Premiere Elements 4 Dropped Frames Reported?

I know this sounds stupid, but I looked everywhere. My preferences shows CAPTURE: Report Dropped Frames. So, If I HAD dropped frames where does it tell me? so far I have had no reports, does this mean no dropped frames?

I may have missed something, but I cant see a response to the original question. With PE4, how can someone determine whether or not any frames have been dropped. As far as I can tell from studying the forum and Help, the only way is to do this: select the clip in Timeline, then click File/Get Properties For/Selection. This brings up a "Properties" window with a lot of data, but no explicit statement of the number of dropped frames. At the bottom of this window is a series of vertical blue bars, each of which represents the total number of KB in a single frame -- my test came out to be about 117 kB. I assume that if a frame were dropped, then that vertical blue bar would be missing. But there is no explicit statement that this is the case.
What I would hope for is a simple, explicit statement like I got in Pinnacle Studio 9, which provides a simple number during capture. This number is the total number of dropped frames so far in the capture process. Upon completion of the capture, there is an explicit number stating the number of dropped frames.
Does PE4 have anything like this? Is there any explicit number buried somewhere that is similar to the Pinnacle number? Finally, is my assumption above correct, that any missed frames would appear as a missing blue bar in the Properties window?
Thanks for your help,
Dr. Rock

  • FMLE 3.2 capturing fewer frames after 8 hours of recording but no 'dropped frames' reported

A client of ours is capturing 20x live streams via FMLECMD directly to F4V files (15min chunks) for ~21 hours a day. They're finding that after approx 8 hours of recording, FMLE gradually reduces the number of frames it's recording & the resulting files have very choppy playback (no dropped frames are reported). It eventually crashes on most of the machines before completing a day's work. Some machines also display a C++ error message on crash whereas others just freeze up.
One PC was set to capture a blank input & doesn’t exhibit this behaviour ie captures at the initial/specified framerate even 20hrs in. Please see the profile xml below.
The spec of the capture workstations is:
    HP Z200 i3 i3-540/3.06GHz/2GB/160GB Hard Drive/DVD-Writer/ Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD/Windows 7 Professional
Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro in each, running Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2 (scripted to launch via CLI with no preview). These PCs are fresh out-of-the-box & have never been online.
As an immediate/short-term workaround, we've set a restart interval for FMLE of 5 hours but this compromises the recordings as the stop/start process obviously results in a loss of recording time & requires manual file renaming. Please note, none of the machines are streaming - just capturing locally to F4V.

The video framerate is 25fps. Timecode is embedded every 5 frames.
Capture starts at 25fps & continues capturing at that rate until around 8
hours. After which it gradually reduces the captured framerate till it
crashes or completes. This behaviour is exhibited on all 20 Pcs. The CLI
reports no dropped frames at all.

Out of the 128 gb ram that is on the system I have only 6 reserved for other applications.
    My Problem:
The goal was to have a machine and software that I could put 4k files (r3d) into without having to render. Without having any lag, any skipped frames or bumps in the editing process. I wanted the biggest and baddest machine on the planet. I want to move as fast as I can think/edit in 4k r3d format (or any 4k for that matter) without having to render anything, in full resolution, no dropped frames.
The problem is I can't do that, I know I should be able to, right?
This is a beast of a system, few machines get built  better than this (maybe only IMAX machines), yet I have a hard time just putting the 4k footage into the timeline and playing it, let alone editing and coloring a full project.
When I put footage in a timeline I get the yellow link across the top. When I hit play it will play fine for a moment and then start skipping frames like crazy, and that's just playing the footage at full resolution.
Ex: A 14:51 clip will have 14,823 dropped frames, in just the play back alone. I can not edit a 2hr movie like this.
I'm lost. Help! What am I doing wrong?
A 16 core machine with a 128 gb or ram running top of the line graphics cards (and a red card) should be able to manage this type of work load, right?Especially for the price (40k).
    Any answers?

