Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working

Actually it has not worked yet.
I just installed the Premiere Elements 10 -  again, followed all the details.
My laptop is Acer Iconia 6102 dual screen touchbook
Windows 7, Intel Core i5 CPU M480@ 2.67GHz, sys mem= 4gb
Toshiba MK6465GSX disk drive, Intel HD Gaphics
The computer is new.
The dialogue says that Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working and will shut down.

This machine has only the one drive listed, nothing hidden. 512 gb free, removed some unecessary files. I did manual updates for the hardware and all software, everything is up to date. Went through the preceeding steps. There was no need to scan suorce files, I have nothing uploaded. The program will not complete its startup. The splash page pops up,dialogue flashes all the drivers and files being loaded, then quits. Does not open. The Organizer opens, but I still cant get PE to open thru it either. My computer wont allow me to change resolution. Could the fact that this machine is touch screen, dual display have anything to do with it? Using up too much resources? The resuorce monitor is idle @ 0. My Windows Movie Maker works fine.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements has stopped working

I have had APE 9 for about a year and recently bought a new computer.  I re-downloaded it, using the original serial numbers and everything was fine.  I loaded up a video successfully and everything seemed fine.  I have a Sony HDR CX115 camera and use APE to edit the videos.  The new computer runs Windows 7, the older one was XP.  During the editing process, which normally takes a couple of hours, the machine crashed about 30 times and the message above was displayed.  I resorted to saving everying minute or so, and eventually got the job done.  Anyone any ideas?  Have I got one of the settings wrong.  Assume there's no problem about re-using the original software?

  • "Adobe elements has stopped working."

I've received the error "Adobe elements has stopped working" and then the program closes.  It has happened numerous times and now happens more and more often.  Does anyone have any fixes for this?

I've been having the same problem.
Win7 64bit 8GB RAM, 500GB free hard drive space.  All Win updates in place on a regular basis (last time was 2 days ago).
I often get the "stopped working" popup message on my desktop right after I close the program (well, yeah, I would hope it would stop working when I close it) and also increasingly get it on the desktop when I open the program (before the PE12 screen opens).  This latter popup "stopped working" message will persist until I close the popup window, even though the program is working just fine.
The most occurrences of actual crashes seem to be when doing a lot of titles (new or editing existing), when saving, and when exporting.
For awhile it seemed (very subjectively) that rendering the project before saving or exporting possibly helped reduce the number of occurrences, but just now the "stopped working" message popped up and the program quit while I was rendering (got about 80% through).
This time I checked the "check online for a solution" box, but to no avail--there was a brief period while Windows searched online, and then the program shut down anyway.
I've tried rebooting, making sure other programs were closed, etc. but nothing really seems to have much effect.  The same project will save or export just fine on one occasion, then if I so much as change a word in a title it will become unstable.  The entire project is 26 minutes long.  One video track (2) with titles, one main video track (1), one audio track (mostly empty) of ambient sound with the video, one sound track.
I will try Steve's suggestion of Ctrl-Alt-Shift for awhile on opening.  (This helps when PSE tools freeze up.)  Thanks for the tip!

  • 99 or 100% when it says Premiere Pro has stopped working and needs to close. What's going on?

I am using the premiere pro trial at the moment and have been trying to render a video for a solid week now. My computer is far more powerful then the recommended specs and yet it still takes 2 hours to attempt to export a 3 minute video (that isn't even heavily edited) and not only that but it will get to 99 or 100% when it says Premiere Pro has stopped working and needs to close. I have used earlier versions of the product before and never had such problems, even my 2 year old laptop could breeze exporting. What's going on?

Thanks, I'm a bit new to asking for help!
    Version : Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2)
    It is up to date
    I'm using Windows 8.1 build 9600
My sources are contained in .mov, .mp4 and .png. The codec I'm trying to use is H.264
After I set the project to export I got this error message every time it gets to either '99' or '100%' completed. "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
I have never had such a problem with the program which makes me think it might have something to do with a recent update.
No other notable software was running during the export.
I don't have any third-party effects or codecs installed.
I have 64 bit OS and processor, Intel i5 - 4670K quad core clocked at 3.40 GHz. 12 GB of RAM. And a GTX 770 with 2GB of video RAM.
Unless it was installed in the trial, I do not have the Mercury Playback Engine.
And finally, it can be noticeably choppy during the preview when it gets to the part I don't have rendered but is fine again for a bit if I replay those parts. A part from being a bit slower then usual, I didn't actually run into a major problem until I started exporting.
Thank you for the help! Any suggestions?

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 13 stops working trying to add media via videos from camera

When I try to add media selecting videos from camera or flip, Adobe Premiere Elements 13 stops working and closes. What might be the problem?

    elizabethmeow
On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you had the opportunity to update 13 to 13.1 using an opened projects Help Menu/Update?
What are the full properties of your source media and how are you importing them that you are trying to import into the project? A quick way to get that information, if you do not know that information, is for you to post the brand/model/settings for the camera that recorded the video.
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Element 13, and are you running the program as Administrator?
Lots of additional questions, but the answers to the above may give us the answer that you need to resolve you issue.
    Thank you.

