Premiere Elements Quits After Using DVD Template

I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 for a few months while working on a project.  I finally finished and when dragging over the DVD template, the program just quits due to a "serious error."  I am very frustrated.

After you have responded to SG's questions, I have a few to ask.
What specific DVD Template theme are you trying to use in your Premiere Elements 10 project?
When you wrote
The program will just crash as soon as i try to drag dvd template into a project
Can we assume that you were using your mouse cursor to drag from the DVD Template thumbnail to the left into the Disc Menu window? If so, what happens if instead you click on the thumbnail to select it and then hit Apply. Same crash problem? In between tries to apply menu, are you hitting AutoPlay to get rid of the prior try before you try again?
How many Timeline menu markers do you have on your Timeline - main menu markers, scene markers, and stop markers?
How about taking a look at deleting the Premiere Elements 12 settings file...
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe

and in the 10.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 10.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Make sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
Thanks.

  • Why can't I sign into Premiere Elements 10 to use a template?

I'm trying to select one of the templates to use for the credits of my film, but it keeps trying to get me to sign in. The signing in process begins, but it never actually signs me in or rejects me. The signing in box just remains on the screen.
I've never before had to sign in to use any of the basic (Non-Plus Members Only) templates. What can I do?
    Thank you.

Bottom line: You cannot gain access to this discontinued Content.
    Details.
Thanks for the screenshot. That cleared up the situation for me completely.
Please refer to my screenshot from my Premiere Elements 10 Windows
Top left and top right thumbnail marks as seen in the 2nd row of thumbnails are photoshop.com plus types. They are no longer available to you in the
program. photoshop.com and photoshop.com plus are discontinued from the Adobe products. The only Titles available to you in 10 are displayed with thumbnails without those top left/top right markings as seen in the second row. There is no workaround or anywhere you can now buy replacements for 10.
I am not sure how and when the photoshop.com plus choices were ever available to you. Unless it was at a transitioning out of photoshop.com and a glitch in the system that permitted it. If you actually purchased one of these photoshop.com plus Content items, you should not be having any problems trying to access the files. You should have the completed files on your computer hard drive.
However, for versions 11 and 12, Adobe now has many of these choices as part of the purchased product (no ties to photoshop.com plus or Adobe Rebel which is now Adobe's preferred sharing site). No one sells replacements for 10. Buying 11 and 12 to get at copies of these files is possible but....
The Sign In dialog is meaningless in versions of Premiere Elements earlier than 11.
Please let me know if you have any questions on the above or need clarification on anything that I have written. I can offer suggestions for your searching for any purchased photoshop.com files if that turns out to be the case.
    Thank you.

  • Launching Adobe Premiere Elements 9 after using Firefox 3.6.13 causes PRE9 timeline to misfunction (go black).

If Firefox has been run since machine booted then when running PRE9, moving a clip in the timeline results in the timeline region going black. When mouse released the selected track reappears, hovering mouse over vertical scroll bar area makes it visible, scrolling results in entire timeline to refresh.
This could be a Java VM problem, as problem persists until machine rebooted. Closing Firefox does not clear problem.
Replicating process using Open Office, another Java app does not cause a problem.

Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone products.
So, you can have both on the same computer, but only open one for your work.
The classical recommendation is to finish a project in the version in which it was created since there
is no guarantee that a project from an earlier version will open in the later version. Probably will, but
no guarantees. And, when you do explore this, do it from a copy of the earlier version project. Once you
take the earlier version project into a later version one, you cannot go back to edit the later version edited
project in the earlier version program.
If you have both versions (9 and 13) on the same computer and you have not moved, deleted, renamed any of the version 9's files/folders,
right click the saved closed Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project file, select Open With, and then Adobe Premiere Elements 13.
(Your 9.0/9.0.1 saved closed project file should be found in Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/9.0.)
Please review and consider. If any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    Thank you.

  • Photoshop Premiere Elements Image sizing for DVD

Any way to prevent photos from being cropped/off screen when viewing on TV. Formated both 4:3 & 16:9 and bottom of 'portrait' layout images are often cropped. Happens on older long thin scanned photographs (approx 3" x 5") from the 40's & 50's?

