Premiere Elements - Organizer Help/Question.

I have another posting out here but maybe I am not being clear enough so I will pose the question another way.
I have a .mp4 file which contains 60 short pieces (happens to be football highlights) all strung together as one contiguous video.
What I am simply trying to do is to break it down for making a handful of highlight videos, each with a different angle. (ex Offense, Defense, Rushing, Passing, etc)
This is the basic outline of how I logically see it happening.  Problem is that I am can't figure out step 2:
1) Cut it down into 60 individual videos (which I did and currently have in my project) using the Split/Clip functions of Elements.
2) Save the pieces off as individual video clips so that they can be rated/ranked/categorized in Organizer.
3) Polish/edit the individual pieces.
4) Organize and assemble the various videos using the clips.
For the life of me I can't get
a) Elements to allow me to save of my projects as individual clips.
and
b) Get the Organizer to allow me to bring my clips in.
I am using PE 11.
Does this make sense?  Does anyone have any insight to offer?

Ok, sounds good.
I will just have to squirrel away copies of my project then build my different flavors the hard way.
I may be look at other tools before I resort to that.  I just hate to go through the headache of breaking it all down again but in the long haul could be worth it.
This just seems like the hard way to go about this task but then again I am a software guy and think in terms of reusable components.  Maybe that mentality just doesnt work for video.
Oh well, thanks to all of you for your help.

  • Hot to force Premiere Elements Organizer to save my notes?

    Hello,
Is there a way to force Premiere Elements Organizer (PEO) to save the notes I have typed in?
I have been reviewing .AVI files all day.  I have summarize each file and written the summary in the notes field of the Premiere Elements Organizer (PEO) for each file.  I just went back to look at the notes I have made.  I found that many of them are totally blank now as though my work was never saved.  Much or all of my work is lost.
How can I force PEO to save the changes I have made so I do not lose them all again?
Am I doing something wrong that is preventing my work from being saved?
It would be good if PEO had an "auto-save" feature that would save the state of things every so many minutes to prevent lost work.

I will work on this some more in the morning.
At this writing all my Premiere Elements 12 Information Notes are retained.
I am not sure how much of a help the following will be, but, as for general information, did you know that
you can write notes within a project using unnumbered markers?

  • Background Task on Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements Organizer "hangs"

