Premiere Element 9 Blur Something Out?
Is there a way to deliberately blur something out in a clip in a movie I am making? Also how can I bleep out bad words? It's been a while as always I am sure I am posting in the wrong place right?
There are a couple ways to Blur a moving object. The amount of work will depend on how much movement there is. This article on "highlighting a moving object," will apply, but one would Blur instead of adjusting an aspect, like Brightness, or Contrast: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4575874#4575874
One could use a Blur, or perhaps a Mosaic.
As for the Audio, one can use this article on Volume of Audio, or perhaps they would wish to do that, plus add a "beep" SFX to the area, that is "bleeped:" http://forums.adobe.com/message/5153895#5153895

Premiere Elements 12 MP4 Audio out of Sync
Hi, I have just purchased Premiere Elements 12 and im editing MP4's but it seems that for some reason when i import them into PE12 the audio and video is fine up to a certain point then for some reason the audio gets out of sync. But when i play the raw file in VLC its totally fine =\ Anyone have any ideas?
Windows 7 64 Bit with 64bit Version installed.
P.S It seems to just happen on longer videos around 10mins
The only way ive managed to fix this is ungroup the audio and video and cut the audio down so its in sync.. im not doing that every time. Pretty dissapointed with this software tbh =\Gazi

NVIDIA Shadow Play that you are using, apparently for screen capture purposes, is a NVIDIA product. Have you contacted NVIDIA about its product which appears to be a "beta" version at that?
If you can supply more details about your source, perhaps I could spot the core of the issue. Properties from a video audio properties readout program such as MediaInfo would be very helpful in this regard. I find it curious that the properties readout that you post has no Video and Audio bitrate. The video compression shown appears to be H.264 and the audio format seems to be AAC. But what is the wrapper format as represented by the file extension of the file.
An aside....By the way, QuickTime is a requirement for Premiere Elements (any version). And it, like Premiere Elements needs to be run from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and often also with Run As Administrator applied.
Please clarify, you seem to be saying, that 4 or 5 months ago, you could work with "NVIDIA Shadow Play Beta" recorded video in Premiere Elements 12 without issue, but now you cannot?
a. Do you have the audio out of sync video issue with both the video recorded 4 or 5 months ago and the video recorded today?
b. Is the problem gone for both when you roll back the driver version to what it was 4 or 5 months ago.
The answers to both of those questions would be a good starting point.

It would normally be inside, though it might involve a redemption code as well. In any case, since Adobe doesn't sell older versions of their software you likely need to contact whoever sold it to you to get assistance with the serial number for it. If you have more information to offer feel free to add it.

I just bought Elements 9, which installed and is running no problem, but when I then tried to install Premiere Elements 9, it threw out the disc 4 times and told me

i got an answer to use archive function from Mr. Romano:
I did as you said, but it did not work, I get the dummy video with no real video.
I had no menu yet on the video.
What came in my mind when I read your e-mail, on one PC is WIndows 8.1 64 bit and on the other Windows 7 32 bit.
When I load the videos from the camrecorder (tape) with Premiere Elements without doing something, I can switch to the other PC and it works.

How did you go about transferring the Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 7 64 bit to Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Therein is what I believe is your problem. You in all likelihood do not have a codec problem of any kind, rather Premiere Elements 12 project on Windows 8.1 64 bit with disconnect between it source media and the project file. Here is how it goes.
When you import a file into Premiere Elements project, what you have in Premiere Elements is a copy of the original which is still at its hard drive save location. But the project must trace back to that original on its hard drive save location.
You may have the project.prel (project file) opening in Premiere Elements 12 on the second computer, but what I suspect to be the case is that you do not have the project media on that second computer.
If so....On the first computer, archive the project with File Menu/Project Archiver and its Copy Project option. Transfer the resulting saved Copied Folder to a USB Flash Drive which will be used to transfer the Copied Folder to the second computer. In the second computer, open the Copied Folder, right click the project.prel file in the Copied Folder, select Open With, and then Premiere Elements 12.
Did you set up disc menu in the Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 64 bit project?

