Premiere Elements 12 - Add media webcam "no device control"

Hi, I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12 and I am trying to record live using Logitech C920 Webcam. Whenever I try to "add media", even though it recognizes both image and audio devices in the webcam, it shows "no device control" and the screen is black. How can I solve this situation? Thank you.

Just some thoughts....
Premiere Elements 12 assumed on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
Add Media
Webcam or WDM
In the Premiere Elements 12 Capture Window, there are 2 tiny arrows pointing right at the top right of the Capture Window. You can access
Capture Settings and Device Control there.
Click on Capture Settings to bring up the Project Settings dialog. Click on Capture in the left column in the Project Settings dialog..
In the Project Settings dialog, you should see "Capture Format: WDM Capture" and to the right of that a Settings tab.
Click on that Settings tab to bring up the WDM Capture Preview Settings dialog.
In the WDM Capture Preview Settings dialog, assure that you have check mark for
During Preview
Preview Video on Desktop
Preview Audio on Desktop
During Capture
Preview Video on Desktop
Preview Audio on Desktop
Also, if you go to the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace Edit Menu/Preferences/Device Control, what choices do you have
and which one is selected?
We will be looking for your results. I have seen a video tutorial on Premiere Elements 12 working with the webcam that you appear
to be using and all seems to be working.

  • Can I use canon eos40d for stop motion capture in premiere elements 9?

I Want too do stop motion capture but when I click get media, the pop up dialog box proceeda as if to import still photos. How do I get the "capture panel" that is talked about where I can select stop motion?  Is premiere elements 9 supposed to work with a still camera like mine for stop motion at all?   Thanks!!'  Kimberley

Thanks for the reply. This is my take on the situation that you describe.
    You wrote
The camera was linked to PC with USB cable and then the software showed on the PC what would normally be in the camera viewfinder.  The enter key on the PC worked as a shutter release and onion skinning worked.  Can premiere elements do this?
That more or less describes the Premiere Elements Webcam experience if Premiere Elements recognized the Webcam.
If you have made a USB connection between the Canon 40D and the computer and you are not getting a Capture Window when you use Premiere Elements' Add Media Webcam or WDM compatible device, then Premiere Elements does not support that simple route. It is my understanding that WDM compatible device represents Windows Driver Model (a framework for device drivers).
I have done some Google searching, and I have found instance where claims have been made for the Canon 40D as a webcam. I post one of these links for informational and non promotional purposes.

Have you explore any utilities that came with the Canon that might supply drivers for the Canon as a webcam?
Have you tried to use the Canon 40D as a webcam with Windows Movie Maker?

  • Premiere Elements 12 will not open?

Hey so this just started today.  I've been able to edit for the past few months no problem...but today all of a sudden it will not work.
I am running Adobe Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7.  I uninstalled this and re installed it and it still will not work.  I bought a copy of this from Best Buy so I have all legit copies of everything.  I set it up so it automatically goes into the editor now...and it still wont work.  Before I uninstalled everything I would click new project...and that still did nothing today.  How do I fix this because I run a partial career through videos and editing them...without that I don't have much.
Also, why is it that when I record through my webcam and screen capture and try to do picture in picture my webcam video unsynchs the audio and video..but when I watch it by itself it's fine?  We're talking a good 3-5 second delay between video and audio.  I definitely didn't drop this much money on a program to be messing with the quality of my work.

Please clarify, are you referring to the Edit area monitor playback of video captured (Full Motion) from your webcam with Premiere Elements Add Media/Webcam and WDM selected? Or something else? What is your webcam and what is the recording format? Is the webcam recording with a variable frame rate?

  • Premiere Elements 13 - .MOV crash!