Right now there is not any editing software that can handle Red 4K full res. Red CineX Pro is Red's utility. They may be building to an editor eventually but it's not that yet.
The System you have by spec is close to the ideal choice for Red media in a long form or complex project/AE comp workflow. Those specs would give you the best realtime performance ceiling you will get with Red 4K/5K. That means more FX or complex sequences are able to playbackr ealtime without rendering. I would definitely have selected a different SSD OS drive and dropped the Quadro k5000 especially with the Blackmagic card in there. Having the 2 video cards with the Rocket and Blackmagic card besides the Raid card was a bad idea. That is more than saturating the PCI-E bandwidth and adding to the latency which is likely part of the reason your half resolution playback is not good. I have a single 12 Core Xeon E5 2697 V2 on a X79 board with 32GB of ram and that handles 4 layers of R3D 4K at half resolution with a 770GTX 4GB card. That Titan card should be chewing that media up at 1/2 res especially with the red card. When I did testing with the Red cards the load on the Dual Xeon's with the Titan was less than 10% with 4 layers of Red 4K in Premiere. Likely part of the problem is the Quadro is currently being used for the GPU acceleration instead of the Titan. You have to go into the Nvidia Control Panel and set the CUDA GPU to the Titan for GPU acceleration. That is under Manage 3D settings. By default Adobe uses the GPU that outputs to the main monitor for Windows unless this is changed to a specific card. Beyond that you will probably have to remove 1 of those video cards soon.
The workflow absolutely can be in Red and Proxy is not worth the trouble. If you can proxy then there is no reason you should be able to native with 2K preview. I would much rather have the 2K preview with 4K native workflow than proxy head aches.
Hope that helps. You can contact me directly if you have questions. My email is [email protected]

  • Canon vixia HF G10 + premiere CS4 = dropped frames?!

I bought a canon vixia HF G10. It stores video in chunks of 2GB size .MTS files.
I put those files in premiere time line sequentially, and found that right before the file boundary, the video jumps forward by 3 frames, and after crossing the boundary, the same frame repeats 3 times. I checked two different boundaries and both have the same problem. This is very upsetting.
Has anyone seen this before? I don't know if this is a camcorder bug or a premiere bug.
Is there a free video player or editor I can use to examine the last few frames and the first few frames of .MTS files?
    Premiere CS4 64 bit on windows 7

The answer I found is that when canon camcorder split the MTS file into 2GB chunks, only the first file has the proper MTS header. The other files do not and are therefore not really MTS files.
The correct solution is to concatenate all the files back into one MTS file before putting them into premiere. Using windows command prompt copy /B would do the trick. However with later windows version not having command prompt, other binary concatenation utility need to be used. Canon's own software that comes with the camcorder would also work, but I don't like it.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on, and what video card/graphics card
does your computer use? NVIDIA GeForce?
If so, please read the Announcement at the top of this forum regarding the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA issue
which forces the Premiere Elements 10 user to roll back the driver version to about May 2013 in order to get
Premiere Elements 10 to function properly. For your convenience, the following is a copy/paste of that
Announcement which describes the problem, gives how to information, and all the necessary details.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you
are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of
troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained
workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce
video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card
driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as
March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any
corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.

Once we have the video card/graphics card driver matter ruled in or out, we can decide what next if indicated.
    More questions will follow including
    a. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 10?
    b. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    c. Does the problem exist with or without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - Error 6

I've uninstalled and then reinstalled, and this is the second time it's happened. This pop-up occurs when I try and open any project or attempt to start the program. After I reinstalled the first time last night, it worked fine after opening the program only 4 or 5 times, and then it gave me the error again. I've searched everywhere and can't find an easy fix for this, or maybe I'm not looking hard enough. Typically Adobe supports only the current version (which is 12)/purchased/registered. But someone reported just the other day that Adobe was supporting 11 and 12. But you have 10....
How would you class your issue "It worked before but not now" or "it never worked before"?
Typically those Exit 6 or 7 error messages are associated with installations that end with errors. I am assuming the your Error 6 is the Exit 6 Error code.
Is your NVIDIA card = NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M? If so, my first instinct would be to point you in the direction of the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce issue detailed with fix at the top of this forum. The fix being the roll back of the driver version to about May 2013.

