Premiere Elements 7 Audio Help

I'm working on a video project in Premiere Elements 7. After starting to get the hang of it (this is my first time using the program), things were going fine. I was in the process of manually setting up the menu markers, when I came across a stretch of video that had no audio. This part was approximately an hour in and the entire video up until that point was perfectly fine. The soundless part lasts about 15 minutes and then the remaining 45 minutes have audio but it is badly out of sync with the video. I've tried restarting the project and re-uploading the video to the program again, but it didn't help. I know it isn't a problem with the video because I've worked with it before and just tested it in iTunes and Quicktime and it works perfectly fine with those programs.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be and how to fix it? Would the audio problems transport over to the DVD if I were to burn one with the video as is? Thanks.

Are you Importing MP3's from your iTunes, or something else? MP3's are notoriously bad for Video editing, as they cause lots of problems. I always convert all MP3's to PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit, and have zero issues. I use Adobe Audition, but the great, free audio-editing program, Audacity, will do this too, as will many other programs.
If you problem Audio is coming from the muxed MOV files, what are the specs. of the Audio?
Hope that that helps, good luck, and welcome to the forum,
Hunt
PS - as Steve mentions, when Importing any file with Audio, Conforming and PEK (Waveform Display) files will need to complete. There is a little blue progress bar at the lower-right of the GUI. Wait until it is done, before doing ANY editing.

  • Premiere Elements 13 - Help with AUDIO volume

When recording the audio volume is too low. I adjust it in Premiere Elements 13 to the maximum and it is louder but still too low.
When I play with gain I get extra an effect that I do not want.
If there is not a way to do this from Premiere Elements is there an inexpensive plugin that I can get to work? When I search google seems like there are plenty of photoshop plugins but not enough for premiere.

Thanks for the follow up and good news of progress.
    A few ways...
    One way...
    a. In the Expert workspace, you have a thumbnail for your video with its associated low volume audio in Project Assets
    b. You drag  the file from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 1/Audio 1 (the volume will be at 0.0 dB)
    c. Then you drag the file again from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 2/Audio 2. This time you right click the file there
and select Delete Video from the pop up menu.
    d. Then you drag the file again from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 3/Audio 3. This time you right click the file there
and select Delete Video from the pop up menu.
    e. You repeat this until the sound has an acceptable volume.
    Another way
    a. In the Expert workspace, you have a thumbnail for your video with its associated audio in Project Assets.
    b. You drag the file from Project Assets to the Timeline Video 1/Audio 1 (with Adjust Tab/Adjustments Palette/Volume
adjust the volume from 0.0 to + 6.0 dB)
    c. Move the Timeline Indicator to the far right...right click the Video 1/Audio 1 clip, select Copy. Do about five Ctrl+V to make
five side by side copies of the file at that remote location of the Timeline Indicator.
    d. Then go through the drill of what is described above....all copies directly above one another on tracks above Video 1/Audio 1.
drag a copy to Video 2/Audio 2, and the Delete Video
drag a copy to Video 3/Audio 3, and the Delete Video
drag a copy to Video 4/Audio 4, and the Delete Video
The quality of sound and video were good on your YouTube video. I am still having problems with my Internet connect but got
    to watch most of it.
Please let me know if you are OK with the information above. Good job with the audio gain and normalization.

  • Premiere Elements 7 Help required - timeline & source no playback

    Hello everyone,
I am currently experiencing some major problems with my copy of "Premiere Elements 7" recently which I have only encountered once before. Unfortunately the previous solution of a system restore was not available to me this time and after various re-installs and head scratching I am hoping someone may be able to help me with this issue.
    The problem:
When I double click the source footage for a preview, the footage does not play, a similar case in the timeline where once I hit the play button in the edit window, or hit space or enter, the button will indicate play, but the video will not be in motion. I can move the timeline tracker along and it will display the frame at that point.
It is only recently this has occured with no change to my computer at all. It is not connected to the internet as it is used purely for editing.
I have checked the playback settings and everything is in order and fits in with PAL.
    I am using:
    Windows 7
    MESH computer
    AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor
    3.00 GHz
    4.00 GB Ram (3.75GB useable)
    64-Bit operating system
    I eagerly await any help!