When I try to import files I've filmed on my iPod (.MOV) to Premiere Elements 13, it crashes! - no error message. Re-opening Premiere then is impossible unless I restart my PC. Is this a file type issue? Is there a better way to import my iPod clips other than copying & pasting from the DCIM folder? Help appreciated! Thanks,

    Thanks for the reply.
    The keys here
    a. You have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer.
    https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
This applies to you even if you are running Windows 8.1 64 bit.
    b. You want to be running Premiere Elements from a User Account with Administrative Privileges.
See Control Panel/User Accounts and Family Safety/User Accounts and Manage other Accounts which
should show you the accounts.....Look for Name/Local Account/Administrator for the account that you are using.
That applies to QuickTime as well as Premiere Elements.
    c. Import your files to a hard drive save location. Then, import them into the Premiere Elements Expert
workspace using Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag
the file to the Timeline. (There is a drag and drop way, but let us first make sure we can do it as I have described.)
I do not think that the following has anything to do with this current matter. All that this is telling me is when you open a file
with the .mov file extension it is set to open to the Video app of your computer, provided the Video app supports the .mov file
    that you have.
Also, my .MOVs are set to open as default in the new Windows 8 app 'Video' - do you know if this is right?
Please let me know if you are OK with the above. If not, please do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 unable to import *.mt2

When I attempt to import a file with the .mt2 extension into Adobe Premiere Elements 10 I recieve a message that says "Online Services encountered an error.  The service will now be terminated or paused if possible."  Then I am unable to generate the code from the website to import the video.  I've imported this type of file hundreds of times in the past with no problems.  I am totally stumped.

What model of camcorder is this video coming from and what resolution is it?
Did you use Premiere Elements' Add Media/From Flip or Camera tools to get the video from the camcorder to your computer?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?

  • Premiere Elements 12 Project

I want to give the Details first as I see that is what is needed to get any help.
Brand New Lenovo Laptop,  app 5 weeks old. - It  has windows 7 Professional - 64 bit operating system, 146 gb free -  8 GB Memory - ( Just added 4 it started with 4)
Premiere Elements 12 - Got my first video on this system about 1/2 way done. ( I edited once before on movie maker and finished it on Premiere 12)  It is very large with lots of video clips and stills from about 9 different people, so I am guessing, 9 different cameras, Ipods and tape. ( have not worked on the one from tape yet, it is down the road, Right now when I play it, it does not move, the audio does, but the pictures do not change. I have rendered a lot.
I know I probably should have made several smaller videos and joined them together, but I was afraid after doing some research that I would not be able to put them together. I am putting together a lot of our family experiences from the Colorado Flood 2013, and I have gathered the video clips and stills from family members, neighbors and friends.
I have not been saving it on an external drive, so my personal feeling right now is that I am getting a clogged up disk and I need to know exactly HOW to get the stuff transferred to a external, but I do not know where to start.
I can see a lot of build up like when it renderers, saved and etc. I also heard on the Premeire On-line class that I should clear out the cacus, I think it was but I have not done that, I am a little nervous to do the wrong thing.
That about sums it up, so hope you can set me straight on a few things.   Need any more info just ask!!
My question is what do I need to do now to get this so it moves again?

    Premiere Elements 12 Windows.
Some miscellaneous information and then some comments specific to your workflow.
    1. You can create a title in the Premiere Elements Titler, close the Titler, go to the Project Assets, highlight the title's thumbnail there, and go to File Menu/Export/Titles to save the title to the hard drive as a .prtl file. This file can be used in any Premiere Elements project. When you want to use that saved title in a particular project, then use Premiere Elements Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag the title to the Timeline.
    2. The classical way to associate text/title with a photo is to move the Timeline Indicator to the place where you want the text/title to begin.
Your photo or video is on Video Track 1. Then Text Menu/New Text/Default Text to open the Titler. The text file will automatically go to the position of the Timeline Indicator and Video Track 2.
    3. If you have a "title page", I am assuming your have text on a transparent background. You can add images to a "title page"
    a. When you are creating a title page in the Titler, there is an option to "Add Image", see Text Menu/Add Image.
    b. You can use multiple video tracks. On each video track, for each photo, scale down and position photo accordingly. And, have title on above track, with title position accordingly.
    c. There is always the Picture in Picture Effect (PiP). See fx Effects/Presets and explore and experiment with the static and not so statis PiP options for 25% and 40%.