But if your details are correct, driver version 320.86, you are working with an old driver anyway. But, you might want to roll the
driver version back a few dates beyond that one to rule in or out any involvement in the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA GeForce issue.
If you rule out the video card driver version, we could look at deleting the Premiere Elements 10 Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and
the whole 10.0 Folder in which it exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    10.0
and in the 10.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 10.0 Folder
in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and
Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
Also, determine if the problem exists with or without the antivirus disabled.
Let us go through the above and determine where we stand after that. Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification on anything that I have
written. I will rewrite if necessary.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 to run on?
You are involved in the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue whose full details (description and fix) are included
in the Announcement at the top of this forum. Copy for your convenience below.
You gave a lot of details but did not include the computer operating system. This information may be the key whether
the known fix will work for you. The known fix requires roll back of the driver version to about May 2013. If your computer
is Windows 8 or 8.1 64 bit, there may not be a driver old enough to resolve the issue. This may force you consider
a Premiere Elements version other than 10 or a different video card/graphics card for your computer. This issue is
specific for Premiere Elements 10 and the NVIDIA GeForce cards.

  • Premiere Elements 8 Initial Impressions

Premiere Elements 8 First Look: Part 1.
Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8 are now installed on my Windows XP SP3 with about available 1 GB RAM and 70 GB free hard drive space and the virtual memory controlled by the operating system…not great for a heavy duty project, but adequate to overview the programs.
    1. Download & Installation. Both programs took about 3 ½ hours to download, using high speed DSL. Premiere Elements 8 downloaded and installed without problems. Installation went much quicker. But, Photoshop Elements 8 download did present challenges, first, it kept downloading Premiere Elements 8 instead of Photoshop Elements 8. Finally in the early hours of the morning, the download from the Adobe site was named Photoshop Elements 8. Great, except, once downloaded it would not launch. The launcher did not know what to do with the .7z  file. Download and use of WinZip took care of that. My default browser Mozilla Firefox was worthless for the download of either Photoshop Elements 8 or Premiere Elements 8, but no problems with my Internet Explorer 6. I had this same problem with the Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7 downloads last year.
    2. Premiere Elements 8
    a. Organizer. I would take exception to Steve Grisetti’s picture of the Organizer in “What’s new in Premiere Elements 8?”, but maybe I was overly optimistic by “The most visible change to version 8 is that the Organizer is no longer a sub-program of Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements. It now lives as its own, separate, pretty much independent program – behaving more than ever like its professional big brother, Adobe Bridge.” He went on to say “In version 8, both programs have equal access to a single, full-featured Organizer.”
Here is my dilemma for some who want a separate video and photo catalog. If you had Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7, you could create additional catalogs in Photoshop Elements 7. Premiere Elements 7 could use one of these catalogs, but could not create new catalogs. So then, you could have a photo catalog displaying in the Photoshop Elements 7 Organizer and a video catalog displaying when you opened Premiere Elements 7. You cannot do that anymore, and File Menu/Catalog is gone in Premiere Elements 8. You still cannot create catalogs in Premiere Elements 8, so, if you just have Premiere Elements 8, you have ONE catalog. If you have Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8, you can create additional catalogs in Photoshop Elements 8 that can be used in Premiere Elements 8, but these programs will display the same ONE catalog.
    b. Project Presets. The “New Preset” button is gone. The categories of the presets for NTSC and PAL remain the same: AVCHD, DV, “Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder”, HDV. However, two choices have been added to the “Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder” categories. Now we have HD 1080i30, HD 1080i30 (60i), Standard, and Widescreen. Here I have a problem reconciling the names and the descriptions. It was my understanding, in Premiere Elements 7 for standard and widescreen in this category, this preset category reverses the Fields: from Upper Field First to Lower Field First in Premiere Elements edits. So, now with these new choices described as follows:
HD 1080i30: 1920 x 1080i; pixel aspect ratio = square pixels (1.0); camcorders like JVC GZ-HD7; 16:9 interlaced HD video at 29:97 frames per second.
HD 1080i30 (60i): HD video from 1440 x 1080i camcorders; 16:9 interlaced HD video at 29:97 frames per second HDV 1080i Anamorphic.
When thinking HD 1080i30 preset….the JVC camcorder captures to a progressive sensor, assumed at 30 frames per second, and can record to it’s built in hard drive as 1920 x 1080i with 30 frames per second each frame with 2 fields. So, what prevents us from calling this preset HD 1080i30 (30p) Square Pixel?
When thinking HD 1080i30 (60i))…the camcorder involved captures to an interlaced sensor at 60 fields per second, and can record to it media as 1440 x 1080 with 30 frames per second, using a HD Anamorphic. So, what prevents us from calling this preset HD 1080i30 (60i) Anamorphic?
When I start comparing preset choices, the only reason for using these “Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder” new choices appears to be, like for standard and widescreen, to have the Fields reversed. Do you agree? Any comments on the nomenclature for these new preset choices?
    3. Adobe Folder, folders and files
If you go to the default location of the Adobe Folder (My Documents\Premiere Elements\8.0), there are some differences there:
For Premiere Elements 7 and earlier versions there were:
    Adobe Premiere Elements Previews Folder
    Encoded Files Folder
Media Cache Folder that piled up with conformed audio files (.cfa and .pek)
    Project Prel file
    Styles Folder
    And sometimes 2 .log files
Now in Premiere Elements 8, the Media Cache Folder is gone and we have the arrangement:
    Adobe Premiere Elements Previews Folder
    CA Object Track Results
    Encoded Files
    Layouts
    Styles Folder
(You no longer see the endless conforming of DVD Menus (not even used) at the beginning of the project. But, I am still trying to figure out what they did with the conformed audio files (.cfa and .pek). More on that next time, along with Premiere Elements 8 Exports as well as Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8 intergration.

