Premiere elements 13 split screen

Is there any way to split screen a portion of a video in premiere elements 13?  I know you can do it in iMovie, but it's not worth working with low quality resolution that iMovie produces.
What I am trying to do is include bullet points from a keynote/powerpoint slide into the video.  My ideas were split screen with the jpg of the slide on one side, a picture-in-picture effect with the jpg of the slide as the small picture, or an overlay of the bullet points text directly on the video.  (If it makes a difference, I am on a macbook pro)
Any help is greatly appreciated, I have been struggling with this for a week or so.  Thanks in advance!

In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, please check out
With one clip on Video Track 1 and the other on Video Track 2 directly above the Video Track 1 content.
fx Effects/Transform/Crop
Also see....
fx Effects/Presets/and one of the static 25% or 40% PiPs (picture in picture effects).
If you have used iMovie, are you familiar with the principles for creating the effect?
Please let us know the outcome. If needed, we will supply some screenshots to demonstrate the
ideas.
By the way, is your Premiere Elements project set as a 16:9 or 4:3 project? How are you outputting your
PowerPoint slides from PowerPoint, 4:3 or 16:9?

  • On Macbook pro how do I reset my premiere elements 12 welcome screen back as it was to ask if existing or new project.

Hi there, on my macbook pro, can anyone tell me please how I can reset the welcome screen in Premiere Elements 12 back to how it was, were it asks to open an existing project or a new one. I made the mistake of changing the settings to open Premiere Elements editor by default but now it opens straight into a new project each time. Many thanks.

I am strictly an Elements Windows user, but I think I am on common ground with this response. Please check it out.
Resetting of the Welcome Screen is done using the icon to which the arrow points in the screenshot.
If you cannot get to the Welcome Screen due to a prior set, then in the Open project, if you have a Window Menu, go to Window Menu/Welcome Screen.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements shows white screen

At some point in generating a project, the SW suddenly shows a "white screen". Then the Windows 7 Screen gives you the option to wait for the program or exit. After 30 to 50sec. the screen is normal again, but then starts showing white again. When starting the "Windows Task Manager" you can see the memory used for the process "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe" to start at about 200 MB going up to 800MB, Then the program works again, shortly after falling back to 200MB (white screen) and then counting up again - and so on.
    Any idea?
    Thanks for any help! Nick

What version of Premiere Elements are you working with and on what Windows 7 is it running (32 or 64 bit)?
Are you saying that this problem exists when you go to open a new project (no media introduced into the project yet)? Or, are you trying to open a project that has already been created/saved/closed?
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" problem? If it worked before, how long ago was that and what were you doing when things went from good to bad?
Information that John asks about your video card is important and should be ruled in or out at the onset.
Let us start  here and then let us decide how best to customize the troubleshooting for your specific issues.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 8: Splash Screen Fail

I am running my Premiere Elements 8 on Windows 7 64 bit, latest Nvidia drivers.
The splash screen where you launch the actual program loads fine and my projects open from the OPEN PROJECT menu the first time, but if I close the program and try to once again open a project from the splash screen/launcher window it disappears and nothing happens! I must reboot to work on my project again. This happens if I try NEW PROJECT or OPEN PROJECT. Nothing is on my taskbar, but if I go to the task Manager in the processes I see Adobe Premiere Elements.exe *32 still running. Is there a 64 bit version?
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forum.
There is no 64-bit version of PrE. Only PrPro CS5 (and the soon to be released CS5.5) is 64-bit.
As for the hang (and continued running), there might be something in this ARTICLE, that will help.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements 8 Grey Screen/Crash

When I attempt to open a saved or new project I get a blank grey screen.  I've been using this program for years and only recently (a few months ago) this has happened.  Also, when I attempt to open organizer it crashes.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no luck.  I'm using an HP Pavilion Slimline w/Windows Vista Home Premium OEMAct.  I've updated my latest NVIDIA driver and do not have MacFee security.  I'm not much of a tech guy so I'd be greatful for any help.  Any other suggestions?

