Premiere Elements 3.0.2 Quicktime Export Crash

I haven't used Premiere Elements 3.0.2 in a few months, but now I want to export something I was working on as a Quicktime movie. However, whenever I choose the "Quicktime" option from the Export menu, the entire program just closes without any error message.
If I select export as a MPEG or DVD or Flash or any other option, the program works fine. But, I really need to export as a Quicktime and can't figure out why the program shuts down. I have the latest Quicktime (7.6.4) and I tried re-installing Elements, but still the program shuts down.
Anybody have any ideas? Suggestions?
I'm using Windows XP with SP3. The program works fine except for this one problem.

SG
Could you please supply the source of your information that "there is a lot of that going around"?
The user is using an older version Premiere ELements 3.0.2 and the most recent update of Quicktime. So it is very tempting to suggest that Quicktime update is the cause of the issue presented. I have the latest version of Quicktime installed on my Windows XP SP3 computer. I can take a Premiere Elements 7 Timeline with an AVI MPEG4 video, export it with the program's Quicktime basic export (Cable Modem/H.264, default) and save it to my computer hard drive. I can successfully import that .mov into Premiere Elements 2, 4, 7 and 8 without problems. However, before you can start working with the video on the Timeline, you have to wait for a conforming process to occur (whose progress you can follow at the bottom right of the window).
File conversion is an often needed workaround for many situations. But other avenues of troubleshooting should be explored before workaround. Maybe the user will find the workaround easier than troubleshooting the issue to conclusion. But in this case, I would suggest that the workaround may result in unexpected side effects. Every time I have used Prism for file conversion it messed up my Premiere Elements operation and had to resort to System Restores to get back to "normal" with Premiere Elements. I do not know if there is a lot of that going around, but that is my experience with Prism.
I would really like to know more about the user's Timeline and computer environment.

premiere elements 8 causes my system to crash, suggestions?

Version 8 was a bit unstable upon release anyway. Have you downloaded the patch for it?
Meantime, can you please give us more information? Can you be more specific about the crash? Does it literally cause your computer to shut down and reboot?
At what point does it crash? As soon as you start it, or after you've added media to it? If the latter, what model of camdorder is this video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
What operating system are you using? Have you manually gone to Windows Update and installed the non-critical or optional updates that do not install automatically?
How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, freshly defragmented space is on your hard drive(s)? Remember that even brand new computers are a mess of junk files and defragmentation.

  • Premiere Elements 11 stops responding at Exporter Quick Time Host.Bundle. Can this be fix?

I'm having a problem with my Premiere Elements 11 which has start happening recently. This problem occurs after I sucessfully open & close any of my projects in Premiere Elements 11. After closing Premiere and trying to go back on it when I want to use it again it stops responding when it reaches Exporter Quick Time Host.bundle. I have a OSX version 10.8.4 and QuickTime Player version 10.2. Does anyone know if this problem can be fix?

The footage that's in the project that I'm working on is from 2 different camcorders. One is a Sony DCR SR68 with the video format being MPEG-2 video, AC3 and its resolution being 720 x 480. The other camcorder is a Canon VIXIA HF R10 with the video format being AVCHD and its resolution being 1920 x 1080.
But here's the thing about the Canon camera. I got the videos from each other the camcorders into my computer by just copying the video files into a folder on my desktop. But here's the thing about the Canon camcorder, when I try to copy the videos from this camcorder I had to copy the whole folder which is named "PRIVATE" and the videos in this folder plays on the Quick Time Player.
When I started my project in Premiere Elements 11, I imported all the videos I copy into my computer into my project by going to Add Media > Files and Folders. The videos from Sony camcorder were mpg. and the videos from the Canon camcorder were mts.
I duplicated 2 of the videos from the "PRIVATE" folder by going into Quick Time Player > File > Duplicate. I imported these 2 videos into my project file the same way I did with the other videos. But I deleted the duplicated videos in my Project Asset panel yesterday when Premiere Elements was acting up.
Plus, my Premiere Elements 11 opens up without any stops/not responding because of this whole Exporter Quick Time Host.bundle after I restart my computer. I don't want to keep doing this since it's messing up my work flow. And that's what's going on.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 hangs while exporting and during peak file generation.