I have not gotten to Part 3 yet. This is an add on to the last add on.
I tried to find the Premiere Elements 8 Read Me file since those Read Me files usually contain "Known Bug Messages". I could not find that Adobe had put it online, but I did dig it out of the try out download folder. Here is the excerpt on Premiere Elements 8 known bugs/issues:
Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0 Known Issues
Importing Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 and 4.0 Projects
    • Effect keyframes in Premiere elements 3.0 projects may not import correctly
    Capturing and Importing Video
DV Device control will be disabled and capture will not proceed normally if sound card is not present or offline.
    ·         If capture is interrupted by a system event such as switching users, locking the system, or the screensaver, the duration of the captured file will be much shorter than expected. It is recommended to disable the screensaver before starting capture, and to avoid any actions that may interfere with the capture.
    ·         For live capture from DV camcorders, you must first disable scene detect.
    ·         When importing some Flash files a “Macromedia Flash Player security" message reading “Flash player has stopped potentially unsafe operation" may appear. Click “OK”, and the file will import normally.
    ·         When capturing form HDV camcorders you may see interlace lines in the preview window, The interlace lines do not appear in the captured video
    ·         Divx files may not be imported properly and sometimes import only audio or video part of it
    ·         After completing time-lapse capture, it may take some time for the organizer to update and display the thumbnails for the captured files. Still images captured using Stop Motion are not added to the organizer.
    ·         Importing media from some devices requires that the drivers provided with devices are installed
    ·         Stop Motion capture is not supported for HDV camcorders.
    Organizer
    •       When reconnecting missing media, each grouped scene must be reconnected individually
    Edit
    ·         If issues are seen with color in preview, switch to CPU playback mode by un-checking “Enable GPU Playback” checkbox in Edit>preferences>General and restart application after saving your project.
    ·         Generation of thumbnails for DVD scene menus may take longer than expected when using HDV content.
    ·         Organizer may exhibit performance issues with large catalogs (5000-10,000 files )
    ·         With some GPU cards enabling “Accelerated GPU Effects” may cause the preview to be zoomed in.
    ·         Voice over narration may not be recorded using a mono USB microphone
    ·         When previewing audio mixes, pops may be heard as the CTI passes form one clip to the next. These pops will not appear in your exported movie
Audio mixer sliders may become “sticky” when mixing clips that have been time stretched
    ·         [Japanese  & Chinese Simplified SPECIFIC] When application is installed to path that contains double byte characters path, GPU effects/transition will not function.
    ·         [Japanese SPECIFIC] Inputting ¥ symbol in Menu templates produces a backslash ( \ )
    Photoshop Elements Integration
    • In Photoshop Elements, choosing “Edit in Adobe Premiere Elements” may not bring the Adobe Premiere Elements window to the foreground.
    • If a Photoshop Elements slideshow is sent to Adobe Premiere Elements, further edits in Photoshop Elements will not be reflected in Adobe Premiere Elements.
    • Images saved in Photoshop Elements in BMP mode using the Advanced Settings cannot be imported into Adobe Premiere Elements. This includes images created using Adobe Premiere Elements Freeze Frame function and sent to Photoshop Elements for editing. If the image is saved using Photoshop Elements Advanced Settings, it cannot be returned to Adobe Premiere Elements, and as result, the original, unedited Freeze Frame image will be used.
    • Send to Premiere Elements 8.0 will not work from older versions of Photoshop Elements
    Exporting Movies
    • Export of movies to the root directory of any drive (e.g. D:\) may fail.
    • When exporting movies over one hour to MPEG2 format, the render dialog may continue to be displayed for a period of time after the render progress bar appears to have completed. Rendering is still occurring until the render dialog boxes closes. Clicking Cancel before the render dialog box closes will interrupt this process, and your export file will not be created
    • For play back on a PSP, movies must include both audio and video. Movies exported with video only or audio only will not play back on the PSP.
    • Archival of projects with Type 1 DV-AVI files is not supported.
    • If standard definition menu templates are used when burning to Bluray, menu images s will appear of low quality
    • When attempting to burn a Bluray disc to a previously burned disc, you will see an error message indicating that the disc is incompatible, instead of an error message indicating the disc is full.
    • Movies exported in H.264 format may have a few white frames added to the end
    • Movies exported in MPEG2 format may be a few frames shorter than the original movie
This seems to answer my question about Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Element 8 integration regarding slideshows, but may be of more widespread interest to others for the other "known bugs" cited by Adobe.