    1. Preview Files. Are you on Vista 32 or 64 bit? In my Windows 7 64 bit, I would go to Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0 and, in the 8.0 Folder, empty out the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder. Do you find such a folder on you computer hard drive?  I am in 64 bit.  I was able to find those files and clean them out.  They were pretty much empty since I recently re-installed the program.
    2. Conformed Audio Files. Here I would go to Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0 and, in the 8.0 Folder, empty out the Media Cache Files Folder. Do you find such a folder on your computer hard drive? The only two folders in the 8.0 folder is "Preview Files" (now empty) and "Encoded Files" (empty as well)
    3. Conformed Video Files. Here I would go to Local Disk C\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache and clean out the Media Cache Folder. - Found these files and cleaned out a significant amount of files.
After that we will be going after the Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 settings file
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    8.0 Folder
and in the 8.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that we delete. If that does not work, then we delete the whole 8.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path. - Found file and deleted both the Prefs and then went back and deleted the entire 8.0 folder.  I started up the program and the same issue occured.  I went back through these instructions and the 8.0 folder and Pref file had reappeared - not sure if that is supposed to happen?

  • Premiere Elements 11 - preview screen white

Hi, I recently downloaded the new PRE 11 but each time I've added a file to the timeline and tried to watch it through the preview screen I get the audio fine but the preview screen itself is white. If I click on the preview screen I can see the video but the video stops immediately.
I've had a search of the web and of this forum for similar issues and tried:
    - updating my graphics drivers
    - updating PRE 11
    - deleting Baddrivers file
    - I have the current versions of Windows Media Player & Quicktime
But had no success so far. I haven't tried hooking my camera up and adding the files direct from the camera yet but have tried adding other files already on my hard drive that are from the same camera along with various different file types also from my hard drive. My incredibly limited knowledge on these things would lead me to think its some kind of display/graphics problem but not at all sure.
If anyone has any suggestions or can help in any way I'd be very appreciative!
Not sure what kind of details you incredibly clever people need but heres some basics:
    Lenovo
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz 3.00GHz
    4gb RAM

440Gb Hard drive with 202Gb free

With regard to your video card driver...please confirm that you have been to the Intel web site and found the latest driver
For: Intel HD Graphics 2000, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Is dated 3/21/2013 with the version given as 15.28.15.64.3062.

and that you have deleted the BadDrivers.txt file found in the computer path
    Local Disk C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete.
I believed that you have said that in prior thread, but I am just double checking.
In a prior thread, I asked if you were having this problem in the Edit Mode Monitor as well as in the Preview Window with has Set In and Set Out points. What was your answer to that question?
You say that your file is AVCHD with a .m2ts file extension. What happens if you rename just the file extension of that file and then import that into Premiere Elements 11 new project?
    Examples
    .m2ts to .m2t
    .m2ts to .avi
    .m2ts to .mov
    .m2ts to .mpg
you say that your AVCHD.m2ts file is 1920 x 1080 16:9. Is this interlaced or progressive video? What is the frame rate? And, what are you or the program setting as the project preset? (Please refer to Edit Menu/Project Settings and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, and Frame Size.)
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 9 "white screen" issue

    Hello All,
I recently bought a Canon HFR100 and am new to video editing, and decided to give the PRE9 Trial version a spin..
My issue is, after installing the trial, and messing around for a few days, all of a sudden I get a white screen for a preview, instead of the viewer with the watermark in my editor. if I double click a video file, ANY video file, no matter what video type I chose for my project file, I get this white screen. The audio is playing fine, but no video, just the white screen. (see image for the white area)
I've searched the forum for an answer, tried possible solutions (unistall - reinstall quicktime & Flash, added codecs, reinstalled the trial version. etc)...I just dont get it. Nothing else had changed, to my knowledge.
It's also a new home built machine: Intel i5, 4gb ram, Vista32, EGVA GTS450 Display card....no other problems...
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for good software to edit my son's hockey games, and I was looking at purchasing the full version, but I'm concerned it I do, I'll have the same problem (if it's a corrupt file, somewhere).
    Thanks!

