporting fine in some formats.
I am also experiencing random crashes when editing too. Not that often, but occasionally it throws me out - and twice it has made the whole screen go crazy, with weird dotting across the screen (it's scary, it looks like the monitor itself has broken!).
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Nick
PS I have a pretty decent new PC - Dell Studio XPS, 8GB, 2x1TB drives, etc. Premiere itself is working great, except for these crashes.

Some drivers do not work well in some systems... so go to nVidia and try a different (usually newer) driver for your card
These notes are for Encore, but they MAY also work in Premiere

  • Freezes when exporting .mov files in CS4 / Adobe Media Encoder

For the past 7 hours now I have been trying every internet remedy for the following problem, and was wondering if any of you nice people could help:
I just came back from a ski trip, and wanted to make an edit featuring my fiends. I recorded large parts of the trip on my new iPhone, both in 720p 120fps (120.15fps, h.264 1280*720) and the normal 1080p 30fps. iPhone files are in the .mov format. I also recorded some parts on a GoPro hero hd2 camera at both 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. GoPro files are in the MP4 format, and i've never had a probvlem with them.
Now all imports fine into premiere pro, and although I had a few problems with freezing while editing initially, this was quickly solved by terminating all unused (non-adobe) processes in task manager.
So I spent a good 4 hours making a 2.5 minute edit of our day, and wanted to export it.
So I selected the sequence, and went file>export>media, selected all of the preferences i wanted for exporting, and sent it to the Adobe media encoder.
The media encoder loads the files for a few seconds, and then starts the encoding process. And promptly freezes. It freezes at around 10-20 seconds (depending on export preferences) after starting to encode, and never restarts. i can then pause the encode, but cancelling it crashes adobe media encoder and subsequently also crashes Premiere Pro.
I may be mistaken here, but I have a strong suspicion that It is quicktime that is causing all this.
    So I tried the following:
    - reinstalling, downgrading, updating, etc. Quicktime
    - renaming file extensions from .mov to .mp4
    - all sorts of export preferences, from image sequences to dvd to blueray and dv. (Image sequences, interestingly, occasionally export to about half a minute into the video(also depending on preferences), then freeze)
    - crossing my fingers
    - checking for gaps in video, found none
    - updating premiere pro and media encoder
    - throwing my mouse at the wall in frustration
    - making a new project with different settings and copying in the sequence
    - disabling "Include source xmp metadata"
    - making a new user account and trying it there
Is there anything else I can try?
Could I copy the project itself into a different program (e.g. iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) and export from there?
Is there an alternative to Adobe media encoder?
    Need more information?
    Thanks for the help!
    Specs:
    Premiere version: 4.2.1

256 Gb solid state (system, program files are here)
2TB HDD (video files, scratch disk are here)
    Nvidia gtx 660 graphics
    Windows 64 bit
    1 monitor

I bought quicktime pro today to try this, but to no avail. it just freezes up again during export.
I tried some other fixes on that page, like renaming files to .mpg extension, which worked once during an export of a test sequence (although everything was shifted and it cut off the export at the gopro footage).
Is there any way I can export this project to another program to export it from there perhaps?
    Thanks for the help!

  • Latest version of Premiere crashes when exporting media to Queue

    BUG REPORT TO ADOBE
    Select sequence
    Export Media
    Export QUEUE
Export dialogue appears, but progress frozen
    AME starts up
Premiere has crashed and required forced restart
    PP 8.2.0 (65)
    AME Build 8.2.0.54
The above are latest versions as of this morning. When will this be fixed? I cannot rely on this feature

Thanks for the suggestion - I will give that a try. This is on Mac OS X Yosemite BTW. I am now exporting via PP which always seems reliable but takes PP out of action for several hours while it exports, which is the main motivation to get it working properly with AME.

    Hi Jim,
I'm exporting Media into a file format suitable for Vimeo.  The interesting thing is that when exporting directly from Premiere Pro CC v7.2.1, I experienced the crash, but when I queued the job in AME, it ran to completion.  Trying to export directly from within PPro again causes it to crash, this time flagging ImporterREDServer.exe as the abending application.
    Thanks.