I recently upgraded my software from Elements 10 to Elements 12 and had a bit of trouble.  Apparently both 10 and 12 have a way of launching an executable in the background which tends to get "stuck" on my system.  I believe the problem may be related to the network configuration and software mix I live with, but I need to confirm my suspecions and find a way to control the problem.  Here is what I know... I have always experienced a lot of problems using Elements with my NAS device which is a 1TB usb 2.0 connected disk system attached to my Linksys  E3000 Router.  When I got the router, the BIOS software did not correctly support NTFS file systems, but subsequent updates eventually made this possible if you formatted the removable drive on a system in NTFS, you could then hang it on the router and "see" the contents, serve them via Windows Media Player, or iTunes, etc., etc. from a computer atteched to the network, or via wirless directly off the router.  I archived all my photos out on this file system and have successfully indexed it for use with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements Organizer, but...  When I went to install Elements 12 software I tried to install it without first removing Elements 10, and on a system which had run Elements 10 since the last full reoboot.  During the install of 12 under "shared services install" the installation process "Hung" on a background task with a name like "AdobeElementsAnalyzer.exe" which only shows up in Windows 7 task manager as a running process, not as a full program, but because the file was locked by the system, the install hung.  I eventually figured out that I needed to start the install of Elements 12 software immediately after having rebooted so that this program was not present in the background, and succeeded in completing an install of Elements 12 on my Windows 7 X64 system.  This system required a "special" software download for Premiere Elements, but not for Photoshop Elements which is only apparently avaliable under 32bit emulation mode.  I finally got the "shared components" portion of the X64 Premiere Elements to complete an install, and then set about verifying the onversion/upgrade of the indexes to my photos and video stored out on the NAS.  The same rogue task which prevented me from doing the install showed up agian, taking all the system resources away from my dual processor Intel chip and refusing to let go.   I was forced to terminate it from the task manager.  I strongly suspect that my "issues" are in part due to the extrordinary network latency imposed by the drive connection I'm using to index my photos and videos, and I'm looking for a better approach to using the editors against my master catalog of files, as well as figruing out just what I need to do to insure that all the files I have stored on the drive are accessible by the organizer when I need to pull a copy to work on.
A complication is that I have two "legacy" Windows XP systems on my network, a reasonably fast Windows Vista Business desktop, and the Windows 7 X64 processor system which is the most powerful system I have.  The Windows file security enhancements to NTFS changed from XP, to Vista, to Windows 7, so files which get saved to the NAS disk inherit a variety of different levels of security under windows.  I have occasionally gone to one of my old XP boxes and "wiped" the security settings by resetting everything via Windows XP.  Because the NAS is so slow, this process can take several hours and must not be interrupted by attempts to do anything affecting the NAS by any of my other networked computers.  To avoid problems with my photo archive, it makes sense to me to do all my editing on copies which have been extracted from the NAS archive and stored on the C: drive (boot drive) of my Win X64 system.
What I seriously need to know is this:  When/If I define a "watched" portion of my file system, rather than taking the time to manually import every little change to my photo archives, can I expect the Photoshop Elements Organizer to work properly as long as everything stored on the NAS is stored via the same system which runs Elements with the same active "user" in control so that all the windows 7 file security settings putting stuff on the mapped NAS drive remain properly secured under Win 7 X64?  Frankly I don't care if the files appear "read only" to every other system and identity on my network, but I do need to be able to "see" them.  I have been able to view slide shows and movies stored on the NAS via both my networked iPad, my Apple TV, and using Samsung's funky android and Windows compatible software.  Frankly, I doubt that Microsoft or Apple has full understanding and control of the environment where there is no host "server" other than the eprom based stuff my Linksys E3000 loads to emulate early Windows Media Management architecture, but I mange to get it to work as long as I don't try anything sophisticated with the file permissions.   As a fall back, can I expect individual "imported" bits out on the NAS to remain stable if indexed and used only by the Elements Organizer running on my Win 7 X64 system?
I am seriously considering converting an old WinXP desktop into a UNIX box which could be configured as a "Server" for everything stored on the NAS and be done with my problems in return for the power required to run the server all the time so stuff is there when I need it.  Any recommendations?

Adobe hasn't said whether it officially supports PSE 7 on Windows 7.  But reports are starting to trickle in that PSE 7 works fine on Windows 7 for most people, though a couple people have reported crashes. My PSE 7 seems to work fine, though I primarily use PSE 8 now.  This is all very preliminary, and we'll learn more as more people post here.

    Hi

  • Organizer Not Working in Premiere Elements 10 - Help?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, 6 GB of Ram and installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10 a few days ago.
The Adobe Organizer is completely not working. Initially it hung when trying to import a clip, even a short clip, even after giving it several hours to do so.  Tried this multiple times, including after a full uninstall then reinstall. Now when I start organizer, it won't even fully load.  I get the icon in the taskbar, but the app won't open.
Interestingly, I can open a clip when working on a project without issue so far.
    Two questions:
    1.  Anyone else running into these problems using Organizer.  Is there a fix?
    2.  If I can't fix this, can I just ignore Organizer and just go straight to projects always.  Am I missing out on signficant functionality if I do this? . I am still within my return period.  If so, I can return and go back to Pinnacle (ugh - was hoping Adobe wasn't as buggy as Pinnacle).
    Thanks!
    Haus

If you have not done so yet, I would also post to the PS Elements Forum, as subscribers there might have some additonal tips for you. Barb__O, in that forum, knows about as much about Organizer, as anyone, who I have seen. Also, post the details of your computer, your OS, and the problem that you had with Shutterfly. Might be some useful details there.
I'd wait to let Steve Grisetti and Neale weigh in here, as I do not use Organizer, and really do not know that program.
    Good luck,

