Premiere Elements 11 won't open at all on my laptop?

I downloaded the program from online and installed it after some figuring out. I had to re-download and re-install it after the program would not open when I would click on the desk top icon (and the option for elements in my Windows Start list). It still will not start no matter what I do. There's no virus, no message popping up to tell me what's wrong. Simply nothing happens. I need this program both for school and my job and would appreciate some input if anyone has any answers or has experienced the same thing. Thanks.

Thank you for your quick reply
I have purchased a disc and installed from there (Student/teacher edition). When this didn't work after multiple re installs I downloaded from adobe web site and installed.
I installed the latest version of quicktime from the net.
I don't have an anti virus program (yet)

  • Premiere Elements 11 won't launch at all.

I installed Premiere Elements 11 from a disk that also has Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements launches successfully. When I try to launch PE 11, either from the Start menu or the desktop icon, I get the round "swirl" for a moment, then it disappears and nothing happens. I also right-clicked and selected the option to run as administrator. I got the User Account Control message and I clicked OK.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my HP desktop. I tried to update the driver (ATI Radeon HD 5450) but it said I have the latest driver.
I appreciate any suggestions or help.

Have you answered the classical question yet, that is, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit? And, did you right click the Premiere Elements 11 desktop icon and selected Run As Administrator.
What about deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file? Have you been there and done that?

If deleting just the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file in that 11.0 Folder does not resolve the problem, then try deleting that whole 11.0 Folder.
In all of that, make sure that you are working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives on so that you can see the complete path.
Have you checked your antivirus program to make sure that it is not involved in this issue?
Have you already gone down the road where you deactivate in Help Menu/Deactivate, close out of there, and uninstall (Control Panel) and reinstall?
Have you tried launching the program from Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file in the Program Files. The desktop icon goes to Adobe Premiere Elements 11.exe which opens the program to the Welcome Screen. The Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file bypasses the Welcome Screen.

What is the computer operating system for your HP computer? And, since it is a HP computer, does it use more than one video card/graphics card.
Premiere Elements has problems with that 2 card system. Please tell us the card situation as shown in Device Manager/Display Adapters.
    The usual drill
    1. Running computer from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and Run As Administrator applied to desktop icon?
    2. Latest version of QuickTime installed on computer with Premiere Elements?
    3. Did you install the program to the default, Drive C location?
    4. Does the problem exist with and without antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Even though you cannot open the Premiere Elements Editor, can you open the Elements Organizer?
Let us start here and then decide what next.

  • Premiere Elements 8 won't open on my new laptop.

I bought a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite, i3 processor, 16G RAM), uninstalled Premiere elements 8 from my old laptop and installed it on my new machine.  But when I try to open it, it won't open.  Instead it opens the programs (X86) folder and displays all the files and folders.  What do I need to do to get it to open?

But when I try to open it, it won't open.  Instead it opens the programs (X86) folder and displays all the files and folders.
You've definitely installed it wrong. Or your shortcut is set up wrong.
What happens if you browse this folder and double-click on the exe file?

  • Premiere Elements 11 won't open

Installed Premiere Elements 11 but it won't open. Have uninstalled and reinstalled but still no luck.

First, thank you for that information.
    Now, you say:
I ran the Update Driver and it said it is up to date. I installed it on another computer that is older and it works ok...still won;t open on mine
I would first go to the Intel Web site, and manually check for a more recent update. 2011 is a very long time ago. I find that the OS's driver update utility, or any driver utility, will likely be very out of date. For most programs, that does not usually matter much, but PrE really needs to interface VERY critically with that video driver.
If you have a Dell, Lenovo, HP, or other major mfgr's. computer, I would also check their Web site, as some of those companies will rewrap the video drivers for their specific version of the hardware and their specific version of the OS.
As for PrE running on one computer, but not the other, I would look closely to see if those two computers have the exact same video card, and video driver. If they do, then I would check to see if they each have the exact same Windows updates and hot-fixes applied. Even simple OS updates CAN render the video driver obsolete. That is why the major video chip companies update their drivers so very often. Intel, while making good chips, has not been nearly as good with driver support, as nVidia, or AMD/ATI. As mentioned above, the video driver is not so important for general computing (Intel's target), but programs, such as PrE, extreme games, or 3D work, require much more from the video driver - other programs will usually still run pretty well, but not programs, like PrE.
Good luck, and hope that Intel has a newer driver for you, that solves your issue.