I bought the canon 500d dslr camera and I'm unable to load it onto my premiere. The codec is missing as the camera shoots in mov. Is it possible to convert it so that it will work on premiere 7

I did some homework on your questions and came up with some interesting answers which you might want to explore:
The Camera
a. Your camera Canon 500D is otherwise known as the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i SLR and records
1920 x 1080 at 20 fps
or
1280 x 720 at 30 fps
or
640 x 480 at 30 fps
Which one of the three is involved in your question? Or, is it all? And what Premiere Elements 7 project preset are you using? So, if you go the conversion to DV AVI route, you are going to end up with a frame size of 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) whether you select DV AVI standard or widescreen.
I have downloaded Canon 500D samples of each of those types and have had no issues importing them importing them into Premiere Elements 7 with the appropriate project preset. Before I imported them into Premiere Elements 7, I checked out the video and audio codecs for each and found that they appeared to be the same..
1920 x 1080 at 20 fps
Video Codec AVC1 Name H.264
Audio Codec: sowt: 16-bit signed little-endian
44100 Hz
1280 x 1080 at 30 fps

So that surfaces the question why are you getting no codec message and what to do about it.
a. Conversion of your AVC1.mov to DV AVI is one possibility if you want 720 x 480 pixels frame size. If you are after DV AVI 4:3, then Prism Converter should serve your purposes. If you are after DV AVI 16:9, then MPEG Streamclip is the route to follow since Prism does not do a DV AVI 16:9.
b. BUT, based on my results, you should not have to convert that Canon video before importing. So first I ask, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer as well as Windows Media Player? Codecs used in Premiere Elements typically come from Windows and those that came along with the installation of a player. I have even seen sites for downloading free "AVC1 codec".
c. In order to check my results, you could try downloading the video samples that I used for my test and see if they import or do not import into your Premiere Elements.

AVCHD-like and AVCHD-Lite formats as well as the various wrappers .mov, .mp4 can be challenging for Premiere Elements, but in this case, IF I HAVE IDENTIFIED THE CAMERA THAT YOU ARE USING, there should be no problem importing these media into Premiere Elements 7. I have never and did not download the AVC1 video codec to get my successful results in this mini study.

I bought at Media Market the CD for installing Photoshop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 but I have no disc drive. Is it possible to install and register it online?
I was in the same boat as you, so I went to Best Buy and purchased the box (on sale, by the way). I then downloaded the trials separately for Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements from the Adobe product site.
In the box you should have been given 2 discs (one for Photoshop Elements (PS) and one for Premiere Elements (PE)) and something called a "redemption code" on a square of colorful cardboard with instructions on how to get your serial keys for installation. The single redemption code is NOT the serial/product key you use to install your purchase. Once you follow the instructions on this card you will be shown two serial/product codes, one each for PE and PS. Write them down, print them, whatever, you will need them during installation.
Now go to the downloaded trial file(s) and run the installer, either for PE first or PS, it makes no difference. During the installation you will be asked if you want to start a trial or use a serial/product code. Choose "I have a code". Enter the product key and you will be golden. Repeat for the other program.

How do you want to integrate the program relates to getting the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor slideshow into a Premiere Elements project in the .psess, non wmv, route using the Slideshow Editor's Output option "Edit With Premiere Elements Editor". When you go this route, the Premiere Elements option "Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow" command is available and enables you to do significant additional edits to the slideshow. This type of integration is typically available with integrated sets, such as 12/12, 11/11, etc.
If you are using the Elements Organizer as a storage place for organized videos, you could import them into any version of Premiere Elements version (provided the formats are supported by the version) from their computer hard drive save location.
Both Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 12 are standalone program programs that come with an Elements Organizer, one with Elements Organizer 11 and the other with Elements Organizer 12. If you have an dedicated bunch of organized videos in Elements Organizer 11, you can convert that catalog in Elements Organizer 12 that comes with Premiere Elements 12.

Correcting blurred photos in premiere elements 11
I have checked several solutions to correcting blurred photos in premiere elements 11. Most of them turn out to be different versions and does not help me. I have had: in expert mode select photo, filter-other-high pass. I tried this and doesnt work. I believe if this is the way to correct blurred photos, I am missing a step somewhere. I have gone to enhance-adjust sharpness or unsharp. I must be doing something wrong. or can you correct blurred photo?