  • Newbie question about Premiere Elements Organizer

This is a pre-newbie – let’s say “virgin” question. If there is an answer already posted elsewhere, please send me a link.
I’m about to install Premiere Elements 9 to do some clip editing and animation from still images.  This would be my first attempt to edit clip or do some animation from still images, besides using Windows Media Maker with my HS students. However, I have been a pretty serious photographer for 20+ years with 1,000’s of images which I now work on in PS CS5 Extended and Lightroom 3. I use Adobe Bridge and LR library to catalogue and organize my images. I’d like to continue to use AB / LR Library to organize my new clips and projects. From reading Bill’s posts, it seems I can use Adobe Bridge, copy my original file, resize in Photoshop, and save in a new folder to use for a Premiere project. This would seem to be most intuitive way for me to work. I already have keywords, metadata, actions in PS… etc. But I think Bill is using Premiere Pro, while I’ll be installing Premiere Elements, which comes bundled with Elements Organizer. Do I need to install or use Elements Organizer? What are the advantages/disadvantages or EO?  I guess I’m a little worried about installing the programs and having EO automatically acquire images using presets/defaults that I don’t want to use as well as issues with subfolders, etc. I'm running Windows 7.
    Thanks
FYI- this is a great animation project

EO doesn't do much with the files themselves, just maintains links to the sources.
For folders you are best to use the folder view in EO to move them as it doesn't keep track of folder locations when changed in Windows Explorer. From the File options in Bridge I think that is pretty much the same.

I would like to get as much input as possible on the advantages/disadvantages of using EO vs say Adobe Bride from others who use Elements Organizer.
    Any insights would be appreciated.
Can anyone who has used both EO and AB comment on how EO handles missing (hidden) files, syncing issues, computer hanging up or crashing....etc?
I've only messed around a little with Bridge. But to me it seems lightening fast by comparison to EO. The features Albums and Tags in EO seem much the same as Collections and Keywords in Bridge.
EO has Face Recognition abilities - getting more sophisticated in each version. I've not seen this feature in Bridge.
By default EO allows you to open a file in any of:
    Photoshop
    Photoshop Elements
    Premiere Elements
A single used-defined application (I have mine set to ColorPilot).
Bridge only seems to link to Photoshop.
Missing files can be located manually or by allowing EO to search for them.

  • Elements Organizer Problem - Question Marks and Application Won't Quit Cleanly

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements/Premier Elements 11 to version 13 on a Mac.  After the upgrade, my elements organizer is experiencing some issues.
    1.  When I click on a double click on a thumbnail, I am taken to screen that has a large question mark on it.  (Not the photo)  Elements organizer knows exactly where the file is on my hard drive though as I can edit it in photoshop elements.  In addition, I can right click on the thumbnail and select show file Info -> Double click on Location.  When I do this I am taken do the correct file in finder.
    2.  My other issue is that the program doesn't close properly.  If I choose Quit from the menu bar, the program GUI closes, but it stays resident in my dock.  I have to force close in order to open the organizer again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Ben

Trying renaming your contacts.xml file. To access the file, you need to go - Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/adobe/elements organizer/organizer/settings I just named it "renamedfile.xml". A new contacts file will appear after you reopen the program.
I've had this problem a few times and renamed this file (after a support person from Adobe told me to the first time). It opens after I remaned it.
The contacts function of the organizer doesn't seem to be a stable. It always deletes entries that I want to add in.
    Hope this helps

Elements Organizer 11 on Windows 7 (assumed 64 bit).
When did you post this question before today. If all you posted today is all you sent in this thread, then be advised that this is not Adobe. Rather user to user. The replies are not automatic and depend
on a reply from a user based on the use's personal schedule.
I am not sure if the following will target the "msvvcr90.dll" but consider the following for the "crash" aspects
    1. Delete the Elements Organizer 11 settings file named psa.prf found
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Elements Organizer
    13.0
    Organizer
and in the Organizer Folder is the psa.prf file that you delete or disable by renaming it from psa.prf to psa.prfOLD.
    2. If the Elements Organizer 11 will stay open long enough, create a new catalog.
See Elements Organizer 11 File Menu/Manage Catalog/Catalog Manager.
    3. Some times certain formats can bring the Elements Organizer down. What kind of files have you been
importing into the Elements Organizer and are the crashes associated with certain source files?

