Premiere Elements 7 - "Multiplexing has Failed" (on export to h.264 1920x1080i30)

New to the forum. I have the PSE7/PRE7 bundle I purchased and downloaded direct from Adobe a couple of weeks ago. I also have a Canon HF100 AVCHD Camcorder.
My problem is this. Whenever I attempt to render one of my camcorder clips (AVCHD .MTS files) that I've dropped in the timeline using the "h.264 1920x1080i 30" share option, it gets all the way through the rendering process and then with 5 seconds left, I get a "Multiplexing has failed" error and it fails to complete the rendering job. The clips are shot at 1920x1080 60i at 17MB/s. I import the clips and attempt the render in the 1920x1080i 30 (not 5.1) "preset".
I cannot for the life of me figure out the problem. I called tech support and the best they could suggest was to have me re-install PRE7...which I did...twice...and the problem persists.
I'm running 32-bit Vista Ultimate on a Dell D820 notebook with a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB RAM, a 320GB 7200RPM HDD, and a 512MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120 Video Card, so processing power shouldn't be the problem. In fact I can render in every other format I've tried without issue.
Other potentially relevant software installed (although I've uninstalled all of this in an attempt to see if they were causing problems, and the problem persists whether or not they're installed) include QuickTime 7, Nero 9, and Pixella ImageMixer 3 SE (the software that came with the HF100 which I don't use, but installed solely to provide the codec to view the .MTS files in WMP11 and in the PSE7 organizer).
Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance!

Ozpeter, "PE7 - AVCHD user's first look" #13, 5 Oct 2008 2:29 am might point to a workaround - don't multiplex in PE7, use the 'tsMuxeR' free small 3rd party package to do that afterwards (and then you can burn an AVCHD DVD using imgBurn).

  • Multiplexing has failed

While sharing the project and rendering it to USB (16G pen drive) I got the message "Multiplexing has failed". What does this mean? Could someone help please.
    Andrew

When one Exports/Shares a multiplexed AV file, there are initially the two elemental streams produced - one audio-only and one video-only. Then, these are muxed (multiplexed, per the setting in the Share/Export choice). This creates a single, audio and video file, and the elemental streams are eliminated, as they are no longer needed. You end up with just one file. If the computer cannot complete the assembly of the elemental streams, you get that error message.
Now, Sharing to any USB device can be troublesome, at best. Steve's advice to Share/Export to the computer's HDD is best. Then, just use Windows Explorer/My Computer to Move that completed file to the USB device.
What often happens with the very slow stream of USB is that the device cannot keep up. One often gets read/write errors. The most common is the Delayed Write error. When they first came out, I tried to edit to/from USB externals, and encountered so many of these errors, that I gave up. A bit of research indicated that many, many more had them, as well. Besides being slow, they were trouble-prone. It was not until the release of FW-800 (IEEE-1394b) devices, that I found that I could edit to/from.
    Hope that this helps,

  • Installation of Adobe Premiere Elements 12 always fails

During the installation of my Adobe Premiere Elements 12, I always receive an error message (during the processing of linked components) which says:" During the installation an error has occured."
I have purchased Adobe Premiere Elements online and use the appropriate key provided by the retailer.
My Adobe Premiere Elements 10 works fine though but I would rather like to get my new program going.
I have tried all Adobe error correction proposels already but unfortunately in vain.
    Any suggestions how to proceed?

Thanks for your fast reply. I have already solved the problem and everything works fine.

  • New error message in rendering: "Multiplexing has failed. Please recheck settings and try again"

Rendering part 2 of two part movie to AVCHD M2T1980x1020p24 for burning blu-ray. Part 1was fine and was similar in size, complexity and content to part 2  (part 2 is just the continuation and more of the same). I don't know why this problem would start now, but now I started getting one of two messages:
"Multiplexing has failed. Please recheck settings..."
    or
"Compiling movie has failed. Unknown error."
    The program subsequently crashes /quits.

