Premiere Elements 7 won't render video

I cannot get Premiere Elements to finish rendering my video in AVI format.  I have tried multiple codecs.  I have done it on 2 computers with 4 gigs or RAM, and dual core processors made in the last 2-3 years.  One had Windows 7 and one had Windows Vista.  They both get to about 70-90% and then stop.  Windows Task Manager shows no CPU usage when this happens.  I usually give it 10-15 minutes and if no activity happens I kill it.  Is it normal for it to just hang on a random spot like this?  Maybe I need to give it more time, but it sure seems like it has stopped responding.
What can I do to fix this?  I could always try another format, but why won't this work?

Video is all local.  I have copied the project folder and all video to the new computer and then pointed everything to the right paths. The reason I had to do this is because it wouldn't render on the original computer. The only computer that can render it is my work computer that has Windows 7, a core 2 duo and 6 gigs of RAM.
I moved it to my wife's laptop this morning using the same method that allowed me to render it at work.  I previewed the whole video.  It ran through from beginning to end without a problem.  All scenes, music, transitions were there.  So, moving the project worked. Again, all video was local.
As far as "codec", I used the wrong term.  I think "encoder" is what I am changing.  I pick the format, then click settings, and change the drop down to different AVI Encoders.  I only started changing this after my initial attempts to render failed, so I tried the defaults first.  In fact, I have tried the default settings no less than 3 times.  I also tried QuickTime H.264 and it had they actually failed with error messages that basically said "An Error Occurred" and that's it.
Below are screens of the problem when rendering AVI showing the rendering has stopped.  I also have uploaded my timeline.

  • I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync.  They work fine when played in Quicktime.

    Hello,
I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync as soon as I load it into the program.  It appears to work fine in Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. This is the plan.
Open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace.
In the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, select the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p30
OK out of there. In the New Project dialog that appears, note that it has your new project preset named.
Be sure to put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". And, then OK out of there.
Back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders to bring your video
into Project Assets. From Project Assets drag your video to the Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1.
Is there an orange line over the content in the Timeline. See screenshot for orange line to which I am referring.
There should be no colored line over the content if the project preset matches the video properties. But, if you do see
that orange line, then render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or press
the Render button above the Timeline.
Do your video/audio now play back in the Edit area monitor in sync?
Please let us know the result, and then we will decide what next.
    Thanks.

Please review and consider the following on detailed how to regarding obtaining the individual frames as jpegs from a video file.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/08/pe11-freeze-frames-single-or-more-than.html
The article applies to Premiere Elements 12 as well as 11.
    Just in case notes
    a. An important aspect of the Export to Sequence is that you create a folder beforehand to accept the huge number of Freeze Frame jpegs from video.
    b. An important aspect is that you find "Image" choice in the Publish+Share/Computer choices. Users often think that there are only 3 choices there, Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, and AVCHD (what they can see). There are more including Image further down the list. To go down the list
use the scroll bar to the right of the list
    or
click on Adobe Flash Video to select it (panel turns blue) and then use the down arrow key to move down the list.
Please let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Timeline won't render in Premiere Elements 12 (and music video editing advice)

I have a section of video I'm editing that won't render. I've read some similar threads but still have a question about how I can edit the clips to 'force' a render.
I'm running PE 12 on a Core i3 laptop running Windows 8, so not a huge amount of processing power. I don't have an orange line above the timeline over these clips and I understand PE has decided that it's already giving me the best possible preview quality and doesn't need to render this section. However, it's four quick edits in time to some music and when I preview it back my computer clearly can't process the video and audio fast enough because I get very jerky video so I can't verify that the cuts are perfectly aligned to the drum beats.
I've been exporting the whole four minutes just to review about five seconds of video in the middle to make sure it's synched, and this is getting really frustrating as I'm having to make frame by frame adjustments to improve the sync.
Is there anything I can do to each clip, like adjust an image setting, to force PE to give me an orange line and want to render this section?
Just as an aside to anyone who edits music video type clips - if you're making, say, four quick cuts to four drum beats in a bar, do you find the audio/visual sync works best if the cut is on the frame the drum beat attack starts on, or does it seem more natural if it's one or two frames after the initial attack so it's 'mid drum beat'? I'm tending to find just after the initial attack looks/sounds better for me - but maybe that's something to do with the delay in my PC processing the frame!
    Thanks for any advice,
    Chris.