  • During app load, Premiere elements 11 stopped working all of a sudden. Why?

Premiere elements 11 stopped working all of a sudden. Says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly" I re-installed it but still the same.
I haven't installed any other apps except adobe reader and there were a few Windows updates but that was it. Some history - I had defraged my hard drive when this started to happen. Wouldn't the re-install have fixed it if the de-frag caused this problem? What is causing elements to stop loading at the splash screen?

Thanks for the follow up with the very helpful information.
If this is one of those Importer QuickTime type issues, the answers are few if any.
If you have not already tried
Have you attempted to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary,
the whole 11.0 Folder in which it exists.
    then, please try the following...
My expectations for the following are not high, but worth the time -
1 uninstall the usual Control Panel way - you might want to uninstall QuickTime at the same time.
    2. free ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts)
    CCleaner - Download
    3. reinstall QuickTime and then Premiere Elements with anti-virus and firewall(s) disabled.
    Others on the list...
    1. Create a new User Account with Administrative Privileges and install and run Premiere Elements
    from there.
    2. Use a new set of installation files either from Adobe if you purchased the program from it as an online
download, or get tryout installation files for 11 into which you can insert your purchased serial number.
Photoshop Elements 11 Direct Download Links: Free Trials, Premiere | ProDesignTools
If the latter, read and carry out carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions in order to avoid an Access

Thank you John for your help
I have a AMD Radeon HD 7570 Driver Version 13.152.0.0
I had already been to their site and run AMD Driver AutoDetect without any luck
I have been  using Adobe Creative Cloud for the year since I first purchased this computer, and every programme except Premiere Pro is working OK.  I had a similar problem a few months ago after I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and I then uninstalled Premiere Pro,  and deleted the AMD Beta Drivers which I had installed from AMD Catalyst following a recommendation on the Forum, and when I reloaded Premiere Pro everything worked OK  without the Beta Drivers, .and although I still received messages Premiere Pro has stopped working some times, until yesterday I had always opened  Premiere Pro after a couple of tries.
I was going to uninstall Premiere Pro this morning, but  following your E Mail I went back to AMD and thought I would try downloading Beta Drivers from AMD Catalyst and  Premiere Pro opened first time of asking.

  • PRE 7 Error: Adobe Premiere Elements.exe stopped working

Today I started getting Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working and than the program closes. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I un-installed and re-installed it and still get the same thing.

Just as a possible additional clue. I have been editing a video of 1:40 hours length for the past 5 hours. PRE7 behaved well. Then, after saving my project, I tried to apply some colour filters (Auto Levels and Colour Balance HLS). PRE7 then crashed and is now unable to open the same project (which is 1.84 mb in size WITHOUT the filters saved in it) but can open an autosave version of 1.5mb in size. As that is 1.5 hours older, it is of little help to me, though.
(Note: this after I gave up and redid this video, after PRE8 totally crashed and PRE7 couldn't reopen this project file either.)
So there seems to be an error regarding the project file size and some weird "setting" that prevents PRE7 from opening that project.
(Note 2: I have now wasted so much time with this, that it is getting beyond just annoying. Adobe should fix this ASAP or provide all users a free copy of Premiere CS4 - if that is any better, that is. As no other video editor can import PREL files, one basically starts from scratch, which is even more annoying.
Note 2b: I have gone through all the suggestions made, am not running an Nvidia graphics card and am now at a loss as to what to do to successfully reopen this project file.)
    Helmar
PS: Attached in the case anyone cares, both PREL files. The large one that doesn't open, the old one that does. Happy bug hunting, Adobe! The licensing code for PRE CS4, please send to the email attached to my profile. Thank you!

  • Green pixels in clips cause 'premiere elements.exe stopped working error.'

I have a jvc everio camcorder - PAL. I have copied files from the camcorder to my computer. My computer is running Vista SP1 with 2Gb ram.
The files appear to import to PElements 4 however when playing or rendering the clips I get an error adobe premiere elements.exe has stopped working.
I have noticed that the clips have green pixels appear at the point where PE crashes.  All clips seem to have this problem.
I have followed the suggestions from the knowledge base re: updating codecs, disabling startup items, updating video driver.
I don't have the cyberlink software that came with the jvc. I bought premiere elements as I had read that it would be able to read the jvc files.
Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks for the redirect.  The solution to my problem was to follow this suggestion from that thread:
I was having the same JVC Everio/Elements 7 problem. I tried renaming the .mod extensions to .mpg and .avi, but still had the green artifacts. After an hour on the phone with Ronald, a VERY helpful Adobe Service Tech, I seem to have a solution that is working on my 5 edit stations here in my AV Lab.
Go to the Adobe Elements 7 folder in your "Program Files" folder and open the "Plug Ins" and "en_US" folders. Find a file called ImporterFastMPEG.prm and remove it. I moved it to the desktop until I test the software totally and make sure this doesn't cause other problems. If you are a brave, go ahead and delete it.
This is working for me, and avoids all that renaming - reprocessing the .mod files. So far, so good!

