Premiere Elements 9 with Panasonic GH1 & G13

The title is to help Google!
First hiccup, the Adobe ID entry box won't work unless your Adobe ID is an email address.  Mine isn't.  Fortunately you can skip that stage.
Choose "New Project" and the program crashes... ah, I see it's trying to read my VST's.  Bad design - that should be enabled if the user wants to later on.  Fortunately most of mine are where PE9 won't find them.
There's a promising set of presets (though as before, the PE requirement to choose precise presets is not found in other such programs, but that's probably buried too deep in the software to change).
Drag a Panasonic GH1 1080i clip onto the timeline, and it wants to change the preset I chose, so I click "yes".  And it plays, which is something.  Now I drag a 720p clip onto the timeline, and it displays a red line above the clip on the timescale, and only shows the watermark (which oddly does not appear in the 1080i clip playback).  When I hit "enter" to render that portion, it still just displays the watermark.  Ah, click on the window and the video is displayed under the watermark.  But the video will not play without going back to the watermark only display.
Going from earlier posts, I have now to decide whether to ignore the claim that this is a fully functional demo and pay to make it fully functional, or wonder forever how well it might have worked if I'd bought it.
Aha again - I delete everything so far, and drag the 720p clip on its own onto the timeline.  The project preset is automatically changed again (after confirmation), and it plays fine with no watermark.  Good!  Put the 1080i clip afterwards, and that gets the watermark treatment.
Let's try rendering the present state of the timeline to H264 1080i - off it goes, at a render speed a bit less than half speed (2 minutes of material in 4 minutes on the Q6300 quad core PC) which in comparison with programs seems slow, especially with all cores going flat out.  Does this program support Cuda?   No sign of it at a glance.
Completed render plays back fine and (apart from the watermark) looks perfectly OK in picture quality and resolution terms.
A minor annoyance which might not apply to anyone else - here I have two PCs using a shared keyboard and mouse using "Maxivista" to swap the mouse and keyboard to whichever screen the mouse is on.  When I go to the PC not running PE9, playback stops.
Well, if only to make my earlier investment in PE8 worthwhile, I'll go for it and I'll add more detailed comments once the program is really fully functional...  then I'll test whether G13 footage (Panasonic GH1 footage using non-standard firmware, giving much higher than standard bitrates) works or not.

Well, before plonking down my money I've tried a couple of "GH13" 1080i clips, which have bitrates outside the official AVCHD spec (eg around 35mbps in this case) and they play fine too.
I notice that when I click on "full screen" at the top of the interface that the playback then has artifacts which are caused by the timeline refreshing under the full screen playback - a bar across the screen which comes from elsewhere in the picture being played.  Anyone else see that?  That's with standard AVCHD or mpeg footage.  Just possibly the kind of thing which checking for current NVIDIA drivers might fix?
As soon as I try to put a picture in picture with AVCHD material, the playback framerate drops drastically - that part of the timeline has to be rendered.  In other recent software that's not required - off the top of my head I'd get four tracks to play at once.  I'd say PE9 is well behind the game in terms of the efficiency of the timeline playback engine.  Even rendering that part of the timeline is painfully slow.  Still, maybe there are quality tradeoffs - one program I use doesn't attempt to give full definition playback from the timeline, leading to a slighly blurred look in the playback monitoring window, but that does mean it can show more complex timelines unrendered.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Are you looking for text whose fill is a 4- color gradient instead of a solid color. Or something else, like text whose fill is a still or video?

  • Unable to install premiere element with student activation code?

I bought my student premiere element and photoshop combo pkg in October 2014. When I got home I could not install the program permanently without waiting for Adobe to accept my student ID and provide a serial number to install both. I received it but did not use my paid copy right away. Instead I used the schools. Now I am trying to install it (again, first one I deleted today) but no matter what I do it will  not accept my 16 digit serial number. I have been working on this since 8 pm last night. Adobe would not answer on line. Today I went back to Best Buy they couldn't help me, but tried their best. The Geek Squad guy said I should contact Adobe. I have been waiting on hold for 30 minutes. I NEED TO GET THIS DOWNLOADED FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT. Any advice?