    Chris
Please excuse the questions, but I did not want to take anything for granted...are you sure that you are looking above the Timeline content for the render indicator line? Assuming that you are OK with that.....
Are the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar placed so that they span the entire content of the Timeline, including this five second content which you say cannot be rendered. Remember rendering does not fix problems, rather it is a preview that helps you to realize that a problem exists sooner than later. Consequently, please confirm if an orange line persists over that five second content even if you press the Render key above the Timeline.
Have you expanded the Timeline content to the maximum with the Zoom Out Zoom In Slider above the Timeline get the best look at the content on the Timeline in contrast to get the best possible preview in the Edit area monitor?
Have you gone to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and set the Audio Display Format to Milliseconds if you are involved in audio edits?
Have you been nudging audio in sync with video using shortcuts, such as...
As you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, tap the left or right arrow key once (one tap = 1 frame nudge)
As you hold down the Shift+Alt keys of the computer main keyboard, tap the left or right arrow key once (one tap = 5 frames nudge)
I would suggest that exploration and experimentation are the best tools with which to work to achieve a specific effect for your specific
    situation.
Please review and then let us know if any of the above targets your questions about your workflow.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 11 wont render work area???

Hi, I'm having an issue with Premiere Elements 11.  I'm workng on a video project, and I need to render my timeline for smooth preview playback, but everytime I hit render, it just plays the timeline, without rendering anything.  That little box doesn't come up or anything.

For the couple that do have the orange line and rendered, that is normal. And, you are saying there are those with orange line over content, that will not? And, they are all supposed to be the same footage?
No, the ones that have the orange line as normal WILL render as normal.
There are several clips for this video, all recorded with the same settings with the same camera, but only 1 or 2 that will render properly. The others have no orange bar at the top like they should.
There are gray tabs in the WorkArea Bar above the Timeline. They should be spanning the content on the Timeline. Is any of your Timeline content no being spanned by the setting of these gray tabs of the WorkArea Bar?.
I'm afraid you lost me there. I'm not sure what you mean by "spanning'".
As for your workaround, what is your export choice and settings so that you get footage for a subsequent project, footage that performed better than the original?
    720P 29.97, H.264, AAC 48kHz  in quicktime format.
It renderd pretty much lossless (or if there is loss its so subtle that I can't see it)  But apperantly my system can handle it better that way then it can footage right off the iphone.
Have you taken the time to look at the properties that you are putting on the Timeline, such as, video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, progressive or interlaced, file extension, pixel aspect ratio and such? Your App needs some looking at. Does that iPhone have a variable frame rate? Lots of questions that may or may not have anything to do with this specific rendering issue, but probably do as regards the prognosis for your overall project.
The setting on my app is "1280x720" resolution, and 30 fps.  I can adjust fps down all the way to 1fps if I want to (idk why I'd want to do that, lol)  but I normaly shoot at 30, and thats what these where shot at.
If you have a screenshot of the Timeline track content that will not render (with the orange line over them), please post in your next post. It would be helpful to review your overall Timeline setup.

    http://imageshack.com/a/img266/6277/94g3.jpg
    Hope that helps.
Iphone won't edit easily because it uses a variable frame rate
    - A possible fix in message #22
Well, the app is set for 30fps.  Besides, that fix wont work cuz I don't have quicktime pro.

  • Premiere Elements 11 - poor render quality?