  • Premiere Elements 12 Crashes on Mac

I have a fairly new Mac with the latest Maverick updates. Premiere Elements 12 crashes randomly when I am working and loses everything. It even loses files from the folder where imported media is stored. It loses saved work as well. I have no idea what to do but I need help fast. And I have tried the uninstall and start over stuff as well as rebooting my computer many times. It doesn't help.

If you use Premiere Elements' Add Media tools to get the video from your Canon camcorder, the video files should come into the program as .mts files and the program will automatically set up your project based on the specs for this video. (Assuming your video is 1920x1080 or 1440x1080 and that one of these clips if the first clip on your timeline.)
I'm not sure how you're getting .mvi files, but if you load .mts files into the program, they will work.
Open a new project and try using Add Media/From Flip and Camera to get the video from your camcorder to your computer, then add one of these clips to your timeline. In Expert view, you should NOT see a yellow orange line along the top of the timeline, above the clip.

  • Premiere Elements slide show error mesage

After preparing a slide show I went to "Share" and checked "Burn Video DVD/Blue ray. When Premiere Elements loaded and went to download my project file I received an error message as follows "This type of fie is not supported, or the codec is not installed".
I cannot create the slide show on a dvd.

I had been working on the Premiere Elements 13 Windows tryout, trying to cover as much as possible. The tryout has expired. I should have the purchased version by the end of the week.
Elements Organizer 13 is a "new breed" of Elements Organizer along with it "Slideshow".
You say that you have created your slideshow (presumed with one of its 5 themes) and saved it as an Elements Organizer 13 Slides Show Project.
From that point on, this is my take on this which I will confirm again later in the week when I have the purchased version...
    a. The Slide Show Project is a creation of the Elements Organizer 13 and remains in the catalog, available for re-edit (limited).
    b. The only way out of the Elements Organizer 13 for this created slideshow is Export to yield an AVCHD.mp4 file either 720p30 or 1080p30 which
is saved to the computer hard drive.
    c. It is those AVCHD.mp4 files that can be imported into a Premiere Elements project with Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets.
    d. I do not recall there being a viable opportunity to use the Slide Show Project thumbnail in the Elements Organizer 13 workspace for a Share/Burn Video DVD or Blu-ray.

  • How do I add a transition between every clip in Premiere Elements 11?

    Greetings -
Folks, I'm looking for a feature that even the cheesy old Windows Movie Maker used to have.  I'm trying to figure out how to get Premiere Elements 11 to add a transition between every clip via some shortcut/quick means.  I find it obnoxious and inefficient that I need to manually drag a transition between every clip.  If I import 200 short clips that I took with my point and shoot camera, it'll take me over an hour alone just to put the transitions in place.
Is there any way to select a transition and have Premiere Elements add it between every clip?  I've stumbled on the fact that you can click a transition and make it the "Default" but have not been able to figure out what that does for me.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements and SDI Capture?

Hi - I'm a Premiere Pro user but a customer is setting up a retail video capture situation that will be operated by non-video folks. The customer wants to use a Canon XA-25 to stream video via SDI capture to a computer. Will Premiere Elements do that?

    Rich Hall Reps
As far as I can tell Canon XA-25 is not a mini DV or HDV camcorder with an iLink for DV or HDV data capture firewire into a Premiere Elements capture window. In that regard, Adobe has removed that feature from its latest version 13/13.1. Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is the last version to have this feature which has a classical history of working only with a firewire connection. In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, Add Media will not include DV Camcorder or HDV Camcorder. The surviver is Webcam or WDM with description "Capture video from webcam or other WDM compatible device".
But, my interpretation of what you are seeking is not DV or HDV capture firewire, but rather live streaming of uncompressed video from the Canon XA-25 using the Canon SDI Output

Based on the above, I am not sure if the Canon output can be made to work with the Add Media/Webcam or WDM choice with the Canon being recognized in the Capturing Source field of the Webcam or WDM Capture Window. Do you have any version of Premiere Elements to explore this possibility?

