Premiere CS5 won't relink P2 card files properly

In the picture, you'll see what I'm talking about.
I moved all my p2 files over to a new computer (Has exact same installation of Win 7 and Premiere CS5 that my other computer does)
I am trying to open my project on this new computer and it had me relink the files (Which are in the exact same folder structure and ererything as my 1st compuer) But when I relink, it only reads one of the multitde of .mxf files found in the folder! Instead of putting them all together as one clip like it's supposed to.
In the pic, you'll see that the Media Browser window reads the clip correctly, telling me that it's length is 1:07:28:12 (dark highlighted clip)
BUT in the Source window (where I opened the clip) you'll see it only reads the clip as 24:45:00!
AND Same on the Timeline, you'll see the clip I was trying to relink, but with a bunch of grey bars telling me that it's blank from that point on, so only 24 min. 45 sec got relinked!
Does anyone know why this may have happened and how to fix this?

I have a different issue with the mxf files. I find when I leave the Premiere application on a PC and come back it takes over a minute for the software to reconnect the hundreds of files. I know this is an issue with the mxf files, I did a test with QuickTime. Each clip in the mxf format is made up of four to five files. This was not a large project, it was a one day shoot with 130 clips.
Does anyone else have this issue?
What is your workaround? Transcode to another file type?
Thanks,
Jim

  • New Canon Rebel XSI, and Aperture won't read the .CS2 files properly??

    Hello all,
I have read through the posts but didn't fine one that answered my question. I just bought a Canon XSI and tried to upload my RAW files to Aperture, and first it showed the "unsupported image format" red screen. After messing around I could get it to see the images, but they were the size of thumbnails. It will read the JPG files fine. The Aperture site says that the CR2 files should work. I also tried deleting the rawfile in the system folder and re-ran the installer for 2.1 update, didn't change a thing. My Aperture version is 2.1.1. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John

Lucked out and figured out the real problem thanks to Mark Olson's blog:
    http://markolson.ca/2008/07/17/canon-eos-450d-rebel-xsi-cr2-raw-on-mac/
It turns out that the problem was related to RAW+JPG. Mac does not import the RAW files properly and I should have suspected this being the problem when I noticed the RAW file size was way too small (exact same size as the JPG file).
Luckily I had not deleted the files from my memory card so I was able to go back and import the RAW images again. Now at this point I'm going to ask Steve to cover his eyes because I had to use Vista to download the files!
    All seems ok now.

  • Premiere cs5 problem preview with mpeg 2 file

    hi
    i've another question
i open a new premiere cs 5.0.3 project with a matrox sequence lower filed
i import a dv tape from matrox firewire, and edit the file and export an mpeg2 file, everithing seems work fine, but...
if i import this mpeg2 file in premiere and i put in a timeeline it's impossible to see it clearly in a jvc external monitor i try to change the field but nothing change, only solutions is to activate flicker removal but doing this i loose quality
i try another project with file from canon 550,
i open a matrox 720p hd sequence and put on timeline the file and everything seems work fine and the output external monitor is ok but if i export into mepg2 file and i try import this mpeg 2 file in a matrox dv sequence is afwul and i have to set on filcker removal but so i loose quality
    my pc:
win 7 64bit, matrox rtx2 hd, nvidia gtx 470, jvc external monitor, 12gb ram ddr3 premiere cs 5.0.3

sorry i beg your pardon but i don't think it's a funny answer
i use premiere for my job from the first version, i spend my money in a software that i like (production premium)
sometimes i need to use mpeg file for a project because i haven't different format like avi etc
i do this many times with cs, cs3, cs4 without problem and now with cs5 i can't do to this anymore?
Maybe it's like a russian rullet knowing if the last version is really better than older one
I hope you can say me a tecnical answer
    thanks

  • Photoshop CS5 won't open my RAW files???

    Hi there.
I recently bought a Canon EOS 70 D for university and am taking new photos for school with my RAW capabilities. Every time I try to open them in Photoshop I get the error message "adobe photoshop could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of camera raw"
I updated photoshop and camera raw and I did check that my camera is on the list of supported cameras. I don't understand what else to do.

Support for that camera was added in Camera Raw 8.2: Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
However, CS5 cannot be updated beyond 6.7: Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  • Photoshop CS5 won't place/open image files

I've been trying to place some screen captures into a document and keep getting  a "could not place the document because of program error" alert. I tried opening them as well and get a similar error. I'm at a loss...