I was reading a review of Premiere Elements 11, and it was noted that PE11 had limited render options which can result in poor quality output files:
"Rendering quality is limited to the original format, which is usually consumer-grade and heavily compressed, so adding an effect can degrade the video quality in the final rendered version when viewed at full size, especially in fast-moving scenes. Changing the preferences to slower/better quality helps, but does not eliminate this problem."
    http://www.techhive.com/article/2010628/review-adobe-premiere-elements-11-offers-an-easy-f ast-and-simple-take-on-video-editing.html
Does anyone have any feedback on this? Are the rendering options limited?
I am currently downloading the trial to test it. I tried using the "Adobe Download Assistant" but the download speed was poor, so I had to switch to a scene release on a filehosting site instead (good one Adobe).
    thanks

Another season, another review, and again far from the facts. This is only slightly better than the outright dubious ones by some weirdos in the previous releases!!
I have just downloaded the trial version and have done "rendering" and "export" and so I have no clue what he is talking about!! I tried an AVCHD clip and changed the opacity so that it requires rendering. I also added Guassian Blur to get it to need render (It used to be a Red line till PrE10, it is Yellowish now..). What I noticed was that the rendering happened very quickly and the rendered file was 1/2 the height and 1/2 the width. I find that verrrrry convenient, because when someone does rendering, it is because they want to have a quick look at how the composition looks like with their effects, titles, transitions, PiPs etc. It is done only to get an idea of what it looks like and is in no way related to how the exported output will look like. To get a preview of that this quickly is a good feature. Then I noticed an option in the preferences where they have given the option to change the render quality and hence speed back to the Full Quality - Slower Speed. but you know what? I don't think the reviewer is even looking at this.
What he means is the exported output. The ones under Publish/Share tab in PrE11. In my tests I find that the render quality has no impact on the exported quality. I exported it to a AVCHD-1920x1080-30p preset and I found it to be just as good as it was in PrE10. Same file size and same bit rate, just to confirm. "Rendering is limited to the original format.." What does he mean? If he meant export, I can again confidently say that you can export the same AVCHD file to NTSC DV Standard, WMV (WMV9), QuickTime (MOV wrapper) and multiple other formats. The export presets can be chosen immaterial of the input videos/timeline. If he means rendering (The one where you hit "Enter" on the timeline), the format is and has been "All-I-Frame-MPEG2" - that is Fixed.
I can assure you that the quality of finished output has and will depend on the combination of choice of the file (it's properties), the project setting (that is automatic - again!), the export preset resolution and frame rate (choose this as close as the original for best results) and the bit rate (higher is better - mostly). And this is no different from PrE10, 9, 8, 7, ..... The very fact that PrE has been giving the user options and control and at the same time makes it easy for novices over the years, is good enough reason for me to continuously go for it.

  • Will Premiere Elements edit a HD video from a 5D Mark II

    Hello,
This may sound like a dumb question but I have been unable to determine it in my research so I thought I would ask. I am looking for a simple software to do minor edits on a HD video from my 5D Mark II. I really don't want to spend 500.00 on software right at the moment so I'm looking for a cheaper solution. Will Premiere Elements edit one of these videos? It seems like the Macs do the job but I don't have a Mac Any help would be appreciated.
    Kim

The bigger challenge isn't just that this is Quicktime video -- it's that this is video from a still camera, which often uses non-standard codecs to create more compact video files.
You can try to convert the video to DV-AVIs using one of the free tools listed in the FAQs to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
But you definitely won't be able to edit video directly from that camera in Premiere Elements without running into lots of problems.

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Elements 11 download my videos to my computer so slowly?

Hey guys, I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 11, for quite some time, and I noticed that its download speed is as slow as a turtle. I know it is not my download speed, because when I download files from the internet, or games, it goes as fast as anything. Just so you have more information, I will tell you have my recording/uploading process goes. First, I record the video (Using Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture). Then, I would send it to my video encoder. (Microsoft Expression Encoder 4). I would then encode the video, and send that output file to Adobe Premiere Elements 11 for further editing and to download it to my computer. Now, everything up to this point takes maybe 30 minutes. But when I get to Adobe, it takes more less 3 hours (give or take a few minutes). Finally, after all that waiting, I upload it to Youtube, which takes about an hour or so. My problem is Adobe is taking far to much time to install/download the video. And as a result of that, I can only put out about a video a day. Is there any way to speed that up, or should I just get a new editing software? All feedback, and help is greatly appreciated.

