Premiere Elements 11 Will not open

I had this same problem with paid version of Premiere Elements 10 for over a year and it never got fixed. Yesterday 2/20/13, the new Premiere Elements 11 Trial was downloaded with the help of a senior Adobe tech, along with Photoshop Elements 11 and CS-6. Both of those work but Premiere still will not start. It shows the opeing splash screen, then gets the familaer Windows notice, "Adobe Premire Elements 11 has stopped working" This is the very same notice I got for a year with version 10, which also never started. When will someone tellme what is going on and how to fix this problem? My 'trial' period ends long before the app ever even runs! HELP!

I answered these by email, I guess it does not work!!
One common cause of PrE (and PrPro too) hanging/crashing on launch is an obsolete video driver. That is the first thing that I would investigate, to get that off the table early on.
What is the make and model of your video card? NVIDIA GeFORCE 7600 GO
What is the number and date of the installed driver? 7.15.10.9804
Is that the latest version from nVidia, or AMD/ATI? YES -2007- No updates since!
If not, download and install the latest from the mfgr's. Web site. That is where I got it! It is the same as the original.
What operating systems are you using? If it's Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Update and downloaded the non-critical updates that don't download automatically? When did you last run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter? Do you have at least 100 gigs of free space on your C or main drive?
Win7 Ultimate (64bit)
4GB RAM (3 usable) :-/
C Drive has 425GB Free
Storage and scratch disks all external- about 1TB available
Disk Cleanup is run weekly- Done yesterday- Same with Defrag. All disks report 0% defrag-
All needed Windows updates are installed- Critical and optional, other than language packs. Updates checked daily.
You'll need to consider other software on your computer also. The antivirus program you're running, for instance, or if you're running ANY program with the word Norton in its name.
Anything named NORTON or SYMANTEC has been deleted, burned, shredded and the drive it was on smashed, just to be sure. Have not used a Symantec app in 5 years or more! A/V is Microsoft Security Essentials. Spybot run weekly, but is not TSR.
None of this discusses why it ran perfectly on Vista- Also why Cyberlink Power Director 10 has no issues at all!
Please note the spot (screenshot) where it crashes. Could this file it is loading be the problem? It crashes in the same spot every time!
and again...
Why did APE-10 work on Vista but not W7? Why is that a driver problem?
Why does PSE- 10 & 11, CS-6, Lightroom4, and every other Adobe app work just fine?
Why do Cyberlink Power Director 9 &10 work perfectly?
Curiouser and curiouser...
BTW: I have adressed this issue (APE-10) on this forum ongoing for about a year now. I have tried every fix that you gentlemen have offered, to no avail. I have read all the threads provided and used anything pertinent. I had hoped that APE-11 would have resolved the issues I had with APE-10 (like I paid for it, and in NEVER ran on W7) I have sent Belarc reports, logs, error reports, nada, nix, niet, zilch!

I have been using Premiere Elements 11 for some time. It has been working fine. Recently, it won't open. There is a message which says to uninstall and reinstall he product. I have done that. No help. The message says to contact Adobe support and mention Error:1 Can you help?

Here is an Premiere Elements 12 Error 1 story with a happy ending. Please check it out and see if any of it works for you with your Premiere Elements 11 problem. At this point, I do not think that product licensing has anything to do with your issue, but time will tell.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6124261#6124261
In the above link the user sought alternative installation files and that worked to resolve the issue as described in the link.
If you were to follow that approach, you could download Premiere Elements 11 tryout files from the following link and then insert your purchased Premiere Elements 11 serial number in it.
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
The above web site offers the tryouts of some earlier versions but does not sell them.
For this to work for you, you must read very carefully the Note: Very Important Instructions at that web site. Otherwise you will be greeted by Access Denied.
Please consider and then let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

Add On...I forgot to ask. Are you working from installation files purchased from Adobe or from a purchased installation disc that came with boxed packaging of the product? If the former, you could always get another download of the product at "My Orders" or "My Products" at Adobe.

  • Adobe Premiere CS3 will not open!