    Hey there,
My project preset is Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder Standard 48kHz, with the camera itself being a Samsung VP-MX25E
It may be worthwhile mentioning that the footage has worked in the program for a very long time before these issue began.
To get the footage from camera to computer I connect it via the supplied USB cable and copy the footage into a folder, not directly into the program as I find this method of organisation much more efficient.
The source files are all MP4 Video files, 720x576, Data rate 5014kbps, Total bitrate 5134kbps, with 25 fps.
The audio has a bit rate of 119kbps, in stereo and with a sample rate of 24kHz (the audio also does not play)
I have Local Disk NTFS with 911 GB available to me and 102GB free. All my footage is stored on here, as is premiere.
    Hope this is of help

  • I bought a hp d3000 and can'nt get it to download to premiere elements, need help!

I bought a hp d3000 and can'nt download to preiere elements 11. need help!

    rik46
As for the video specifications for your HP D3000. From what I read, you are either shooting 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second or 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second. And, your video is MotionJPEG.avi. Can you confirm that?
    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-16-1mp-21x-optical-zoom-digital- camera-d3000-black-hpd3000/10239990.aspx
If you are shooting 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second, I would suggest the following, whichever works:
    a. transfer the video from the camera to a computer hard drive save location.
    b. Open Premiere Elements 11, go to File Menu/New/Project and in the new project dialog set the project preset YOURSELF to NTSC HDV HDV 720p30, making sure that you place a check mark next to "Force selected Project Setting for this project". Then via ADD MEDIA, Files and Folders, browse to an bring your MotionJPEG.avi into the project (Project Assets).
    or
    a. if doable, attach at USB cable from your camera's USB 2.0 port (it has one according to what I read online) to the computer USB 2.0 or 3.0 port
    b. then open a Premiere Elements 11 new project - File Menu/New/Project and in the new project dialog set the project preset YOURSELF to NTSC HDV HDV 720p30, making sure that you place a check mark next to "Force selected Project Setting for this project". Then via ADD MEDIA, "Vidoes from Flip or Camera"/Video Importer and its Advanced Dialog bring your video into the project.
In these cases the project preset will match your source media (no black borders in the monitor space when you edit). If the program has a problem selecting the project preset, as it wants to do, you will probably end up with the default 1080i30 instead of 720p30 unless you step in and do this project preset setting yourself.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 8 Help!

Hello, I am using Premiere elements 8 and I have created a photo slide show. Everything is set perfectly. The only thing I would like to do is I added a title to the end and it flies on and off the screen. I need to slow this down. Also, after the title (or in my case credits) are done rolling I have one last image that I want to stay on the screen. At the start of the title/credit screen (I would like for it to run for 25 seconds) I want an audio clip to start. It will play for the credit screen and the final still image. Once the song is over I want it to default to the disc menu. Is this possible? Thanks in advance!

First, how did you create the SlideShow, that you now have in PrE?
There are several workflows, and it might depend on how you created the SlideShow.
For a Title, even with one of the Animation Presets, you can extend its Duration (it will be created to the Duration set in Edit>Preferences>Still Duration), by click+dragging on the Tail. That will slow down the Animation.
Also, one can use Keyframes to Roll/Crawl Titles with the Fixed Effect>Motion>Position. With Keyframes, you can also pause, or hold a Title, for as long as you wish.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements 9 - Help files don't activate

In Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0, when I click on the "Help" tab, I get a very short system busy icon, then nothing.  None of the Help functions activate.  Similarly, when I click on the various "Click here" messages that show up on the bottom bar on the right hand side, nothing happens.  Is it possible that my Windows 7 or Internet Explorer security settings are somehow blocking the Help files from activating?  Is there some setting that needs to be changed somewhere.  I've already reinstalled the program and had same problem. Just can't figure out what's going on.  Any ideas?

Open the Editor and try pressing the F1 key.

