Premiere Elements 7 Crashes on Startup
The programme has been working fine for about 2 months but, as of last night, my copy of Premiere Elements 7 has started crashing on startup...it gets through the load screen and gives me the usual options to open an existing project or a new project etc--but as soon as the editing workspace opens, I get an error message and the programme closes. If it helps anyone, the reported details of the crash are:
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0

If it's significant, the fault appeared on my first attempt to open the programme after Adobe Updater told me there were updates available and I let it go ahead...I wonder if something became corrupted in that process.
If anyone has any fixes based on the above, I'd be grateful. However, I'm more than willing to just reinstall (I still have the original download files available on my computer) but, before I try this, want to make sure I will be able to re-register my copy when I have done the reinstall (I have all the codes etc.). Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I've used Audition for ages and know people have had problems registering again if they've been unable to unregister a copy before starting again...I don't know if Premiere Elements 7 is the same but want to make sure I have my "ducks in a row" before starting a process I might regret.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Bob
Well, I've solved it without re-installing but I'm surprised at what caused the trouble.
There was a faulty .avi file in the directory I've nominated for storing my source video and audio. (I'd started to transfer a large file, realised it was the wrong one and stopped the transfer before it was complete.) Deleting this one file has the programme working properly again. I mention it in case it helps anyone else in the future but I'm surprised something so basic could cause a crash.
Thanks for the advice that reinstalling isn't a problem...good to know just in case I ever have to.

Premiere elements crashes when burning a DVD
I'm trying to burn a slide show I've created. It's a mixture of photoshop elements photo slideshow and edited videos, about 30 minutes long.
But every time I try and burn it to DVD, premiere elements crashes. It generally gets to about 30% through the encoding media stage.
Has anyone else come across this problem? I thought it might be related to virtual memory, but I've increased this, and it's not had an effect. I'm running it on a laptop with 4Gb RAM, so RAM shouldn't hopefully be a problem.
When trying to burn, i've also tried to reduce the quality so instead of using "Fit contents to available space" I've reduced the bit rate down to 5Mbps so the space required is just over 1.2Gb (it was originally about 2Gb).
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to resolve / diagnose this problem.
I've burnt several DVDs before without any problems, although they were mainly just photos
Thanks in advance
JThe easiest way to do this is with Photoshop (PS). I'm certain that PSElements can do it well also, but do not know what might be different. This is for Photoshop.
Place copies of your files into a folder. I use copies because I do not want anything to happen to my originals and play it extra safe. Add a sub-folder. I name mine something like "Final_PSD's,) etc. In PS, I have a series of Actions, to re-size to my common video formats. They are named things like, NTSC_Wide, NTSC_4-3, etc. The Action is set to Open the files, then change the size to the appropriate dimensions and assign the correct PAR for that Project, such as my NTSC_4-3 gets a PAR of 0.9. The Action then does a Save_As. I keep .PSD's as .PSD's, but JPEG would work well too.
In PS, I go to File>Automate>Batch Process. This brings up a dialog screen, where I choose the Action that I want to run, NTSC-4-3 in this case. I direct the program to the Source Folder and the appropriate Destination Folder, my "Final_PSD's" in this case. If I have the sub-folder targeted for the Destination Folder, I leave the file naming conventions the same. I check Bypass Open command, as I do not need to see the work being done. Check over everything. Hit OK, and in a few minutes, I can re-size hundreds of files. Time will depend on one's system, and also on the size of the Target Files.
I feel that there WILL be differences in PSE, but someone else will have to fill in that info. It has also been pointed out that the freeware image processor and cataloging program Irfanview cand do batch re-sizing quite well. This might be an option. I do not use it for such, so I cannot comment.
Good luck,

Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements Crash When Open Together?
Anyone have a problem with Premiere Pro & Premiere Elements crashing when open together?
I have PE10 and am doing a trial of Premiere Pro CS6.
Both crash fairly quickly when open together.
i7 2600K
Windows 7 64 Bit
16GB RAM
GTX 470
Corsair AT 850 Watt PSU
Thanks! The first thiing that comes to my mind is a resources issue. As you have a stout computer, with more than adequate RAM, unless something is failing (like a stick of RAM), or perhaps the GPU, I would not expect to see what you observe. On a much less powerful machine, I have no problem running PrPro, Encore, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a word processor, all at the same time.
I would look into this ARTICLE, which starts with some general tips on setting up one's computer for running PrE, and then goes into system and OS tune-up tips (this is probably where I would start, if the intitial checklist looks OK), and then goes into troubleshooting. I would definitely look here, and especially using Event Viewer to try and track down what is happening, when the crashes occur, and also the one on tools to test RAM, GPU's, etc.).
Good luck,