  • Premiere Elements 11 won't open offline

What is required to run Premiere Elements 11 offline? I have users with it on their laptops. The application works perfectly when on the school's network but will not even open when offline. Has anyone else run across this? OS= Win7 64bit Enterprise.

I'm now thinking that it is related to the "Documents\Adobe\Premiere Elements\11.0" folder and it containing the default locations for the ScratchDisks. (what else does the program rely on from this location?) Our schools redirect "Documents" to their network drive which is pretty standard practice in an enterprise environment. Thus no network drives when offline. District policy doesn't allow for making files available offline for these Documents folders.
With Premiere working online, going to Edit, Preferences, ScratchDisks - Captured Video, Audio, etc. setting can all be directed to a local C:\ folder but still the program will not open offline.
So the question now is; Is there a regkey, option, magic lever or way to disassociate the program from the Documents folder and have all of it's components working from the local hard drive?

  • Premiere Elements 12 won't open a new project

I recently installed premiere elements 12.  It is the first time install of any version of this software.  When I open the program and click on Video Editor, then New Project ...a black and purple ribbon scrolls for about 2 minutes, then nothing.  I have a Dell Inspiron One2305 running Windows 7 - 64 bit, AMD 2.8 Ghz processor.  I have 4 gb of RAM and 916 gb of hard disk space.  Reading through suggestions, I have tried the following without success:
    1.  I updated the driver for the AMD 4200 Video Driver.
    2.  I loaded the software as the administrator, but I unstalled, then created a new administrator account,  and reinstalled under the new administrator account.
I'm not a techie by any means, but I can follow directions pretty well.  Any help is appreciated.

This is my processor:  AMD Athlon II X2 240e
I also loaded the latest version of Quicktime today (forgot to put that in my "what I already tried")
I just ran the Windows Update and one failed with this error:  Code 800B0100 Windows Update Encountered an Unknown Error.  When I click Get Help with This Error, nothing runs.
Running Disk Clean up and Defrag now.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 9 won't open (says 'my online storage is full' on launcher)

I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 for quite some time now. I've made several projects in the past, and now all of a sudden it says on the launcher "You've reached your storage space limit. If you'd like to back up, store, share, and access your photos online, please consider upgrading your storage plan." I ignore the notification and proceed to make a new project. After it finishes loading, the editor tab pops up, but pops up blank, and remains blank, and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't want to pay for online storage because it's too expensive and I don't have the money, and I don't know where I can delete what seems to be online files. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the software, but I still get the error message.
I haven't gotten any help at all for my problem. I payed $100 for this and I want to make use of it. This is my last hope. Someone please find a solution for me.
    Bronson

    Bronson,
Did you have photos stored on photoshop.com? Ever? If so, they probably have all been transferred over to Adobe Revel if you did nothing during the Adobe transitioning from photoshop.com to Adobe Revel.
Right now there is funny business going on with Elements programs with regard to the Adobe ID and Password sign ins. I still do not see an explanation for not being able to sign in, but the program works in spite of this. I have not see Adobe posting any acknowledgment of the problem or its probable involvement in the situation.
When you reported what I thought was success on your side, I asked
When you get everything together and get a chance, please let us know if it was everything in the list or one particular item in the list that was the key to success?
Never did get an answer to that question whether it was one or a combo of my suggestions that got things working at that time. So, answer to that would help especially now when we seem to get back to Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 not working.
Since your report of success on August 19th how long did the success last? Until today or other?
If you have not already, have you repeated the steps that appeared to resolve the issue?
When you went back to using the "fixed" Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1, did you get tempted into clicking on any of the photoshop.com/Adobe Revel lures?
Please review the above and then we can decide what next.
    Sorry for the setback.

  • Premiere CC 2014 won't open at all!  Help

I cannot get Premiere to open at all.  Crashes right after the splash screen.  I have never opened the program before.  After a couple of tries, I uninstalled Premiere CC  This came off fine.  Tried reopening Premiere cc2014 again.  No luck.  Still crashed after splash screen.  Any Ideas?

    Good morning TerryTheNib,
Please navigate to the following location: C:\Windows\system32\amdocl64.dll
Move the file amdocl64.dll to desktop and that should fix it. Let me know if this helped.