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 (PRE7). I have a project which is using a single clip from a Mini-DV that was captured with Nero 8. Nero 8 was used because it was captured prior to installing PRE7. The file is 12GB and is on a USB disk drive because I don't have the space on my main hard drive (I have about 11GB free). My project doesn't do too much that's fancy. It merely uses about 20 minutes of the 60 minute Mini-DV captured AVI, and it uses simple transitions between each scene. I also have very simple titles at start and end. No themes or anything else.
I've seen two problems. 1) While editing the project, seemingly (but I'm not positive it's related) while the peek file was being generated, PRE7 would get into a state of using about 40% to 50% CPU, and it would not let me do anything else. The other problem, 2) While using "Share" to export the video to WMA for playback on PC (about 180MB estimated file size according to Adobe), the file is exported to about the last remaining 5 seconds, but then PRE7 goes into that mode of hanging with 40% to 50% CPU usage.
One time when it had this 50% CPU issue, I let it sit overnight, and the export was finished in the morning. The export that time was to a 90MB FLV for posting to the "web" according to the Share wizard. But when I was doing the above (issue #2), it went into the 50% CPU usage but didn't finish after waiting around 2 hours. Even if I were to let it sit that time, and it were to finish, it seems like something's wrong and that this is unacceptable.
When this happens, and PRE7 goes into 50% CPU utilization, there is no pacifier or percentage bar advancing. It usually happens near 100% finished. Only one time did it complete successfully after leaving it unattended at 90% complete for an extraordinary amount of time.
    To recap:
    C:\ hard drive ---> PRE7, my project.
E:\ USB drive ---> 12GB source AVI file and destination for export.
I saw elsewhere on this forum that someone imported a mini-dv captured AVI into Window Movie Maker and then exported it to Mini-DV from that app. This solved that person's problem with hanging during peak file creation. I had the 50% hang issue during peak file generation but I'm not sure it was related to peak file generation. A peak file was generated in a project which, when exported with share as mentioned above, still did the hang 50% CPU issue. Regardless, I will try the import/export/movemaker thing and report back but I've been trying enough things that I wanted to take a second to ask for assistance.
Does anyone have this issue, and is there a patch or fix?
I might be able to provide a user mode dump of the 50% CPU adobe process. There is some call stack information and I'm wondering if developers would want this info if they don't already have a solution/fix to this bug.
    Thanks for any help.