What is the situation - I do not really see the typical 720 x 480 resolution vs HD resolution type of question. I am seeing it as a photo editing (sharpening) question which may or may not be related to further use of these photos in Premiere Elements 11.
Which of the following is applicable to your situation..
a. You have great looking photos saved on the computer hard drive, but, after you import them into Premiere Elements, they look blurry on the Timeline and you want to try to correct that
or
b. You have great looking photos, but, after you import them into Premiere Elements and burn them to DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, the photos are blurry in the playback of the DVD-VIDEO with your TV's DV player
or
c. None of the above, rather you are trying to improve the sharpness of your photos in general using Photoshop Elements Full Editor/Filter Menu/Other/High Pass. If so, have you tried the Unsharp Mask under the Enhance Menu?
Consider the distinction between sharpening an image (contrast changes) and trying to correct a bad blur in the original.
From all that you have written, I suspect that this involves "c" and how to get the best results for sharpening an image in Photoshop Elements. If that is the case, you might seek input from the Photoshop Elements Forum here on that. Another possibility is that you may be creating pixelation in your images if you are up-sizing your images in the search for higher resolution and better quality.
Please give as much more detail to make sure that your question and its answer can be targeted correctly.

I bought the Adobe student version of Photoshop and Premiere Elements a few months ago - and now I am trying to use it, and the serial number that I have is incorrect - or it is only the registration number or something? It says I should have been sent an email with the serial number once the product was registered - But I never received this email. If anyone is able to help me with this issue - that would be great. the registration number is: PEPEP6-5578-6450-8871-9107 I am using a windows based system
If I were you I would first make sure CS6 was deactivated or signed-out. Then download Adobe's cleaner and remove cc, CS6 and any other creative application installed including Creative Cloud desktop application. Then install CS6 and use your CS6 serial number during the install to activate CS6 standard or extended which ever the serial number is for. CS6 Version 13.0 should the be activated. That level of CS6 is extremely bug ridden so be sure to the use CS6 menu Help>Updates to get CS6 updates. Windows should update to version 13.0.1.3 Mac to version 13.0.6. Not Subscription CS6 version 13.1.2...

Premiere Elements 4/Photoshop elements 7 - grayed out menu
I am a total newbie with no artistic skills at all. I am just trying to create a DVD using ONE clip.
I want to create a still shot from the clip to use as a menu background.
According to the Premiere Elements 4 help screen I should just have to click on the camera and then have the OPTION to edit the image in Photoshop Elements. For my setup this option is grayed out. All I can do is save the image as a .bmp (bitmap).
Can someone tell me why this is? Did I do something wrong in setup?
Is there a good book for PE ver 4?

What did you (manually) or the project (automatically) set as the project preset which is supposed to match the properties of the source media?
(What are the details under Edit Menu/Project Settings/General...even if they look grayed out?)
Your project preset and the properties of what you bring into the project need to match.
If you are bringing in 720 x 480 4:3, then your project preset should be NTSC DV Standard.
If you are bringing in 1920 x 1080 16:9, then your project preset is one that is described for 1920 x 1080.
2. Where you are probably getting into problems, is trying to export a 4:3 import as a 16:9 end product or
trying to export a 16:9 import as a 4:3 end product.
If you confirm project preset, the properties of the source video, and what kind of export you want, I can fill
in the details of your export settings so that you can complete the task.

