Premiere Elements 11 no longer recognizes my external blu-ray burner.

I have used my Samsung SE-506BB-TSBD external burner many times before today, but for some reason Premiere Elements 11 is not recognizing it. Windows 7 sees it just fine. Premiere Elements 8 (which is still loaded on the same computer) also does not recognize it.
What do I need to do? Samsung's website is no help, but I have a feeling it's an Adobe issue since Windows 7 still recognizes the drive.

When is your Blu-ray burner not recognized
Premiere Elements 11: burn to DVD disc, burn to Blu-ray disc, burn to AVCHD on DVD disc, or all?
Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1: burn to DVD disc, burn to Blu-ray disc, or both?
and when you wrote:
I have used my Samsung SE-506BB-TSBD external burner many times before today
Did "....many times before today" imply that you could use the burner for Premiere Elements 11 and 8.0/8.0.1 before. I am trying to get a whether this is a "it worked before but now" or a "it never worked before" type issue.
Do you have the USB 2.0 cable connected to a USB 2.0 computer port directly or via a USB multi port hub? I take it that this burner does not have AC support? If you are using only 1 USB 2.0 port, can you set up the burner for 2 USB 2.0 ports?
Does the computer involved have an internal burner? Or is this the only burner that you have available to you external or internal for the computer?
Let us start here and then decide what avenues of further troubleshooting are available to us.
Thanks.

Add On...Just updated the Phantom Burner 2.0 link in the blog post and added this footnote.
**UPDATE January 8, 2015. The original link to the Phantom Burner 2.0 used when this blog was written is no longer working to obtain the Phantom Burner 2.0 and has been replaced this day with a link that is working to obtain the Phantom Burner 2.0 tryout download (phantomburner_setup.exe). This new link seems to be working to obtain the "Phantom Burner 2.0", but the Learn More and Purchase buttons for this choice do not work. Interestingly, the old and new links are from the same web site, just different pages of the web site. At this time, it is not known if this reflects problem with the PHANTOMbility.com web site or something else.

  • Will Adobe Encore CS4 burn MTS files to an external blue ray burner if I buy one?

Will Adobe Encore CS4 recognize/burn MTS files to an EXTERNAL blue ray burner if I buy one?

Internal vs external should not matter.
I have a burned to external with CS4, but it was a long time ago.
And most importantly, Encore is not a reliable burner for many users, and they, and I, use imgBurn rather than Encore to burn.
Also, "burn an MTS" file is totally different from authoring and burning. Encore (was it by CS4?) added a limited AVCHD passthrough option. I have not used it.

  • I have burned to my external blu ray burner 3 times, but twice ended up with glitches in the project. now it stops at 59% and won't finish sharing. How do I get it to finish sharing?

I have burned to my external blu ray burner 3 times, but twice ended up with glitches in the project. now it stops at 59% and won't finish sharing. How do I get it to finish sharing?

It's a complex project and there are a lot of possibilities. Among them is the length; there are a number of reports of projects that are approaching 2 hours failing to burn.
If it's a question of jarring Create Disk into action, one thing that has worked for some users is simply to click on and the Apply button (s) in the Settings pane of the Blu Ray Share window and then hitting Cancel. This can be tested by duplicating your project and selecting a tiny section of your sequence and exporting. Change the Output Device to Hard Drive and see whether Create Disk successfully writes a disk image.
You can also  check that a specific clip isn't rendering properly. Since the process got to 59%, it may just mean that the burn couldn't be initiated by Create Disk – or it may indicate a problem with a clip toward end of your sequence. (If you can check the log, there may be something useful in there.)
Use the duplicated project and this time set a range for the last 30 minutes or so of the project and export it, using the Blu Ray destination. Again, set Output Device to HD and see whether it will complete.
    Good luck.

  • After I compress HD Video to H.264 how do I burn to an external Blu Ray Burner?

How do I burn to Blu Ray after I've compressed to H.264?  Can I go through DVD Studio?

This is what the DVD SP 4 manual says re: H.264 files:
"You can use the H.264 video format, also known as MPEG-4 part 10 and the Advanced Video Codec (AVC), in your HD projects. The H.264 encoder is twice as efficient as the standard MPEG-2 encoder. When compared to encoding with MPEG-2, this means that with the H.264 encoder:... You must use H.264 for HD DVD presets in Compressor to encode H.264 video assets for native use in DVD Studio Pro HD project."
However, i cannot get DVD SP 4 to recognize the .264 encoded files using these presets (Format h.264 for Blu-ray; 1080p @ 29.97fps; NTSC; AVCHD stream).  Compressor produces a .264 video format file that DVD SP rejects.  Do I have to use the h.264 for Apple Devices format (m4v) instead (which also is supposed to support Chapter Markers created in FCPX)?

  • Why doesn't my Macbook Pro recognize my external blu ray drive?

I bought the drive and the macbook brand new earlier this year.  It is a Pioneer BDR-XD05W.  Usually I have to plug and unplug at least two times before the computer recognizes a connection.  Restarting doesnt really seem to have any effect on frequency.  Trying to think of more information to add...but I really just want to know why the macbook doesnt recognize this accessory correctly.

Have you downloaded and installed the BDR-XD05W Drive Utility for Mac OS -

  • Premiere elements 11 does not recognize blu ray burner

Purchased Pawtec external blu ray burner. Premiere elements 11 recognizes it as a dvd burner but not a blu ray burner. How can I fix this?

