Premiere Elements 7 - size of my video is too big

Hi - when I import a clip to the timeline and play it, it only shows about 50% of the size of the clip - in other words it is "zoomed in".
I can find a 'magnification' option in the main preview window but that just alters the display size.
How can I get my video to 'shrink down' please?
Thanks.

Actually, when you chose New Project, you did use a Project Preset. That needs to match your source footage 100%, or there will be problems.
It seems that most of your source footage does match, at least pretty well. It also seems that these two Clips are not the same Frame Size as the other Clips. You can check this out by downloading and installing the great, free utility, G-SPOT, and dragging one each of your two different files into it. G-Spot will give you the full details on each of these files.
For the files that are showing too large, you have only three choices:
1.) Leave them magnified in your video Frame - do not think that this will work for your intents.
2.) Convert those files to match the Frame Size of the other source files, outside of PrE
3.) Scale the large source files in PrE internally
A.) Check Scale to Frame Size and let the program just Scale the footage down to match your Project's Frame Size
B.) Go to Effects, and with the offending Clip Selected, choose Edit Effect. There, you will see the fixed Effects (appear on every Clip), and choose      Motion>Scale, adjusting that per your needs. This is useful if you would like just a little magnification, but do need to Scale down a bit.
Hope that this helps, and please let us know what G-Spot says about your source Clip's Frame Size. It is probably easiest to post a screen-cap of each file in G-Spot, as that will save you having to copy a lot of info.
Good luck,
Hunt

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates?
    If not, please do so.
You have not given us enough information with which to help you.
What are the properties of your source file that is presenting in the project with audio but no video?
Quickest way to gain that information is from brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video.

  • Premiere Elements 7 won't render video

I cannot get Premiere Elements to finish rendering my video in AVI format.  I have tried multiple codecs.  I have done it on 2 computers with 4 gigs or RAM, and dual core processors made in the last 2-3 years.  One had Windows 7 and one had Windows Vista.  They both get to about 70-90% and then stop.  Windows Task Manager shows no CPU usage when this happens.  I usually give it 10-15 minutes and if no activity happens I kill it.  Is it normal for it to just hang on a random spot like this?  Maybe I need to give it more time, but it sure seems like it has stopped responding.
What can I do to fix this?  I could always try another format, but why won't this work?

Video is all local.  I have copied the project folder and all video to the new computer and then pointed everything to the right paths. The reason I had to do this is because it wouldn't render on the original computer. The only computer that can render it is my work computer that has Windows 7, a core 2 duo and 6 gigs of RAM.
I moved it to my wife's laptop this morning using the same method that allowed me to render it at work.  I previewed the whole video.  It ran through from beginning to end without a problem.  All scenes, music, transitions were there.  So, moving the project worked. Again, all video was local.
As far as "codec", I used the wrong term.  I think "encoder" is what I am changing.  I pick the format, then click settings, and change the drop down to different AVI Encoders.  I only started changing this after my initial attempts to render failed, so I tried the defaults first.  In fact, I have tried the default settings no less than 3 times.  I also tried QuickTime H.264 and it had they actually failed with error messages that basically said "An Error Occurred" and that's it.
Below are screens of the problem when rendering AVI showing the rendering has stopped.  I also have uploaded my timeline.

  • How do I get premiere elements 13 to read the video of my .mov files?

Thanks for the reply. Glad that QuickTime install resolved the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 video playback problem.
When you double click any of the thumbnails for your .mov file in the Elements Organizer 13/13.1, does the Elements Organizer 13/13.1's player open to play back the .mov file contents for both video and audio?
    You wrote
in the browser, the preview is an audio file, not a QT preview.
I was not sure if you were just going by what appears in the thumbnail, namely film strip with music note, or whether you had gone through the actual playback there. In the Apple Pro Res footage that I have, I get the same thumbnails that you are seeing for Windows Explorer. In Elements Organizer 13/13.1, the thumbnail for my Apple Pro Res file is just a film strip on gray.
I think what you are seeing is "normal" for the situation. But, please verify your observation with 13 updated to 13.1 if you have not done that already.
    Thanks.

I'm a video editor and have published a site through iWeb. I have about 8 movie files on the site. The site never fully loads. Are my video files too big? If so, what would you recommend the average MB's should be?