  • My Premiere Elements 12 tells me I need Premiere Elements to put a slideshow on to dvd.

I recently acquired  Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12.  I made a slideshow in Organizer, and followed the Manual's instructions on how to proceed to get the slideshow to a dvd.  I get a drop-down from Premiere telling me I need Premiere Elements to do the task, and do I want get it from a dvd or try a trial version.  If I wasn't so frustrated and mad I'd think this was funny.  Can anyone explain what's wrong?
    Thank you,
    Norm.

My thanks to Peru Bob for transferring the matter, an hello to you A.T. Romano.
I'll respond to your first memo.
You understand correctly that I'm can't fully use Elements 12 or Premiere Elements 12, even after help from Adobe.  Several people at Adobe worked on the problem(s), the last being a Supervisor, and it appeared I was finally "up and running".  Then, I came upon the current problem.  Two case numbers were involved: 0185568696 and 185597498.  In answer to your question 1, I was sent an email from "[email protected]" providing two product serial numbers and instructions on how to download the products. I couldn't get the downloads to run to completion, thus I called Adobe.  Second question:both Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 are listed in my Control Panel's Programs and Features list.  Question 3: I did the slideshow in Elements 12 Organizer, then went to Premiere 12 Edit and clicked Add Media; the slideshow images all appear and  I selected them, then selected Project Assets, and the slideshow appears on the timeline.  I'm not doing any editing, so select Publish + Share, and choose DVD.  A pop-up displays and I complete the entries, most being left as is.  When I select to burn is when I've been getting the drop down with the message stated in my first Forum access.  Today, however, when going through the steps so I could answer your questions, when I select Pub&Share and get the pop-up, a warning on it says No burner.
I went through the procedure again and got a message Disk not present.  Again and again one or the other of these messages with my successive attempts.
Then it started burning!  When done I played the dvd back.  The images were there but not the titles/comments.  The user manual on page 61 says: create a slideshowin Photoshop Elements 6.0 or later... with captions ...and titles...Import the slideshow into Premiere Elements to edit further or burn a dvd..
It must be tiring for you to have to read all this, and I'm sorry for that. Will try to follow your outline of steps I can take to check on the status of Premiere on my system, and get back to you.  I'm a neophyte at all this, so It will take me some time
    Thank you for your patience,
    Norm.

  • Presets in Premiere Elements 7

I have just recorded my first video on my Sony HDR-XR500V. I want to transfer my video from the camera to my computer using Pre 7. To open a project I must set the presets. My camera specs do not match the choices in Pre7's box i.e. my camera captures at AVCHD 1440x1080/60i. The choice is 1440x1080/30i. Does anyone know if I can choose that setting? Thanks, DH

    DH
If you are recording your AVCHD to the hard drive of your camcorder, some people use the software that came with the camcorder to transfer the video from the camcorder's hard drive to the computer's hard drive and then bring it into Premiere Elements  with Premiere Elements' Get Media/Files Folders.
Premiere Elements 7 does offer a Premiere Elements 7 route Get Media/AVCHD or other hard disk/memory camcorder and the Media Downloader. In the Media Downloader, there is a Get Media from: and a Select a Device. Sometimes the device is not recognized. If it is, then go with this route first.
Once you have your media on the Timeline and edited, you can go to Create Menus and then Share/Disc/Disc to create a DVD Video widescreen. But, remember that your project preset determined which set of DVD Menus would be available to you when you got to Create Menus in this project, namely HD menus. You will not be getting the standard or widescreen versions of the menus that would normally be associated with DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen. If you were burning the Timeline to a BluRay disc where HD menus would be more appropriate, that would be another story.
But, if you want a DVD-VIDEO, Share/Disc/Disc (make the best of the menus) and select the burn preset for the widescreen (16:9) version of the DVD-VIDEO.
Remember that you started with AVCHD 1440 x 1080 (4:3) with HD Anamorphic which stretches the video 16:9 on display after encoding. In this situation you end up with 1920 x 1080. With the DVD-VIDEO product, you will end up with 720 x 480 with a 16:9 flag to stretch the video 16:9 on display after encoding.
Check it all out and see what works best for you. If you had a Blu-ray burner, Blu-Ray disc, and a Blu-Ray player, you could take full advantage of the high definition of with the Premiere Elements software. There are also methods for burning AVCHD in Blu-Ray format to a DVD disc. There you export your Premiere Elements 7 Timeline as a .m2t file and then use that file and other software to get your Blu-Ray format on the DVD for play back on many TVs and PS3.