Hi there.  I am having the same problem which recently started with PhotoShop CS5 64-bit running on Windows 7 (64-bit).  When attempting to open a .PDF file (either directly from PhotoShop, or by right-clicking on the file and selecting 'Open As') ... a window appears with an illustration of a binder and the Acrobat logo, accompanied by the following message:
For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later.
    Get Adobe Reader Now!
The file I'm attempting to open is a PDF conversion of an Outlook email message.  The problem does appear to be associated with the file, because I can open the PDF in the same folder with no problems.
Anticipating that you may want the file, I have sent it to [email protected]
Feel free to contact me with questions.

  • Premiere cs5 crashing when I import video files

For video files, just about everytime, it crashes upon initial import. I have to restart the program and then it will be fine until like 10 min later where it happens again.
Sorry, a Serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down
    something like that
    I have:
    6 gb Ram
    1tb harddrive

One hard drive is BARELY going to edit SD material
My 3 hard drives are configured as... (WD = Western Digital)
    1 - 320G WD Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1T WD all video files... input & output files

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Ind CS5 won't package the indd file

It saves all the links etc but when it comes to package the indd file, which is about 120mb, it just spins. Any ideas?
    I'm running it on a PC with i5 processor, 4g ram, win7

Are you updated to the latest patch?
You might be missing a plug-in, although I would think you would receive a notice when opening the file, try to export to IDML, then re-open and package.

  • Illustrator CS5 won't honor my startup file in OS 10.8

It took me awhile to find the startup file so that I could empty out all of the swatches and stuff. So I finally found the Basic CMYK.ai file. I opened it and made all my edits to it. I saved the file and quit Illustrator. Now when I open Illustrator and create a new CMYK file none of the changes I made to the startup took, as in all my color swatches, brushes and everything like that are still there, but when I go back to the Basic CMYK.ai file it is correct. It is the way I left it.
I illustrate artwork for textbooks and I dont want to have to remove all those unneeded swatches everytime I create a new file. Please help.
    Mac OS 10.8.2

Normally I would change the startup in users/NAME/library/application support
But in OS 10.8 there is no library visible in users. So I changed the startup that I could find, which was the one in the main library.

  • Premiere CS5 won't start with new UAD drivers

Any workarounds? Can I change my vst folder prior to starting the program?
    Windows 7 64 bit

I would say roll back a driver as CS5 is quite old and it was working ok.

  • Audio out of sync h.264 file. Premiere CS5.5

After building a new machine with Premiere CS5.5, using NVIDIA Q4000 card, I'm having troubles wioth my audio being out of sync. I am exporting DSLR footage which the same sequence was previously fine on export on my old computer. Now, when I export, the audio is a few frames out of sync. There's something really funny going on. When I play the same video file in Windows media player, it seems to be in sync. When I play it in Quicktime, it's clearly out of sync. Also, when I upload it to Vimeo, it's out of sync as well.
If you'd like to see the specs of my computer, you will find them in this post:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4211881#4211881
When I export the same file to Mpeg DVD, it seems in sync. Does this issue sound familiar to anyone?

Cripes, what I've seen looks in order. I don't think it is a hardware issue.
Is the audio consistent, or does it drift?
The Audio in the sequence is wav extracted from raw footage, no? Was the audio recorded in camera? Was it a multicamera shoot? Was the original audio\video file the same sampling frequency? Same fps as the sequence?
And, if the audio was doctored outside of premiere, is there a chance that the time was altered?
Are the audio and video locked together on the timeline? Was it locked throughout the process?
Do you monitor the audio through the Blackmagic Decklink Intensity Pro while editing? Does the windows media player also use the card? I only ask because I had a matrox card that did this. If the Card's audio is looped back through the system, it could cause the delay in playback monitoring.
The source sequence is 50fps and the output is 25 fps. Have you tried outputing a 50fps file? Is the source footage 50fps?
If you export an un-edited source clip from the project, do you still get the issue?
All those questions aside, it seems really strange that it plays fine on the timeline, WMP, and VLC, but QT and Vimeo don't work for you. Are you getting the exact sme delay in QT and Vimeo? Could you post a link to the vimeo page? Have you tried test a youtube upload. Have you tried a HD WMV, mpeg2 or DVD of the project?