    Gamer
The typical ways to introduce media into Premiere Elements 11 is via AddMedia which puts the source media into Project Assets and from there you drag the contents to the Timeline Expert view edit.
    These would be your choices.
You say that you used Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 and a picture from Photoshop Elements 11.
Given that you are doing screen captures with Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 and you have a photo from Photoshop Elements 11, but how are you introducing them into Premiere Elements 11? At the same time that we are looking into the how, we need to look into the what, especially for the screen captures. The video and audio formats and file extension among other things are important to the Premiere Elements workflow.
So, again I would ask you to offer answers to what I had asked
I am assuming that you are talking about the time it takes for the video to import into Project Assets for you to drag to the Timeline. Are you observing any indexing and/or conforming going on (bar at bottom right of Expert view interface) during this 3 hour await time?
Among other things, what are you using for Add Media and to get to Project Assets? And, the usual drill, what are the properties of your source media, including size and duration, video and audio compression, file extension, etc.? By comparison what is the size and duration of those Internet games et al. that seem to be transferring to your expectations?
Is this one of those issues where "it never worked before" or "it worked before but not now" specific to Adobe files of the size and duration and properties that you are focusing on?
I see the answers to all of the above as expediting the matter to get your concerns addressed.
    Please review.
    Thank you.

  • Does Premiere Elements 13 Support 4K video?

Somehow my previous question disappeared. Does this program support 4K to burn to 4K Blu Rays?

    351mustang
Both Premiere Elements 12 and 13 have project presets for the video with the resolution of 3840 x 2160 (a 4K resolution) under NTSC only. It also offers
export of the 3840 x 2160 resolution under Publish+Share/Computer/XAVC-S. There is no burn to Blu-ray with any 4K resolution.
Remember, that 4K is a resolution. And, the video codec from manufacturer to manufacturer can vary which impacts the question. The generalization is that
H.264.mp4 4K video is supported by Premiere Elements 12 and 13.
Project Presets, please see NTSC/AVCHD/QFHD choices
Export Opportunity to .mp4 file - please see Publish+Share/Computer/XAVC-S and its presets.
Any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please let us know.

  • Premiere Element 12 when moving video clips. HELP me Rhonda!

I am currently running Windows 7 (Professional) and I downloaded Premiere Element 12 off Tech Soup so I could make a short video for my company. I am working on a specific project and I have done a considerable amount of editing already. When I try to renegotiate  the positions of various clips- an "error" message appears and then the program shuts down. Is my computer incompatible??? HELP! I don't want to lose all the work I have done. Also, I am so desperate I would be willing to buy the software all over again and put it on my mac-laptop but that would be my last resort! Has anyone else encountered this problem?
[Moved from Premiere PRO to Premiere Elements... Mod]

Thanks for the reply. Let us see what we can do with what you have.
When I asked about computer resources, I was asking about how much installed and available RAM the computer has, how much free hard drive space, the processor and the clock speed. Most of that you can get by right clicking the word Computer and selecting Properties.
    About your alternative plans...
Your Premiere Elements 12 Windows project is not going to work on Premiere Elements Mac (whatever version)
If you export your Premiere Elements 12 project to a .mp4 file (Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with one of the .mp4 presets), you can import that into a Premiere Elements Mac project. However, that is a whole video which will need trimming to make significant further edits.
No guarantees, but your Premiere Elements 12 Windows project file should open in Premiere Elements 13 Windows. But, work with a copy of the Premiere Elements 12 Windows project as a safety net.
This is what I would like you to do.
Can you open that Premiere Elements 12 Windows project that shutdown when you were moving clips around in the Edit area of the program? If so, open to the Expert workspace. Have you placed audio transitions in the Timeline content? If so, remove them and determine if the problem is gone, is the same, or gets worse.
Also, what specific media were you moving around when the crash took place? If you can open the project, can you delete and re-import the file(s) in question? What Timeline tracks are you using and which were involved in this incident?
I am particularly interested in the answer to the last question to use the answer as a point to start the troubleshooting.
Please let me know if you need clarification on the above.
We will be watching for further developments and will keep close track of your posts.

  • Premiere Elements is cutting large video imports

When I try to import a large gopro file it cuts it down to the first minute. I was hoping to get the highest quality file imported into Adobe. I can get around this by reducing the quality of the file and shortening the length in gopro studio but why am I having to use to separate programs?