Adobe Premiere Elements crashes on export
Hello,
I am working on a video project in Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. My computer is a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Dell XPS M1530 laptop with the following hardware:
Toshiba MK3263GSX Disk Drive
285 GB, 149 GB used
burst transfer rate: 3 MBps
5400 RPM
8 MB cache
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8300
2.40 GHz
4.00 GB of RAM
Whenever I try to export my project (which is less than 3 minutes long and contains no more than 2.25 GB of 720p 30fps video), the program crashes. Usually, the progress bar will go about half way before an Adobe message tells me that Premiere is running low on system memory. Not long after that, a Windows message appears telling me that "Adobe Premiere Elements has stopped working" and it crashes to the desktop. This has occured without fail perhaps 50 times in all my tries to get this to save.
As this project has progressed and become larger and larger, it has become more and more difficult to export. At first, there were no problems. Then, I had to start restarting the program or my computer immediately before exporting. After making a few more changes and additions, I have been entirely unable to export succesfully.
I have set my export settings at far lower levels than would be acceptable for this project, but the program still crashes. I was most recently trying to save the file as an .mpg with the NSTC Widescreen DVD settings. Trying to save in other file formats and at other settings has not been succesful.
I do realize that this is probably a commonly asked question, so I apoligize for bringing it up again. I have searched for information on this topic and have tried several suggestions, including changing the virtual memory and cleaning up my hard drive.
Is my computer just too weak to export this project? Would a more recent program fix my problem? Are there any techniques or suggestions I should try?
Thank you very much for your help.>chose setting NTSC HDV

Adobe Premiere CS5 Crashes at startup and cannot update
My Premiere pro CS5 keeps crashing at startup and I tried to update it but it says “inapplicable” and won’t allow update....
I tried uninstalling as well but still doesnt work....For the first issue, try this:
Go to the following locations
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces and keyboard shortcuts.
For the second issue, try this:
If you succeed to launch Premiere Pro, Go to Help > Updates and try to update from there. If you are not able to launch Premiere Pro and have any other CS5 app such as After Effects, open that and go to Help > Updates and see if you are able to update from there.

Premiere elements crashes when trying to access the edit tab features
Hi. I've just loaded premiere elements and started up a new project. I was then browsing through the software to get an idea what it was about. When I clicked on the orange edit tab this gives access to the effects, transitions, titles, themes and clip art screens but when I click on the transitions icon the programme crashes. Everything else seems o.k. I've also tried accessing the transitions through Window - Transitions but it crashes. I suspected that it might just be that the programme hadn't installed properly so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Still same problem. I've a computer with core duo processor, 4Gb ram and 3Tb of hard disk with ample free space. Anybody had similar problems?
Thanks for the replies. I have an nvidia card so will try some of the suggestions and see if I have any luck.
Will let you know.
Thanks again

Premiere Elements crashes after 2 min. what's going on?
I've been working with Premiere Elements about a month now. Initially it was very slow so I upgraded my memory and used Adobe's advice for optimal playback. That seemed to clear things up. However in the past couple days it will crash after about 2 minutes of being open. It never fails. Sometimes it will give me an error message and other times it will just freeze.
This is the error I'll sometimes get:
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Here are more details:

Programs running in the background:
LINK Client Manager
VIPRE Virus Protection

I've also attatched the DxDiag text file.
I haven't found any errors today, even though it has crashed several times, but I did find this error from last Friday (when all this crashing started happening):
These are the codecs for my file:
Here's the screenshot of my project:
Once I open that project, it has crashed within two minutes of it being open, even if I don't do anything. I don't have any special effects besides the titles. All I've been doing with this project is rearrange files within the timeline. So far I haven't had problems with other projects or files, but my other projects are under 1 minute and I have spent the majority of my time on this project and file.
What happens is the program sometimes just freezes (and I've let it sit to see if it would unfreeze itself, that works only about half the time). Other times it just shuts itself down with no error message. I've also received these two errors:
If I get the "Project Save Error" and I try to save it somewhere else, it still gives me the same error. The only way I can get out of that error is to shut down the program without saving.
This is what I've done so far:
Installed Windows updates (all critical updates installed except for Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3)
Updated QuickTime
Cleaned up start-up programs
Turned off indexing
Deleted temporary files
Ran system virus scans
Defragmented my C:\ drive
Set priority level for Premiere Elements to AboveNormal.
I save all of my files directly onto my computer (not the network drives)
Any other suggestions? -
Premiere Elements crashing upon start up
I have transferred my application of Premiere Elements 11 to my new iMac OS 10.9.2 but it will not open up. It starts the process but then it crashes every time. What can I try?
islantweet
Lots of just in case questions...
a. When your older iMac fried, did it trap your Premiere Elements 11 in it so that you could not deactivate it and uninstall it? Adobe allows for the same purchased serial number to be on no more of two of your computers. If this is the case, Adobe should be able to help you clear your account so that you do not have an activated program trapped on an unusable computer. If this applies to you, contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat on the topic of "Serial Numbers Issues or Activating My Product". Click on the following link and, when it opens, click on "Still Need Help? Contact Us." to bring up the Adobe Chat to work on the topic.
http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=premiere-elements&topic=serial-number-issues-o r-activating-my-product
b. Why are do describing these transfer paths for the Premiere Elements 11 Mac installation on the new computer? Did you purchase Premiere Elements 11 in boxed packaging so that you have a Mac installation disc or did you purchase Mac installation files from a download from Amazon? If you have a purchased serial number for Premiere Elements 11 Mac, you can install from tryout files from the following web site and then insert your purchased serial number in them.
The key to success for this route is to read very carefully the "Note: Very Important Instructions" on that web page so that you do not receive an Access Denied message.