  • CS5 not reading a DV-avi file. Fine in Elements 3...

Screenshot from Elements 3. This clip will not play in Premiere CS5. But other DV-avi files play fine in CS5, but some of them dont. Why?

My guess would be that the clip that plays fine Elements but not in PPro is a DV AVI Type-1, which PPro does not like. PPro edits DV AVI Type-2, however, which is what I would guess the other clip is. That might explain the interleaving difference.
Try using the GSpot utility (http://www.headbands.com/gspot) to get more information about the files than Elements is able to tell you. If it is indeed a Type-1 AVI, you can convert it to a Type-2 AVI with a number of freely available utilities. Just search for "Type-1 to Type-2 AVI converter" and you should find plenty.

  • Adobe Premiere CS5.5 GOPRO HERO

Hi, I need your help. I'm trying to import a GOPRO HERO movie to Adobe premiere CS5.5. It imports the file, but when I click it twice to open it in the source monitor the software hangs and closes. I think it's a mp4 file: 1920x1080p / 25fps. Another problems: I want to import about 300 JPG pictures to make a time lapse movie: it happens the same! The software hangs and closes: the pictures are 2592x1944 pixels: what am I supposed to do? Thanks a lot.
    Maximo Xavier.

In fact my software was hanging due to my sli system; I turned it off, now it is working perfectly! You know that it's impossible importing still images as an image sequence to Ad. premiere, you can do this with Af. Effects only. To make a movie with the still images, I have done the following...
The JPEG pictures are 2592x1944 pixels, so I created a sequence with resolution close to this...
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kCpUXsfKoSs/UaEuH6eDJXI/AAAAAAAABfc/Rnah9XAYP4E/s1600/SHOT53.jpg
I went to preferences > general > I Changed each still image defaullt duration to 1 frame as you can see in the link below.
    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7ziAKSBK4v8/UaEuSEmTnwI/AAAAAAAABfk/CK2LTMVvAY4/s1600/SHOT50.jpg
So when I drag all the still pictures to the timeline, each still image should behave as a frame of a movie, shouldn't it? But it doesn't, look at this.
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-veBW6cd4R_Y/UaEue-ITfeI/AAAAAAAABfs/1Nz3sE_V4N8/s1600/SHOT51.jpg
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_k-TIJu4BC0/UaEur8tdTgI/AAAAAAAABf0/-4ynJkpbaHE/s1600/SHOT52.jpg
See in the last link? Each stil image / frame lasts 5 seconds! I have to select all of them and changing its duration to 00;00;00;01. It works, but it takes a lot! How could I make my life more simple?

  • ProRes422 HQ File (142gigs) won't open on PC running win7 & Premiere CS5

-My associate has Adobe Premiere (CS5) running on her PC under Windows 7 and cannot open the 142gig prores 422(HQ) QT file on my Gdrive and I believe it's because she's running Windows 7.
-At ScreamerVision in NY where I had the file put on a 1tb GDrive from my XDcam Master, we managed to open it on a small Dell machine running XP and it ran the 142 gig movie flawlessly.
-Do anyone have any ideas why it won't open on her PC or if there's a plug-in from Apple or Adobe that she could put on her PC that would make it possible for her to open the Prores 422 HQ file on her PC with Premiere? Once she does that she can transcode it to any file format she needs to use.
    - She doesn't appear to have any PC machines running XP except for an old one that doesn't have USB 2.0, eSata or Firewire (all the outputs of my GDrive).
Anyone run across this before? Any suggestions or answers? Thanx in advance.

    A.  PROBLEM: Each time I try to use this reputable program (version 5.2 (7534.52.7), I encountered the following problem:
Program (1) loads instantly, (2) presents the browser space, (3) agrees to open new tabs, (4) but when I try to direct it to ANY URL at all, the hour-glass appears, but the wait is fruitness.  I cannot reach any site at all.
I've tried to access the program, both as "administrator" and regular "user."  No joy.
All I ever get showing is the interesting interface (and an hour-glass on an URL-call) and nothing else.
Even though it's about a different application, I'd try the following document with that:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(Safari uses the same webkit engine to render web pages as iTunes uses to render the Store pages. So an issue that can cause the iTunes Store to blank can also cause a Safari for Windows application on the same PC to produce blank pages.)