  • Premiere Elements 10 Video Preview Not Working

I have all my project setting correct but when I import a clip and try to preview it all I see is a white screen.  The audio plays but the video does not.
    System Specs:
    Quicktime 7.7
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    EVGA GeForce 780 Ti
    ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition
I've updated all my drivers but I can't seem to figure out what wrong in any of the other threads.
Can I please get some help with a solution?

    dobilia
There is an Announcement at the top of this forum which goes to the core of this type of issue. Please check Announcement at top of this forum.
The odds are that you will need to roll back your NVIDIA GeForce 780 Ti driver version as far back as necessary to get your Premiere Elements 10 Windows working again. All the details are in the Announcement at the top of this forum. But, if you have questions or need clarification on any of this, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Again, the answer to this issue targeted at the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA user is not to update the driver to the latest version, but instead to roll it back.
    Thank you.

Announcement: Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
    Hide Details
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.

What is the video card/graphics card that your computer uses? If it is NVIDIA GeForce, you are probably involved with the Premiere
Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue which forces the user to roll back the driver version to about May 2013. Since your computer
operating system is Windows 8.1 (assumed 64 bit), there may not be a NVIDIA GeForce driver version that goes back to May 2013
    for your computer operating system.
Please let us know the name of your computer's video card/graphics card. If you have a card other than NVIDIA GeForce, then
we can explore other troubleshooting strategy to resolve you issue.
Please read the Announcement at the top of this forum that details the issue and describes the how to resolve with the driver
roll back (if possible). The following is a copy/paste of that Announcement for your convenience.

What video card/graphics card does your computer use? NVIDIA GeForce? If so, please read the Announcement at the
top of this forum on the Premiere Elements 10/NVIDIA GeForce issue whose only real remedy is to roll back the driver
version to about May 2013. All the details are in the Announcement which I have copied/pasted below.

Please review, consider, and then let us know the outcome. With Windows 8.1 64 bit, I do not know if there is
a driver version old enough for you to use to get Premiere Elements 10 to work. If your computer does not use a NVIDIA
GeForce card, that would take that factor away.