  • Premiere Elements 8 won't open

I recently purchased APE  8 and am new to video editing.  The Organizer program opens fine and I was able to put my videos into different albums.  However, when I tried to open Elements to actually edit the videos, I was unsuccessful.  I clicked on Edit, Edit with Premiere Elements; right clicked on a video and videos, and then clicked on Edit with Premiere Elements; and, finally, clicked on Fix, then Edit.  In each case, the software went through a multi-sceond loading process but then nothing opened and I remained in Organizer.
When this first happened, I was told that I didn't have enough RAM.  I've now installed 2.5 gigs of RAM.  My system runs Windows XP and I have plenty of memory.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    aschiffr67
Although a dual core processor would be nice, so would be 4.0 GB installed RAM instead of 2.5 GB. Even with that 4.0 GB installed RAM in a 32 bit system, typically only 3.5 to 3.0 GB RAM would be available, but it is more than what you probably have now. But, there is always the possible perk of the 3 GB Switch. If you have Windows XP, I believe that you do that through the boot.ini file.
http://dwf.blogs.com/beyond_the_paper/2009/04/enabling-3gb-switch-on-windows-vista.html (this has to do with virtual memory, not RAM)
Have you optimized your virtual memory setup and defragmented and cleaned up the computer a lot.
There is AVCHD and AVCHD-Lite. AVCHD has the video codec (compression) =  MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and is characterized by final images of 1920 x 1080 (either via AVCHD Full HD1080i with 1920 x 1080 frame size and square pixels OR AVCHD HD 1080i with 1440 x 1080 frame size and HD anamorphic so that you end up with your 1920 x 1080. These days you will usually see a video with the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec with a resolution less than 1920 x 1080, namely 1280 x 720, referred to as AVCHD-Lite. Flip Mino HD appear to be recording 1280 x 720 30 frames per second video with mp4 file extension. In addition, I have seen the codec for some referred to as H.264. Do you know for a fact that this "H.264" represents MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression which would be representative of the AVCHD family??? MPEG-4 by itself does not mean AVCHD, at least not in my mind. Have you taken your video into the free utility named gspot to see what it says about the codecs for your video? Or, called the camera manufactuer to asked if the video codec in your camera is AVCHD-Lite or in the AVCHD family?
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/quick_start.html
If you really do have AVCHD-Lite, have you looked at the Steve Grisetti popular FAQ about editing AVCHD-Lite? If not, please do so.

  • Help! Premiere Elements 7 won't load project

Premiere elements 7  won't load my project.  Icon just spins - for about 10 minutes - then it freezes.  Figures that I am so close to finishing!!!  What are my options?  Can I copy the project and open on another computer?  Can I download a newer version of Pre and upload the unifinshed project??  Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not offer that many options, if a Project goes "off."
However, these would be my first steps, and pretty much in this order:
Go to the PrE AutoSaves, and change the View to Details, so you can see the Dates/Times. Try Opening the very latest one. Note: if you have not changed the default, there should be five AutoSave files, and they should be located in the PrE AutoSave folder, in the Project's heirarchy. You want the latest one, not the one with the highest increment. AutoSave 03 could be newer, than AutoSave 05.
If that does not work, then try this - Move your Assets to a new location. Then, Open your original Project. As it loads, you should be presented with "Where is file _____?" and that is what you want. Here is the tricky part. If you have many Assets, and hopefully they are in the same folder, or a few folders, and not spread around the system. I would move all Video Assets to a Video folder, all stills to a Stills folder, all Audio to an Audio folder, etc. as you want to isolate things. When presented with the "Where is file ____?" navigate to the folder with that file, and locate it. PrE will then relink to all used Assets in that folder. This is why I would segregate Assets by type, to isolate the problem, if possible. If all of your Video files load fine, you will get a "Where is file ____?" for the stills, or the music, and repeat. If the Project fails on one Asset type, then you have located the bad Asset by type, and can repeat the exercise, by segregating each file in that Asset type, to a unique folder, navigating to each folder, when prompted, until you find the bad Asset.
In the tests above, never do a Save, but only a Save_As, so as to not overwrite the original PREL file.
Good luck, and hope that it is a bad Asset, and nothing more.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 won't open

I had a computer problem and had to re-load all of my software.  When I reloaded Photoshop Elements 12, with the proper serial number, it opened and worked--but only one time.  Now, it won't open at all.  What should I do?

    Swapnil,
There is a cache which has the name C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache. It contains an SLC file with a long name (X19zbGN...), and a subfolder called SLConfigs, which contains a subfolder called V7{}PhotoshopElements-EMT12-Win-GM.  That subfolder contains one file called SLConfig.
If I rename the folder, which is presently named "SLCache", what name should I give it?
Also, the Program Files folder doesn't say Program Files (x86), it just says Program Files.  Is the (x86) part important?
