Premiere Elements 10 - Menu Q

Premiere Elements 10 - Can I create a Menu with Scenes (using Scene Markers) then export the video to my PC, NOT to a DVD?
Whenever I try to do this, I can preview the resulting video with individual scenes just fine.  However, when I export the video to a computer, no matter what format I choose, the menu / scenes disappear.
The exported video seems to be untouched - video quality is fine and the video plays beginning to end, but no scene menu appears.
I really need the scene markers to work.  Suggestions welcome.
Mary

Steve,
Just after I had entered my question, I found your answer to this question which you had given to someone else last year.  Sorry for not searching first.
The video for which I wish to have scene headings is a training vid about 3 hours long, with close to 30 different topics throughout the video.  The only other solution I have thought of would be to export smaller sections of the video as separate standalone videos.  These would need to be small enough to fit into the single layer DVD format of the blank DVDs I have at home.
If I did this, could I use the scene marker technique to create scenes?
Also, when I'm creating a scene, do I need to insert a stop marker just ahead of a new scene marker every time?  I know the stop marker would return me to the scene menu.  Is there another way to get to the scene menu when I want to, without using up half of my precious 25 markers  as stop markers?
Thanks again for your support.
Best,
Mary

  • Premiere Elements freezing and closing after adding a Menu.

I have been making movies with Premiere Elements for awhile now.  Ever since I started, I have had the same problem.  It would hang, and eventually close on me.  I then got the new version, PE8 a while back.  Unfortunately, I still had the same problem.
I made an entire video having trouble with the freezing problem.  But I put up with it and saved every few minutes.  Now I get to the end and made the Menu pages.  When I almost finished it, it closes on me.  I keep trying to go back into it, with absolutely NO success!  I have been dealing with this for a long time, so I am well aware of needing to turning off the internet and virus software with the realtime scanning.  I also have been manually closing everything I can in my startup menu.
Every so often I restart to see if that helps, but no help.  So, I have been looking at the conversations here for a while recently and have tried what I think is everything.  I made sure I had the updated version of Elements 8.  I updated everything, all the important and optional updates.  Made sure my graphics card was up to date.  I don't use QuickTime, but I updated it anyway.  I ran Disc Cleanup and Defrag.  I did the MsConfig disabling bonjour, apple mobile, ITunes, Reader.  I had it boot without GUI.  I even disabled the Windows Indexing feature.
Even after all that, every time I open PE8, I gives me the warning message that it is running low on memory!  I don't know what else to do.  Please help.
Now I know you all want to know what the details of my system are, so here it is.

You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for video editing

  • Premiere Elements 12 Disk Menu

I placed a JPG photo in the background of the disk menu using the pan and zoom menu template. I adjusted the photo resolution to 1920 by 1080. The video is 1080p 29.97. It leaves a big black border around the photo and there is no way to make the photo bigger. I also tried the photo with a higher resolution with the same problem. The PC is Windows 8.1 -  64 bit. I also seem to get the same problem if I use 1080p video for the background. Any fixes besides getting a better program?

Premiere Elements 12/12.1 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Video or Still Background Replacement does not necessarily mean replacement of the whole background. It all depends on how the theme .psd background layer was created. Most of the time the background replacement is a partial one because of the design.
If you want to customize the disc menu in this regard, then you go into the background layer in the Layers Palette of the theme's psd file and edit it. The major psd editor for this purpose would be Photoshop CS or higher. However, if only a background replacement at the.psd level is required, the task might be completed successfully using Photoshop Elements Editor.
Please take a look at one of my blog posts for the how to details for such a task.

Also you may have to do some resizing of the scene selection page thumbnails to get rid of any black borders around them.
Please review and consider and then we can discuss this further if interested and need clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe premiere elements 12 - how to create menu bar action for my inserted image button

adobe premiere elements 12 - how to create menu bar action for my inserted image button without using their movie menu theme

    forbemag
I do not think that I am completely focused into this completely, so let us see if the following is going to help.
You are going to need a base for your button. When you mention "image" button, I am assuming that you are using that term to differentiate between a text button and a thumbnail type button.
The menus (main and scene) take their origin in .psd files on the hard drive and strict nomenclature and structure for Layers Palatte. And, the buttons on the menus trace back to the menu markers on the Timeline, main menu marker and order of placement of scene markers. The scene thumbnail will only appear when there is a scene marker on the Timeline to which it.
    In view of all that
Where have you already inserted this "image (button)"...into the Layers Palette of a Photoshop document or other? Is this "image (button)" in a structured Layer Group in the Layers Palette with sublayer groups, text layers, graphic/background layer"?
Let me give you an example
If you have a button (with thumbnail) on the main menu and you want that to open to a specific scene in your movie, then you use a main menu marker on the Timeline at the spot that you want that button to target.
If I am getting closer to what you seek, then please further clarify the DVD navigational envisioned scheme.
    Thanks.