  • Organizer Not Working in Premiere Elements 10 - Help?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, 6 GB of Ram and installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10 a few days ago.
The Adobe Organizer is completely not working. Initially it hung when trying to import a clip, even a short clip, even after giving it several hours to do so.  Tried this multiple times, including after a full uninstall then reinstall. Now when I start organizer, it won't even fully load.  I get the icon in the taskbar, but the app won't open.
Interestingly, I can open a clip when working on a project without issue so far.
    Two questions:
    1.  Anyone else running into these problems using Organizer.  Is there a fix?
    2.  If I can't fix this, can I just ignore Organizer and just go straight to projects always.  Am I missing out on signficant functionality if I do this? . I am still within my return period.  If so, I can return and go back to Pinnacle (ugh - was hoping Adobe wasn't as buggy as Pinnacle).
    Thanks!
    Haus

If you have not done so yet, I would also post to the PS Elements Forum, as subscribers there might have some additonal tips for you. Barb__O, in that forum, knows about as much about Organizer, as anyone, who I have seen. Also, post the details of your computer, your OS, and the problem that you had with Shutterfly. Might be some useful details there.
I'd wait to let Steve Grisetti and Neale weigh in here, as I do not use Organizer, and really do not know that program.

  • New dedicated computer for Premiere Elements 13 help

I'm in the market for a new laptop or desktop, dedicated to editing videos and photos using Premiere Elements 12, soon to upgrade to version 13.  No plans to use Pro version since Elements meets my needs very well.  I  want to be able to use all tools that are available in Elements for effects, etc. some day when I have time, but right now I'm doing basic editing since time is a factor - lots of videos and lots of pictures to upload to my website and to archive while maintaining high quality.  I'm using a Canon 70D for photos and a Panasonic HC-X920 for videos since I'm a serious amateur. The camcorder is AVCHD, but will convert to MP4 and store a copy right on the camera SD card if I want it to.  I've been reading everything I can find but need to move on and either purchase or build. I am looking for that "sweet spot", where the bang is biggest for the buck.  I'll spend what I need to, but don't want that which I'll never use.  Most of what I know is by reading about ISV certified partners, but those are for the Pro versions.  If there were ISV certified Elements partners, that would be what I'd want.  I've read over the years that Premiere Elements has so much of the functionality of the Pro version, so I would think the same type of heavy duty processors might be in order, especially for AVCHD editing.  I would equip a machine with an SSD for OS and apps and at least one more massive drive for finished product.  If another drive would work best for the input, I'd do that as well.  Raid 0?  Lots of video card questions as well, since the Pro versions are able to use that ram very effectively - does the Elements version do that?  For you experts out there, thanks in advance, because I have a massive headache right now trying to figure this out!!  Configuration, brands, etc., any and all suggestions welcome.  Thanks.

The biggest difference is that Premiere Pro will use an NVidia card for GPU rendering (see next) while P-Elements does not
    http://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2011/02/cuda-mercury-playback-engine-and-adobe- premiere-pro.html
Otherwise, for general editing, read the articles here Tweakers Page
-which is about Pro, but will still give you good information on hardware for Elements (other than NVidia)

  • Premiere Elements 10 Help

I recently downloaded Adobe Premiere and Photoshop Elements 10. I started with Disc 1 with Premiere. It won't leave the "New Project" faze. I have Windows 7, so I then realized I was supposed to start with Disc 2. I started with disc 2 on Photoshop, and it works fine. HELP?

If you think you installed the program incorrectly, why not uninstall it and reinstall it correctly?
Also, before you do, make sure you've run Disk Cleanup and defragmented your drive(s). Also make sure you've got the latest version of Quicktime from Apple.
Then register the program with Adobe so that your license is fully activated.

  • Premiere Elements - Organizer Help/Question.

I have another posting out here but maybe I am not being clear enough so I will pose the question another way.
I have a .mp4 file which contains 60 short pieces (happens to be football highlights) all strung together as one contiguous video.
What I am simply trying to do is to break it down for making a handful of highlight videos, each with a different angle. (ex Offense, Defense, Rushing, Passing, etc)
This is the basic outline of how I logically see it happening.  Problem is that I am can't figure out step 2:
    1) Cut it down into 60 individual videos (which I did and currently have in my project) using the Split/Clip functions of Elements.
    2) Save the pieces off as individual video clips so that they can be rated/ranked/categorized in Organizer.
    3) Polish/edit the individual pieces.
    4) Organize and assemble the various videos using the clips.
For the life of me I can't get
    a) Elements to allow me to save of my projects as individual clips.
    and
    b) Get the Organizer to allow me to bring my clips in.
    I am using PE 11.
Does this make sense?  Does anyone have any insight to offer?

