Premiere Elements 9 able to save h.264 mp4?

Hi!
I gave Premiere Elements 9 trial a test run yesterday on my Mac OS Snow Leopard. Everything else seemed to work nicely but I felt a bit limited with the sharing/exporting -part. What I want to do is export .mp4-file encoded with h.264, preferably 2-pass to optimize quality vs. file size. I prefer this file format because it is recommended by YouTube and can also be viewed on PlayStation3, and probably on everything else.
Also, tell me there shouldn't be problems with syncing 44,1khz audio in Premiere? I've used Final Cut Express previously and I found out it needs 48khz audio to stay in sync. (I record with GarageBand and it will only do 44,1khz)
Thanks!

Yes, you can certainly save MP4s in a variety of formats and at a variety of quality levels.
Share/Computer/MPEG with the H.264 preset will save a high quality MP4 at several frame sizes.
Share/Disc/BluRay includes presets for saving your BluRays in H.264 format.
Share/Portable Devices/iPod will save in H.264/Mp4s for an Apple portable device.
All of these presets can be modified by clicking on the Advanced button in their export panels.
There are many more details on the program in my books, available on Amazon.com and at Premiere Elements support site http://Muvipix.com.

    Hi,

Also, will the new premiere elements 9 edit and save changes to avchd files from Panasonic and Canon without losing any quality?
I came across 'provides native support for avchd'; what does it mean? Does it mean that I can edit and save avchd files with out losing quality?

  • Premiere Elements 4 audio won't play on mp4 files, codecs missing/unavailable on .mov files

I dowlnloaded Premiere Elements 4, and when I import mp4 files, the video plays but the audio will not. I've also tried to import .mov files, and an error message pops up that says "Codec missing or unavailable." I downloaded the latest version of Quicktime, but that didn't change anything. The files will play back on the video camera, but I"m having trouble with them on my computer. The audio on the mp4 files plays in Quicktime, but not the video, and vice versa when I import them into Elements. Any suggestions?

Does Quicktime Pro also edit .mov files on a PC?

Premiere Elements 4 pretty much works with tape-based digital video. That would be video from a miniDV or HDV tape-based camcorder. It doesn't handle other formats very well.
If you plan to edit MP4s, you definitely want to upgrade to a more current version of the program. If you can't install a current version of the program, you may need to address issues on your computer (such as an outdated operating system or underpowered hardware configuration).
Short of that, you could buy Quicktime Pro from Apple for $29. It will edit MP4s, even on a PC platform.

  • Photoshop/ Premiere Elements: How do I save Drive C space?

When installing PSE and trying to install Premiere Elements I stated that I wanted to install the two items of software on Drive D.   Even though I did this certain files were still installed on Drive C, which is critically short of space.  In "programdata" on drive C  Adobe setup 1.39 GB for PSE and Catalogs of 1.27 GB.  Trying to install Premiere Elements 9 I also stated that I wanted to install on Drive D but the installer responded that I needed 850 megabytes of space on Drive C and that there was insufficient space to install.  Is there anyway that I can install all the software and data on Drive D?  Drive C is my smallest drive (50 GB) but all software attempts to load everything onto it!  I have over 4 terabytes of capacity elsewhere but Drive C is overwhelmed.

Why can’t you re-arrange your partitions, allocating more capacity to the C Drive as most software needs to use the system files/folders.

  • Premiere Elements 10 Able to Export XML For Premiere Pro, Avid, Or Final Cut Pro?

Is there a way to XML the projects or timelines out of Premiere elements so they will open in Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro or Avid if I later switch to one of those programs?
I wonder why you can't open a Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro?

Actually, within a somewhat narrow range, you CAN Open PrE Projects (PREL files) in a contemporary version of PrPro. For instance, I can Open my PrE 4.0 PREL's in PrPro 2.0. When you get several version numbers apart, it might not work. As a for instance, I cannot Open PrE 7, 8, 9 or 10 PREL's in PrPro 2.0, but PrE 9 PREL's do Open in PrPro CS 5.
One thing to remember, however, is that PrE has some features that do not exist in PrPro. Examples will be Themes/Instant Movies, NewBlue FX Effects/Transitions, etc. If you have used any of those features, you will loose them, when you do Open the PrE PREL in PrPro. Note: PrPro Projects (PRPROJ files) will NOT Open in PrE. These same limitations also exist when Opening older Premiere, or PrPro Projects in later versions - some of the older versions had 3rd party features, that do not exist in later PrPro versions, but the program is pretty neat, in that it will tell you of, say a missing Transition, will tell you the TimeCode where that was used, and also give you the name of the missing Transition. Effects can be a bit tougher.
I cannot comment on AVID, or FCP, but I would rather doubt that the PREL's will Open in those programs. Maybe someone with those, plus PrE, can comment.
Now, PrPro does offer some X-program support, with features like EDL's, etc., but PrE does not support those.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements 11 - No audio on playback using MP4 or MOV video files