I am having the same issue -- white screen with all video files, can hear audio but can't see any video when previewing thumbnails or rendering previews or video --
    I have a different configuration:
    Dell Precision M6300
    graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro FX3600M
    OS: Windows XP
    Intel Cor 2 Duo CPU
    T9300 @ 2.5Ghz
2.47 Gh, 3.50 GB of RAM
    I've updated the driver...
    Quicktime...
    Disabled my anti-virus...
I've been messing with this since I installed the trial a week ago but still have not been able to get Premiere Elements to work and try.  Any suggestions?

  • Premiere Elements 4/Photoshop elements 7 - grayed out menu

I am a total newbie with no artistic skills at all.  I am just trying to create a DVD using ONE clip.
I want to create a still shot from the clip to use as a menu background.
According to the Premiere Elements 4 help screen I should just have to click on the camera and then have the OPTION to edit the image in Photoshop Elements.  For my setup this option is grayed out.  All I can do is save the image as a .bmp (bitmap).
Can someone tell me why this is?  Did I do something wrong in setup?
Is there a good book for PE ver 4?
    thanks
    Mark

    Thanks Barb and Steve
You have both answered my question.
Now if I wasn't so intimidated by the software I might try it
Do you think it would make sense to upgrade to version 8 of both?  I am thinking of upgrading to a new PC since this software is such a resorce hog!
I really need to get some books altho I read the PSE 7 missing manual and it described features that didnt work on my PC!!

  • First few moments of the video render as just a black screen - Premiere Elements 9

    Hello,
I'm putting together a short, 8-second demo clip of a particular moment of my project in Premiere Elements 9. The section involves two clips which were taken seperately, but are cut in half with the crop function so that they both play on the screen at once. There are also some position and brightness adjustments of one of the clips to ensure they match up.
However, I have begun seeing strange behaviour when I attempt to render the clip and as so far I have not been able to get a usable copy. When rendered as a .wmv, one of the two clips is inexplicably cropped from the bottom up to about a quarter of the height of the scene, despite not being so in the editor. Furthermore, when rendered as an MPEG, the format I would prefer the file to be in, although I do not get the first problem I get an issue where the first 20-23 frames of the video refuse to play in an external video player. I tried both windows media player and VLC. Instead, the section of the video appears as either a black screen, a black screen with a white line on it, or, if the video timeline is scrolled back to the start, the last frame viewed. The music clip which accompanies the video however still plays during this section, and the error is not seen at all in the editor. Oddly, if one of the rendered files is imported back into Premiere Elements 9, and played within the error, the 20-or-so frames will indeed play. It seems it is only the Premiere Elements editor that can play these frames.
I'm utterly at a loss here. I don't mind too much not being able to export as .wmv, as it is not my first choice, but if anyone could help me with the MPEG rendering I would be very grateful.
The source files are AVCHD (.mts) files, at a resolution of 1440x1080. There is only one "clip change" at the point where the video becomes viewable again, but this is merely where I have split the same clip to perform a brightness change, as I have many times in the video elsewhere.
    Thank you for any help,
    Black.

Here's a screencap of my interface, although I blurred out the video preview section (it doesn't contain anything relevant anyway).
I would like to avoid posting a copy of the video if I can help it - I doubt my actors would be too pleased with me posting them around the internet.
As for the project settings, when I first imported the clips Elements informed me that my project preset was incorrect for the clips and automatically picked one to fit them, so I'm sure that that's all set up fine. All the footage is from the same camcorder, except for a splash screen image, of the correct resolution, which flashes up at the end.
I have used assets of the same format previously and with no isses.