How do i drag media to the menu screens in premiere elements 13? I can't see my audio files and the menu screens at the same time. In prior versions it was easy?
It is very cumbersome to "re browse" for audio files/pics/movie clips to add to menu screens. Certainly there is a way to view the media and menu screen at the same time so I can drag and drop?

    Jayhawk
I think I know exactly what you are seeking and believe it cannot be done in Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 as it can be done in versions earlier than 11 where the Disc Layout and Project Media are viewed side by side.
Premiere Elements 13 uses a Movie Menu customization workspace which is not allowing viewing of Project Assets in the Expert workspace at the same time.

    Just a few extra questions
    1. Does your computer use any of the Windows High Contrast Themes?
    2. What is your computer's video card/graphics card? Is it up to date according to the web site of the
manufacturer of the card? Do you have 1 or 2 cards?
    3. What is the native resolution of your computer's monitor and is the display set at that? Are you running a dual
monitor system? Are you on a business or school network?
    4. Under Control Panel/Appearance and Personalization Display
    What are the sets for
"Change the size of all items" - gives a scale of small to large
    and
"Change only the text size" - gives a place to select where the text is, like Menus, a place for font size, and a check off
    place for Bold.
Please consider, and then let us know if any of the above has any impact on your lack of program menus.
    Thanks.

  • Bad quality movie menu in Premiere Elements 12

    Hi everybody,
I have a serious problem... when I create a movie menu and then I click on preview, its quality is really bad, images and text as well! I tried to burn the DVD to see if it was just a preview problem but it's still the same. I've also installed the software on another PC but nothing changed. How can I solve it?
Please help me! Thank you very much in advance!

    Do not give up.
Just to verify....where is the burn to process stopping....
    Encoding menus 1 of....
    Encoding media
    Compiling media
    Burning
Go back to the Timeline content...
    a. Make sure that none of the Timeline markers are too close to one another. If you have a stop marker at the end of
the last item on the Timeline, remove it. It is not needed and causes burn to issues.
Go back to the Movie Menu customization area and inspect the buttons on the main menu and scene menu pages.
    a. Make sure that area of one button is not overlapping with the area of another. If overlapping of buttons exists, you
will see red frames around the buttons involved.
Go back to the Timeline content again...this time
    a. press the End Key of the computer main keyboard....does the Timeline Indicator move to the end of the last item
on the Timeline or beyond? If it goes beyond, expand the Timeline with the zoom in  and zoom out slider, and inspect
for leftover fragments or clips, and delete them.
To double check what is might be going on....
    a. burn to disc without the disc menu
    b. do a burn to folder rather than a burn to disc
Also, in the Expert workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks and the Disc Encoding category. What is shown for the Disc Encoding save location and how much free hard drive space is at that location?
Please review and consider and then we can decide what next.

    Hi Mr Romano
You want to know why I wouldn't go near adobe again?
    So this is what happened.
After paying for prem elements 10 and spending a week trying via adobe's tech support, you and the forums to find a solution for their program crashing, their only solution was buy a new version and we dont support programmes that are 2 yrs old.
It took them 3 days to get back to me to tell me that they would award me 20% discount from the cost of an upgrade.
When I finally got through to sales, the saleman told me that his system doesnt support at 20% discount but only a 15% discount. It took him 45 mintues to get an ok to give 20%. Then he discovered that I am no longer domicile in NY so he cant help me. Sent me to the UK support line to start the entire process again.
After 3 days and hours on hold with UK support/sales, they told me that cant transfer the 20% discount because that was given by the US customer services and that they need some time to get authorisation.
Two days later they got back to me and said they can give me the 20% discount from an inflated prices of 160%! ie instead of 20% of $79.99, now they can give me 20% off £79.99! I explained that this was unfair, they asked for another 48 hrs to escalate, still waiting for them to come back to me.
So I just called the USA support gave them an america cc and they finally agreed after 30 minutes with a friendly girl who could actually speak English with an intelligible accent that I could get prem elements 12 for  20% off $79.99.
    Great? Well not really.
The stupid girl charged me $70 for premiere photoshop 12! I only discovered she had sent me the wrong serial number once the email arrived.
I called her back, she apologized and opologized and then took a further $70 promising to refund me the first $70 and explained that she could only refund me after she charged me for the correct license.
Once she charged me for the second time, she said, just in order to make sure you get your money back, pls hold I need to transfer you to refunds! Oy no!! Another 30 mins on hold.
So when I finally got through to some guy who spoke English with such a heavy Indian accent that he could of been offering me dinner for two, he promised to escalate my case and that someone with a heavier Indian accent would call me back within the next five days in order to give me a refund.
So, NO, I wont be buying from this pathetic company again.
I appreciate your help and support on this matter and realise you are not to blame for adobe's clear lack of support or the slightest regard for its clients time or money.