These may help... or they may not, since at least one is for PPro, but there may be some ideas to help your problem

  • "Adobe Premiere Elements 13 has stopped working"

I got a copy of Premiere Elements 13 on "Black Friday" (one month ago).  I am using stabilization and sometimes get "Adobe Premiere Elements 13 has stopped working".  I have been guessing at the problem and run several experiments - one being; stabilize a clip in it's own project and create an MP4 to use in the final project.  The latest clip seems to render fine, but crashes on playback (sometimes this happened on version 12 but not so consistently and often.  I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium, with 6GB RAM, 3.30GHz, Intel Core i3 - 4 core processor.  I use two monitors with the built-in video hardware.  Rendering max's out all four cores while stabilization taxes the RAM.  Where can I look to find out more details about this problem (only guessing with anything less)?  Thanks for the help.

    Ray
Thanks for the reply with further details and results.
The generalization is that you (manually) or the project (automatically) sets the project preset to match the properties of the source media.
But, if you have more than one format to import, you can still import that "atypical" format into the project (a project cannot have more than one project preset). But, the Shake Stabilizer will not stabilize it since it's properties do not match the description of the project preset. You can easily understand this by looking at the description of the project preset that has been set for the project and comparing it with specification of your video source. But, I have not yet found that such a situation creates a project/program "stopped working" as in shutting down the project/program.
I suspect a major factor when you run into a Shake Stabilized induced project/program shutdown is computer resource demands of the feature for the video which is requiring the stabilization. And, I have found that the stabilization times can be long.
Consequently, if the Shake Stabilizer does not cause the project/program to shutdown when asked to stabilize a video clip (without other effects). I am very guarded in the outcome, especially stabilization times, when the Shake Stabilizer is asked to stabilize a video clip to which other effects have already been applied.
We will looking forward to your results.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe premiere elements 13 has stopped working message

Every time I open adobe premiere elements 13 and download any form of media, in about every 2-3 minutes when i'm editing my video, A message will come up stating that "Adobe Premiere Elements 13 has stopped working." It forces me to close the application. I went to a computer expert and he said that my computer meets all the requirements of the software and even exceeds some of them since it's only 2 years old. Why does this keep on happening to me and how do I fix it?

    senseimike
Premiere Elements 13 on what computer operating system?
Have you updated 13 to 13.1 using an opened project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
    Now the usual drill questions...
    1. Do the problems exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
    2. Are you running the program as Administrator?
    3. Are you using a pen and tablet device instead of a mouse?
    4. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card. According
to the Device Manager/Display Adapters, how many video cards/graphics cards is your computer using? Are you running
    a multi- monitor system?
    5. Is the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
    6. What are the properties of your source media including file extension and duration? Knowing brand/model/settings of the camera that
recorded the videos is probably the quickest way to get at that needed information. What project preset are you (manually) or the project
    (automatically) setting?
    7. What specific edits are you doing in the project when the program crashes/shuts down? Is there any consistency to the "stopped working"?
You talk about every 2 or 3 minutes in the workflow. But what is the size of the project by the time the problems set in....2 or 3 minutes
from the time you started the project or 2 or 3 minutes after you have been working on the project for 10 to 90 minutes?
Please review and consider the above, and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working

Actually it has not worked yet.
I just installed the Premiere Elements 10 -  again, followed all the details.
My laptop is Acer Iconia 6102 dual screen touchbook
    Windows 7, Intel Core i5 CPU M480@ 2.67GHz, sys mem= 4gb
Toshiba MK6465GSX disk drive, Intel HD Gaphics
    The computer is new.
The dialogue says that Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working and will shut down.

This machine has only the one drive listed, nothing hidden. 512 gb free, removed some unecessary files. I did manual updates for the hardware and all software, everything is up to date. Went through the preceeding steps. There was no need to scan suorce files, I have nothing uploaded. The program will not complete its startup. The splash page pops up,dialogue flashes all the drivers and files being loaded, then quits. Does not open. The Organizer opens, but I still cant get PE to open thru it either. My computer wont allow me to change resolution. Could the fact that this machine is touch screen, dual display have anything to do with it? Using up too much resources? The resuorce monitor is idle @ 0. My Windows Movie Maker works fine.