Premiere Elements crashes my PC
After many years of using Premiere Elements, a new problem - Premiere crashes my PC. I've renedered my project, no problem. Then, during the 'burn' process, part-way through its assembling all the fragments prior to actually burning, the PC dies - every bit as effective as switching off the mains supply. Just a switched-off PC. Has anyone any ideas? [I'm Windows XP SP3, Premiere Elements 3]
Well, my PC man down the road gave the PC a good clean, re-
seated the boards, removed a bit of felt that was covering one of the fans
, and put in an extra 2 Gig of memory.
Now it goes from encoding through to burning and out the other end with no problem.
So, I guess it was probably hardware overheating?
Thank you all for your very rapid and useful posts - and the links to the articles.
Many thanks -
I've got a very simply project set up, which was working fine. But now when I want to edit it I get:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
The project is just 3 static images with 2 transitions. If I click on one of these elements a click 'properties' it crashes.
I've tried recreating the project from scratch but the same thing happens.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8Slim,
Welcome to the forum.
Though it is mostly PC-centric (that is all that I use), this ARTICLE might offer some tips, that will also apply to the Mac.
With crashes, where one only has Still Images, I would definitely look to John T's links, as one is always best doing all Still Image Scaling in PS, or PSElements, prior to Importing into PrE. Besides lowering the resource overhead when processing overly-large Still Images, the quality will also be improved.
Good luck, and please let us know a bit more about your Still Images, and the Project's Preset, chosen at New Project (per Steve's questions). Also, Steve is our resident Mac-guru, as he is fully X-platform, and can help translate the suggestions in my link above to that platform.

Any Suggestions??I just scanned a few threads citing this exception code. Most often, the problem is either a graphics driver or, more specifically, having both an integrated graphics chip and a graphics card. In the latter case, disabling the integrated chip generally solves the problem. Here's an especially illuminating thread on just how tricky it can be to be sure that the graphics card situation is all settled: Unable to launch Photoshop CC 2014 - igdfcl64.dll

Adobe Premiere CC crashes on startup - help!
I've gotten a brand new HP laptop, and installed Adobe Creative Cloud with Adobe Premiere. Every time I open Premier it crashes before it opens, or crashes after i do one task (save, import a file etc). I can't even start my project.
Anyone able to help? I have do do a video in several days for an event!
Laptop details:
AMD A8-4500M APU w HD Graphics (1.90 Ghz)
160GB ram
64 bit operating plus 64 based processor.
Thank you!!!Hi Bravetart,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Please open device manager and check under display adaptors, apart from AMD is there an entry for intel as well.
If yes, right click any where on the screen and choose AMD catalyst center and make sure Premiere Pro is set to high
performance instead of power saving. Also make sure all the drivers are up to date.

Premiere Pro crash on startup - Sony Vaio
Hi. I have had Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Trial version working for the past 4-5 days (~19 Nov 2014), but now it crashes on loading at the splash screen stage with the following signature. [Note it takes about 30-60 seconds to get to the splash screen when loading].
I've re-installed the video drivers (as per a previous post), but the problem isn't fixed. I haven't installed anything else except MediaFire, but this didn't cause the crash previously and don't allow it to load on boot. Windows 7 is updated fully again today. Will I have to do a clean boot and then see if PP works?
Any help appreciated.

Like others, I'd like to know what this dll is, before deleting it completely.
I'll keep searching Google. Many of Google links head back to sites similar to this one without any info on what the DLL is for.
(I generally know what a DLL is). Perhaps it is linked to an AMD CPU (I don't have) or GPU (I doubt I have). -
On several occasions while editinng a video, PE 2 has crashed. The message that appears is Premeire Elements has encountered an error
[..\..\Src\Marker\Marker.cpp-187]. I had just highlighted a video clip & went to the toolbar. As I clicked on the "clip" tab, This message appeared and then the program shut down.
ThanksYou're most welcome.
When you have gathered the "clues," please let us know the results. My hope is that something in those clues will be fairly obvious and can be directly addressed and remedied easily. Often, it will be an issue with a driver, or with some program not accurately reporting its memory usage. These are common causes, though tracking them down can involve some real detective work.
Along these lines, this ARTICLE will list some ways to eliminate (both permanently and also temorarily) some of the potential problems and also free up the greatest amount of available resources for editing work.
This ARTICLE, from the FAQ section, will help with the optimization of Vista.