  • Can't get Premiere Elements 9 to recognize my video

I have Premiere Elements 9 and I can't for the life of me figure out why it won't let me import video files that are already on my computer - like those from my FlipCam - with video. The audio is there but no video. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the format appears to be .avi.
Additionally, Elements does not recognize my Canon video camera (admittedly its a couple of years old) to capture video. After hooking it up to a firewire port and turn it on, Elements has no recognition that the camera is there.
    Please help!!
    Thank you

    Hi Steve and Hunt,
(Steve I sent this response to you before I realized I could respond to my initial post. Hopefully this will help generate some new ideas for my problems.)
Thank you for your response. Let me start by saying trouble shooting computer problems is not my specialty. So hopefully I'll be better able to answer your questions than my initial post. Steve and Hunt my responses to your questions below:
    1. When you started your Premiere Elements project, did you choose the correct settings for Flip video?
Not entirely sure. When I go to "get media" I click on the appropriate area I would like Premiere to get the video from. If there are other specifications I am not sure where to find them. Also I realized later that I was unclear about where I was getting the file from. It IS a flip video, but I was trying to pull it from a file already on my computer - NOT trying to directly import it from the flip camera. When I try to pull over these flip camera videos, Premiere pulls over the audio from it but NO video.
    2. Did you get your video into your project by connecting your camcorder to your computer and then using Get Media/From Flip AVCHD Hard Disk camcorder, which opens the Video Importer?
I tried, but am still not able to get video directly from the flip camera. Likewise am not able to pull the flip camera video from a file on my computer.
As for trying to capture video from my Canon mini DV video camera (model ZR90), the program doesn't recognize that my camera is there so I'm not able to capture any video. If it helps this camera is at least 5 years old.
Windows Movie Maker also does not recognize that my camera is there and turned on. Movie Maker though is able to pull the flip camera videos with video and audio onto its template
    3. Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
I just tonight downloaded a new version of Quicktime
    4. What operating system are you running?
    Windows XP
    5. As Steve asks, what is the Project Preset, and what are the full specs. of the files from the Flip, plus from your Cannon?
I'm not exactly sure what specs I should be looking for: size, frame rate? Is AVI movie file helpful at all?  I read the article but I'm still unsure about what details I should be looking for. Sorry .
Thanks for taking a look. Please let me know if you have any other questions for me

  • Why is Premiere elements 9 turning my imported video into clips?

    I'm merging two videos.
One person recorded the entire event from far away.  That is my video 1.  It is one single unbroken video.  The camera was NOT paused during recording.
Another person recorded parts from much closer.  This is video two.  These are closeups that I inserting over video 1.
I'm putting a clip in video two timeline, watching both side by side to make sure the audio and movements match, trimming each clip at same beginning and end points - and putting the video two clip into the video 1 timeline.
This was easy for the first 10 insertions as but suddenly Elements wants to break to the video 2 sections into several clips.  They're not.
Why was I able to move the first 10 video 2 clips from the organizer to the timeline just fine - each was entered as one continuous clip.   Now the clips are broken down further into sub-clips.  I'm NOT importing different clips and putting them together in timeline 2.  Each is one is a separate video.  Why is Adobe breaking them down further?

Okay, after numerous random program crashes the above problem went away and did not come back with subsequent crashes.
    Problem solved.
    Why use Moviemaker?
    - It is much simpler to use.
    - It does not crash frequently.
    - It creates simple videos just as well as elements.
Summary: Moviemaker is easier to use, more stable, but less functional (fewer bells and whistles).
Moviemaker can NOT be used with multiple video tracks.  If it had that capability I'd probably still be using it.
So now I have Premiere Elements 9.
    Next problem.
So I've spliced together my two videos into one.
To do this I had to reduce the display size of each video in the viewer to 1/2 size so I could watch each simultaneously to sync them and to determine which video was better to use. I'd watch one version in the upper left had corner and the other in the lower right.
By the way, it doesn't seem intelligent to have the multiple video tracks but make it so hard to display them side by side.
Now I'm on to creating the DVD menus.  The videos are still showing up at 1/2 size.
Will they show up that way on the DVD?  Do I need to go back and manually enlarge the hundreds of spliced clips to full size?  This would be difficult and time consuming. The fact that the videos enlarge from all sides makes it that much more difficult.  It would be nice if you could just shove it into one corner and pull it the the other corner.  Because it enlarges on all sides you have to center it tand then fiddle with it quite a bit to get it properly aligned on all four sides.

  • Premiere elements 12: how 2 burn video with menu on avchd disk with 1280x720

Hi, I have a source HD video (from TV) in resolution 1280x720/50. In export presets for avchd disk I only can find presets for 1440x1080 and 1920x1080. I'd like to export this video with menus in 1280x720 which is original resolution to AVCHD disk.
    How to handle?
    Regards, Juergen

    Juegen
No version of Premiere Elements lets you produce a DVD disc with or without menus with AVCHD format of 1280 x 720 at 50 progressive frames per second.
The burn to disc, DVD, AVCHD, and Blu-ray are offered as you found them.
You could burn your Premiere Elements 12 Timeline content to a file AVCHD.mp4 (720p50) via Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 - HD 720p50. And, then burn that file to a DVD disc as data disc if the disc capacity allowed. But you would not have any menus. Disc menus are offered only for burn to disc/burn to folder. And, important, stop markers do not function at playback of the Premiere Elements (any version) AVCHD DVD or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc.
Please let us know if you need clarification on anything written.
    Thank you.