  • How should I set up Premiere elements organizer?

I'm using PS CS5 and Lightroom 3. I'm about to install Premiere Elements 9 to do some editing and animation. Since I can view my images and clips in LR library and also Adobe Bridge, what are the advantages or disadvantages of PE organizer? How should I set up the defaults and use PE Organizer?  I'm a little concerned about using the same file in different programs. For example, say i have an image that's already been processed for printing and has a specific color profile/ color space that I want to use now as a starting point for an animation in PE. I just don't want to end up writing over previous data but I'm  also concerned about having 15 verisions of the same file. Any suggestions for peace of mind? I'm running windows 7.

I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Premiere Elements forum.

I bought a hp d3000 and can'nt download to preiere elements 11. need help!

As for the video specifications for your HP D3000. From what I read, you are either shooting 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second or 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second. And, your video is MotionJPEG.avi. Can you confirm that?
    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/hewlett-packard-hp-16-1mp-21x-optical-zoom-digital- camera-d3000-black-hpd3000/10239990.aspx
If you are shooting 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second, I would suggest the following, whichever works:
    a. transfer the video from the camera to a computer hard drive save location.
    b. Open Premiere Elements 11, go to File Menu/New/Project and in the new project dialog set the project preset YOURSELF to NTSC HDV HDV 720p30, making sure that you place a check mark next to "Force selected Project Setting for this project". Then via ADD MEDIA, Files and Folders, browse to an bring your MotionJPEG.avi into the project (Project Assets).
    or
    a. if doable, attach at USB cable from your camera's USB 2.0 port (it has one according to what I read online) to the computer USB 2.0 or 3.0 port
    b. then open a Premiere Elements 11 new project - File Menu/New/Project and in the new project dialog set the project preset YOURSELF to NTSC HDV HDV 720p30, making sure that you place a check mark next to "Force selected Project Setting for this project". Then via ADD MEDIA, "Vidoes from Flip or Camera"/Video Importer and its Advanced Dialog bring your video into the project.
In these cases the project preset will match your source media (no black borders in the monitor space when you edit). If the program has a problem selecting the project preset, as it wants to do, you will probably end up with the default 1080i30 instead of 720p30 unless you step in and do this project preset setting yourself.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements organizer with Premiere CS5

I'm looking for an easy way to capture AVCHD from my camera and organize the clips before importing them into Premiere CS5.  What are the best options to do this?  I was considering loading Premiere Elements on my PC and using the Organizer to do this.  Is there a better way?

I would think that Bridge can do what you need, without some of the extra baggage of the PrE Organizer. However, if there is something that is very important to you, let us know, as someone might have other ideas.

  • New dedicated computer for Premiere Elements 13 help

I'm in the market for a new laptop or desktop, dedicated to editing videos and photos using Premiere Elements 12, soon to upgrade to version 13.  No plans to use Pro version since Elements meets my needs very well.  I  want to be able to use all tools that are available in Elements for effects, etc. some day when I have time, but right now I'm doing basic editing since time is a factor - lots of videos and lots of pictures to upload to my website and to archive while maintaining high quality.  I'm using a Canon 70D for photos and a Panasonic HC-X920 for videos since I'm a serious amateur. The camcorder is AVCHD, but will convert to MP4 and store a copy right on the camera SD card if I want it to.  I've been reading everything I can find but need to move on and either purchase or build. I am looking for that "sweet spot", where the bang is biggest for the buck.  I'll spend what I need to, but don't want that which I'll never use.  Most of what I know is by reading about ISV certified partners, but those are for the Pro versions.  If there were ISV certified Elements partners, that would be what I'd want.  I've read over the years that Premiere Elements has so much of the functionality of the Pro version, so I would think the same type of heavy duty processors might be in order, especially for AVCHD editing.  I would equip a machine with an SSD for OS and apps and at least one more massive drive for finished product.  If another drive would work best for the input, I'd do that as well.  Raid 0?  Lots of video card questions as well, since the Pro versions are able to use that ram very effectively - does the Elements version do that?  For you experts out there, thanks in advance, because I have a massive headache right now trying to figure this out!!  Configuration, brands, etc., any and all suggestions welcome.  Thanks.