Marilyns6335817 I am sorry you are facing difficulty locating your serial number.  If it is registered then your serial number will be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/.  For additional details please see http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
If you have not redeemed your redemption code then please see Redemption Code Help for information on how to redeem the redemption code.  The serial number will be registered to your account as part of the redemption process.

  • Install premiere elements with serial number

I purchased photoshop elements 13 and premiere elements bundle. Was able to download photoshop elements but cannot find anywhere to download premiere elements. I have the serial number for the purchase. Anyone know where to find the place to download the program, not the trial?

If you download the trial you can use the serial number from your purchase to activate it to full use.  There is no difference between trial and full version except for the time limit on the trial.

  • Adobe premiere elements 12 with diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.

Adobe premiere elements 12 and using Diamond vc500 one touch video capture device.
AVI files will not load into Adobe premiere elements 12.
I bought what I thought were the two best software and capture devices.
I am archiving old VHS tapes and using Diamond vc500 capture software called EZ grabber. I thought the best archiving format would be AVI files. As I just started this project. I am willing to do what is needed.
That even being, going and buy another capture device that being for a VCR to PC using a USB are even a Video card.
EZ grabber software ask you to record in what format. I picked AVI. There is DVD - SVCD - VCD - MPG4. I want to archive then go back and edit. The DVD or SVCD format, is that not the same as mpeg 2?
You and I know the drill. Saving in what long term archive format and that dare thing about video compression and losing quality of the videos. Its all a nightmare.
Once again I am willing to buy another capture device for a VCR that will work with Adobe premiere elements 12.
Help please with long term archiving format and capture device.
    Thanks

    The answer is B.
Capturing the VHS content to computer (via the Diamond vc500 and USB connection and EZ grabber) to obtain an .avi file on your computer and then trying to import that into Premiere Elements with its Add Media/Files and Folders?
When I do that, the Adobe premiere elements 12 crashes or only loads a 2 mins of video.
The firewire connection device "Canopus" product sounds great. But I really don't want to spend that much on my home videos. My PC does not have a Firewire connection. So add a new card for that and the Canopus product. I could just pay someone to do my VHS tapes.
    Diamond vc500 $35
    Adobe premiere elements 12 $65
    Firewire card $50 plus
    Canopus $180
$330 is way too much for simple home VHS videos

  • Premiere Elements 10 slow on Mac

    Hi,
I installed Premiere Elements 10 on a brand new computer, but it runs extremely slow.
Even just playing one short 30 second clip (un-edited, the original file) causes lagging.
I made sure that the project is up to par with the camera settings and that there are no red lines above the timeline.
    These are my computer specs:
    MacBook Air
Processor  1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 5000
    Software  OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
As I said, it is brand new so I don't have almost anything on it but PE10 and the files I need to edit for work, so I don't think it should be a space issue.
I'm not much of a computer wiz, so I might be missing on some important info I need to share.
Please let me know if you need to know anything else.
I really appreciate the help and sorry for the inconvenience, but I couldn't find a solution anywhere else on-line.
    Thank you!

Thanks for checking out the jpg and other video source Timeline performance. Enough of that. I think the results are pointing us specifically to the Panasonic footage.
Based on online description of your Panasonic recordings, I assumed that you were putting AVCHD.mp4 1080 50i on your Premiere Elements Timeline. In your last post your wrote...
I only have one other source, but it's the same type of file (.mov)
That would mean to me that you do not have .mp4 files but rather .mov files from the Panasonic. Could you double check that point - .mp4 or .mov? Under ordinary conditions one would expect AVCHD.mp4 and AVCHD.mov to be compatible with Premiere Elements with QuickTime installed on the same computer with Premiere Elements.
    Right now we have
    jpg, OK
    another .mov source, OK
Let us try this for troubleshooting purposes only....take what your source video AVCHD.mov or AVCHD.mp4 and put it through the HandBrake program.
    http://handbrake.fr/
This is going to be only a quick test. We can go back and fine tune settings later if necessary.
Open HandBrake to its Main Workspace
    Source/Open File
Where it says Chapters, I typically set that to Seconds.
Destination - Browse to and set the hard drive save location for the HandBrake export
    Output Settings = Container Mp4
Picture Tab (leave settings as is)
    Video Tab
    Video Codec = H.264 (x264)
    Framerate = 25
    and then
    dot "Constant Framerate"
Hit the Start button at the top left of the workspace
    and then
Wait for Queue Finished to be displayed in the progress bar at the bottom
    left of the workspace.
The goal is to determine if you can work with this HandBrake export better than you can with the
    original Panasonic file.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.