  • Photoshop/Premiere Elements 10 installed but won't run past Welcome screen

I bought and downloaded Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 for Windows 7 - 64 bit on Dec.31/11.  There were no error messages in the download, although the Akamai downloader screen didn't seem to show 100% before proceeding to the next step.  Everything appeared to install correctly (it's  a long process!).
At first, clicking on the desktop icons or the Start Menu list would bring up the Welcome splash screen, where the broad options (Organize, Edit, New Project) were shown.  However, clicking on these options had no effect at all.  Eventually even the Welcome screen wouldn't appear. I checked the Windows task manager and no applications were running.
I checked the shortcut properties and noticed that there was a separate executable in the target directory (eg. existing link was to "Adobe Premiere Elements 10.exe", but there was also a file called "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe"), which did run...however, I couldn't launch the Organizer from that program, and the "Home" link to the Welcome screen didn't function either.
With thousands of these programs being downloaded, I'm surprised that this serious glitch hasn't surfaced before.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

There are three different programs -- Photoshop Elements (PSE) which is for editing bitmaps, Premiere Elements which is for video editing, and the PSE Organizer which is for cataloging your media.
I don't like the sound of that Akamai downloader not registering 100%.
Uninstall all the Adobe products, reboot, and download the installation package again.  Check the Properties on that downloaded file and "Unblock" it if Windows has flagged it as "possibley harmful and coming from another computer" before starting the installation.

  • Premiere Elements 9.0.1 - Loads with blank screen and no functionality

On launching PE9, the application loads and I get the top menu bar, but the rest of the screen is grey and the majority of the options on the menus are greyed out. You cannot open a project, create a new project or do anything.
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the software but the issue remains. I last used it about 4 monhs ago to create a instant movie from a set of photos.

I have worked with Premiere Elements 9 as tryout and purchased product from its release time (about 2012). And in 2012 I wrote about it in
Premiere Elements 9 First Look http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73757
Premiere Elements 9 Daily Discoveries Premiere Elements 9 Daily Discoveries - Elements Village
Premiere Elements 9 has been on my Windows 7 64 bit computer (Intel video card/graphics card) since 2012 without problems after the display card error was resolved. No relaps in that regard.
Premiere Elements 9 has been on my Windows XP 32 bit (NVIDIA) and Windows XP 32 bit virtual since 2012 without problems.
Premiere Elements 9 has gone through some installs, reinstalls on Windows 8 and 8.1 (Intel video card/graphics card) from time to time without any problems.
Unless you use the audio fix that I described, there is a problem with retaining replacement background for the burn to DVD-VIDEO products. See post numbered 8 in the Premiere Elements 9 Daily Discoveries thread cited above.
Other program glitches are described in the threads cited above. But, none, except the display matter, ever kept me from using the program successfully.
Premiere Elements 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 are on my Windows 7 64 bit, used one at a time. I have looked at Lightroom tryouts (never went with the product), and they did not compromise the working of version 9 at the time.  I have never used Photoshop CS6 nor the GoPro software.
Premiere Elements 10, 11, 12 are on my Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit when I install 9.0/9.0.1 there from time to time for user troubleshooting purposes - my posts are based on first hand experiences with Premiere Elements.
My major problem with the program was the display card error reported.
Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
See post 10 in the thread just cited for the rationale behind the BadDrivers.txt file deletion.
Although that type of issue can present in Premiere Elements other than 9, it seems to me that version 9 was worst case in this regard. My solution was the deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file even with an up to date video card/graphics card.
If deletion of Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and/or the whole 9 Folder in which it exists does not resolve your Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 issue, then I would suggest
    a. looking into the video card/graphics card and its driver - double check to assure that your video card/graphics card is up to date...and, if it is, delete the BadDrivers.txt file.
    b. assure that you have the 9.0.1 Update installed
    c. double check Scratch Disks location and free hard drive space at that location, if you can get into a project
    More later.
Please review and consider. (If you are thinking 12/12.1, please look at the tryout before purchase.)