    123
There are several problems here, two of which are frame size and frame rate.
Next in line is your report that your import duration is less than the pre-import duration of the original.
You say that your camera is set to record 1920 x 1080 @ 48 progressive frames per second. But according
to your screenshot, the frame size is 1920 x 1440 @ 47.95. This is an atypical format for the Premiere Elements project presets.
And Premiere Elements does not have a 47.95 or 48 frames per second.frame rate.
So, if you drag and drop or use Add Media/Files and Folders, the project is going to give you automatically a 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames
per second project preset, and your footage in the Edit area monitor is going to look like
How do you account for the fact that you are shooting 1920 x 1080 @ 48 progressive frames per second and your
import properties within the project are showing 1920 x 1440 @ 47.95 progressive frames per second. My focus here
is on the frame size right now. From what I have read, your camera can record 1920 x 1440 @ 48 progressive frames per second.
The Properties screenshot, presumed from the program read of the file's properties, shows a duration of 8 minutes 32 seconds and
22 frames. What is the total duration of the file before import? Around 13 minutes?
For troubleshooting purposes, If you record at 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second, do you run into these frame size and frame rate and duration issues?
Let us further see how the program is interpreting your video. Please right click the thumbnail of the file in Expert workspace Project Assets
and select Interpret Footage. In the Interpret Footage dialog, what is listed in the Frame Rate section for frame rate of original file. And, in
the Pixel Aspect Ratio of the dialog, what is shown, Square Pixels (1.0) or something else?
I will see if I can find some GoPro Black 3 1920 x 1440 @ 48 progressive frames per second footage with which to work in Premiere Elements.
There are a lot of details to sort through. Looking forward to your help in getting at the whys so that you can move forward with your
    projects.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere elements 10 and viewing video - avi

Hi all, I am completely baffled at the moment. I am running 2 systems, both with adobe premiere elements 10 and full content packs. I have also installed k-lite codecs pack on both machine. One is a dell i5 lptop and the other is an i7 tower. I am editing the same set of videos, I have copied a set to my desktop and have another set on my laptop. The issue is this:
On the laptop I open premiere, get media and select the avi file I want to edit, the file appears and you can see the image of the video file. It is then OK to work from and edit.
On the desktop, I open premiere, get medi and select the avi file I want to edit, the file appears but this time there is no image just the audio sign. I try to put it intot he video timeline but it only imports the audio.
I have been stumped all night. Why will it work on one machine and not the desktop?
Please can someone help me with this?
    Cheers

  • Premiere CS5 will not render video with titles on the fly in preview window

I am trying to use CS5 and notice if I add a title to the timeline overlapping any video and then attempt to play the video as soon as it hits the part with the title the video stops playing in the preview window. The background sound keeps going but video play back stops. In premiere CS4 it would render titles on the fly no problem. Why wont it do it in CS5? I should not have to render the timeline it should do at least a rough realtime playback without a full render. In CS4 it would play any and all effects on the fly depending on the resolution and the performence would vary depending on how many and what effects and transitions were applied to the clips but its very useful to get a quick idea how it will look. If I scrub, the titles playback while scrubbing no problem its only with actual playback it happens. Other effects and transitions I apply seem to render on the fly and play back in the preview window ok, it only seems to be the titles having the issues.
    Any ideas?

    No error message
I want to use the built in premiere title function to place titles along with fades and what not and then play back clips in the preview windows with the titles applied rendering on the fly. This works perfectly in CS4, just not in CS5. When I try it in CS5 after you hit the play button it will play the clip but as soon as you get to the part of the clip where the title is the video playback will freeze, mind you the clip is still playing in the sense that audio is still going just the video playback stops in the preview window. As a note if you scrub the video on the timeline the video clips will display with the titles applied it should, it is only when you hit the play button the problem happens.
I have tried adjusing the quality settings in the preview window, updated my gfx card drivers and system drivers along with directx. Premiere is updated. I have tested other effects and transitions and they display fine, including super imposures such as chroma key or ultra key. I have adjust playback settings not that there was much to adjust there.
I will say again in CS4 never had this issue, I am surprised to see it here.
Please any ideas would be appriciated thx.