  • How can I mkae a simple photo edit on premiere elements 12 without using the video feature?

I was told when I spent $1000+ on my HP and all the software that I would have what I needed to edit photos and/or edit videos. I am a yoga teacher so I am posting my classes online as videos, as podcasts, and I also need to edit some of my personal photos to use for marketing material. I can see where I edit photos for a video and incorporate them in that said video but Im also needing to just edit the photos but adding text. Nothing fancy. I just want to make some flyers.

    yogawithlexi,
    Welcome to the forum.
Im also needing to just edit the photos but adding text. Nothing fancy. I just want to make some flyers.
For editing photos, to be output to the printed page (whether by a commercial printing service, or a desktop printer), I strongly recommend Photoshop Elements (PsE).
If you need to output to a video file, then Premiere Elements (PrE) can possibly do what you want, but not for the printed page - at least not easily, and with the ultimate results. First, Video is not dependent on DPI/LPI (Dots Per Inch, or Lines Per Inch), where printed material will be. Also, while PrE can output a Still Image, the quality, when printed, will be far less, than what one can obtain with PsE.
Do you currently have Photoshop Elements on your computer, or only Premiere Elements?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere Elements 7 - Assistance with saving video's to MPEG4

    Hi guys,
I'm a new boy here sound if the question is stupid please forgive me. I have just got Premiere Elements 7 and I am trying to save a video in MPEG4 to put on my IPOD.
The video is saving OK but when I try and open it in Win Explorer the following error message comes up: Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie
If I drag and drop it into iIunes it goes in OK but when I press play a blank green screen comes up and although I can hear the sound there is no video.
I have not had this problem when saving to WMV format.
Any help will be gratefully received.
    Regards,
    Michael

I have the same green screen/erratic playback issue with Quicktime files created by Premiere Elements 7. I contacted Adobe and they said it's a known issue with Quicktime 7.5.5 and suggested installing an older version of Quicktime such as 7.4.5.
That works, but for some reason, Quicktime files created with Premiere Elements 4 don't have this problem. So I've been continuing to use PE4 to export my projects to Quicktime so that they will be compatible and viewable by the most viewers possible.

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 Files in video rendering misplaced.

I wasen't sure where to post this, but i'm having trouble with Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0
While editing a video in this program, I can add multiple videos to my hearts content. It looks good. But when I render out my video, no matter what the format, all the videos that I placed are scattered around randomly. Some only a few inches away from where I put it, some alot further. The only file that usually stays where I put it is the first video file I add into the presentation. Has anyone got anything to help solve this? I can't buy any newer versions of this program, As I am currently short for money, so that is not an option, Is there anything to help?

Just thought I'd just clear up a couple things, because I didn't really describe them very well D:
Any video files or pictures I use from any source, wether it be camera, or from the internet, always have the same problem
I use timeline view, as this is the only view that lets me add multiple videos in different layers. The original layer I use (Marked by the white in the picture below) always stays in the same place as I put it, but any other images or videos I resize or replace, get randomly moved about, as you can see in this two images V
    My original video file
To the right is what happens to my files when I export them, I've tried multiple formats, but always have the same results D:
Hope this extra info helped, and sorry for the random images used in the project, I just scrapped whatever I could find off my computer and used that

  • New Problem with Premiere Elements 8-Blue overlay over video

I'm still trying to begin using the trial version of Premiere Elements and have a new problem.  When I add video files to the project, they are displayed with a blue coating over the whole video when it is played, or in many cases it is just black with no video.  If I click in the screen, I see
the stopped video as it shoiuld be (clear), but as soon as I start playing the video, then nothing works. I hear the audio but the video is either black or has a blue overlay making it difficult  to even see what is on the screen.  I've tried changing to software rendering during playback with no help.  The program is unusable as it is.  I also have problems adding files to the project when I try to add from files and folders.  I can't select multiple files and when I try to add one at a time, the 2nd file replaces the first instead of being added.  I installed using the compatibility options in Win 7 because the application is listed as being incomaptible (even though Adobe claims it is Win 7 compatible.)  I would really love to have this program work.  Any suggestions.  I  have a fairly powerful computer except for the graphics being Intel integrated rather than a separate card.

To answer my own question, disabling "Enable GPU" seems to eliminate the blue overlay.  I found a reference to it on a page that previously was not available.

  • Premiere Elements 9 no longer supports video files from Nokia Lumia 920 (it used to do)!