I have some more info on the hang which I've been experiencing during export/share of a project which uses an AVI as its one main clip. Adobe Premiere Elements 7 (PRE7) appears to be hanging because it's looping endlessly in ImporterAVI.prm. I'm wondering if this info can be passed onto Adobe developers and/or if I can submit this information elsewhere for such processing. I also have a process dump file which might be helpful, not to mention the original project files.
I used Process Monitor to help analyze this situation, and prior to PRE7 getting into the endless loop, it appears to be reading from the AVI file little by little, and WMEncodingHelper.exe is writing out little by little to the destination file, both of which I would expect. When PRE7 gets to the end of the import/export, Process Monitor appears to show all the aforementioned disk activity ceasing. I see neither process reading or writing. This would be normal if the share/export procedure had completed. But PRE7 is not complete. It is hung and is operating at 50% CPU utilization.
Far below in this post are technical details which may be helpful to an Adobe developer determine why the importer could get into this endless loop. In those details, there is a jump instruction, "jb ImporterAVI!xImportEntry+0xf32", which will always jump if a particular compare always turns out a certain way. But in my review of the counters being compared, it never will get to a point of exiting. When I modify a flag (the carry flag) to be 0, the loop exits. When I did this, my export/share of my project completed successfully. So it was done, but for some reason, PRE7 was looping and looping in its AVI importor instead of completing the export (aka "Share").
I cannot say that this certainly indicates a bug with PRE7, but it seems to me that there's enough data for Adobe to be at least investigating this particular issue. I'm not the only person who has seen this as there was at least one other message describing the same problem which the user resolved by effectively re-creating the AVI file via a no-op import/export into and out of MovieMaker. My AVI also goes through MovieMaker, import/export, without a hitch.
In a sense, I view PRE7's "share" as essentially an import, processing of imported information (i.e., effects and transitions), and an export. It's an import of all clips into the project at the right times, a processing of all effects, and finally an export to a destination. I realize this is simplistic, but the point I'm making is I have a simple project with a single AVI, and it appears that the "import" portion of PRE7's Share option is choking on the only clip used by this project. I also don't have much but simple transitions and a beginning/ending title on the project, so I'm not thinking this use of PRE7 is much more than what I'm doing with MovieMaker when importing/exporting this AVI.
I fully agree that optimum hardware can be either required or critical for certain types of video editing, but PRE7 is a consumer program and I'm not using anything extensive about it and the symptoms are that PRE7 is looping on its import of a file other programs don't have a problem with. I already tried purchasing a 1TB external, which I'm glad I did, but I really think Adobe developers should look at this issue. There may be a problem with handling certain AVI clips used in a project when those clips come from certain sources. If there is an issue, perhaps it could warrant a fix that would make PRE7 more compatible with these other clips.
Does Adobe have a procedure for people to upload (or mail) projects and files to it so that they can troubleshoot why the importer gets into this state? I also mentioned earlier that I have a full user-mode dump of the process which may be of value to a dev. Can I submit this information anywhere?
    Here are textual technical details:
    Plug-in which loops: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\Plug-ins\en_US\ImporterAVI.prm
The following are the instructions at the "bottom" of the loop which never ends. Below, I put "***" at the jump instruction I mentioned earler. If I force the carry flag to be 0 at that point, and the jump is skipped, the export completed successfully. Additionally, notice that [esp-0x1c] is 0x2000, and that both eax and edi are 0. When I see it loop, eax stays at 0 and never reaches 0x2000. I wonder if something about the AVI is causing values used by this importer to be such that it causes this endless loop, and if that's the case, and if such values are valid/good, I'm wondering if the importer can be fixed by being able to detect such values so as to not choke (if in fact it's an importer issue).

I have also installed the program on another Pc I dont use but has Win7 and thier it works just fine.
So what should I do so I can use the program that I actually bought serval weeks ago?
But still cant use.... Anyone that know of this problem?
Really bad that you cant write or call adobe "support"

How long ago did you purchase Premiere Elements 12? If it is within the last 30 days, you might be eligible for a free move to version 13. You need to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat to discuss that as soon as possible if that is something of interest to you. There may be some debate about the way to make contact, but, if you purchased from Adobe direct as an online download, I would contact Adobe Chat by clicking on the following and following through with Chat Panel.

If the link does not open as set, then you will need to navigate to Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.
If you stay with 12, then there are several areas to pursue
    1. Can you open the program by going to the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file, right clicking it and selecting Run As Administrator, and then double clicking the .exe in an attempt to open the program direct to the editor?
    See

and in the Adobe Premiere Elements 12 Folder are the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe and Adobe Premiere Elements.exe. You want the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file.
    2. If you create a new User Account with Administrative Privileges and install and run Premiere Elements 12 from there, does the program open?
    3. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Let us start here and then decide what next.

    i'm on version 12

    Hi Jacquima,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
It seems like Premiere Elements 12 is not activated properly.
Please open the finder window and click on go and choose computer.
Navigate to the below path then
    MacHD>Library>Application support>Adobe
Rename the files SLstore and Slcache to Slstore.old and Slcache.old respectively.
Launch Premiere elements 12 again it will prompt you to enter your Adobe id and password and then the serial number.
By following the above steps you will have to reactivate your Adobe products. Make sure you have no other Adobe product.
If you have any other adobe product installed make sure you have the serial number for that.
    Thanks

I read a post that Quicktime gets stored in the wrong place sometimes.
I have never had (nore heard of) this problem and have had a version of QT from at least the early 3.x days. Now, I always install it to the folder that I want. I also do NOT let it grab all the file types, and set these manually. I also cut off the auto-update function, as I do for all programs.