Just kidding. There’s no crime here unless you believe that it’s flat-out wrong for Adobe to jump from version 4.0 to version 7.0 just to ensure that Premiere Elements matches version numbers with Photoshop Elements 7.0.
One thing we hoped for that’s definitely not present: three full upgrades’ worth of new features and improvements. Adobe continues to use its dumbed-down interface, which we initially viewed with disgust. Oddly enough, the more we’ve used it, the more forgiving we’ve become; we’ve grown quite fond of the newb-friendly front end, despite the fact that it’s basically unchanged. The menus and titling in the consumer video editor continue to be top-notch, as well.
Changes to the program include AVCHD editing support, which we welcome, and the addition of wizard-like features, some good, some so-so. InstantMovie, for example, allows you to easily turn a bunch of clips into a movie, parsing the best clips and adding transitions and effects for you automatically. Similar features have been a big disappointment to us in the past and InstantMovie isn’t a noticeable improvement. The pain of being forced to watch someone else’s home video isn’t lessened just because it’s automatically dressed up with transitions, filters, and a soundtrack. On the other hand, SmartSound makes creating soundtracks a snap. It includes some free music, or you can add your own MP3s to create copyright-violating home movies. Our favorite wizard is the SmartTags feature, which mitigates the tedium of organizing your clips. After you import clips, it scans them for close-ups, crowds, small groups, blurry images, shaky shots, and even focus problems. It’s not perfect and it lacks actual facial recognition, but it does help if you have a lot of footage to wade through.
Our biggest problem with Premiere Elements is that it suffers a host of problems (both minor and major). The first glitch occurred when we were trying to capture HDV footage via FireWire from a Canon HV10. The app’s preview screen would simply stop showing the preview footage. The content would capture, but we could not watch it as it was captured. OK, not a show stopper. More serious was our inability to burn more than one hour of HD footage to a Blu-ray disc. The app would either hang or reboot Windows Vista 64-bit. And it’s not like we didn’t bring enough firepower. We tested using this month’s Gateway FX6800 (page 76), which was equipped with a 2.93GHz Core i7-940, Radeon HD 4870 X2, and 6GB of RAM. We checked online and others have reported problems getting lengthy high-def video to Blu-ray disc, as well. Only by tweaking OS settings were others able to complete their projects. For the record, we had no problems burning the same project at DVD resolution.
When we contacted Adobe, our rep initially said the app is limited to burning roughly an hour of high-def resolution video. Adobe then later claimed to successfully burn two hours of high-def with no problems. So what’s the truth? All we know is that our project burned when we edited it to 17 minutes but choked at 59 minutes. As Madden says, “Boom!”
As a sanity check, we loaded Cyberlink’s PowerDirector 7 on the same box, took the MPEG-2 HDV files and encoded and wrote a one hour, 15 minute Blu-ray disc without a hitch.
Our other issues with Premiere Elements go back to the roots of the program. Since it’s based on the DNA of Premiere Pro, its main purpose is to make videos from traditional DV, HDV, or AVCHD cams. Try to feed it weird exotic video codecs and it chokes. The program, for example, can’t do something as basic as handling MS-DVR files, which can be created by almost any Vista PC with a TV tuner. Given people’s growing interest in consuming, editing, and “mashing up” video from dozens of sources, developers with stronger codec portfolios, such as Corel and Ulead, will likely win out.
With sub-par codec support and problems burning to Blu-ray discs, it’s pretty hard to recommend Premiere Elements 7.0. Maybe version 11.0 will be better. -

im moving slowely forward in speeding up making presentations by using the new discovered smart tricks or functions.
So you understand my level of expertise:
This step by step production methode im using now give's me controle without the (full) knowledge of all the (smart)functions in this program.and slowely learning the way arround.
starting a project: a mix of photo's and avi's, starting with manual time line filling with the selected files then the timesaving "Standard crosover on all selected".
second: placing a header with the titel at the front and a ending a the end. (cut al the wrong or bad pieces and extend some photo viewingtime if needed.)
And then adding subtitels/tekst and use some other crosovers to highlight the change of subject or stills to movie.
And at last: placing the background music on "soundtrack": after some fiddeling around ive choose to cut the musictrack between the avi's instead of let the music play all the time and adjust the volume down to zero when a avi is playing.
this have two advantages:
1) the songs can be streched by by cut and jumping to the end of the avi soundtrack. (no loss of music through fading out and still let it play so need less musicsongs.)
2) And the rightclick fade function with the standaard fadingtime => "fade out" and "fade in" is easly to use because of the end track avi and begin track music timeline. (And if needed lowering the fading slope/ extend the fading time by moving the "points" on the audio line)
But; its a lot of work and after the first run through the presentation(or watching on TV) and there is a adjustment needed (fadingtime, volume-changes) you have to adjust every bit of the soundtrack. (keeping the volume "feeling" the same is the difficult part.)
I will read about the Smart Mix function and test it on a other project. see of its fits my kind of using and expertise. (every automatic (smart) function needs understanding of its purpes and limitations and there are a lot of them in premiere
What is in your opinion the most effective way of adjusting volume of audio parts across the hole project so its merged in to one audio/soundlevel?
(and offcourse in the hole way of building the presentation.) -
I have adobe Premiere Elements 13. It will not let me delete audio or have it fade in or out. I can move the yellow line all the way down till the volume reads -0.0, but the sound is still there on playback. I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. What am I doing wrong?

Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.