  • How to fix audio  of a video captured from DV output of camcorder using Adobe Premiere Elements 8?

    Hello,
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 8 about one week ago.  I installed it and everything seem to work well in my first project.  I am new at editing videos but I was succesful in testing it by loading an existing video file in avi format from my computer and then doing some very basic editing (I splitted 2 scenes and added a title).
After my first succesful project (described above) I started a brand new project. Here, I want to capture a one hour video  from the dv output of a video camera. So I connected the camera to the PC and then started adobe elements 8.  Before starting the capture I only checked the boxes that said "capture video" and "capture audio" (the other 2 boxes that said download to timeline and autoanalyze were left unchecked).  After that I started the capture process.
After the video capture was completed, a small window opened at the bottom saying that a PEAK FILE was being generated.    After the peak file generation finished, I looked at the captured video.  The video looked perfect.  However the audio of the video was too fast. By this, I mean that the voices of the people in the movie were like they were speaking at more than twice the normal speed.  Or to explain it in a different way, they sounded like the  chipmunks.
So now I come to the question of this thread I started.  Is there a way that I can fix the audio part of the video I captured?  I will appreciate any help on this. Below I listed a few additional details in case this is needed.
    Thanks,
    ronel_8
PS.  Here are some more details about my system:
    1) Operating System: Windows XP
    2) I am capturing the video on an external drive with 40 GB of available space. The external drive is connected to a PC via a USB connection.
    3) Computer CPU: 2.4 GHZ
    4) Computer RAM: 1.25 GB
    5) Video tape is about one hour long.

    Hello Bill and Steve,
Your responses are very helpful.  Although I was not able to fix the problem yet I do seem to think from what you both say that my system may be too slow to capture the one hour video. In any case I will copy below more details about the system as you requested:
    1) Results from running Gspot:
The audio section of the Gspot window was blank. That is, no information was there.  The File and Container sections say:
    File Size: 12.6 GB
Note: 7.63 GB unneeded bytes at the end of the file
    DV Type1 AVI
    2) I did run the Gspot on another good avi file (captured to the PC with same camcorder) and says:
    Codec PCM Audio
    32kHz 1024 kb/s tot (2 chnls).
I suppose these are the audio settings from the camera.
    3) Yes, I am capturing video from a miniDV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U).
    4) I did not defragment the external drive prior to capturing the video with the audi problem.  So I will give that I try and see if it solves the problem.
    5) The external drive I am using is formatted to NTFS.
    6) The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400, CPU: 2.4 GHZ, RAM: 1.25 GB
    7) HDD Size=74GB and 11 GB of free space.  But I am downloading video to external drive that has 60 GB free space.
One last piece of information that may be useful.  If I open the AVI file (that I captured with Adobe Premiere Elements) with Windows Media Player, the audi sounds good.  However if I open it with Adobe it has the problem I mentioned in my previous e-mail.
    I'll aprreciate any further hints.
    Thanks again,
    ronel_8

  • Adobe Premiere Elements sn removed cannot be installed after System rebooted

Installation of Premiere Elements with legal serial number is denied. What can I do?@

PLEASE don't do that. When you posted your serial number here, you just gave it away to anyone on the internet who might want it. This is a user to user forum and you should not EVER post a serial number here. Everything you post here is visible to the entire internet.
Now, are you asking about Premiere Elements or Photoshop Elements? You say Premiere Elements, but the serial number you posted was for Photoshop Elements. Which program are we talking about here?

