Premiere CS6 crashes after enabling GPU acceleration

is there a reason this would be happening? i'm running the Nvidia 680M.

I'm currently running 8.17.13.271. when i attempt to install the new driver (306.97) for the 680M i get 'could not find compatible hardware'
The GPU seems to run fine when i don't enable GPU acceleration. after i enable GPU acceleration in the nvidia control panel i get major problems. computer crashes on boot on premiere and after effects. It takes me about 2 hours to get it to boot out of safe mode after it crashes.

  • Premiere CS6 crashing after XML import.

    Hi Guys,
I've been having trouble with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (Trial Version) crashing, with no specific debug error message, after importing an XML (any version) file from FCP 7.
I reinstalled Premiere, exported/imported the XML with different settings... It seems that my specific master timeline does not compile well enough into XML for PPro.
I also tried other simple sequences into XML, which import perfectly into PPro. It's just my master timeline, what can I do to optimise it for XML export? What would be a solution to my problem?
    Thanks for your support,
    - Jules.

I can't speak too highly of automatic duck.  When it was a paid app, the support was excellent.  And even without support, it will generate an error log that points at whatever the issue is.
Have you tried doing a single shot in a sequence without any effects, just one shot and doing the xml thing?  What are your sequence settings and what are your sources?

  • Premiere CS6 Crashing after opening project

After updating Mac OS to 10.8.2 (which I guess one should not do in the middle of a project, but when are we NOT in the middle of one?) and dumping a couple of non-Adobe applications, I now find that each time I open Premiere Pro to access either yesterdays' or the previous day's version of a project, the app quits after getting as far as showing me the project in the timeline: it appears, then it crashes. I've tried:
    dumping preferences;
    un-installing and re-installing Premiere Pro;
    repairing preference files (using command line "fsck -fy" in single-user mode);
    crying;
NOTE: It will open a new project and timeline without quitting, which suggests there's something I need to do to the project I want to open, and I did try holding down Command+Option+Shift while restarting Premiere to get new prefs....no luck, it still quit when I tried opening the file(s).
And I have a deadline of tomorrow!!!! Your suggestions would be most timely.

I just found this and wanted to chime in to potentially help anyone else who may be having a similar issue.  I was just about to finish a project and the same issue decribed above was happening to me.  I rectified the problem by creating a new project and importing the project I was having problems with.  I chose to only import the sequence I needed to export.  After it was imported I tried to open it and it crashed again.  So I knew it had to be something in the sequence.  Since I  have never had any problems before this, I analyzed what I had done differently in this project.  Recently I started using adjustment layers to apply my Magic Bullet looks, so I started by deleting that from the browser.  After that everything worked fine.  I have no idea why this worked but I am glad it did.  I think the best advice I can give is to try importing the sequence and deleting elements from the browser that may cause an isssue.

  • Adobe Premiere (CS6) crashes after start up - what could the problem be?

I open up a project I have been working on for about a year now. It does have a fair amount of footage within it, but I recently cleared out some unused (draft) sequences and some back up files/images.
Shortly after start up it crashes and displays this message:
I am on a bit of a deadline and am not sure what to do.
The other night it stopped crashing for the evening and I could use it fine. But today it is crashing again...
Appreciate any help in resolving this!

    Welcome to the forum!
My assumption is that you've meant to say WXGA which would reflect 1280x800...BTW, what's the 7-character code of your ThinkPad?
Lowering the brightness would be the first step IMO. The only LCDs that have never given me headaches were FlexViews, but Lenovo phased them out... There are also settings in Vista that should be able to help you make the colours less offensive for your eyesight...
Good luck and let us know.
    Cheers,
    George

  • Premiere CS6 Crashes in Effects Controls

I have a 2012 iMac with the AMD 6770M 512MB and Premiere allows me to enable GPU accel. but with it turned on, everything I adjust something in the effects control, it freezes the program and requires a force start. It works fine if I disable GPU accel. but it would be unfortunate to lose that power. Any thoughts?

    Update.
Imported same files in to CS5... works with no crashes, albeit with poor AVCHD playback performance...
Would like to have an Adobe response on this sort of thing.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 crashing after RAM upgrade

I just got Premiere Pro almost a week ago after using FCP for years. I was just getting accustomed to it and thought I would upgrade my RAM to help Dynamic Link run smoother. I doubled it from 4 GB to 8 GB today and now Premiere Pro crashes either immediately or after about 20 minutes. My computer is a 2009 Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz. The new ram is from OWC.com. I ran a RAM test in Tech Tools and it passed as having no problems. Can anyone suggest anything? I would hate to have to go back to 4 GB and be limited to that.

    UPDATE:
This problem is not fixed at all. I went about 2 hours without a crash then had about 5 of them in a row. I have been reading everywhere trying to find a place to start. A full system rebuild and reinstall would take me a day or 2 that I don't have. The crashes happen any time, sometimes at startup, sometimes when I'm editing, sometimes when I am not doing anything. I get the "serious error" message and sometimes just get a "quit unexpectedly" along with this log:

  • I installed Encore by reverting to Premiere CS6, but after Encore loads and a new project is created, it crashes (exits) before I can do anything.