I've edited many videos from the same phone (.mp4) with the same software before (last time was 8 months ago). Now the software claims that the "file format is not supported or the required codec is not installed". How can it be? I haven't uninstalled or installed any codecs. The phone is the same. I can still open the old projects on Premiere Elements. I need to get this fixed so I can edit my videos!

    nome2014
In the case that you are presenting, are you importing new Nokia video into a new project? You say that you can open old projects in Premiere Elements. Do the old projects contain Nokia video from the same camera? If so, open one of the old projects and try to import the new Nokia video into that old project. Imports or not?
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? Are you running the program as the 9.0.1 Update? If not, please do so either
    a. from Help Menu/Update in the opened project
    or
    b. from the 9.0.1 Update downloaded from Adobe online (Premiere Elements closed during download and installation).
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4929
I have just downloaded a sample from your Nokia Lumia 920 (1920 x 1080 @ 30 frames per second* AVCHD.mp4) and had no problems importing it into a new Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project set with the project preset of NTSC DSLR 1080p DSLR 1080p30.
    *Potential issues....
the Nokia video comes with a variable frame rate, in my case, 4.201 to 30.090, showing a value of 29.272. Premiere Elements (any version) is known to have issue with cell phone video recorded with a variable frame rate. The problem can manifest itself as audio out of sync or just not being able to import the video at all. Remedy...take the video into HandBrake and convert the variable to a constant frame rate.
    http://handbrake.fr/
Do you need a step by step how to on that? If so, we can supply one.
From what I have read, the Nokia can record with AVCHD video compression as well as MPEG-4. Both have a .mp4 file extension. Is what you used before the same video codec as you are using now? Please check the camera settings.
Please review and consider. You can post a sample of your problem video here as a Dropbox link, and I will road test it in my Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 that is working with a sample download from your brand/model cell phone.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 2.0 exports pixelated video

In Premiere Elements 2.0 when I export a project as wmv or quicktime, the video loses quality but is not pixelated. If I export as "microsoft avi" it comes out high quality except for any Premiere related effects such as a speed adjustment, added text, fade ins and fade outs. If the original imported clips are cut but otherwise unedited, there is no pixelation on those parts. If I render it all first, it looks fully pixelated. If I export to DVD or as an mpeg it's pixelated. Saving uncompressed makes a 4gig file that doesn't open properly. The wmv looks decent (only a little blurred) on a monitor but looks pixelated on a tv screen. How do I export the entire project without losing quality?

I made animations in flash, different shots to a whole animation as different files, and exported them as AVIs at 75 percent quality which still looks really good on screen. Then I imported each of the AVIs to edit together and add sounds and music in Premiere. My original flash workspace was 720 by 480 and I export at the same resolution from Flash and from Premiere. I can work on the project and export the avi at maximum quality with great results, BUT the parts of the animation that have been faded, sped up or slowed down are the parts will become pixelated, so I end up with a video that is partially crisp and partially rough.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Here is one still from the animation
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/thweatted/part1.png
and here is a still from the shot right after it.
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/thweatted/part2.png
Both of these stills are pulled from the same AVI. The only difference is that the 2nd shot was sped up slightly in the Premiere project and the 1st was not. I thought that maybe rendering before the export would help, but it doesn't.

  • Premiere Elements 12 Automatically Separates My Video Into Clips

Everytime I add media to Premiere Elements 12, it automatically gets separated into clips. I am working with video of people singing and these "automatic clips" cause a HUGE problem. They will be in the middle of a song and a word or two will get cut out. As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating!
I've gone ahead and started editing the video anyway. However, when I save the project and reopen it later, there are even more "automatic clips". I have spent hours working on this video, and now it is nearly unusable because almost every song has a few words missing. How can I remove these unwanted gaps and make my video one long, fluid, and uninterrupted clip?
    I would appreciate help.
    Thank you!

    AngHoot
What computer operating system are you running Premiere Elements 12 on? Assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now....
In the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, click on the Organizer Tab at the bottom to open the Elements Organizer 12.
When in the Elements Organizer 12, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Media Analysis and turn off all the options you see under that category, especially AutoAnalyzer options.
When AutoAnalyzer options are left on, the feature will split your video clips and "stack them". When and if you want to use the AutoAnalzyer feature, use it on an on demand basis only. Right click the media in Project Assets and select Run AutoAnalzyer.
The originals on the computer hard drive are unaffected by this unwanted happening. But, you cannot reverse what the AutoAnalzyer has done in the project and Elements Organizer. Instances of these "split stacked" media will need to be deleted and re-imported in Project Assets and Elements Organizer or just left as it.
This can happen in Premiere Elements (any version).
Please let us know if you are OK with the above and if it worked for you.
    Thank you.