Adobe premiere CS3 will not open.  When I click on the Adobe icon on my desktop, I get this message:  This application has failed to start because prm.dll was not found.  I've tried several things such as:  uninstalling the program then reinstalliing it.  I tried to open Adobe by clicking on one of my projects by opening MY Computer from start on the taskbar, then click on c drive, etc. but it will not open.  Before I started getting the error message stated above, when I clicked on the icon, the program would load to the point of showing the top portion of the page (file, edit, etc.) then stop.  It would never fully load.  HELP!!!!!   I'm in the middle of trying to meet several deadlines.

First, search your system for every instance of prm.dll. See if you have one (could be corrupt, but a Repair Install should have repaired it) in your PrPro CS3 folder hierarchy. Do you have any more? How do the dates and sizes compare to the one, if there is one, in PrPro? Here is a LINK to a .dll site. I do not know this site, so cannot even comment on their .dll's. I'd do the first suggestion, well - first.
Also, I do not know this .dll. It could be a VST from an Audio editing program, or similar. Some of these have been known to bring PrPro to its knees, at launch. Might be worthwhile to check into it a bit more.
Also, take a look at Event Viewer. This ARTICLE will give you some tips on what to look for. Could be more happening, than the error message might lead one to believe.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements does not open after installation

    Hello,
I have written before last week. I have bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11.
I had a trial version of Photoshop Elements 11 and with the code I could access the full version.
However Premiere Elements did not open after installation. I did not had a trial version so I first downloaded the full program. I went through the whole installation process and everything seemed ok, no error messages. But when I tried to open Adobe Premiere Elements after restarting the computer it did not open at all. Nothing happened.
I have de-installed and re-installed the program for a couple of times over and over again but with not result. Also tried to download the trial version first and also this didn't work. I checked my Quicktime and updated to the latest version.
I use a Windows laptop: Asus Intel Core i5-2430M, 2,4 GHz
I hope you can help me out!
    Thanks!
    Inge

Make sure your user account has full administrative permissions.  Then, at this stage of the game, I would take the following steps:
    - Re-create the Preferences file following these instructions:
Re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
Note: When you use this solution, Photoshop Elements will create a new preferences file and you will lose custom settings associated with your current preferences file. However, the file you rename in step 2 is your original preferences file. If you determine that the preferences file is not causing the problem, then you can restore your custom settings by undoing the instructions below.
To re-create the Photoshop Elements preferences file:
    Quit Photoshop Elements.
Locate the Adobe Photoshop Elements preferences files. In Photoshop Elements 5.0, there are two preferences files, one for Organizer and one for Editor:
    Users\[ user ]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Organizer\psa.prf
    Users\[ user ]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\Editor\Photoshop Elements 5 Prefs.psp
Rename the extension for the files (for example, to psa.old).
Start Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements creates a new preferences file.
I doubt that this will fix your problem, however, it is always the first thing to try.  If it does not, take these steps:
    - Uninstall Photoshop Elements
    - Run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301)
    - Reinstall Elements
    - Reinstall the 5.0.2 patch
    Good luck,
    Juergen

My Premiere Pro file crashed during closing and now PP will not open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and it still doesn't work. I get the same message on another computer too.
Thank you! I will miss a deadline if I can't get this to work!

  • Photoshop elements will not open

My photoshop elements 10 and my phoposhop CS3 will not open at all they go to a black screen.Three days ago it opened. before that it had not opened for several days. Before the problem with it not opening, it would not load photos to edit them. I have tryed to look at the compatability, etc.
I am afraid to delete and reinstall. When I look in my photos I do not see the photos that I have edited. HELP

Start PSE to get to the Welcome screen.
Hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys and click Organizer. Keep holding down the keys until you see the Catalog window.
Select your catalog and click Repair.  Select “repair anyway” even if PSE doesn’t find problems.
Then for good measure, click Optimize.
If repairing resolves your issue then fine else repeat the above steps, but click New to create a new catalog.  If you’re able to import photos into the new catalog and the Organizer works fine, then problem can be old catalog.
Check for Task Manager and end the "ElementsAutoAnalyzer.exe" file and then try.
    - Try launching Organizer directly from the exe with Admin rights.
Some more solutions once you try these are here http://forums.adobe.com/message/4994459#4994459