I tried to get background information on the video from your camera but all I could find so far is that the camera is probably recording
1080p (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 or 30 progressive frames per second. What are you (manually) or the program (automatically) setting as the project
preset to match the properties of your video source. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio even if the fields look grayed out.
How are you importing the files into the Premiere Elements 13 project - with the Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from a computer
hard drive location or are you making a USB connection between the camera and computer/Premiere Elements 13 and using Add Media/Video ..../Video Importer? Could you possibly have changed the way you are importing the files into a project?
Would it be possible for you to send a small sample of one of these .mov files that will no longer import? Maybe in a Dropbox link that you include in a reply?
Do you have any of the older files still available - the ones that did import at one time? If so, will they still import into a project or do they now not import?
    More later.

Where are you getting your information on
Try to recreate the preferences for premiere elements
and using the following path to do that.
    For windows C:\Users\Usename\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Elements 12.0
You are the second one today who seems to be off the path. Either that, or you know of a new approach to "resetting the preference for premiere elements" using the the Logs Folder and Trace Dalabase.txt file in the 12.0 folder in the Premiere Elements 12.0 Folder.
The path that I find is
    C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the following
    Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
Here you have the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you can delete. And, if that does not work, you can delete the whole Premiere Elements Folder in which the 12.0 Folder exists.
The Adobe Folder in the above path also contains a Premiere Elements 12.0 Folder which contains a 12 Folder. This particular 12 Folder contents look like this
Even Adobe documentation seem to acknowledge the way to the "preferences" that we are.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/preference-file-locations-photoshop-elements. html#main_Premiere_Elements_preferences_
even though the document cites an earlier version than 12.
But, I have actually looked at the computer files for Premiere Elements 4 through 12 and see what I am reporting. Have you checked these computer files first hand?
If I am misinterpreting what you and the other person today are posting here, please accept my apologizes but explain the rationale behind your approach.

  • Premiere Elements 11 application fail

Recently purchased Premiere Elements 11 as an upgrade to Elements 9 installed on my windows 7, core i5 PC. The application seemed to install OK but the desktop short cut failed as did trying to activate from c:/programs/adobe. I uninstalled and downloaded again - fail. I followed one of the question strings on Adobe Community and found out about dependency walker. I downloaded the program, did a dependency check and recieved the following warnings:
Error: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a mising export function in an implicitly depended module.
Error: Modules with differnt CPU types were found.
Warning: At least one module has an unresolved inport due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module.
I am not a technocrat. I am a basic consumer. I have no idea what this means or how to fix it.  Do I need a computer expert to sort this problem out?

Thank you for the response Jeff. I do not receive any error messages from Premiere Elements. The install process appeared to work ok. I got the standard sort of prompt commands, the install program selected the directory in C drive, the install program set up the shortcut icon on the desktop and I clicked finish at the end.  There was nothing obvious to indicate an install problem - but the application fails to activate when the shortcut is clicked or if I select the program through windows, start button, all programs, premiere elements.
Dependency Walker is a free program for Microsoft Windows used to list the imported and exported functions of a portable executable file. It also displays a recursive tree of all the dependencies of the executable file (all the files it requires to run). The program was suggested for use in one of the Adobe community forums discussion threads. I used it, it told me there were errors, they mean nothing to me as a non-technocrat and I dont know where ot go next. However, I will try the troubleshoot-install-logs link you included and see if that gets me closer to a solution. Thanks again.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 hangs while exporting and during peak file generation.