    Hello,
I've recently started using Premiere Elements for a project I'm working on and I'm learning as I go.
When I'm adding a video that plays audio in another program to Premiere, the audio won't play.
I've checked the audio and audio hardware settings and they both seem fine.  The mixer is not muted and when I publish the file, there is still no audio.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dale

    DovSolomon
I am assuming that you are working with Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12. On what computer operating system are they running?
Can you open your .avi file in the Elements Organizer 12 and playback the file there and hear audio in the playback?
We have just helped a Premiere Elements user resolve a no sound with .avi file in another thread. Her answer was to update Premiere Elements 12 to 12.1 (See opened project Help Menu/Update.) Why is there no sound on avi files?
The details are in the link cited in my conversions with the user Vickie.
The full video and audio properties of the problem files are needed to evaluate situation such as you describe. In the case of the other user, she was not able to give us anything beyond .avi file. But, fortuately that 12.0 to 12.1 suggestion came to the rescue nonetheless. Bottom line is that, if the 12.0 to 12.1 Update does not resolve your issue, then we will need to go "by the book" and gather file properties, project settings, and the like to try to target the cause of your audio issue. Have you added to this project any narration clips from the program's Narration Tool?
If you create a new project, can you hear the audio from this .avi file in it? Is the problem confined to one .avi file or to any of these .avi files that you import into new or pre-existing projects. Can you hear the audio from non .avi files?
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 8 & native support for Samsung AVCHD MP4 video?

I'm excited about the release of version 8 of PSE and PE, but my big unanswered question is stated in the subject line: will Premiere Elements 8 natively support the MP4 files produced by my Samsung HMX-H104 ?
I've been entirely unsuccessful with this file format and PE7.
I've read throught the product descriptions and FAQ and Adobe makes reference to cameras from flash-drive camcorders, but doesn't offer any specifics. Native support looks like a crapshoot. Anybody with some insight to contribute?

Thanks for pointing that out -- yeah, I see my error. I just did a little bit of web searching and it's not AVCHD. This seems to pretty well summarize it:
    http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Samsung-SC-HMX10-Camcorder-Review-34476/Format.htm
"The Samsung ... outputs video in the H.264/MPEG-4 format (the file extension is .MP4). This highly-compressed video codec should not be confused with the competing AVCHD format. AVCHD is a type of H.264/MPEG-4 codec, but the version Samsung employs is different, with both benefits and drawbacks.
"...the MPEG-4 video ... is adequate. ... this type of MPEG-4 is space efficient and less processor-intensive to edit than AVCHD."
    ...and...
    http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Samsung-HMX-H105-First-Impressions-Camcorder-Review-3 6130/Compression-amp-Media.htm
"The Samsung HMX-H105 records video in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, the same as models from the previous years. MPEG-4 has clearly been adopted as the format of choice for HD camcorders, split into two camps. Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and most recently JVC, all use AVCHD, which is a subset of AVC/H.264. AVCHD experienced some serious stumbling blocks in its first few years, as existing hardware and software choked on the heavy data loads. It has, however, gotten much better in the past year. AVC/H.264 is also data-heavy, at least compared to old standard definition camcorders, but the format is easier to read. QuickTime can work perfectly with the files, and has the benefit of being free and dual-platform."
I know this aspect has all been covered to death on these forums in the past, with respect to PE7 (which chokes on any Samsung .MP4 file I throw at it). While I've bookmarked the workaround posted by you in this thread (thanks!), I was hoping to avoid the extra steps à la native compatability with PE8.