    Ok, sounds good.
I will just have to squirrel away copies of my project then build my different flavors the hard way.
I may be look at other tools before I resort to that.  I just hate to go through the headache of breaking it all down again but in the long haul could be worth it.
This just seems like the hard way to go about this task but then again I am a software guy and think in terms of reusable components.  Maybe that mentality just doesnt work for video.
Oh well, thanks to all of you for your help.

    Hi Cody
Sorry to hear about your difficulties.
It should be very uncommon for Pages to crash. I've been using it for years on a daily basis and it's only happened to me once except when I was trying to replicate a bug for someone.
Your experience might be a symptom of an underlying problem with your system. I recommend that you back all your stuff up now.
Whilst trying to isolate the issue, I recommend that you manually create frequent backups of your documents using the Finder after a successful save until you can trust it.
Next, use disk utility to do a repair permissions on your hard drive.
Also, after quitting Pages, try trashing your ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWorks.Pages.plist file (back it up first if you want) and restarting Pages.
If this doesn't work, there are loads of troubleshooting tips here: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html. I also recommend that you read the tips on system maintenance.
In case you didn't already know this, Pages files are actually packages. Control-click on the icon and select Show Package Contents to see what's inside. You may be able to recover some text from the files in there. I don't believe there are any repair utilities. Nor is the file format available.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Where do I find tune in and tune out videoclips and soundclips in Premiere Elements 13?

I can not find tune in and tune out in for videoclips and soundclips for premiere elements 13? Where can I find a manual for this program?
    Birgitta

There are a lots of possibilities for optimizing your Premiere Elements 13 project for the best possible output. The first order of business is
setting up the project correctly for the source media for import, editing, and export purposes. Although the Premiere Elements 13 Help PDF
is a valuable asset, we can cut through its 250 pages to the core of what you want and need to get the project that you seek.
But, that is going to take details starting with
    1. Project preset that you (manually) or the project (automatically) set to match the properties of the source media. Description of your
    source media.
    2. Nature of Edits
    3. Description of intended export.
With that basic information we can start to customize a reply for you.
If interested in the overview, please review the details of Premiere Elements 13 in the following First Look and Daily Discoveries blog posts
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2014/09/premiere-elements-13-first-look-details.html
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2014/09/premiere-elements-13-daily-discoveries.html
For specifics...one example, is the choice of the best project preset to use for getting the sharpest photos in a slideshow destined for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
Is your audio Stereo or 5.1 channel? What kind of fine tuning are you seeking for the audio - volume adjust, normalization, other?
Please review and consider. We would be glad for the opportunity to be of assistance.
    Thank you.

  • Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere...

Does Premiere Elements 13 have SmartSound?  I can't find the button anywhere.  I am using Classroom in a Book Premiere Elements 11 to learn it as there isn't a CIB for PE13, so I know it's not ideal, but by looking up help PE13  mentions SmartSound but I still can't find it under my 'audio' panel.

    nic22
    No.
There is no SmartSound feature in Premiere Elements 12/12.1 and 13/13.1. In those versions, you have Music Score under the Audio Tab in the workspaces.
Music Score is the same in concept as SmartSound (you can change music duration without altering the music arrangement), but is not SmartSound.
There are several places in the Premiere Elements 13 Help PDF where information is correct for other versions but not Premiere Elements 13.
Using video tutorials and books written for versions different  than your own can get confusing. The principles tend to stay the same from version to version, but features
tend to get moved, deleted, changed from version to version. And, often the video tutorial does not
make a point of what version of the program is being used to demo the tutorial - assumption "same".
As a guide, if you are watching a video tutorial and the headers read
Quick and Expert - that is 11.
Quick , Guided, and Expert - that is 12.
eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert - that is 13. (but note, some users in Europe do not have eLive).
Please review the above. If any questions or need clarification, please ask.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 9 Videomerge No "Invert Selection" Option