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 (PRE7). I have a project which is using a single clip from a Mini-DV that was captured with Nero 8. Nero 8 was used because it was captured prior to installing PRE7. The file is 12GB and is on a USB disk drive because I don't have the space on my main hard drive (I have about 11GB free). My project doesn't do too much that's fancy. It merely uses about 20 minutes of the 60 minute Mini-DV captured AVI, and it uses simple transitions between each scene. I also have very simple titles at start and end. No themes or anything else.
I've seen two problems. 1) While editing the project, seemingly (but I'm not positive it's related) while the peek file was being generated, PRE7 would get into a state of using about 40% to 50% CPU, and it would not let me do anything else. The other problem, 2) While using "Share" to export the video to WMA for playback on PC (about 180MB estimated file size according to Adobe), the file is exported to about the last remaining 5 seconds, but then PRE7 goes into that mode of hanging with 40% to 50% CPU usage.
One time when it had this 50% CPU issue, I let it sit overnight, and the export was finished in the morning. The export that time was to a 90MB FLV for posting to the "web" according to the Share wizard. But when I was doing the above (issue #2), it went into the 50% CPU usage but didn't finish after waiting around 2 hours. Even if I were to let it sit that time, and it were to finish, it seems like something's wrong and that this is unacceptable.
When this happens, and PRE7 goes into 50% CPU utilization, there is no pacifier or percentage bar advancing. It usually happens near 100% finished. Only one time did it complete successfully after leaving it unattended at 90% complete for an extraordinary amount of time.
    To recap:
    C:\ hard drive ---> PRE7, my project.
E:\ USB drive ---> 12GB source AVI file and destination for export.
I saw elsewhere on this forum that someone imported a mini-dv captured AVI into Window Movie Maker and then exported it to Mini-DV from that app. This solved that person's problem with hanging during peak file creation. I had the 50% hang issue during peak file generation but I'm not sure it was related to peak file generation. A peak file was generated in a project which, when exported with share as mentioned above, still did the hang 50% CPU issue. Regardless, I will try the import/export/movemaker thing and report back but I've been trying enough things that I wanted to take a second to ask for assistance.
Does anyone have this issue, and is there a patch or fix?
I might be able to provide a user mode dump of the 50% CPU adobe process. There is some call stack information and I'm wondering if developers would want this info if they don't already have a solution/fix to this bug.
    Thanks for any help.

I have some more info on the hang which I've been experiencing during export/share of a project which uses an AVI as its one main clip. Adobe Premiere Elements 7 (PRE7) appears to be hanging because it's looping endlessly in ImporterAVI.prm. I'm wondering if this info can be passed onto Adobe developers and/or if I can submit this information elsewhere for such processing. I also have a process dump file which might be helpful, not to mention the original project files.
I used Process Monitor to help analyze this situation, and prior to PRE7 getting into the endless loop, it appears to be reading from the AVI file little by little, and WMEncodingHelper.exe is writing out little by little to the destination file, both of which I would expect. When PRE7 gets to the end of the import/export, Process Monitor appears to show all the aforementioned disk activity ceasing. I see neither process reading or writing. This would be normal if the share/export procedure had completed. But PRE7 is not complete. It is hung and is operating at 50% CPU utilization.
Far below in this post are technical details which may be helpful to an Adobe developer determine why the importer could get into this endless loop. In those details, there is a jump instruction, "jb ImporterAVI!xImportEntry+0xf32", which will always jump if a particular compare always turns out a certain way. But in my review of the counters being compared, it never will get to a point of exiting. When I modify a flag (the carry flag) to be 0, the loop exits. When I did this, my export/share of my project completed successfully. So it was done, but for some reason, PRE7 was looping and looping in its AVI importor instead of completing the export (aka "Share").
I cannot say that this certainly indicates a bug with PRE7, but it seems to me that there's enough data for Adobe to be at least investigating this particular issue. I'm not the only person who has seen this as there was at least one other message describing the same problem which the user resolved by effectively re-creating the AVI file via a no-op import/export into and out of MovieMaker. My AVI also goes through MovieMaker, import/export, without a hitch.
In a sense, I view PRE7's "share" as essentially an import, processing of imported information (i.e., effects and transitions), and an export. It's an import of all clips into the project at the right times, a processing of all effects, and finally an export to a destination. I realize this is simplistic, but the point I'm making is I have a simple project with a single AVI, and it appears that the "import" portion of PRE7's Share option is choking on the only clip used by this project. I also don't have much but simple transitions and a beginning/ending title on the project, so I'm not thinking this use of PRE7 is much more than what I'm doing with MovieMaker when importing/exporting this AVI.
I fully agree that optimum hardware can be either required or critical for certain types of video editing, but PRE7 is a consumer program and I'm not using anything extensive about it and the symptoms are that PRE7 is looping on its import of a file other programs don't have a problem with. I already tried purchasing a 1TB external, which I'm glad I did, but I really think Adobe developers should look at this issue. There may be a problem with handling certain AVI clips used in a project when those clips come from certain sources. If there is an issue, perhaps it could warrant a fix that would make PRE7 more compatible with these other clips.
Does Adobe have a procedure for people to upload (or mail) projects and files to it so that they can troubleshoot why the importer gets into this state? I also mentioned earlier that I have a full user-mode dump of the process which may be of value to a dev. Can I submit this information anywhere?
    Here are textual technical details:
    Plug-in which loops: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0\Plug-ins\en_US\ImporterAVI.prm
The following are the instructions at the "bottom" of the loop which never ends. Below, I put "***" at the jump instruction I mentioned earler. If I force the carry flag to be 0 at that point, and the jump is skipped, the export completed successfully. Additionally, notice that [esp-0x1c] is 0x2000, and that both eax and edi are 0. When I see it loop, eax stays at 0 and never reaches 0x2000. I wonder if something about the AVI is causing values used by this importer to be such that it causes this endless loop, and if that's the case, and if such values are valid/good, I'm wondering if the importer can be fixed by being able to detect such values so as to not choke (if in fact it's an importer issue).