  • Premiere project will not open

The night before, I went to save my project in Premiere but was taking to long to finish saving. I went to be and when I woke up it had crashed while it was still saving and was no longer responding. I had to close off Premiere, but now it will not open. I think the project file is too big. While most other Premiere projects I have range from around 1-500 Mb, this file is 6.6 Gb. Is there something I can delete outside of the unopenable project that will reduce the size of this file? What can I do to get this project back up and running as soon as possible.
-I'm working off of a Mac with 8 Gb memory and a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor.

The Auto-save files also crash the same way the main project file crashes. I get a serious error message that I can't read fully because it disappears as soon as it pops up. Attempting to import the project with a new project also crashes Premiere and gives me the same serious error message.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
    And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Have you viewed the tutorial links at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1275830 page?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
    Added after Hunt's reminder
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Premiere Elements will not run - HELP

This is infuriating as I had the same problem with PE 8.  I have installed the trial version of PE10 and when I run the application I get the "Welcome to" screen but when I click on either start new project or open project in seems to go through lots of start up loads, then - nothing.  The last thing it does is say "loading Importerquicktime.prm" then it dies leaving the "welcome to" screen.  What is wrong please.  I had loads of issues with PE 8.  It is not looking good for this latest version.

Buy and install a 2nd internal hard drive for all of your video files and projects... 7200rpm and not a "green" drive
Or, use an eSata external hard drive... again, 7200rpm
My 3 hard drives are configured as...
    1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320Gig data for Win7 swap file and video project files
When I create a project on #2 drive, the various work files follow,
so my boot drive is not used for the media cache folder and files
3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input & output files (*)
(*) for 4 drives, drive 3 all source files & drive 4 all output files
Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows swap file

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used the eSata Dock below... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Premiere CC will not open 5.5 projects. Why?

I have puechased CC and can not open 5.5 projects. Why? Why do you offer chat when no one ever answers? Why do you spend so much time and money to avoid at all cost actually helping your customers?

It had nothing to do with it. The only thing that worked was building the C drive all over again. I whiped it clean. Then we tried to close caption, something we just got working before this happened and now of course it does not work well. We get skip frames all over the place. All the settings that fixed problems before do not seem to work. I guess this discussion was about opening a 5.5 project so I will post my problems with BMD and close captioning in a new post ( ok why did adobe call this version CC, did they not know that was the industry short form for close captioning, duh)
Claims that Pemiere CC and 5.5 cans exist on the same computer are false. Claims that Premiere CC does not need a Clean install of windows are false.
My proof, three completely different systems, System A: works but i have no avi export, System B: works but i have no avi export, System C: The system discussed above, needed to be wiped to work.
3 of 3 of these systems had previous versions of Premiere on them before Creative Cloud was installed. All 3 sytems also got that very annoying "bugs and patches update could not install" thing from the Creative cloud download ap. Why adobe can not provide a manual download for those suffing from this affliction is beyond me. To cheap i guess.

  • Display driver problem - Premiere Elements will not start

Premiere Elements 10 will not run on my computer unless I downgrade to an old display driver. I would do this but it causes other problems.
I am using the most recent driver from NVidia (but a pretty old display card).  I get this message: "We have detected an incompatible display driver... driver details: NVidia Geforce GTS 250/pCIe/SSE2 3.0.0"
    On Windows 7
    Can anybody help with this?

Have you manually gone to the nVidia web site and downloaded the latest driver?
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
This fixes about 95% of these types of issues.
Also, you definitely do have a BadDriver.txt file on your computer. And you may need to delete it to clear this error.

One common cause of PrE hanging on launch is the video driver. While not the only possible cause, I would check this out first.
What OS and version are you running?
What video card do you have, both make and model?
What is the date and version of your installed video driver?
If you go to the mfgr's. Web site, say nVidia, or AMD/ATI, is that the latest version of the driver?
If not, download and install the latest, reboot and test.
    Good luck,