    Bluestar06
I think that this question is better asked on the forum specific to Premiere Elements at
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
When you repost there I suggest that you
-- include the actual photo file dimensions (height and width) for your scanned Portrait mode photos
-- say whether you plan to do any pan and zoom within this type of photo
-- identify which version of Premiere Elements you are using
-- more details about your desired outout format - like will it be a Standard Defintion DVD or will it be an HD format  ?
Now theoretically within the Photoshop Elements Editor you could create a new landscape shape photo file (for each photo) where you placed your portrait mode photo on a background shaped for 4:3 or 16:9 as needed and then save a new photo specifically file for use in the Premiere Elements show.  However, this approach is probably not best if you plant to use pan/zoom and there are many other alternatives within Premiere Elements.

We are not Adobe here. Rather user to user.
In the threads that I have read here the following is the user to user reply on this matter that is seen regarding project assets....Music Scores in this case....
The Music Score soundtracks are from the Adobe Premiere Elements (12 or 13) Music Score selections within the program.
And, they can be used in the users choice of export. As for "authorship", I guess you would point to Adobe, Premiere Elements version, Music Score.
Would the evaluators settle for the above information?

  • Why do I loose rendered footage from my timeline in Premiere Elements 10, after saving my project !

Why do I loose rendered footage from my timeline in Premiere Elements 10, after saving my project on exit! When I reopen the project, the timeline needs rendering again! Can anyone help me with this problem, it's driving me mad!
Is there a fix, or is it a problem with settings in the program! Any help, greatly appreciated! Mike's Media.

    Mike,
    Welcome to the forum.
Along with the answers to Steve's questions, please tell us about your computer's I/O sub-system, i.e. your computer's HDD's, and especially where the Project, the media and the PrE Scratch Disks are stored. For instance, if everything is on C:\, or perhaps the Project, media and Scratch Disks are all on an external USB 2.0 HDD.

  • Premiere Elements 13 problem with DVD menu templates

I recently purchased Premiere Elements 13 for my iMac.  It crashes every time I attempt to add a DVD menu template to my project.  Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I just uninstalled and then re-installed Premiere Elements.  When I opened the program, I clicked on Movie Menus from the Tools menu.  There were blue bands on the menu thumbnails and I right-clicked on one and selected "download all."  P.E. let me know that the files would need 2.5 GB of space and I told it to go ahead and download the files.  The download was going fine and it downloaded all 2.5 GB of data.  I could see the blue bands disappear from the thumbnails as the download progressed.  When the downloading process was over the progress window disappeared.  I saw the rainbow colored pinwheel spin around for several seconds and then the program crashed.  The next thing I saw was a "Crash Report" with several lines of "computerese" and the message that it would be sent to Apple.  I clicked OK and in a second or two a window from Adobe appeared asking me if I wanted to restart the program and send the crash report to Adobe.  There was also an option for me to ask Adobe to send me feedback or tips for a workaround or solution to the problem and what came back was the message that Adobe had no workaround or solution to my problem.  For each of the previous times the program crashed, I have seen all of these windows that I just described.
One other thing:  when I re-opened Premiere Elements after the crash, I looked at the movie menu thumbnails and the blue bands were not there any more.  So it seems as though Premiere Elements "thinks" they have been downloaded.  If so, where are they and how do I use them?  And how do I prevent the program from crashing?
Feel free to ask me any questions you want to, especially if they will help solve this problem.  One reason I bought this program is that I want to make DVDs with menus and chapter selection buttons.  I have been using iDVD, but Apple no longer supports it, and it does have a few bugs I have had to work around.  I also have DVD Studio Pro, which came with Final Cut Studio a few years ago (before Final Cut Pro X) but it is not very user friendly.  I also have Final Cut Pro X, which has the option of authoring DVDs, but doesn't have the DVD menu template options that are in iDVD and DVD Studio Pro.
Thanks for your attention and help.

  • My kerning is off in Elements after using a template I purchased, how do I fix it? I've tried asian tools to no avail.

I used a template from an online shop that I ALWAYS buy my templates from, it screwed up the kerning on ALL my fonts. There is almost a full space between the letters. I've tried adjusting the asian options but it did absolutely nothing. What can I do? I have uninstalled and re-installed!

You can try doing a PRAM reset. To do this shutdown your MBP. With your lefthand hold down the option+command keys. Power on the MBP, and immediately with your righthand little finger hold down the P key and with your righthand index finger hold down the R key. So you have the option+command keys and the P&R keys held down. Wait until you hear the Apple chime twice, release the keys and let the MBP boot up. Try that and see if it helps. Follow up and let us know if that worked for you.

  • Problems with Premiere Elements 8 after updating to Nvidia driver 195.81 or later?