  • Premiere Elements 11 stops responding at Exporter Quick Time Host.Bundle. Can this be fix?

I'm having a problem with my Premiere Elements 11 which has start happening recently. This problem occurs after I sucessfully open & close any of my projects in Premiere Elements 11. After closing Premiere and trying to go back on it when I want to use it again it stops responding when it reaches Exporter Quick Time Host.bundle. I have a OSX version 10.8.4 and QuickTime Player version 10.2. Does anyone know if this problem can be fix?

The footage that's in the project that I'm working on is from 2 different camcorders. One is a Sony DCR SR68 with the video format being MPEG-2 video, AC3 and its resolution being 720 x 480. The other camcorder is a Canon VIXIA HF R10 with the video format being AVCHD and its resolution being 1920 x 1080.
But here's the thing about the Canon camera. I got the videos from each other the camcorders into my computer by just copying the video files into a folder on my desktop. But here's the thing about the Canon camcorder, when I try to copy the videos from this camcorder I had to copy the whole folder which is named "PRIVATE" and the videos in this folder plays on the Quick Time Player.
When I started my project in Premiere Elements 11, I imported all the videos I copy into my computer into my project by going to Add Media > Files and Folders. The videos from Sony camcorder were mpg. and the videos from the Canon camcorder were mts.
I duplicated 2 of the videos from the "PRIVATE" folder by going into Quick Time Player > File > Duplicate. I imported these 2 videos into my project file the same way I did with the other videos. But I deleted the duplicated videos in my Project Asset panel yesterday when Premiere Elements was acting up.
Plus, my Premiere Elements 11 opens up without any stops/not responding because of this whole Exporter Quick Time Host.bundle after I restart my computer. I don't want to keep doing this since it's messing up my work flow. And that's what's going on.

  • Premiere elements 11 crashes computer on export

So I install premiere elements 11 today to my 64bit windows 7 system that has plenty of power to deal with video editing. I import some high quality video from my canon 550d.
I'm having a great time editing living the adobe dream I finish my project and go to export to Facebook in Facebook HD it renders fine but when it gets to end of the upload it crashes my computer.
This happens where even I try to export to. Even just as a file on my computer.
    Please help

"This happens where even I try to export to"
Are you saying that if you use Publish & Share/Computer/AVCHD, your computer crashes?
If so, have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have the hidden or non-critical updates, which do not update automatically?
Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
Have you run Disk Cleanup and the Defragmenter?
Can you give us more specific information on your processor, RAM and hard drive free space? "Plenty of power" doesn't really telll us much.