  • Premiere elements 11: clip the ends of an .mp4

In premiere elements 11, how do I clip the ends of an .mp4 and then save the result as a new .mp4 or other video?

    hill0093
You really do not have to clip anything if you do not want to.
    1. In the Expert workspace, place the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar to span the area of the Timeline that you want to export.
    2. When you go to Publish+Share/Computer/ and your choice, your choice has to have an option "Share Work Area Bar Only" for
you to place a check mark next to.
You need to meet the above 2 requirements --- then, with export settings set appropriately, you hit the Save button. You will find
your file at the hard drive location that you designated in the Save In of the export dialog.
With regard to the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar - when you are in the Edit area....
Screenshot is from version 13, but same Work Area Bar/Gray Tabs concept in 11.
You can move the gray tabs in place with the mouse cursor or with shortcuts --
    with shortcuts....
Move the Timeline Indicator to the beginning of the segment to be exported, then, as you hold down the
Alt key of the computer main keyboard, hit the left bracket key [
Move the Timeline Indicator to the end of the segment to be exported, then, as you hold down the Alt key

  • Premiere Elements 12 - The project stopped accepting new mp4 and jpeg clips onto the timeline.  There are several there but when adding new ones they appear to place properly then immediately disappear.  Any fix?

Windows 8.1 elements 12 - I have a project underway that was operating fine as i built the video file, then stopped accepting new files, both mp4 and jpeg.  It appears to accept them when dragged onto the timeline but then they immediately disappear. Any solutions?

    boondocker
That is an unusual situation that you are presenting.
Have you updated from 12 to 12.1 via the project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 presumed 64 bit?
    The usual drill
    a. What is your project preset? What are the properties of your sources media? What is the brand/model/settings of the camera recording your mp4 and jpeg.
What are the pixel dimensions of these jpeg images and how many of them are there in the project (especially when the problems set in).
    b. What is the size/duration of your Timeline content when the program no longer accepts new files?
    c. Describe status of your computer resources. Also, where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free hard drive space is at that location(s)?

  • Premiere Elements 8 won't save when I change the presets

I'm trying to convert a recorded presentation from .wmv to .flv for a work website. If I render the video first, and then go to share I can output a .flv file.Although it does take 9 hours for a 1 hour recording.  But for some reason its set to a tiny 320x320 screen size. As soon as I try to change this setting so that it isn't resized the whole thing stops. I don't get a crash message, and windows doesn't say it's not running. It just stops and the CPU sinks from 98% back to 100%.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
As Steve points out, WMV is a tough format/CODEC to deal with. It requires a lot of processing to use. It's far easier on the computer and the program, to do the conversion, prior to Import. For an SD (Standard Definition) Project, the recommended DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio is as good as it gets. Editing will be much easier, and Export/Transcoding will go far more quickly. Note: DV-AVI Type II files will be about 13GB/hour of Duration.
There are many conversion programs available, and many are freeware. One that gets a lot of recs. here is Prism. I have never used it, as I have DigitalMedia Converter 2.7, but it's shareware. One feature that I like about it is the batch conversion, even from mixed source files. I load it, check my settings, and hit Convert. After a cup of coffee, all of my files are ready to be Imported and edited.
    Good luck,

  • I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those clips in Organizer.  I can do that in Premiere Elements 12 and save them as "Projects" - but how do I get the divided clips back into Organizer?

I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those single clips into 2 or 3 separate clips, each shown separately in Organizer.  I can divide the clips in Premiere Elements Editor 12 and save them as "Projects" - but I can't find any way to get those divided clips back into Organizer.  Does anyone know whether that can be done?  Many thanks for your thoughts.

  • Hot to force Premiere Elements Organizer to save my notes?

    Hello,
Is there a way to force Premiere Elements Organizer (PEO) to save the notes I have typed in?
I have been reviewing .AVI files all day.  I have summarize each file and written the summary in the notes field of the Premiere Elements Organizer (PEO) for each file.  I just went back to look at the notes I have made.  I found that many of them are totally blank now as though my work was never saved.  Much or all of my work is lost.
How can I force PEO to save the changes I have made so I do not lose them all again?
Am I doing something wrong that is preventing my work from being saved?
It would be good if PEO had an "auto-save" feature that would save the state of things every so many minutes to prevent lost work.

  • Which Version of Premiere Elements Supports Export to MP4 H264?

Which version of Premiere Elements started to support video export to MP4 using the H.264 codec for compression?

That's what I wanted to know thanks.  It's a really strange way to support that since you are forced to make an indirect association between a particular viewing device and a resolution and codec.