The biggest difference is that Premiere Pro will use an NVidia card for GPU rendering (see next) while P-Elements does not

  • Premiere Elements 7 Help required - timeline & source no playback

    Hello everyone,
I am currently experiencing some major problems with my copy of "Premiere Elements 7" recently which I have only encountered once before. Unfortunately the previous solution of a system restore was not available to me this time and after various re-installs and head scratching I am hoping someone may be able to help me with this issue.
    The problem:
When I double click the source footage for a preview, the footage does not play, a similar case in the timeline where once I hit the play button in the edit window, or hit space or enter, the button will indicate play, but the video will not be in motion. I can move the timeline tracker along and it will display the frame at that point.
It is only recently this has occured with no change to my computer at all. It is not connected to the internet as it is used purely for editing.
I have checked the playback settings and everything is in order and fits in with PAL.
    I am using:
    Windows 7
    MESH computer
    AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor
    3.00 GHz
    4.00 GB Ram (3.75GB useable)
    64-Bit operating system
    I eagerly await any help!

    Hey there,
My project preset is Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder Standard 48kHz, with the camera itself being a Samsung VP-MX25E
It may be worthwhile mentioning that the footage has worked in the program for a very long time before these issue began.
To get the footage from camera to computer I connect it via the supplied USB cable and copy the footage into a folder, not directly into the program as I find this method of organisation much more efficient.
The source files are all MP4 Video files, 720x576, Data rate 5014kbps, Total bitrate 5134kbps, with 25 fps.
The audio has a bit rate of 119kbps, in stereo and with a sample rate of 24kHz (the audio also does not play)
I have Local Disk NTFS with 911 GB available to me and 102GB free. All my footage is stored on here, as is premiere.
    Hope this is of help

  • Unable to install Premiere Elements 11 [was: Question,]

  • Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) question

    Hello
What might be the reason why Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) will not open up when I double-click on its desktop icon?
I have successfully installed it today - but not used it - and I can see it in the Control Panel and there is a folder for it under Adobe in my Windows 7 Program Files folder on my C drive.
    Thanks
    Steve

You are correct. The only way to test that would be to install an nVidia, or AMD/ATI card, disable the Intel embedded chip, and install the latest driver from the mfgr's. Web site - then test.
For general computing, the video card/chip and its driver, are less important, and e-mail clients, word processors, spreadsheet programs, and Web browsers usually work just fine. However, with programs like PrE, 3D creation programs and extreme games, rely very heavily on the interface with the video driver. PrE needs that, just for running its GUI (Graphical User Interface). It is programs, in that latter group, that tax the video driver very heavily.
I would start with this FAQ Entry (if I have posted this link upthread, I apologize): http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0 It starts with a general checklist on getting things set up and running for PrE. Then, it goes into some tips on tuning up one's computer and OS. Finally, it lists many troubleshooting tips, and links to some tools to help in that process, going from easy to harder. If you find, that after that article, things still do not work properly, that will narrow the focus to the video driver, with pretty high probability - though only the test outlined above, could verify that.
Though I have had Intel CPU's, since the first PC hit my desk in the 80's, I would not rely on one of their GPU chips, due to the lack of driver support, and always recommend that one go with an nVidia, or AMD/ATI chip set, instead. Going back some years, I was a fan of the Matrox video cards, especially on my graphic design computers. However, like Intel, Matrox was deficient in their driver support, so I finally dropped them for nVidia.
Even then, there can be developmental dead ends. My current laptop is about 5 years old, and has an nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX. I am still running XP-Pro SP-3 on it, and nVidia has not done a new driver for that chip and that OS, since mid-2012. All of my other Adobe programs run fine on it, except for PrE 11, which has some display issues. It's nothing that I cannot live with, especially as I have a new laptop on order. Still, and even with an nVidia chip, the driver support for it, with my older OS, has run its course. I, who always urge people to update their video drivers, am now out of luck - no new driver for that chip and OS - dead end.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