The Premiere Elements 9 Help PDF says that there is an Invert Selection option for Effects/Video Effects/Videomerge.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiereelements/using/WSB8CADC6B-F700-4e6d-A331-DAE949B09784. html
Yet, if you look for the Videomerge "Invert Selection" option in version 9, it is not there, whereas it is actually there in versions 7 and 8. Often Videomerge is referred to as an automatic ChromaKey (Effects/Video Effects/Keying/ChromaKey). None of the versions have the "Invert Selection" for ChromaKey. So that is not in question here.
Steve Grisetti or anyone else ever notice this and is there an explanation for what happened to "Invert Selection" for Videomerge in Premiere Elements 9?
Thanks for any input on this matter which was originally brought up by another user at another forum.

    Robert J Johnston
I was and am fully aware of keyframing/keyframing effects et al, Show Clip Keyframes and track content yellow line and typically all that goes with that. What I was unfamiliar with was your term "envelope" that you used to describe a Premiere Elements track  feature that I had seen previously here and elsewhere for Premiere Elements only as yellow band, yellow rubberband, Opacity yellow band (for video track), or Volume yellow band (for audio track).
Your last response motivated me to look deeper into what you could be referring to as envelope and therein evolved the amazing situation to which you referred. Typically if you click drag that Opacity "yellow band" to different positions, you can adjust the Opacity of the highlighted video clip between 0 to 100% to see the value at the track level as well as in Properties Panel/Opacity Panel, That is the case even after you have applied the Videomerge effect to that clip without going near the Show Clip Keyframes/Videomerge/Invert Selection. But once you do select Invert Selection via Show Clip Keyframes/Video Merge, then, when you move the Opacity "yellow band", that Opacity "yellow band" targets at its lowest level "Invert Selection" OFF and the upper level "Invert Selection ON. Now the "Opacity" adjust (classic role of the yellow band of video track) is not doable at the track level or is it reflected in any changes in Propertes Palette/Opacity Panel for this highlighted clip.
Exploration and experimentation follows after you discover this unexpected and previously undocumented situation. And, for me, there are a lot of what if I do this or that to look into here,
I need to do the exploration and experimentation. I think I got your message fully now. If I have further misinterpreted it, please let me know.
Many thanks for posting this interesting information.

  • Premiere Elements 12: What happened to Playback Settings?

Cep has posted a thread today asking where are the "Playback Settings" choices that were present in Premiere Elements 11 in two places
    a. Edit Menu/Project Settings/General as a Playback Settings button
    and
    b. The Playback Settings dialog that appeared after right clicking the Edit Mode monitor and selecting Playback Settings.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5779204#5779204
The Playback Settings button is gone completely from the Project Settings location; whereas, the Playback Settings choice in the monitor area is still there but greyed out.
I have confirmed Cep's results with Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7 64 bit as well as Windows 8 64 bit (the operating system that Cep is using).
We both have Premiere Elements 11 and Playback Settings in both locations cited are still alive and well there.
Does anyone from Adobe or elsewhere have an explanation for this. I have not found any related information in the Premiere Elements 12 Help PDF and have explored and experimented with alternate locations for Playback Settings in version 12. No luck.
Looking forward to follow up on this.  What am I overlooking in the search for Playback Settings?
    Thanks.

Add On...As one point of reference, please note Adobe's write up on "Preview on a TV Monitor"
    https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/previewing-movies.html

    Update....
No word from Adobe who would know for sure, but...
On a lead from a Premiere Pro CS6 thread that run into missing  Playback Settings or grayed out Playback Settings in Premiere Pro CS6 version as well, we tried creating the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+P to access a possibily hidden "Playback Settings", no success. (See Premiere Elements 12 Windows 7 or 8 64 bit, Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Monitor Window/Playback Settings.)
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4412697
At this point, the Playback Settings button in preferences and the Playback Settings choice in the monitor as we knew them in Premiere Elements 11 appear to be gone.
    More later.