I followed the procedure described on the website of uninstalling Premiere CC, installing Premiere CS6, uninstalling it leaving Encore installed and reinstalling Premiere CC. I also installed the menu presets as described on another page of the website.
Encore loads and I try to create a new project specifying pathname and project name. Before I can do anything further, Encore exits with a windows dialogue about "Due to a problem the program must exit".
I did notice that some of the text boxes were filled in with values corresponding to old projects so Encore is picking up old configuration information from somewhere.

Thanks for this. The reason why I uninstalled PR CC was that in trying to follow the procedure in Encore CS6 not installed with Creative Cloud I came to step 5, Locate Premiere Pro in the list and click Install. But with PR CC installed, the button just says "Up To Date". Uninstalling allowed me to proceed.
Windows 7, and I tried running as administrator with no change.
Permissions seems unlikely to me, but if Encore can pick up old configuration data, which relates to projects that no longer exist and the pathnames won't be valid seems more likely. Do you know where it is stored so that I could try deleting it? When I last used Encore it was on Vista.
I would love to do a full Adobe uninstall as I have CS4 and 5.5 versions still hanging around, but errors occur if I try to uninstall them, and even when I tried downloading a special cleaner program from Adobe it didn't succeed.
Fortunately I have access to Canopus Edius and as a short term solution I have used that to author my DVD, but it would be great to get Encore up and running.

  • Warp stabiliser in Premiere CS6 crashes

    Hi
Been playing with Premier CS6 since downloading yesterday.
I am getting regular crashes (windows tells me premiere has stopped working)
I add a clip onto he timeline, I add the warp stabiliser, analyise then play back - I go back to effects to change some warp settings, and the crash occurs.
Anyone else seeing this before I report to adobe
    Thanks
    Chris Anderson

Project file WITHOUT Warp Stabilizer on my clip was 3.5MB.  WITH Warp Stabilizer it jumped to 7.6MB....
    Now you're seeing it...
Here's where I realized something was amiss: I had a less than two minute sequence, all hand-held footage, that I wanted to stabilize. There were only about 6 or 7 clips in the sequence, and no other effects. I dropped Warp Stabilizer on the clips, and let it analyze... it took awhile, but I was OK with that. When it was done, despite Warp Stabilizer being a GPU-accelerated effect (after analysis), most of the clips were red bar. Hmm...
So, thinking maybe I just needed a restart, I saved my project. And I waited. And I waited some more. About a minute later, my project final stopped saving. Weird. So I tried to do something in the Timeline... and it was like running through a tar pit.
I killed off Pr, and went to check my project file... it was over 50MB... for a 7 clip, less than two minute sequence. That's a problem. When I finally got the project open again, I purged all the Warp Stabilizer instances, and saved a new copy of the project. This time, it was about 1.3MB. That is a HUGE difference, all attributed to Warp Stabilizer. Needless to say, I'm very reluctant to Warp Stabilizer do its damage to my project files, regardless of how good the output is.
So, let this be a cautionary tale. If you think you'll only need to stabilize a few seconds here or there, or you're totally cool with working in a completely different project to stabilize your footage (though look how well that worked for me), go for it. Fair warning...

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-Bit GPU Acceleration Stopped Working

I've been using Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit when one day the GPU acceleration features stopped working. I closed the application and restarted it and the GPU acceleration still didn't work. I couldn't rotate the canvas or use scrubby zoom. I rebooted my system and it still wasn't working. I check my performance preferences and my graphics processor was detected with the "Use Graphics Processor" box checked. I unchecked it and rechecked but the GPU acceleration still wasn't working. I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and reinstalled it. I got the GPU acceleration to work opening the application right after the install. I close Photoshop CS6 64-bit and reopened it and the GPU acceleration wasn't working again. I am able to use GPU acceleration features in Photoshop CS6 32-bit with no problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Ultimate Edition and I have a GeForce 280m GTX GPU. Would there be anyone out there who can help me with this issue. Thanks.

From what I gathered on this Forum there is a good chance that it may be related to the driver – unfortunately it could be either becasuse it’s obsolete or a bad new version.