  • Moving menu template from premiere elements 4 to premiere elements 9

Last year I upgraded from premiere elements 4 to 9.  I could not find a generic menu template in premiere elements 9 so I moved one from the program files of premiere elements 4 to the program files of premiere elements 9.  This seemed to work okay except that the background art that I used for the main menu does not show up on the burned DVD even though it is there when viewing the project.  I'm using a PC with Windows 7.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Several of the menu templates for PRE9 had problems, such as custom backgrounds ignored. A. T. Romano did a lot of work on investigating these issues.
    For example:
Premiere Elements 9 Disc Menu (main/scene)
    PE9 Menu background
It seems likely that whatever caused the faults in PRE9 is also tripping up with your PRE4 template. Others have reported that the problems were fixed in PRE10.

  • Cannot find Gymnastics menu templates in Premiere Elements 7

I am looking for a Gymnastics menu for Premiere Elements 7.
    CraginJohn

    Welcome to the forum.
If there is nothing in the included Templates, then I can only recommend that you look on Muvipix.com, as they have many additional, custom Menu Sets, though I do not recall a gymnastics set - but have never needed one. If you find what you do need there, there are two ways to get it - pay for the Menu Sets that you need, or subscribe to Muvipix.com, and then download everything, including the music, Menu Sets, etc., from that subscription.
Good luck, and hope that you find what you are looking for.
    Hunt
PS - I would also post to the Premiere Elements Forum (Community) at Muvipix.com, as many subscribers there know of additional sources, and also do a lot of school sports themed DVD/BD projects, and might have other resources for you.

  • Menu Creations in Premiere Elements 7

Why can't I add a menu template? I followed the steps correctly and I still can't add a menu, what's wrong?

    Andy Herrman
Just a few thoughts before you decide to contact Adobe T/SAt this point, I also cannot judge if you have a serious problem with Premiere Elements 7 or if you are misunderstanding how to apply a DVD Menu to your project.
Does Import Media = you have used Get Media to bring media into the Project View/Media and have dragged it from there to the Timeline, applied some scene markers there, then hit Disc Menus OR have you just left the media in Project View/Media, nothing to the Timeline, and then hit Disc Menus? However, whether or not any thing is on the Timeline, you should still be getting a DVD Menu in the Disc Menus Monitor after you select a Menu and hit Apply.
    Clicked on Disc Menu
    Chose a MenuHit Apply
I was going to ask if you highlighted (blue rectangle) the Menu of choice, but, since you said that you clicked on Apply, I am further assuming that you did highlight the choice and therefore had an active (not grayed out) Apply Button.
After you hit Apply, did you get any message or dialogs, like:
    Missing Menu Marker Dialog
    Automatically Set Menu Scene Markers
At this point, in the bin below the Disc Menus Monitor, you should see a Main Menu and a Scene Menu. Which ever one of those is selected in the bin will be the one that is showing in the Monitor. So, when you say No menu would appear, are you saying that there were no menu images in the Monitor and/or the bin?
By any chance, are you looking for the DVD Menu to appear on the Timeline? You are never going to see the Main Menu or the Scene Menu on the Timeline of the program. You can edit the menu in the Disc Menus Monitor and check its button workings in the Monitor by pressing Preview.
Again, please excuse if I have asked inappropriate questions, but I was not sure what was happening or not happening in your situation.

On loading Premiere Elements 9 it won't move on from the disc menu screen. Have downloaded the patch which sorted the problem for a time, but have locked up again.

Which "disc menu screen" are you talking about?
Are you talking about the installation menu screen that comes on when you first put the installation disc in your computer's disc drive?
What operating system are you working on? If Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Updates, set the option to download Microsoft Updates and downloaded all of the available updates, including the ones that don't download automatically?