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Let us start with the video card/graphics card on this. Assuming Windows, what does the Device Manager/Display Adapters show for
video card/graphics card? How many cards? And, is the card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
(We may come back to this later and ask for a roll back of the driver version to determine if that makes any difference/)
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Are you using a pen and tablet device or mouse?
Did you install the program to the default location on the Local Disk C? If not, then consider, with save to Local Disk C default according
    to the following sequence
uninstall of the program using the usual Control Panel way
then..free ccleaner run through to get rid of leftovers from incomplete installs/reinstalls
    CCleaner - Download
and then reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Please review and consider, and then we can decide what next based on your results.
    Thank you.

  • Preview panel in Premiere Elements 10 stopped working

    Hi
The preview panel on Adobe Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working.
It was working fine until a couiple of weeks ago. I'd created a film and rendered it OK but after watching decided to do a little more editing.
When I opened up the project the preview panel was just grey/blank. I move the cursor over a piece of film and just got like a snap shot.
I can hear the soundtrack but no picture.
I have tried a few suggestions from various sources as follows.
I've updated the video/display drivers (directly from the manufacturers website)
I've updated Windows for all the latest updates.
I've updated all the video players and codecs I could find on my PC.
    I've updated Java.
I've done a cleanup and defrag but there is about 650 gb of freespace.
I've deleted the Bad Drivers file on a few occasions, this did give me a stuttering playback in the preview panel briefly but that has stopped again.
If I open a different window over the top of Premiere, part of that image stays in the preview panel when I close or minimise that window.
The video files I have been using have been mostly AVCHD files but these have worked fine for the last 18 months when I first installed this program.
I've tried converting files to AVI, MPEG, MPEG2, WMV etc but still nothing in the preview panel.
Totally stuck now, I've been trying to find a solution now for over a week and need to do some more editing.
I liked this program as an editor up until now but it maybe time to look for an alternative if I can't get a solution.
Kind regards and thanks in advance for any other suggestions
    Steve

That was good news that you have Premiere Elements 10 and Intel video card and not NVIDIA. To date, a certain display issue has been specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose computer uses a NVIDIA video card.
I think it best if you started your own thread on your display issue since your details can take us in an assortment of directions depending on the details.
We need to determine that your Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family display card driver is up to date.
That information might be obtained from the following Intel web site
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&Product Line=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Mobile+Intel%C2%AE+945GM+Express+Chipset+Famil y
    or
This information might be obtained from the HP web site.
    2. If you determine that your video card driver is up to date, then you can try deleting the Premiere Elements 10 BadDrivers.txt file. Once you have deleted it and opened a new project, the BadDrivers.txt file will be replaced with a new one. For that we would need to know what computer operating system your computer is running on so that we can give you the correct path to the BadDrivers.txt file.
It is important that at the onset you do a mini test run export to determine if what you are seeing as display problem in Edit is reflected in your export.
We will be watching for further developments. Details are important. If you have problems finding the details, we will help you with that.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 11 Stops Working When Deinterlacing Footage

I recently began working with Premiere Elements 11 recreationally at home after working with Pro at work. I recorded 1080i footage running at 59.94 and wanted to deinterlace the footage to 1080p 29.97. However, when I try this, the program goes through about 2% of the footage before completely shutting down and Windows popping up saying it has stopped working and must be restarted. I've done this process multiple times with multiple files of 1080i footage. Any solutions to this problem?

Since we have been talking about .mp4 and .avi files, I am not sure how this might have entered the situation, but....are .wmv files involved in any way when you report
however, it constantly crops the image so only half the video is the original video, the bottom half being black.
If that is the case, please check the following announcement at the top of this forum. This all involves 1/2 wmv display related to a recent Windows Update kb.
Announcement: Windows Update Causes Half of Display to Be Blacked Out
    Hide Details
MicroSoft has issued an Update for Windows, that is causing problems with Displays. The following is from Talbot McInnis, who tracked down this problem, and offers a fix:
"MS bulliten MS13-057.  Specifically, on XP kb2834904 and on windows 7 kb2803821 is causing a problem
For us, it occurs when decoding WMV9 files.  Not all uses of WMV decoding are affected, but I confirmed that when connecting the WMV decode DLL to a sample grabber for RGB32 video, the frames arrive black on top, so that points directly to decoding internals of the WMV Decode dll.
You can uninstall these windows updates to resolve your problem."
There are several threads on the problem that this Update is causing on the PrE and PrPro Forums, so one can get more details. So far, there is not another fix from either MS, or Adobe.

If the Windows Update kb is not the problem, I will post a screenshot of my MPEG Streamclip settings which were specific to "Export to MPEG-4.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Premiere CC"has stopped working error"

Ran an update on Adobe Premiere CC last night. Now this error occurs. I did a system restore to 1 hour before the update. Adobe worked fine this morning. After I closed the program and logged in tonight the "has stopped working error" displays. Also Adobe will not import and .MOV files and the .MOV files that are already on the timeline are no longer there. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I have just had the same thing happen to me too. Everything has been working fine but today, Premiere has crashed/stopped working twice. I have managed to get back into it now, but it won't playback either the Source or Program Monitors, saying there is a 'Low-level exception in Adobe Player (Player)'.