Possibly it might help, but what also might more quickly be tested is using fewer titles and seeing how iMovie reacts. In fact you can test by attempting to eliminate titles in the reverse order they were added.
First go to your Project Library, highlight the name of your current project by clicking once on its name so it highlights in blue. Go to File Menu > Duplicate Project. One of your titles may be corrupted and causing your iMovie to crash. Did the crashes start around the time you were adding one particular title to your current iMovie project? Start with that one and just keep working backwards. But only work on this Duplicated project not the original. You might eventually discover it is just one Title out of all of them that is the culprit. Delete that one from the original and try exporting your project again.

  • Export movie with transparent background, Adobe Premiere Elements 9

    Help!
I'm now using Adobe Premiere Elements 9.  I'm trying to create a few regularly used lower-third animated graphics.  There will be 4... each with the same animated background, but with different names in text.
I was able to do this just fine in earlier versions of Premiere Elements... using Quicktime Export, and changing color settings to "Millions + of colors"... or something similar...
Is there a way to do this in this version?  Help!

You can not export video with an alpha channel from Premiere Elements. Sorry.

    285 GB, 149 GB used
    burst transfer rate: 3 MBps
    5400 RPM
    8 MB cache
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8300
    2.40 GHz
    4.00 GB of RAM
Whenever I try to export my project (which is less than 3 minutes long and contains no more than 2.25 GB of 720p 30fps video), the program crashes. Usually, the progress bar will go about half way before an Adobe message tells me that Premiere is running low on system memory. Not long after that, a Windows message appears telling me that "Adobe Premiere Elements has stopped working" and it crashes to the desktop. This has occured without fail perhaps 50 times in all my tries to get this to save.
As this project has progressed and become larger and larger, it has become more and more difficult to export. At first, there were no problems. Then, I had to start restarting the program or my computer immediately before exporting. After making a few more changes and additions, I have been entirely unable to export succesfully.
I have set my export settings at far lower levels than would be acceptable for this project, but the program still crashes. I was most recently trying to save the file as an .mpg with the NSTC Widescreen DVD settings. Trying to save in other file formats and at other settings has not been succesful.
I do realize that this is probably a commonly asked question, so I apoligize for bringing it up again. I have searched for information on this topic and have tried several suggestions, including changing the virtual memory and cleaning up my hard drive.
Is my computer just too weak to export this project? Would a more recent program fix my problem? Are there any techniques or suggestions I should try?
Thank you very much for your help.

According to Kodak http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/pd/Zi8_Pocket_Video_Camera/productID.156585800 you are not selecting the correct setting... that camera does not use HDV

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 4 Crash - Windows Vista

After approximately 14 to 16 seconds of viewing any .mod video file recorded from my JVC Everio camcorder a Windows error message appears and Adobe Premiere Elements 4 immediately crashes. Is there a patch or fix for such a problem? I have checked that my computer system meets the system requirements and I am unsure what else to do other than returning the software?
    Error message in full reads:
"Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working. A problem causeed the program to stop working correctly. Windows will closs the program and notify you if a solution is available"
My new HP Pavillion (m8075a) computer system includes:

My objective is to handle MOD files from a JVC Everio Hard Drive Camcorder with Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0 (PE4) as PE4 crashes after a little while when using MOD or MPG files.
Sorry Steve but I dont want to use the software that came with the JVC Everio camcorder. I bought PE4 (in euros ...) to use it. By the way MOV files used by QuickTime have nothing to do with MOD files from JVC Everio camcorder! Yes I know, it's confusing.
After some months of useless forums, reading, hardworking and frustration, I finally found a solution to the problem!! PE5 works quite well and no crashes have occurred so far....
Here it is. It's not straightforward as you have to use two different free programs but the method is simple to follow.
    1. Transfer MOD video files from the JVC Everio camcorder to the PC.
    2. Convert MOD files into MPEG2 files with the help of a freeware program (I used Converio)
    3. Convert MPG files into DV-AVI files using Free Video Converter.
This free program is very simple to use and DV-avi files output is compatible with PE4 which is not the case with some other conversion programs.
As DV-AVI files are not compressed, they are more easily handled by video programs.
I havent been able to directly transform JVC MOD files into files fully compatible with PE4. If someone knows how to do this, please tell me.
In conclusion, I feel it is unacceptable that neither JVC nor Adobe offer the compatibility of their products. The information provided by these reputable companies is deceitful for unaware users and sometimes wrong.