With versions earlier than 11, there is no more Sign In. If you get any message to that effect, ignore and cancel out of them. You should be able to move forward to your import, editing, and exports using the program nonetheless.
As for the disc menus, those marked photoshop.com plus members only are no longer available to you in versions of Premiere Elements earlier than 11. You may see the thumbnails for those members only items, but they are no longer available to you in Premiere Elements earlier than 10.
Interestingly, many of them are found in Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 as part of the program with no need to purchase them or have any special membership in anything. Adobe has promoted Adobe Revel as a replacement for photoshop.com, but that has no impact on this disc menus issue.
This all has to do with Adobe discontinuing photoshop.com and photoshop.com plus et al.

    Windows 7 64-bit
    Dell Inspiron 660
    8 GB RAM
1 TB hard drive, 700 GB available after install
All menu items are greyed out except for File | New, Open, Exit and some Help menu items. Will create a project but then does nothing. Reopening the empty project results in Elements/Pro compatibility message. Unusable.

Thank you ATR. I followed your sequence of checks. RESOLVED BY DISABLING PORTION OF AV FUNCTIONS BEFORE LAUNCHING APPLICATION.  Here are the steps.
I had not even tried Premiere Elements Organizer. When I did, it appeared to run fine and actually the AutoAnalyzer Options only appear under its Preferences menu, I later found out. Those options were then disabled with no change to the issue.
I removed and reinstalled the program with an internet connection and McAfee firewall and AV off. And then ran the program with an internet connection.  No change.
I deleted the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file first, and then the whole 8.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. No change.
The program was installed in the default c: drive location so no change there.
The problem went away with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled!. I narrowed it down to what McAfee calls "Real-Time Scanning" under "Virus and Spyware Protection." The level of control McAfee LiveSafe-Internet Security affords under "Real-Time Scanning" is not very detailed. The setting that makes the difference is under "Scan These Files" is "Programs and documents only" instead of the default "All files (Recommended)."
Now going back upstream, I enabled the firewall fully. Firewall makes no difference if I shut it off globally or allow individual program exceptions...it still runs fine. I also enabled all the AutoAnalyzer Options and program still runs fine. Perhaps this is a rabbit trail for non-resource-limited systems.
Hopefully this helps others with the same problem.

  • Dvd Menu Adobe Premiere Elements 10 for Mac with bad resolution

    Hi, I use a MacBookPro with Mac OS X 10.6.8 - Intel Core i5 2,4 GH - RAM 4 GB.
I just purchased PRE 10 version hoping to solve a problem I had with version 9 for Mac but not with a version 7 for Win.
    I
My problem is that when I burn the dvd with the final work in PAL system, the menu of the DVD has the text very blurred at a very bad resolution.
I searched this forum and I didn't found a similar problem for Mac user.
I had the same problem with PRE 9.
Same problem if I insert a logo in the corner of the video. Very bad resolution image in the final dvd.
I tried to change the beginning resolution of the image from very low to very high and the result was the same.
Someone has similar problems? Someone did find a way to solve it?

Dear Bill, many thanks for your answer.
This is the Project Preset chosen.
As the source is a JVC Everio with hard disk, I chose PAL - Hard Disk - Widescreen 48 KHz
The source is as I said a JVC Everio in SD size. I saved the files in a backup Hard Disk. They are .mod files.
I don't know how to see if a Menu Sets is HD or SD. I tried almost all the available Menu Sets always with the same blurry results.
These images explain better than words.
Note that the firt image in the DVD Menu is perfect, not blurry. And this add a little bit of mystery :-)
this is the scene selection that has text blurry
And this is the logo I put in the right bottom side of the video. It is blurry. I put a high resolution image and it was blurry. Then I tried with an image .png with the same width of the video (720 pixels) and this is the same blurry effect:
The solution I use in these days to have goog results is very time expensive.
I make the editing work in my mac, without logo and menu. I make a dvd. Then I import the VIDEO_TS folder in my old pc, with my old version of Adobe Premiere 7.0. I insert the logo, I make the menu and then I make a dvd with my old PC and the resolution is the one I want.
Obviolusly I'd like to do all the work in my Mac...
The same problems and solution I used also with PRE 9.0
By the way, I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements in my Mac instead  iMovie because I need to do videos longer than 2 hours. And iMovie has this limit.
Many thanks in advance for help. There is someone that is using Mac and PRE 10 with GOOD results?