  • Presets in Premiere Elements 7

I have just recorded my first video on my Sony HDR-XR500V. I want to transfer my video from the camera to my computer using Pre 7. To open a project I must set the presets. My camera specs do not match the choices in Pre7's box i.e. my camera captures at AVCHD 1440x1080/60i. The choice is 1440x1080/30i. Does anyone know if I can choose that setting? Thanks, DH

    DH
If you are recording your AVCHD to the hard drive of your camcorder, some people use the software that came with the camcorder to transfer the video from the camcorder's hard drive to the computer's hard drive and then bring it into Premiere Elements  with Premiere Elements' Get Media/Files Folders.
Premiere Elements 7 does offer a Premiere Elements 7 route Get Media/AVCHD or other hard disk/memory camcorder and the Media Downloader. In the Media Downloader, there is a Get Media from: and a Select a Device. Sometimes the device is not recognized. If it is, then go with this route first.
Once you have your media on the Timeline and edited, you can go to Create Menus and then Share/Disc/Disc to create a DVD Video widescreen. But, remember that your project preset determined which set of DVD Menus would be available to you when you got to Create Menus in this project, namely HD menus. You will not be getting the standard or widescreen versions of the menus that would normally be associated with DVD-VIDEO standard or widescreen. If you were burning the Timeline to a BluRay disc where HD menus would be more appropriate, that would be another story.
But, if you want a DVD-VIDEO, Share/Disc/Disc (make the best of the menus) and select the burn preset for the widescreen (16:9) version of the DVD-VIDEO.
Remember that you started with AVCHD 1440 x 1080 (4:3) with HD Anamorphic which stretches the video 16:9 on display after encoding. In this situation you end up with 1920 x 1080. With the DVD-VIDEO product, you will end up with 720 x 480 with a 16:9 flag to stretch the video 16:9 on display after encoding.
Check it all out and see what works best for you. If you had a Blu-ray burner, Blu-Ray disc, and a Blu-Ray player, you could take full advantage of the high definition of with the Premiere Elements software. There are also methods for burning AVCHD in Blu-Ray format to a DVD disc. There you export your Premiere Elements 7 Timeline as a .m2t file and then use that file and other software to get your Blu-Ray format on the DVD for play back on many TVs and PS3.

  • Premiere Elements 8

Today Adobe announced the release of Premiere Elements 8.
For those interested in some of the new featuers in this exciting new release, I've created a new FAQ with a linked PDF of some screen shots and detailed discussions.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/496335?tstart=0

It looks like this was intended for you after all.
    So I will do a copy/paste
I would suggest to you that there should NOT be any problem opening a project .prel from an earlier version of Premiere Elements with Premiere Elements 8.
What I suspect may be the case is that you may be actually unsuccessfully trying to force a project .prel into another project .prel. That is to be expected. Check out the following to determine if this works for you.
I have Premiere Elements 2, 4, 7, and 8. I do not have version 3, so I used version 2 to obtain a saved project .prel. In addition, I archived that project so that I had a saved Project Archiver Copied Folder with that project .prel with all it’s source media.
First I went to the hard drive save location for the project t.prel (not archived version), right clicked it, and selected Open With, followed by Premiere Elements 8. The project .prel opened without problems.
Next I went to the hard drive save location for the project .prel (archived version), right clicked it, and selected Open With, followed by Premiere Elements 8. The project .prel opened without problems.
If the Premiere Elements 3 project prel really did not open in the later versions, you could have always exported it to DV AVI and brought the DV AVI export into Premiere Elements 8. But, there should be no need for that. Also, if you moved any of the source media for the Premiere Elements 3 project .prel after you saved it, you could be in for some reconnect issues which are a whole other matter.
I have not had a chance to try it, but I believe once you edit a project .prel from an earlier version in a later version, you cannot go back and edit that project .prel in the earlier version.
As I said in your very recent new post on the matter, check it out and see if this works for you in the various versions that you are using

My guess is that these are 'Named User' licenses and not Concurrent licenses. That just means that every license has a single user and that users is expected to register. Did they just give you one DVD with the program and then 30 license keys? If so there is probably no way you will get around the registration process.

We are pleased that you were able to complete your project successfully.
But, I have a favor to ask of you in the name of troubleshooting this audio issue.
Do you still have the project file from which you exported successfully (video and audio) to mpeg? From what has been said, you probably have the narration on Audio 2 right now.
Could you reopen the project, move the narration from Audio 2 to the Narration Track and do your export again. When you do, is the audio gone as before or is it now there in that mpeg export?
Is it just one narration clip involved or multiple narration clips? Was the narration created in Premiere Elements with its Narration Tool or created in another program and then that narration imported into Premiere Elements 10 with its Get Media/Files and Folders?
If you do not have time, I understand. But, if you do have the time, the information would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.