    Hello PRE8 users,
If you have an Nvidia-based graphics chipset, and you've updated to Nvidia driver version 195.81 or later and you're still experiencing frequent crashes and freezes in Premiere Elements 8, then we'd like to hear from you in this thread. As mentioned in the announcement at the top of this forum, we believe most of these issues are caused by a problem with an Nvidia driver that was released after PRE8 was developed, and that the issues should be resolved by updating to Nvidia driver version 195.81 or later. Notes from the announcement I mentioned above are copied below for your reference.
    Best regards,
    Chad
For Nvidia users, there is a driver update that will fix both of the following issues:
Premiere Elements 8 does not restart after closing on Windows
Frequent and inexplicable crashes with Premiere Elements 8
To resolve these issues, you should update your GPU (graphics card) driver to version 195.81 or higher, by following the steps below.
    1.      Identify which GPU driver you have by right clicking on the Desktop > Properties > Settings and in the Display field it will be displayed.
    2.      Go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and download driver for your GPU card. Its size varies from 80 to 120MB depending upon the GPU card model.
    3.      After the download is complete, run the driver install Installation. This should take less than 2 minutes.
There are no known issues that the latest driver update will cause.
This is an announcement. There is a separate discussion topic located here.
***If the update steps shown above do not upgrade your system to version 195.81 or higher, then you may need to download the driver directly. Use the link below only if the steps above do not update your driver to 195.81 or higher. The download page for Vista and Windows 7 is located here:

Up here I copied and posted my PC's spec's.  Since upgrading to the new driver, my problems increased.  I seem to experience more crashes than before.  Happens randomly and I can not see a pattern.   (I have noticed dragging clips from one area to another on the time line is no-no)

  • Premiere Elements 10 crashes on disc templates

I am copying Jonty's message. I am having exactly the same problem. I feel it has something to do with the latest OS X (Mavericks). Please get a fix out asap as I am sure there are a lot of us hurting right now. I have one other product (not Adobe) and it is crashing and the vendor said it is Mavericks so I am hoping you wil be able to correct this real soon.
    Thanks
"I have a really annoying problem when trying to use Premiere Elements 10 on my Mac
I can import and edit video ok but as soon as I try to build a disk using one of the pre-installed templates Premiere Elements 10 crashes with the following message 'Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project'. It doesn't seem to matter which template I choose the error always happens.
When I re-open the project all the video is missing and I have to start the project over again which is really frustrating.
Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening? I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Premiere Elements 10 but that hasn't helped.
I have included a screen shot and also info from a crash report (which includes the specs for my MacMini) below.
Any and all help is appreciated.
    Jonty"

    Hi Hausbrotherrecords / Coyotebobby
    Right firstly sorry I never updated this thread but some time ago I did get some info out of Adobe support;
Basically Adobe never fully tested PRE10 with Mavericks but support did admit they were fully aware of the issue prior to the release of OSX 10.9. The issue apparently is with the interaction between Mavericks, PRE10 & Quicktime which PRE10 needs. Basically as PRE10 was no longer the latest version of Premiere Elements Adobe (even though they knew of the issue) decided to do nothing and not warn their customers nor are they going to fix the issue.
    I argued that;
    a) At the time I was dealing with Adobe Support it had been only 14 months since I bought the software from new and at the time of purchase PRE10 was the current version.
    b) I would have a reasonable expectation that Adobe would continue support for PRE10 for a minimum of 2 years from the date when PRE10 ceased being the current version. There is a law set by the E.U. (I'm in the UK) that states that when you purchase a product that the purchaser would expect to get at least 2 years use from a product unless it directly specifies that the intended life of the product is less than 2 years. I also cited the support periods of other software companies (Microsoft with XP 13 years & Office has a 4 year support cycle) and showed that Adobe had fallen short of a customers reasonable expectation by not fixing the issue.
    c) I also cited that Adobe had known about the issue prior to the release of Mavericks and had failed to take reasonable steps to warn customers not to upgrade to Mavericks if you needed to retain full use of PRE10 thus forcing them to upgrade as their products would fail.
Adobe accepted these arguements and upgraded me (via download) to PRE12 for free which works perfectly. Personally I would have prefered that they fixed PRE10 as I prefer it but I'm happy with the outcome.
It has been 6 months since this happened but you can try making the same arguements to them and you may get lucky and get the same outcome.
    Hope this is helpful.
    Jonty