  • Premiere Elements 12: Rendering not on the exact frames

I'm using Premiere Elements 12 and cutting MOV files in most cases.
Now I detected that PE isn't rendering always correctly: In some cases the rendered file shows at the end of a clip 1 more frame than in it shows in the cutting window.
Meaning: The original MOV clip contains 2 scenes. I import the MOV file into my PE12 project and put it into the cutting window.
Then I'm moving the viewing bar of the cutting window exactly to the end of scene 1 and click "cut".
When I separate both scenes in the cutting window, PE12 show exactly the result I want to get: scene 1 ends with the last frame of scene 1, scene 2 starts with the first frame of scene 2.
Then I delete scene 2 and render scene 1 to a MP4 file.
When viewing the result file in any player (e.g. Windows Medie Player, VLC, Quicktime), all these players show at the end of scene 1 the first frame of the original scene 2.
Again: even if I couldn't see this first frame of scene 2 in the cutting window!
So the cutting window doesn't show EXACTLY the result I will get!
I already tries different ways of importing the original MOV files, different codecs and so on - nothing helped.
In roughly 50% the cuts of the final file are like planned, the other 50% of cuts show one frame too much at the end of a scene.
Problem: In a lot of cases the scenes are already very short, so I can't give always "one frame plus" before I cut: sometimes I really need every single frame.
And I can't believe that a programm like Premiere Elements should not be able to cut exactly at the frame where it is supposed to!
So does anyone have a clou what I'm doing wrong?
Or this this a knows issue of PE?
    Thanks in advance!

    Dear ATR,
I now found some time to check this out.
Let me describe exactly what I'm doing:
Source file is a MOV file full HD.
Drag & drop it onto the timeline.
Set half frame option (is it called "field"?) to "reduce flickering" - because if I don't (default option: "none"), the rendered result is not that stable, meaning the picture is totterling a little. Is this normal? Could this setting cause the trouble with the last frame at cutting/rendering?
Switched Timeline to frame display instead of timecode.
By the way: this CTRL + clicking the area above the Timeline doesn't work ...
Moved the Timeline bar with the arrow keys to the position where I want to cut; the Monitor Window above the Timeline showed the first frame of scene 2. Doublechecked by moving the cursor with the arrow keys one frame forward and back again to really got the right position (twice). Clicked "cut" icon on Timeline.
Repeated the same at the end of scene 2 - the Monitor showed the first frame of scene 3.
Moved scene 2 to another position on the Timeline with the mouse (drag & drop).
Checked cuts on the timeline: scene 2 showed the first and last frame as it should.
Repeated all this with 10 scenes from the original MOV file, brought all of them into a new position and thus order.
Deleted the rest of the original MOV file from the timeline.
Put the 10 scenes together, placed them at the left side of the Timeline.
    Rendered the result.
    Settings: AVCHD - MP4
    PAL, 1920 x 1080 px, 30 fps, Widescreen 16:9, Profile: High, Level: 5.0
    rendern with max depth: "no"
    VBR, 2-path
    target: 15 mbps
    max: 25 mbps
Audio; AAC, stereo, 48 Khz, Quality: high, 160 kbps
    Priority: Bitrate
The result file showes on 4 of 10 scenes that one frame too much at the end of the cut scene.
And it always happens at the same scenes, not randomly!
So it does not depend if I'm viewing frames or timecode in the Timeline. Surprise!
But what I detected: When I'm using a "new project", this issue does not occur!!!
So I looked at the project settings: The "new project" I let the default settings be, because it I should import a file and drag this to the Timeline, the software would give me a message if the project settings should not match.
    Default settings are: NTSC-ADCHD-AVCHD 1080p60.
But what I normally do is using a template file with all my intro, outro, audio, logo and so on, copy that *.prel file where I want to edit it, rename it and then open this copied prel file. Here I the project settings show:
HD 1080i, 25 fps, 1920 x 1080 (I guess I once selected this under PAL because there is no PAL 1080p25 oder 30, just 1080p50). And I'm from Germany, so I chose PAL instead of NTSC ...
So I guess this makes a difference - even if I do not have a clue, why.
Big question now: How can I chance my project settings in my template file without making it anew?
Because I cannot copy all the objects from one project to another, right? At least I never managed to do so...
To built the template anew would take about 6 hours, and on this basic template are based 6 more templates for special formats. So makeing all templates anew would cost me up to 2-3 days!!!
So I really hope for a better solution
    Kind regards,
    Lutz