  • Premiere Elements 9 on Mac - project size limitations?

About a year ago I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 9 with a view to self editing of underwater video projects.  At about the same time I purchased a Sony Handycam HDRCX 700V video recorder.  This is HD video and seemed to be the way to go.
I quickly realised that the laptop computer I was planning to use just did not have enough grunt to deal with the high defination video.
So recently I went and purchased the highest specification desktop Mac machine I could lay my hands on.  Apple iMac 27 inch i5 3.1GHz QC, 4GB RAM, 1TB hard drive fully expecting my problems to be over.
I have now started putting together a sizeable project of video footage taken on a Red Sea scuba diving trip.  I have the clips all in the timeline, cut down and sequenced but want to start the actual editing process with respect to transitions, video clip effects, audio etc.
The new computer is now starting to fall down.  While the computer itself remains standing the Adobe PE 9 software keeps crashing.  When trying to add a second piece of video into a second timeline (I want to crop and have them play at the same time) the software crashes.
My question is what the practical limitation is for a size of a project?  I am hoping to end off with something around 60 minutes but it would appear as if the software (together with the computer) is not capable of handling this.  Any comments?
I have checked to see whether all the Mac software is up to date (yes it is) and all the PE9 software is up to date (yes it is).
Are the specifications good enough?  What more can I do?
Any help will be most appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Stevenmac

Your camcorder shoots in a variety of formats, and not all of these formats are supported by Premiere Elements.
So first you must ensure that you do not shoot in 60p! Loading 60p high-def video into Premiere Elements can cause all sorts of problems. Shoot video you plan to edit in Premiere Elements in 60i and 30i only.
Beyond that, you can shoot in 1920x1080 AVCHD or 1440x1080 AVCHD. Despite these numbers, these two formats are the same essential resolution! The latter just uses more traditional TV pixels.
But whatever you shoot, you MUST ensure that your Premiere Elements project is set up to handle that footage! So whatever you're shooting, when you start your Premiere Elements project, select the AVCHD or Full AVCHD setting that matches your video specs. Then attach your camcorder to your computer and use Premiere Elements Get Media/From Flip, AVCHD and Hard Disk Camcorder to import the video from the camcorder to your computer.
If your project specs match your source video, you should not see red lines above the clips on your timeline until you add effects to them. Is that the case in your project? When they match, you should have excellent performance.
Parts 1 and 2 of my free 8 part Basic Training tutorials on Premiere Elements support site Muvipix.com will show you how to set up a project and import AVCHD footage.

  • Trouble importing analog 8mm video with Premiere Elements 9.

I have some old analog 8mm tapes that i'm using a sony camcorder to import through firewire. When I try to import the entire tape (2hrs) It doesn't automatically add the tape to the organizer or timeline. But it does create the .mov file and I can open and play it in quicktime. Problem is when I try to import it into adobe premiere elements 9. It gives me an error: Too many audio channels in file. When I take shorter clips less than 5min. The clips automatically get imported correctly and no error is given. When I compare the video files both have the same audio info, but the longer video will not import. I'm really confused. any ideas?

Either something is very wrong on your system or there's something you're not telling us.
You're capturing your video by going to Premiere Elements' Get Media and selecting From DV Camcorder, right?
If so, when you capture your video, it should show up in your project when you click the Project button (under the Organize tab).
    Is this not the case?
You keep referring to the Organizer. You should not be using the Organizer to capture your video. You should use Premiere Elements' Get Media/From DV Camcorder. Is this what you're doing?