I have tried to view videos created in premiere elements 10 and I get the following message: "this file type is not supported, or the required codec is  not installed.  When it opens there is a red screen in the monitor panel with Korean writing which also appears in the place of each clip in the video.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling premiere elements 10, but that did not have any effect on the video.  Do you have any suggestions?  I researched codec, but do not understand them at all.

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1317675
Older NVIDIA GeForce drivers can be found

A February 2014 overview of the situation as well as how to use the older NVIDIA GeForce drivers for the driver roll back can be found

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state "tracks" when moved across screen...

I have finally found time to work on and to learn how to use my recently purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (APE11) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, using Adobe’s respective ‘Classroom In A Book’ training aid I recently purchased. To my disappointment when I open Adobe Premiere Elements 11 in the 'minimize' state it “tracks” when I try to move it across the screen, (see images), making it impossible and unacceptable to use. It only happens with APE11 and not with Photoshop, Premiere Organizer, MS Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.), or any other programs on my computer. Also, the “tracking” doesn’t happen to a video within the APE11 video working space. I have installed this instance of APE11 twice to no avail using the Adobe defaults. See the added images for the current configuration of my PC and the APE11 version I have. I noticed in APE11’s Properties that I don’t have Compatibility checked-off because I never have had a previous version (see image). I do the Microsoft & Windows 7 updates regularly. This PC was purchased and configured to work on photo and video editing & manipulation, along with my everyday use. [Purchased on 2/22/13 from a reputable company Computer Links, Burlington, NC 27215, 336-226-4738 Invoice# 148599, (Technician: Matt). I am not a computer science person, which is why I relied on Matt to configure my PC. As this appears to be an AEP11 issue I am relying on you to resolve the issue verse Matt. Your support with this is much appreciated.
I had one person kindly suggest "Could you try to update your graphic card drivers, if they are not current"? If I knew how to & where located on PC I would consider it, however I would think it would be current as it was new when PC was purchase 2/22/13 and if it was out-of-date why wouldn't the other programs on the PC also 'track', such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, MS Ofiice Suite programs, etc.? (PS: I thought I posted this in the Adobe Premiere Elements area 5/19/13, apparently I posted it in the "Downloading, Installing, Setting Up" discussions area instead, & didn't see a way to move it?? I started in APE11 Area.)

    ATR and Reese,
It appears Matt solved my issue earlier today and I have been testing it without a failure.
Matt determined it was the Personailization "Themes" I was using. I had the Theme "Windows Classic" selected from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group, and when he changed it to one of the "Aero Themes" the Adobe Premiere Elements "TRACKING" problem went away. He and I are not sure why it works by changing the theme, but it appears to. Using the Aero Theme continues toi allow me to use my own photos for "Desktop Background" and "Screen Saver".
The path to it is via the PC display by right clicking your mouse, select "Personalize", select one of the "Aero Themes" and go from there according to personal taste. See image below:
Note: Something for Adobe to consider going forward, if the above remains a solution. Matt says as I am using Windows 7 I have a selection between Themes, either "Windows Classic" from the "Basic and High Contrast Themes..." group or one of the "Aero Themes" (which resolved my Tracking problem), however Windows 8 did away with the "Aero Themes" and there isn't a choice then what? He isn't sure if there will be a tracking problem or not.
ATM any thoughts on why the above Themes setting would make a difference?
ATM thanks for all your help, along with Matt of Computer Links, Burlington, NC , 336-226-4738. I will update this posting as events occur, both good and bad.
    Cheers and Regards,
    Mike (Ghost1013)

I wouldn't think the graphic card would be out of date as it was part of the 2/22/13 PC purchase, however I don't know how to verify it using Windows 7 to be sure if it is or isn't. If it was the graphic's card, wouldn't the other programs, such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, the MS Office Suite Programs, etc., on the PC also 'track'?.