I’ve tried many un installs...re-installs. no luck.
Getting rid of permissions. no luck.
    Installed lastest Java. no luck
Language settings to US English. no luck
The only thing that DOES work is changing users.
What's wrong with my old user profile? Premiere CS6 works in it? I've just migrated MBP's BTW.
Any ideas? This is VERY common I'm reading. Users are fed up. Adobe, please answer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "new user setting." User profile? Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs? Frankly, even if that detail were clear, I probably wouldn't have a good answer. I'm a tester, not a developer, and installation and program launch are not my areas of expertise.
The error message from AE specifying that it could not rename a file makes me wonder if it's a permissions issue with the old user profile. I know you reported "Getting rid of permissions. no luck." Can you elaborate on what you mean by that?
There's no arguing your point have Premiere Pro (and other apps) have had some issues running on Mavericks. In your first post, you listed off a few of them. To that list, you should add third party plug-ins (see, for example, Post #18 in this thread) and graphics drivers. Only a fraction of these issues are within Adobe's power to rectify; Premiere Pro resolved at least on such issue with the 7.1 update that was released about a week after Mavericks went live.
It's not uncommon for major new versions of operating systems to introduce problems--not only bugs within the new OS itself but curveballs for various programs, drivers, plug-ins, etc. Such issues take time to understand and address. If Mavericks has proven too disruptive in your case, then you might consider rolling back to 10.8. Several regulars on this forum have stated that they typically wait until at least the first patch.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro - Crashing with OpenCL Hardware Acceleration on Export

    Hey everybody,
One of the major reasons I decided to buckle down and pay for PPCC was the OpenCL Hardware acceleration with AMD cards. I run two AMD Radeon 7870s in Crossfire right now, and I immediately noticed a huge difference in performance when editing. When it came time to export my video, though, Premiere Pro would crash after rendering around 2% of the full video. I've tried both with and without Crossfire activated but using OpenCL with Hardware acceleration crashed my export no matter what. As soon as I turned it back to regular Mercury Playback (software only), the project rendered just fine.
I currently have the lastest AMD drivers and have had no other issues with my card, and I also gave PPCC the latest update as well. Any idea why this might be happening? I wouldn't be surprised if I need to wait for a latest AMD driver in order to get things to work with the brand new CC apps, but I figured I'd farm my question out here just in case. I'm running on Windows 8 64 bit.

Yes. I have problems with my new AMD 1950 3GB. I creat 2h 20 min project on premiere cc and put on all material color correction. NO lumetri. Premiere crache on export about 1h after working.
I was editing AVCHD material and export from presets to Blu-Ray H264 and mpeg2 with the same result.

    Project: veloci raptor 250GB
    Export: veloci raptor 250GB
    RAM: 32 GB
    Graf: radeon HD7950 3GB, Gigabyte
When I switch to my old card - nvidia - GTX470 everything just go fine and my export is finish perfectly.
I was using beta driver from amd 13.4.
It is confusing because I bought that card especially for Premiere CC, and I was thinking to bought second one, and maybe more...
Please help what can I do with it.

  • Premiere CS6 crashing on sound recording

Hello! I have serious troubles with CS6 sound recording. In one sequence, I have no problems at all, in another sequence (same sequence settings, same number of tracks and roughly the same length), the programme shuts down every time I stop recording. I am using a Sony M-10 plugged into Soundblaster X-Fi USB (line in), but don't see the problem there.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and found a magical solution? Thanks a lot in advance!

I might have found the issue... when I create a new track and don't rename it, it works fine. As soon as I rename it (in my case to "V/O") Premiere crashes after recording!

  • Premiere CS6 crashes every time when startup

My Premiere CS6 has started to crash every time I try to start it. It allows me to choose a project or a new one but after downloading a project it crashes and the software closes. I recently changed my graphic card (to NVIDIA Geforce 580) but it shouldn't be a problem, right? The drivers of graphic card are updated. Any suggestions what should I try? A few tips I found but they didn't work.
Could it help if I reinstall the software and if I do so, what happens to unfinished projects? Will they be usable after reinstalling?
    Operating system: Windows 64bit
    Thanks!

•For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Premiere Elements crashes after 2 min. what's going on?

I've been working with Premiere Elements about a month now. Initially it was very slow so I upgraded my memory and used Adobe's advice for optimal playback. That seemed to clear things up. However in the past couple days it will crash after about 2 minutes of being open. It never fails. Sometimes it will give me an error message and other times it will just freeze.
This is the error I'll sometimes get:
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't found any errors today, even though it has crashed several times, but I did find this error from last Friday (when all this crashing started happening):
These are the codecs for my file:
Here's the screenshot of my project:
Once I open that project, it has crashed within two minutes of it being open, even if I don't do anything. I don't have any special effects besides the titles. All I've been doing with this project is rearrange files within the timeline. So far I haven't had problems with other projects or files, but my other projects are under 1 minute and I have spent the majority of my time on this project and file.
What happens is the program sometimes just freezes (and I've let it sit to see if it would unfreeze itself, that works only about half the time). Other times it just shuts itself down with no error message. I've also received these two errors:
If I get the "Project Save Error" and I try to save it somewhere else, it still gives me the same error. The only way I can get out of that error is to shut down the program without saving.
This is what I've done so far:
Installed Windows updates (all critical updates installed except for Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3)
    Updated QuickTime
    Cleaned up start-up programs
    Turned off indexing
    Deleted temporary files
    Ran system virus scans
    Defragmented my C:\ drive
Set priority level for Premiere Elements to AboveNormal.
I save all of my files directly onto my computer (not the network drives)
    Any other suggestions?