    Long160
There is no burn to folder for Blu-ray in Premiere Elements (any version), so we cannot use that escape route. What has been used in the past as a workaround for this "no burn to folder for Blu-ray" is creating a Blu-ray disc image with Premiere Elements in conjunction with a virtual Blu-ray burner with a virtual BD-RE disc. I have written about that in the following blog post
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/11/pe12-disc-imagephantom-burner-pe.html
But, as for the Pawtec external Blu-ray burner being recognized in the Premiere Elements 11 burner location in burn to Blu-ray,
    a. you may just have an external Blu-ray burner that is not compatible with Premiere Elements
    b. you could try for a Premiere Elements 11 uninstall/reinstall going the route of Deactivation with in the program (Help Menu/Deactivate), uninstall via regular Control Panel route, ccleaner run through (https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), reinstall.
Have you tried another USB port? Does the Blu-ray burner require one or two USB connections to have enough power for functioning?
Also, do you have all you operating system updates?
    More later.

  • Using an external Blue Ray Disc Drive/Burner with an imac?  Can I?  Brand?

I have a blue ray player in the living room and I'm just starting to research burning blue ray discs using the imac.
I have an intel based imac, 2.8ghs intel core 2 duo, 4gb sdram, 1tb hard drive.
Should I be able to safely use an external blue ray burner?
If so, recommendations as to a product?

there is no official support for blue ray drives in leopard. Steve jobs said blue ray is "a bag of hurt" referring to the licensing issues for blue ray.
As a result there is no recommended drives as they are not officially supported.
I can't recommend either as I don't use Blue ray yet.
A quick google brought up this
    http://www.tuaw.com/2007/01/25/blu-ray-arrives-for-the-mac-wheres-hd-dvd/
Judging by your list of gadgets below your post, it won't be much good as it is for the Mac Pro
All I can say is that Snow Leopard may bring better support for Blue Ray, all you can do is hope!

  • Buffalo MediaStation External Blu-ray Burners?

    Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience using a Buffalo MediaStation External Blu-ray burner with their mac?
    Cheers,
    James

Yeah, I already read this one.
The review is good, which is the main thing that prompted me to consider this drive, but I always like to get some feedback from average users about little issues that often crop up in the real world.
Unfortunately the forum conversation that follows this particular review is less about the drive itself and more about other issues. No one said, "I have this drive and use it with a mac and I think it's . . . "

  • Bought an external blue ray player/burner

would like to know how to get a movie to play with an external blue ray/burner on a hp mini 210

Install Cyberlink's Power DVD 10 (it's free for HP owners) _ save the file to the desk top and install it from there, not from a temporary folder.
Make sure and have your external drive plugged in before you install Power DVD10.
     ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58764.exe
Restart after the installation and do not unplug the external drive.
For the first time use the eject button on the drive and let the movie load automatically (give it some time) with out opening Power DVD10.

  • Recommendations on a Blu Ray Burner

Can anybody recommend a reliable external blu-ray burner that I can use on my iMac? I'm using FCE 4 and Toast 10 to burn HD DVDs and am happy with the quality, but would like to put more than 20 minutes of HD on a disc. Thanks!

Toast is a software package from Roxio that allows you to burn HD recordings. There's a few others available but it seems to be the most popular. You can do up to 20 minutes of HD on a standard DVD using a standard DVD burner, but to go longer (up to 2 hours on a dual layer disc) you will need a Blu Ray burner. And of course to view either HD DVD or blu-ray, you'll need a blu ray player. HD DVDs will not play on a standard DVD player.
I posted essentially the same question that you did QDigital, and Michal Boissonneault posted a most helpful reply with links to step-by-step instructions.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2189960
I got Toast Titanium Pro 10, which includes the blu-ray add in. You have to pay extra on the standard version for the add in, but it's required to burn HD.
Within a week or two of using Toast, I was in the market for a blu-ray burner...$300 USD for the burner, 10-15 for each disc.

  • Final Cut Pro X witch Blu-ray Burner are you using ...

Using a Mac Pro Tower like the Mac Pro 2012 or similar what are the Blu-ray Internal Burners do you use ; LG or Pioneer , witch Model Number.
Creating Blu-ray on the Mac is fantastic but witch brand and model numbers for the Big Mac Pro Tower are you using with exellent results now.
On the Mac Apple Pro Apps or Roxio Toast Titanium are the only left options who are current and updated , but burners specified for Windows.
Frustration come when you talk to Apple they say not supported , Burners makers LG or Pioneer will say we dont offer support on the Mac.
Well if you can create Blu-ray on the Mac but cant get any help to burn it it is very frustrating and Not So Pro if Apple care for the Pro Users.

I use the new Mac Pro 2013. Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.4 and Maverick OS 10.9.5. An external Blu-ray burner LG BE14NU40. I've use single burn Blu-ray discs from brands like Maxell and Verbatim. That works fine. I have double layers Blu-ray discs not tried. I use it for home video’s.
DVD single works fine too. DVD double layers I have not tried but will also work i think. Reviews on LG USA stated that Roxio Titanium with corresponding plugin works.
I'm glad I found a blu-ray burner that works with FCPX.  Compressor 4.1.3 but I have not been working with the LG burner. Not yet!
